Jim loved his family and loved people. He would strike up a conversation with anyone whether he knew them or not.
Before having children of his own, he became a sponsor for the "Big Brother/Big Sister" organization. He and his little brother quickly formed a bond that continued even through his adulthood.
Jim also pursued country music as a singer and had moderate success here in the local area. He formed the duo "Wesley Warner" and opened for acts such as "Trick Pony", and other country music artists. He was able to experience recording a CD with songs written by a talented local writer, and backup vocals completed by Nashville TN professionals. It was a dream come true for him and he loved the entire process.
Jim loved to fish and before he became disabled he had the opportunity to charter a fishing boat in Hawaii and again in the Gulf of Mexico. He and his wife traveled to Hawaii on 3 separate occasions where he spent most evenings singing to the locals.
Jim enjoyed being a father more than anything else and was so proud of the young men they are becoming. He was at his happiest at home with his family. Unfortunately the last several years of his life he suffered from several medical conditions and was permanently disabled. Even though he was in indescribable pain, he persevered the best he could.
A memorial service will be held this Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:00 am at Elm St. Christian Church, 3020 E. Elm St., Springfield IL. A lunch will be provided immediately after the service at the church. Everyone is welcome and come as you are.
To those that may not know, Jim's father-in-law was a prior pastor at Elm St. Christian Church and he also married Jim & Angi there in 1989. Additionally, Jim's mother-in-law baptized him there in 2004.
