Shuman Boyd Bickel - March 02, 1937 - April 29, 2024

Obituary Preview: LOCK HAVEN - Shuman Boyd Bickel, 87, of Avis passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024 at the Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Senior Living where he had been a resident since January of 2023.
He was born March 2, 1937 in Lock Haven to the late Joseph J. Bickel and Dorothy M. Barner.
He was the husband of the late Patricia (Kring) Bickel of 55 years who passed away on September 8, 2018. They were married on June 15, 1963.
Shuman grew up in Woolrich and became an Eagle Scout. As a young man he had the paper route and enjoyed doing that on his bicycle. He was a big brother to Randy and together they took many camping/fishing trips to Canada with the van.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1956 with basic training at Ft. Bragg, NC and then was stationed in Colorado and Texas to complete his tour. He was honorably discharged in 1962. He often spoke of those years being the best experience of his life and he kept in touch with his fellow soldiers.
He was employed as a diesel mechanic at the former McCormick Dray Line in Avis and Muncy. He then worked for Jersey Shore Steel where he retired.
He was a member of the local car club and was the proud owner of a dark green MGB which he drove around with the top down and a stuffed Lion riding on top of the back seat. He also owned a 1950 F6 Ford and a John Deere Tractor (LA) which you could find at the Nittany Antique Machine Show and in area at parades.
Surviving is a sister, Fairy Jean Breining of Jersey Shore and a sister-in-law Gwen Bickel. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph H Bickel, a sister Metta Williamson, brother-in-law’s Jim Breining and James “Wimpy” Williamson.
Also surviving is a brother-in-law Errol Kring, sister-in-law’s Sandy Leonard and Donna Baith and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Shuman will be held at11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Pastor Jim Breining officiating. Friends and relatives will be received from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
The committal will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven with full military honors from the United States Air Force.

She was married 15 years to Gary Wensel who preceded her in death.
Marleen was currently employed at the Valley Hotel Restaurant in Mill Hall as a kitchen manager and bar tender.
She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Nick (Jocelyn) Losch of Lehighton and a daughter Saprina Losch of Lock Haven and six grandchildren; Isabella, Holden, Eligh, Dalilah, Oliver and Elodie.
She is survived by a sister Debra Bumbarger of Howard and a twin sister Arleen Losch of Mill Hall also three brothers; James Losch, Sr., Ronald Losch, Jr. and Kenneth Losch all of Howard.
She was preceded in death by a brother Terry Mann.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the Valley Hotel, 246 Main Street, Mill Hall.

Born June 6, 1933 in Lock Haven he was a son of the late Elwood and Edna (Seyler) Getgen.
Larry was married to Bonnie C. (Snook) Getgen who died in 1991 and his second wife Jennie M. (Koch) Getgen died in 2011.
He worked in the final assembly division at Piper Aircraft for 30 years retiring in 1984.
Larry was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Jersey Shore V.F.W., American Legion, and the 40 & 8. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting.
He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and served on the USS George K. MacKenzie.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne Getgen and Tim Getgen also two daughters; Laura Hensler and Debra Fisher along with 11 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Jerry Getgen and a brother Elwood Getgen, Jr.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Marilyn was married on August 23, 1969 to James R. Gill, Sr. who survives. They celebrated 54 years of marriage together.
She worked for Woolrich Woolen Mills, Kohen Cleaning and also worked as a private caretaker.
Marilyn was a member of the Salvation Army. She enjoyed bingo, baking and attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband; two sons, James (Kelly) Gill, Jr. of Rote and Timothy (Dawn) Gill of Lock Haven and four daughters; Jewel Moore of Mill Hall, Volorea (Terry Kepler) of Jersey Shore, Tina (Tom) Hackenberg of Renovo and Angela Smith and the late Rob Smith of Williamsport.
She is survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren one brother Terry Sample of Lock Haven and a sister April Butler of Mill Hall.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Nyman and Bonnie Lucas and two brothers, Steve Sample, Paul Sample.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd. Friends and relatives will be received from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.

Born February 6, 1931 in Sugar Valley; a daughter of the late Merle and Edna (Lehman) Brungard, she retired from West Company Pharmaceuticals. Mrs. Held was a member of St. John (Boonville) Lutheran Church and was active with Sugar Valley Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years. She enjoyed crafting and playing cards.
Mrs. Held is survived by two sons, Larry E. and wife Mary Held of Mill Hall and Gerald A. and wife Nancy Held of Loganton; a daughter-in-law, Karen Held of Loganton; seven grandchildren, Jim Held, Amy Jelkmann, Traci Miller, Corey Welch, Ashley Held, Courtney Kunes, and Joshua Reeder; nine great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; and a twin sister, Alma Seyler of Loganton. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Reeder; and a son, Curt Held.

Obituary Preview: Clifford E. Good, 101, a former resident of Lock Haven, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 in Collinsville, IL.
Born August 30, 1922, in Jonestown, PA, he was a son of the late James B. and Anna M. Good.
Clifford was married in 1958 to the former Charlotte Betty (Hosler) Ulmer Good. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2021. They celebrated 63 years of marriage together.
He first enlisted in the Army/Air Corps in 1942 and served in the Air Force, during both World War II and the Korean War, as a B17 Bomber gunner and photographer, aircraft and autopilot technician, and aircraft electrician, finally retiring after 20 years of service.
He was a 50-year member of the Dunnstown United Methodist Church.
After his military service, Clifford worked at various companies as an aircraft instrument technician and repairman and in his later years as a security system electrician/installer.
Surviving are a daughter, Sonja M. Fox, of Collinsville, IL, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Ulmer, a granddaughter, and 6 brothers and sisters.
The viewing will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 1:00 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm at Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Pastor Rich Wallace officiating.
Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St Louis, MO.

He was married to the former Dorothy M. Getz who preceded him in death September 4, 2004.
He worked at“The Dyeworks” for 20 plus years until it closed in 1982 and up until 1990, he was a self-employed carpenter. He then worked in maintenance for First Quality in McElhattan from 1990 – 2005.
He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda M. (John) McHenry of Lock Haven and Patricia A. Tyson of Mill Hall, 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. One brother and four sisters also survive.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Margaret Louise Colucci.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Chaplain Mark A. Beard officiating.
Friends and relatives will be received one-hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Burial will be private at St. Agnes Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: MILL HALL - Lois A. McGill, 87, wife of Robert T. McGill, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on March 14, 2024, in Mill Hall, PA.
Born in Lock Haven on July 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arlington and Genevieve (Wetzel) Gunsallus.
On August 19, 1954, Lois married Robert (Bob) T. McGill, who survives at home in Mill Hall, PA. Bob and Lois shared 69 years of marriage and together they raised two children, Raymond (Diane) McGill and Karen (Curtis) Willar (Mill Hall, PA). Lois was dedicated to her four grandchildren, Brodrik and Seth McGill (Lock Haven, PA) and Reed (Lock Haven, PA) and her only granddaughter, Arminta Willar (Pittsburgh, PA). Also, surviving, is her step grandson, Alex Russell (Williamsport PA). She is also survived by one sister, Janet (Donald) Weise (Swissdale, PA).
Lois was a graduate of the class of 1954 from Lock Haven High School and a member of the Salona United Methodist Church.
She was employed at the A&P in Lock Haven and CAPS doctor’s office in Mill Hall, PA. In 1977, her and Bob owned and operated Ridge Crest Manor Mobile Home Park (Ridge Crest Community, Howard, PA). She was very proud of Ridge Crest and enjoyed finding homes for her many residents.
Lois loved to travel and explore the different cultures in the world. Lois and Bob did extensive traveling together to faraway and exotic places, booked by her son, Ray, at Nittany Travel. She once sailed around the world and loved to talk about her adventures. Bob and Lois spent their winters in Florida for over 40 years, finally buying a home in Hobe Sound, Florida, where they were “snowbirds” and lived for the past 17 winters.
hey have many good friends from around the country, but recently returned to their Pennsylvania home, to be closer to their family.
Lois was a bright, colorful spark of light, whom could bring any garden to life. It was a proud moment when Lois won the “Garden of the Month” award and she was very proud of her many beautiful landscapes. She loved to read books and play “Words with Friends”. She also enjoyed creative art projects and could often be seen with a crochet hook or knitting needles in hand, creating beautiful wearable art with her craft.
She enjoyed thrifting with her daughter, Karen, to turn unusual items found from “trash to treasure”. She was a wonderful artistic painter and everywhere you look around their beautiful home, you can find the art she created. Lois was also a very good chef, often making her family meals consisting of different types of cuisine.
Lois enjoyed Penn State football and the Art Festival. She enjoyed camping at the Grange Fair, as well as the Clinton Country Fair, and looked forward to traveling across the country in their motor home. Bob and Lois once drove to Alaska in their RV and spent many summers exploring local and distant areas, while enjoying her time with Bob. Lois lived every day to the fullest, had a marvelous sense of humor, and could brighten any person’s day with her outgoing social skills. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren, and loved spending quality time with all her family members.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Pastor Thomas Jones presiding.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
Interment will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Born March 15, 1942 in Bellefonte she was a daughter of the late Vincent M. and Mary M. (Adams) Harm.
Ruth Ann was married on May 26, 1961 in Lock Haven to Robert R. Munro. They celebrated 49 years of marriage together until his death on October 29, 2010.
She was a member of the Flemington United Methodist where she sang in the choir and loved her church family.
Ruth Ann graduated from State College High School in 1960. She enjoyed coloring and playing the saxophone.
Surviving are two twin sons, Pastor Parrish V. Munro, Sr. of Mifflintown and David C. (Debra) Munro of Lock Haven and a daughter Kimberly K. (Michael) Munro of Rochester, NY. 13 Grandchildren, 27 Great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Ruth Ann is survived by a sister Trich Rose along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is being planned and will be announced.
Interment will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
Memorial contributions can be sent the Flemington United Methodist Church.

Connie was married to her husband, best friend, and fishing buddy, Harold R. “Rich” Sellers, Jr. They celebrated 24 years of paradise in marriage together.
She worked as an assistant manager for Sunoco APlus in Lock Haven for several years until her retirement.
Among many things, Connie enjoyed fishing, camping, crafts, and puzzles. But above all else, she loved spending quality time with family and friends over a cup of coffee.
Surviving are her loving husband, three sons; Brock (Amy) Sellers of Woolrich, Michael (Mitzi) Laubach of Flemington and Jack (Nichole) Anderson of Mill Hall, as well as, three daughters, Jean (Nyheem) Steele of Williamsport, Barbara (James) Sellers of Lock Haven and Tonya Walker of Port Matilda. She is survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and an honorary son Jack (Tonya) Isaacson of Lock Haven.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul E. Hunter, Jr. in 1999.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Obituary Preview: Deborah J. “Debbie” (Raemsch) Rosamilia, 74, of Lock Haven went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 16, 2024 at UPMC Susquehanna in Williamsport. Born April 21, 1949 in Renovo she was a daughter of the late Fred and Virginia (Nicholas) Raemsch.
She was married on January 31, 1970 to C. Michael Rosamilia who died October 18, 2023. They celebrated 53 years of marriage together.
Debbie worked at the Woolrich Outlet and was a church secretary for several churches in the Lock Haven area.
She attended Echo Hope Assembly in Mill Hall and also sang in several church choirs in the area throughout her life. She was devoted to her faith and loved reading her Bible.
Debbie enjoyed teaching and spreading the word of God to everyone she encountered. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who loved making memories with her family throughout her life.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah M. Rosamilia of Lock Haven, a daughter in law Michelle Rosamilia of Mill Hall two grandchildren, Renae (Hunter) Shoemaker and Jeremy Rosamilia.
Also surviving are two sisters, Arlene Raemsch of Mill Hall and Stella Markert of Jersey Shore. Two brother-in-law’s, James Lomax of Mill Hall and Gary Markert of Jersey Shore.
Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son Matthew Rosamilia, a sister Carol Lomax, and son in law Ron Dailey.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Pastor Craig Cross officiating.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 -11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Burial will be private at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall.

On March 14, 1953 Doris married the late Lee L. Merrill and together they celebrated 67 years of marriage until his death on February 13, 2020.
She was a member of Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, Eastville. Doris enjoyed crocheting, sewing, going to the cabin, watching western movies and spending time with her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Arthur and Terri Merrill and Jerry and Gail Merrill all of Loganton, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law; Donald and Elda Mae Holdren of Loganton and one sister; Grace Nicholas of Jersey Shore.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by three brothers; Russell, Jr., Merrill and Elwood Holdren and three sisters; Anna Mae, Pearl and Freda. A viewing will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, 2305 E. Winter Road, Loganton, PA 17747 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Kenneth Geisewite officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rick was a member of Faith Baptist Church where he was a song leader. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and Penn State Wrestling.
Surviving are his loving wife; one son Michael (Terresa) Zener of Soldotna, Alaska and a daughter Bethany (Matthew) Miller of Beech Creek and two grandchildren, Shaylynn and Aleena. Also, a brother; Ron (Paula) Zener of Woolrich and three half-sisters; Kathy Little of Mill Hall, Ellen (John) Lorson of Williamsport and Eleanor Myers of Lock Haven.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church, 143 Liberty Street, Blanchard with Pastor Troy Kerstetter officiating.
A viewing for friends and family will begin at 1:00 o'clock - an hour prior and the service.
Burial will follow at Blanchard Church of Christ Cemetery.

Also surviving are a brother John (Victoria) Engle of Howard and two sisters; Regina Strouse of Castanea and Dorothy (Rich) Greenwald of Butler and a host of nieces and nephews and his companion Robin Geagan.
He was preceded in death by a sister Yvonne Catalina.
Donations can be made to the family to offset final expenses.

Born December 1, 1939 in Beech Creek she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Anderson) Hevner.
Nancy was married on May 30, 1958 to Kenneth L. Dickey, Sr., who died August 20, 2022. They celebrated 64 years of marriage together.
She worked for Supelco, Inc. in Pleasant Gap retiring in 2002.
Nancy was a former member of the Church of Christ in Mill Hall. She enjoyed bingo, traveling with her friends on bus trips. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates baseball fan she enjoyed music and listening to George Jones.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth L. Dickey, Jr., of Mill Hall and a sister Trudy Masden of Richmond, VA also two special nieces, Sherry Weaver of Marsh Creek and Karen Falls of Howard and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her siblings, Shirley Rishel, Ruth Herlocher, Thomas Hevner, Donald Hevner, Frances Shady, Helen Bowman, Margaret Young, Miriam Hanley, Alice Butler, Ruby Morton and Martha Bowman.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., with the Rev. Mark E. Riley officiating.
Friends and relatives will be received one-hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Burial will be private at Hayes-Fearon-Bossert Cemetery, Beech Creek.

Obituary Preview: LOCK HAVEN - Thomasine J. (Skovronsky) Meyer passed away peacefully at her home in Lock Haven on Christmas Day, her favorite holiday. Thomasine had just turned 86 and was in home hospice for a brief time after a fall she sustained.
Born in Larksville, PA she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Eleanor (Baron) Skovronsky. Thomasine received her Registered Nursing (RN) degree and worked in Philadelphia at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. While there, she met her future husband, Dr. Carl A. Meyer, Jr. and they were married on August 1, 1959. With Carl serving in the Air Force, the couple moved several times while starting a family and ultimately settled in Lock Haven in 1966. Both were members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lock Haven.
Thomasine had a keen interest in politics and was Campaign Manager for a Pennsylvania State Senator. She continued to follow local and national politics throughout her life.
After raising five children, Thomasine went back to college and received her B.A. in Visual Arts from Lock Haven University, marking the beginning of a prolific period in her life where she created more than one hundred works of art in various forms, mostly painting and sculpture.
A dog lover, Thomasine’s favorite breed was the Pug, and she had several as loyal companions over the years.
When visiting with family, Thomasine loved to play the card game “canasta”. She kept track of the score. She and her daughter, Kate had a long-standing lead over other members of the family.
She is survived by a son, Carl A. Meyer, III of Galloway, NJ and two daughters, Carla Baron of North Hollywood, CA and Kathryn (Mark Oliphant) of Easton, MD as well as two grandsons, John Henry and Maxwell; a brother Tom Skovronsky of Washington State. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl, a daughter Amy and a son Thomas.
A service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery and Helt Funeral Chapel, Mill Hall at the convenience of the family.

Doris is survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
At her request there will be no services.

Following WACC he graduated from the Allentown Police Academy. He went on to work in the Clinton County Court System and was a former county detective.
Thomas worked in law enforcement for 40 years. He was a member of the F.O.P. Lock Haven, Elks Lodge #182, and the Clinton Country Club.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and spending time with his friends and family.
Surviving are three sons; Thomas G. Mills, Jr of Lock Haven and James Mills and Michael (Christine) Mills both of Williamsport also a daughter, Ashley (Evan) Warden of Quakertown. Several grandchildren and a great grandson survive.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother George Mills, Jr.
Private viewing will be helkd at Helt Funeral Chapel in Mill Hall.

Bonnie enjoyed shopping, bingo and Chinese auctions.
Surviving are her loving husband; Ralph K. Thomas and her mother; Marie Zadora of Wilkes-Barre. Two brothers, Harry (Debbie) Zadora of Nanticoke and Robby (Gail) Zadora of Shickshinny Lake and a sister Joy (Bernie) Fox of Shavertown. Bonnie is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law Mike Kosloski of Wilkes-Barre and a sister-in-law Patty Zadora of Hanover Twp.
Along with her father she was preceded in death by a brother, Trent Zendora and a sister, Elaine Kosloski.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made the SPCA, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are being handled by the Helt Funeral Chapel, Mill Hall.

There will be no visitation. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Stull of Lock Haven and a son; John (Norma) Stull of Milesburg and two granddaughters; Kada and Kira. Also surviving are four cousins, Bonnie (Clair) Richner of Mount Union, PA, Lee (Michelle) Bowman of Zephyrhills, FL, Ned Kunes of Blanchard and Connie Kunes Packer of Marsh Creek.
He was preceded in death by his longtime companion Ruth Jackman of 40 plus years and an aunt Sis Bowman and his former wife Barb Stull.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
