Dolores Ann Miller Street, 79 of Bakersville, NC, Buladean Community, passed away April 20, 2022 at JCMC in Johnson City, TN. She was born September 4th, 1942 in Johnson City, TN to the late Florian & Irene Miller. She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Fred Street, loving daughter Evelyn Street Thomas, her adored son Florian Ray Street, courageous brother David Kent Miller,  which are all happy to be in heaven together at last.
Dolores was an amazing woman who showed kindness to all. Being very family oriented she was most happy when friends and family were around. One of her joys in life was caring & nurturing children, especially her children and grandchildren. A faithful member of Middle District F.W.B. Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, provided the puppet shows in the Bible schools, faithful prayer warrior, and always opening her home up to everyone offering them a warm meal and friendship.
Dolores obtained a certification in Early Childhood development, working in head-start when her children were small. She loved  to garden, cook, bake, and provide a loving home for her family. She was considered to be one of the best cooks in Buladean, being famous for her fried apple pies. The latter part of her life was caring for her late husband Fred who she had been together with since their first date, April 24th, 1970.   Dolores and Fred were very devoted and showed what true love was. All this through their faith in God, they raised five children and helped with seven grandchildren. These grandchildren are now fighting over her last jar of strawberry freezer jam. Said jam is currently in her grandson Kyle’s closet.
Survived by three daughters Florence Street of Johnson City, TN, twins Sara (Shannon) Street Ledford of Bakersville, NC, Paula (Micheal) Street Starnes of Kingsport, TN, two granddaughters, Stephanie (Adam) Thomas Brumit of Jonesbourgh, TN, Lura Nantrup of Johnson City, TN, five grandsons Austin Street (girlfriend Amanda), Kyle Ledford (girlfriend Michaela), Trent Street, Noah Ledford, Riley Street all of Bakersville, NC, two aunts Mittie Huffine (2nd Mother) of Johnson City, TN, Mary Ruth McKee of Johnson City, TN, special friends, Dot Hughes of Johnson City, TN, Randy and Ellen Nantrup of Bakersville, NC, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbors, and church family, and her fur-baby Squirts.
Special thanks to all the nurses on the 4300 Floor at JCMC for all the love, attention, and kindness shown to her and Dr. Ebeo.
Services to be held at Middle District FWB Church on Sunday, April 24th in Bakersville, NC. Visitation held between 1-3 pm, preceding the funeral at 3 pm. Burial following in the Charlie and Francis Street cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Jerry Wayne Greene, 73, of Bakersville, NC, passed away April 18, 2022. He was the son of the late Floyd and Mildred Greene of the Fork Mountain community. He especially enjoyed summers spent camping at Lake James and he proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.
Jerry is survived by his wife Dixie Hughes Greene and son Bradley Hughes; his granddaughters, Kayla Hughes and Kimberly McMahon (Casey) and one great grandson Brody McMahon; brothers, Bradley Greene, Claude Greene, Gary Greene, and Terry Greene; sister Linda Willis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

Obituary Preview: Sandy was reunited with his beloved wife Diane on Easter Sunday morning at his home on Greene Cove after a brief illness.  He was the son of John Harwood and Rose West and a brother to David, Larry, Jerry, Barbara, Margaret, Nancy, Brenda, and Savella. Sandy was a true family man.  He treated most everyone like family no matter how long he'd known them.  He never met a stranger and went by Dad, Paw, or Old man.  Sandy loved his children; Mary, Sandy Marie, Sandy Raymond Jr, Pamela, John, Kevin, Melinda, Cynthia, Autumn Angel, and the late Tonya Bruce.  He also loved and cherished his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Each and every one had a special place in his heart. Sandy  was a dedicated provider.  He was a pipe and Boiler Insulator for many years and he was great at his job.  He took pride in being the best he could be.  He would say "If you are a ditch digger, then always make sure you are the best ditch digger there is."  His son Raymond followed in his footsteps to become a professional Pipe and Boiler Insulator.  His son John is a professional Block, Brick, and Rock Mason, and his son Kevin is an Electronic Engineer.  All three sons mastered their trade and are considered some of the best at what they do. Sandy loved to hunt and fish, and he loved his little dogs.  He had an infectious smile and laugh.  He always had a story or tall tale, and had a twinkle in his eyes when he was up to something.  For those that knew and loved him, he will be truly missed.  The family will hold a private service at a later date.

She was a Registered Nurse and a member of Bakersville Baptist Church. Connie loved her family, her flowers, and her cats. In her career she worked with several local doctors. She also worked at Spruce Pine Community Hospital and was Nursing Director with The Mitchell County Health Department.
Survivors include: two daughters; Karen Buchanan, of Bakersville, NC, and Cathy Rogers, of Marion, NC, three sons; Curt Bowman, of Marion, NC, and Gary and John Bowman, both of Bakersville, NC, two sisters; Anne Milner, of Carthage, NC, and Margaret Biddix, of Murfreesboro, TN, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Ray Bowman, her sisters Nell Fox and Martha Harrison, and one brother Burl Ray Willis.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 4:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Reverend Mark McKinney and Reverend Kenneth Murphy officiating. The family will receive freinds two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Bakersville Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St Jude Hospital www.stjude.org.

Odell enjoyed fishing and hunting and he loved his family very much including his special cat, "Thomas". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Boone.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Hall Boone of the home; daughter, Patricia Epley (Allen) of Nebo; son, Ricky Boone (Mary) of Bakersville; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, April 15, 2022 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Willis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Slagle Cemetery, John Canipe Rd, Bakersville.

Myrl Greene Hall, age 87 of Hazen Ledford Rd. Bakersville, NC passed away at her home on April 9, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was a daughter of the late Fonzer and Laura Burleson Greene and a native of Mitchell County, NC. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband D. S. Hall who passed away in 2009. She was the youngest of six children: Pat Greene, Inez Wytt, Ruth Dellinger, Clarence Greene, and Anna Mae McKinney who all preceded her in death.
In her daughters eyes there could never be a sweeter mother. She was willing to do whatever she could for her family. One thing we will never forget is her homemade apple pies she made every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Survivors include: her daughters; Vickie Buchanan and husband Robert, and Lesia Staton, her five grandsons whom she was very proud of; Matthew Staton (Lauren), Josh Buchanan (Megan), Jeremy Buchanan (Teal), and Malachi and Micah Staton, two great grandchildren; Carson and Ava Staton, and a host of nieces, nephews, and one very special niece Martha Gayle McKinney all whom she loved very much.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Cane Creek #1 Cemetery on Cane Creek Cemetery Rd.

Harrison was born in Mitchell County June 3, 1931 to Father Harrison McCourry Senior and Mother Marie Sparks McCourry. Preceded in death Wife Bobbie Jean McCourry 2002 and Wife Eula Jean McCourry 2011. Harrison was the last of seven children, preceded by Arnold “Buddy” McCourry, Julia Louise M Harr Jacobs,  Edna Rose M Price,  Arbulus M Butler, Harold McCourry, and Sherrill Douglas McCourry.
Survived by Son Michael McCourry and Wife Jaun McCourry, Grandson Matthew McCourry wife Caroline McCourry and great Granddaughter Isla Rose McCourry, Grandson Mark David McCourry, Granddaughter Mercedes Dakota McCourry. Stepdaughter and Caregiver Vickie Hughes and husband Randy.
Harrison served as a member of the United States Air Force in Germany as a Medic from 1947 to 1952.  Graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1957. Retired from the North Carolina State Employment Agency in 1991. From retirement to the last day Harrison remained actively involved in many other entrepreneurial adventures.
Services will be held Monday, April 4, 2022 at 2 PM at Henline-Hughes Funeral Home. Visitation will  be from 1PM to 2PM. Don Ford and Michael Peterson will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Cane Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter 57 DAV.

Survivors include her son Jody Stevens and daughter in law Samantha Stevens, of Spruce Pine, her son Jamie Stevens and daughter in law Pricilla Stevens and grandson Jamison Stevens, of Bakersville, NC, Also surviving include her sister Paula Norman and brother in law Phillip Norman, of Spruce Pine, brothers Terry Lyons, of Creedmore, and Bill Lyons, of Spruce Pine, niece Candy Lyons, of Creedmore, and her lifelong friend Joe Stevens and her aunt Jean Lyons, of Marion, and several cousins.

Obituary Preview: Florian Ray Street, 49 years old, devoted father of three sons, got his wings in his sleep the early morning of Wednesday March 2nd, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family at his sisters' home in Johnson City, TN formally his grandmother's home where he had many happy memories.
He was born on January 13th, 1973 in a snow storm. He was a lifelong resident of Buladean, North Carolina. A dedicated and beloved father to 3 sons. Florian was a cherished son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend.
He grew up surrounded by a large family with 5 sisters, several uncles, aunts, and cousins. He spent his childhood in the fields, woods, and mountains of Buladean. He was influenced by his family to be a loyal, loving, and a caring man, always giving his time and devotion to friends, family, and his sons. He developed a great sense of humor and was always a prankster, especially to his sisters and cousins.
Florian was a graduate of Mitchell High School and a licensed Electrician. He was considered the, “2nd best Electrician in the world,” by many of his co-workers. He made friends everywhere he worked from where he started at Taylor Togs, to Sibelco in North Carolina. Florian was a member of Middle District Freewill Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and knew where his strength came from. Isaiah 40:31- “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Florian was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed fishing, guns, camping, 4-wheelers, and traveling. One of Florian’s loves was to get on his Harley with his friends and make an adventure of his own throughout the Appalachian Mountains. Florian also was a proud owner and breeder of Dobermans; Spike was his buddy.
Florian is preceded in death by his father Fred Street, sister Evelyn Thomas, grandparents Florian and Irene Miller, Charlie and Frances Street, several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Florian is survived by his children Austin Street (girlfriend Amanda), Trent Street, and Riley Street, his mother Dolores Street, sisters Florence Street, Dot Hughes, Sara Ledford (Shannon), Paula Starnes (Michael), nephews Kyle and Noah Ledford, nieces Stephanie Brumit (Adam), Lura Nentrup, and a host of family members, friends, a loving church and community.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 5th at 3pm at Middle District Freewill Baptist Church Bakersville, NC with Blaine Whitson officiating. Interment will follow at the Charlie and Frances Street Cemetery. Memorials may be made on behalf of his 3 sons to Florence Street 2135 David Miller Rd. Johnson City TN 37604

Vondina was a homemaker and greatly loved her family. She especially loved spending time and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Cane Creek Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed bird watching, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and working crossword puzzles. She was a very happy person that always had a smile.
Survivors include: four children; Sherry Byrd, of Spruce Pine, NC, Kenneth Norman (Marylou), of Marion, NC, Kimberly Ledford (Clifford), of Bakersville, NC, and Kristy Daniels (Bo), of Burnsville, NC, grandchildren; David Byrd, Ethan Ledford, Shawna Kneen, Kayla Vaughn, Jacob Daniels, and Samuel Daniels, great grandchildren; Macie Vaughn, Garrett Ledford, Oak Kneen, Nolan Vaughn, Willow Kneen, and one great grandson on the way.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband David Norman, one sister Eva Mae Wilson, grandson Bobby Byrd Jr., and a son in law Bob Byrd Sr.

He will be missed by family near and far. Jack was born in Bakersville, NC where he grew up. He was a Veteran of The united States Army. After his service in the Army he later moved to Robbinsville where he raised his family. He was the son of the Late Claude and Nora Rose Bowman. Jack spent most of his life in construction. He was self employed and operated Bowman's Construction. He was a proud member of The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
Survivors include: his son; Kevin Bowman (Tiffany Deats Bowman), grandchildren; Brody, Trey, Cade, Reed, and Pace Bowman, one sister; Shirley B. Greene, and many nieces and nephews that loved him so much.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his son; Shane Bowman, grandson; Tyler Bowman, brothers; Sonny, Leon, and Jim Bowman, and his sisters; Gladys Bowman, Grace B. Hill, and Ida B. Elliot.

A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Arthur and Nellie Fowler Cantrell. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Johnny and Jack, sisters Vera Brigman, Judy Brooks, and Sue Jamison.
Raymond entered the United States Marine Corps in 1965. His service included Cuba and Vietnam, where he served in the 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines Hotel Co. He was proud to serve his country.
He met and married Patricia Miller in 1967, and soon thereafter they moved to Mitchell County. Raymond served his family the same as he did his country, with honor and loyalty.
Raymond grew up as a farmer, his family working for Biltmore Dairies. In his post-service life, he was a very talented man who had many trades including carpenter, police officer in Spruce Pine, Chief of Bakersville Police Department, millwright worker, and various other skills. He also served on the Bakersville Fire Department for many years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed competitive bowling.
Raymond and Pat raised one son, Raymond, Jr., and were blessed with two granddaughters who were very special to them.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat Cantrell, one son, Raymond Cantrell, Jr. (Ellen) two granddaughters, Mahala Cantrell (Vince Runion) and Autumn Cantrell Smith (William), three great grandchildren, Morgan, Greyson, and Kaleb Smith, siblings Glen Cantrell (Sylvia) of Morganton, and Sara Owensby of Nebo, NC.
