Obituary Preview: Soila Reyna Lopez, beloved mother and wife, passed away on April 23, 2024, after a long battle with ongoing health issues. Born to Juanita and Ismael Reyna in Texas, the youngest of 11 children their family settled in California when she was a young girl. She found her passion in the beauty industry becoming a Cosmetologist, Barber, Esthetician, and Instructor.
Known for her vibrant personality and love of all things beauty (and Marylin Monroe), Soila will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Soila’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing.
She is survived by her husband John Lopez Senior and four children Estomi, Jesse, James, and Beisima, her beloved grandkids, and her cats Coco Chanel, Janis, and McLovin.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Obituary Preview: Mohammad Kazem Kouroush Ferdowsali was 91 years old when he passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his wife of 62 years (Soroor), his sons (Ali and Amir), his daughter (Susan) and grandchildren (Rosheen and Ashling). Mohammad was born in Shiraz, Iran where he served in the military as a colonel for 25 years.
Mohammad emigrated to the US in 1977 to provide a better life for his family. Upon coming to the US, he first lived in Santa Rosa, CA close to his relatives.
Mohammad’s first job in the US was to operate a delicatasen that he purchased in San Mateo, CA where he operated the restaurant for 5 years before selling it and moving to the Santa Clara valley. Mohammad worked as an insurance agent for many years, then drove a school bus for underprivileged students until his retirement in 1997.
Mohammad enjoyed gardening and outdoors. He loved roses and living in Salinas was very refreshing for him as he enjoyed the weather. He was also a very good cook and did all of the grocery shopping and cooking until he was around 82 years old. Mohammad was a very compassionate, caring, family loving humble person that lived a very simple life. His hobby was to search the internet for news from Iran and watch classical Iranian movies online.
Mohammad made friends everywhere he visited and everyone loved him for his smile, his eyes and sense of humor.
We will all miss Mohammad as life won’t be the same without him and moving on will be very difficult. The services planned for Mohammad will be held as follows: - Tuesday April 30th from 1-5 pm: Open casket viewing at Healey mortuary: (405 N Sanborn Rd, Salinas, CA 93905) - Wednesday May 1st at 10 am: Prayer service at the local masjid, (35 W Market St, Salinas, CA 93901) - Wed May 1st @10:30 am:

Eric will be remembered for his caring heart, beautiful smile, and the special bond he shared with his son, as well as his brothers, sisters,. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that truly touched the lives of those around him. He is survived by his father, Shawn Estigoy, mother, Lisa Trevino Fresquez, stepfather Abel Fresquez, his son Owen Estigoy ,siblings Andrea Estigoy,Justin Estigoy, Adam Fresquez, Heaven Leigh Fresquez and stepbrother Abel Fresquez III. his maternal grandparents Robert & Irene Trevino, & his paternal grandmother Irene Estigoy Austin. Eric was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Santos Estigoy and Ray Austin.

Josafat Arias Saldaña - November 13, 1920 - April 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: Josafat Arias Saldaña, 103, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 13th, 1920 in San Bernardo, Guanajuato. He spent 41 years of his life living in Guanajuato, Mexico. He then migrated to Salinas and resided here for 62 years. Josafat was a proud father of 9 living children, and 3 angel babies.
Josafat provided for his family by migrating between Mexico and the United States during the 1940’s to work as a “bracero”, cultivating a foreign land during an arduous time in history. Josafat worked the fields in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona and California. He believed in the power of the United Farm Workers, marched alongside Dolores Huerta and the late Cesar E. Chavez; a firm believer AND supporter of the United Farm Workers until his passing.
Josafat, lovingly came to be known as “Tata” to his family. He was a man with an uncanny sense of humor, which was his way of showing care and love. Although, Tata came from very humble beginnings, his life was rich of life experiences, both personally and those with his children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. Tata will always be remembered for his sweet “tooth”, the sacrifice and love for his family, along with his will to overcome all obstacles in his life.
Josafat is survived by his 8 children, 19 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Celestina Arias, mother, Valentina Saldaña, father, Hilario Arias, and second eldest son, Bernardo Arias.
A viewing will be held Thursday, April 25th, 2024 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Healey Mortuary located at 405 North Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905. A rosary will be held at 3:30pm at the Mortuary.

Obituary Preview: Josita (Jo) Dawn Porter, 85, a longtime resident of Salinas, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, after many years of battling chronic health conditions. She was born July 20, 1938, in Chowchilla, CA, to Fay and Elmer Godsey.
Jo moved to Monterey County as a child and graduated from Salinas High School in 1956. After marrying Gerald (Jerry) Porter, they continued to live in Salinas with their daughter, Christy.
For many years, Jo was an active member of the Phi Epsilon Phi social sorority, where she was a past president of the Alpha Xi chapter and also past president at the national level. She was a social butterfly her entire life and she enjoyed meeting friends and family for lunch, shopping, or a game of tile rummy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Fay Godsey; her father, Elmer Godsey; her husband, Gerald Porter; and her brother-in-law, Jack Vezzolo.
Josita is survived by her daughter, Christy Porter; her sister, Brenda Godsey; her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Lauren Humpert; and her sisters-in-law, Lila Vezzolo and Karen Jones. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Jeffery Vezzolo (Beth), with whom she was especially close.
A memorial service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 2nd, at the Prunedale Grange, 17890 Moro Rd., in Prunedale. In lieu of sending flowers, please donate to a favorite charity or plant a flower in her honor.

Francisco was married to his wife Frances Salas for 46 years.
Francisco was a very hard-working man that never backed down from a challenge, Francisco was always there to share a kind word when needed and wise words that felt like he was scolding but in reality, it was from a place of love and wanting everyone to do well. He loved to make his friends and family laugh with his endless supply of funny jokes and stories. Even when he was in so much pain, he was still talking and sharing his life lessons to comfort his family.
Francisco enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to be surrounded by his daughter Taina and granddaughters Isis, Nubia, and Ryezelle. He was always happy to see and spend time with his honorary grandson Evan. One of his greatest joys was singing to his great grandkids Calliope and Tommy.
Francisco had a special place in his heart for his niece Griselda and the whole Palafox Family.
Francisco is survived by his wife Frances, his daughter Taina. Stepchildren Yesenia, Iris and Armando. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Francisco is preceded in death by his parents Jose Dolores and Maria Castaneda Salas. Siblings Jose Salas, Petra Salas and Pedro Salas and his grandson Desi Sepulveda Jr.
Francisco’s legacy will live on through his family he loved so much.
A visitation for Francisco will take place on Thursday, May 2nd from 1-6pm with a Rosary Prayer Service at 4pm at Healey Mortuary. His Funeral Mass will be Friday, May 3rd at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10am followed by burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

She lives on in her remaining children Christina Chacon, Geronimo “Jerry” Mendoza, Andrew Mendoza, and Paul Leyba, and was preceded in death by her children Ernesto “Ernie” Leyba, Steven Mendoza, Daniel Mendoza, David Mendoza Sr., and Antonio Mendoza Jr. She was mother to over 90 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren. She lived her life doing what she loved, taking care of her family, staying current on national and local affairs, spending time with her many friends, crocheting, gardening, playing word searches, and enjoying black cherry ice cream. She has touched many lives and in turn has affected generations with her ability to be gentle and strong, tender but firm, and was unwavering in her unconditional love. It is this love that has made Connie a mother to all. She will be truly missed and her time and work and love on this earth will forever be appreciated as her life has been a testament to struggle and triumph. A life full of tears, joy, and love. We love you and you will never be forgotten for you live on in all of us.
Visitation for Connie will take place on Wednesday, April 24th at 10am for family only and 11am-12pm for friends. A Rosary Prayer Service will begin at 12pm and all services will take place at Healey Mortuary. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Prunedale.

God called her home on April 17, 2024 at 3:25pm surrounded by her children and grand children. Sandra was born and raised in Castroville California to Jacob P. Leyba and Jennie R. De La Torre and had 10 siblings.
Sandra was a loving and dedicated mother to 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Her children and her grandchildren were her entire world. The love and dedication that she had for her legacy was impenetrable, unconditional and fierce.
Sandra was a loving and caring woman who liked to have fun. She was selfless and was always willing to help anyone in need. Sandra was a social butterfly and had many friends whom she cherished.
Sandra had many hobbies including shopping, selling jewelry and makeup, going on trips and watching the 49ers play during football season. Christmas and Thanksgiving were her favorite time of the year because she loved to spend time with her family.
Her education history includes high school with some college. Sandra was a very hard worker, sometimes working two and three jobs to provide for her children. She started work from the age of 16 in a variety of jobs such as agriculture and retail. She worked for the Department of Social Services for 18 years until she retired.
Sandra was an avid Christian who loved going to church and singing Christian music. She loved taking her grandchildren to church and teaching them about Jesus. Sandra would worship the Lord any chance she had and would spread the word about his love to anyone who would listen.
Sandra was strong, beautiful, resilient and protective. She taught her children and grandchildren to be strong and to look out for one another.
Sandra is preceded in death by her three brothers Ernest Molina, Ernest Leyba and Jacob Leyba Jr. and her parents Jacob P. Leyba Sr. and Jennie R. De La Torre.
Sandra is survived by her loving children Lisa Dolores Pacheco, Jennie Theresa Torres, Jose Antonio Aguilar and Felicia Ann Gallegos and all of her grandchildren and her great grand child.
A viewing will be held on Monday April 29, 2024 at the Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas, CA from 12pm to 1pm for family and from 1pm to 6pm for the public.

He was born on October 27, 1944, in Uvalde, Texas, and lived in Salinas, California for 61 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruno Espino Sr. and Maria Ignacia Polanco.
Bruno is survived by his ex-first wife and end-of-life companion, Lupe Olvera; and their children—Ray Olvera Espino and his spouse, Angel, Roy Olvera Espino, and Ruby Olvera Espino and her spouse, Sergio Calivillo. His grandchildren are little Ray, Alex, Victoria, Isabella Espino, Mercedez Olvera Espino, Sergio Bartolo Calvillo, Ozwaldo Espino Calvillo, and Ricardo “Ricky” Calvillo. His ex-second wife, Alicia Espino; Siblings; Esperanza Espino, Florinda Laralde, Janie England ,Maruca.
He worked in the fields in the Salinas Valley for 48 years as a Foreman, Supervisor, and Quality Control at Bud Antle, Hansen Farms, Associated Produce, Freshkist, and Green Rubber-Kennedy Ag. for 15 years. He woke up before the sun and came home late in the evening. Bruno’s work ethic was unparalleled, and he was a model of inspiration to his family.
Bruno was a true city cowboy who could outdress anyone in his fine suits at parties. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed seeing his grandkids while he cooked, fixed his house, and cared for his lemon tree.He enjoyed football and chili de molcajete and could entertain with the funniest stories. He was a good man, father, friend, and beloved papa to his grandkids. Bruno will be remembered for his love and his spirit to his family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Baca Morales.
He leaves behind many friends who dearly loved him. George was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. If someone needed help, he was always there, no matter what. George will be missed by many family, friends, and loved ones who were fortunate enough to know him and benefit, in some way, large or small, from George’s generosity and kindness.
Visitation with family will be on Tuesday, April 16th from 12-5 PM at the Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 17 th at 11:00 AM, at Healey Mortuary.

Sergio had a passion and loyalty to his dreams. Those dreams that would come true and exceed his expectations. He worked hard and was committed. He and his wife, Elvia Salgado, had a vision of opening a restaurant with the greatest of food, atmosphere, and love. Stonies Tap House and Bistro. This is and will always be his legacy.
His heart was larger than life. If he could help he would every single time. His community was very important to him and he always made sure to bring positivity and kindness in all his endeavors.
Sergio’s family was his world. He is survived by his wife, Elvia Salgado, his 5 children; Lydia, Danielle, Giovanni, Iliana, and Kailani. His parents Patricia and Sergio Alejo, his brothers, Oscar, David (Amanda), and Hector. Numerous nephews, cousins, Aunts and Uncles.
Sergio has left a legacy and that legacy will live on. He will truly be missed by all.
His light will continue to shine forever and he will remain in our hearts always. Numerous nieces ,nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Pedro Barcinas Cabrera, mother Helen Marie Herndon Cabrera, sister Judy Santiago, and nephews Manny Ayala, Christopher Gomez and Scott Marple.
A service to honor and celebrate Paul's life will be held on April 19,2024 at Healy Mortuary located at 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, California 93905. Romana L. Rocamora - January 22, 1938 - March 31, 2024

Obituary Preview: Romana “Rocky” Lagoc Rocamora, 86, passed away early on Easter Sunday morning, March 31, 2024 on her way to Easter Sunday Mass.She was born on January 22, 1938 in Bacara, Illocos Norte - North Philippines to Daniel and Ines Lagoc and was the fifth born of five children. Romana attended Hospital de San Juan De Dios and graduated with her Registered Nursing Degree on October 12, 1960. Upon graduating her nursing courses in the Philippines, Romana traveled across the Pacific to Salinas California in 1962, where she would live with her uncle Felix Dagiuo and family. She later met her husband, Medardo “Dan” Malineza Rocamora and happily married in 1964.
They purchased their home in North Salinas then welcomed their first born son Richard in 1966 and 8 years later introduced their second born son Randy in 1973.
Romana started her nursing career at Salinas Memorial Hospital, and through the decades, worked numerous shifts and positions like Charge Nurse and Staff Developer, at Salinas Valley Memorial, Katherine Convalescent, Hazel Hawkins, Mee Memorial, CHOMP, Saint Louis Hospital, and Casa Serena Convalescent, but finishing her 56 Year nursing career at CTF Soledad.
Romana really enjoyed watching her Filipino soap operas, weekly activities like Zumba and Hula Dancing Classes at the Salvation Army with her dear friends. Romana was a lifetime member of the Filipino Community of Salinas Valley and The Filipino Women’s Club of Salinas which she was The Founding President in 1984, including Past President, a member of the Barangay Lions Club and the Fil-Am Civic League of Salinas.
Romana especially loved flying back and forth to Hawaii spending time with her sons, daughter in laws, grandchildren and great grand children.
Romana was preceded in death by her husband, Medardo “Dan” Rocamora, her parents, Daniel and Ines Lagos, her siblings Lourdes Vea, Dr Andres Lagos, Esmerelda Ibadlit, and Carlos Lagos.
Romana is survived by her children: Richard (Jennifer) Rocamora, Randolph (Stephanie) Rocamora ; her grandchildren: Rebecca (Jon) Stroven, Kiyannah Rocamora (Peter Piho), her great grandchildren: Paxton & Kasen Piho, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 12pm-6pm with a Rosary Vigil at 4pm - 6pm,

Obituary Preview: On February 11, 1964, history recorded an event that forever changed the lives of Forrest and Earnie Murray. Making his debut on the world stage was none other than Kenneth Raye Murray. Born in Monterey, California, he was one of seven children born into this union of Love to his enamored parents. Kenneth was affectionately known as Franco by family members; he was also known as Kenny to friends and other family members. He grew up in Pacific Grove, California where he attended school, and graduated from Pacific Grove High School. Kenneth would go on to become an assistant football coach at PG High and later coach football at RLS.
Kenneth worked for the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District (MPUSD), he possessed a zeal for the welfare and direction of the youth in his community. He worked at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School, where he had a profound effect on the lives of countless youths. Kenneth accepted Christ at an early age and regularly attended Sunday School, Morning Worship, and BTU. Throughout his life he would attend Bay Area Wide District Associations along with various workshops and seminars. Also, he attended Andersonville Theological Seminary; he was an avid student of life, overcoming and conquering many of life’s darts and snares set for him.
Pastor Murray was a gentle giant who loved to help others, he lived his life as a testimony for others to see God’s work in him. He was a soldier of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his unselfish love, caring ways, nurturing heart, mentoring was imparted to any and everyone without respect of persons.
His love for the Pittsburgh Steelers was unshakeable, however his Love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was unbreakable. …And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Romans 10:15
Rev. Kenneth Raye Murray received his call to the Ministry in May 1992, under the Pastorate of Rev. G. E. Hooks, Pastor of Community Baptist Church in Pacific Grove, CA. While there he served as Co-Pastor from 2001-2004, he preached his first sermon on Resurrection Sunday during sunrise service title “There’s Life in the Grave.” He was later installed as Pastor of Community Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully until December 2008. He was later called back to Community Baptist as Interim Pastor. Rev. Murray was installed as the under shepherd at Ocean View Baptist Church of Seaside, CA., in 2015. On March 17, 2024, he preached his last earthly sermon titled, “Shake it Off.” Early Resurrection Sunday morning, March 31, 2024, at 2:32am, a perfect plan was developed by God for Kenneth to return home to Preach his first Heavenly Sermon. God designed the perfect play for him to receive the call and with it, the circle of life was complete. Pastor Murray was preceded in death by his father: Forrest Murray and sister Patricia Anderson:

He leaves to celebrate his eternal induction into the arms of our Lord and Savior his loving and faithful wife Bridgette Allen-Murray; 2 daughters: Latoya Allen and Shana Allen: Two nieces he helped raise: Catina McLin and Vantoinette Fraley: 3 grandsons, Zechariah, Zuriel and Zavan Alexander. His beloved Mother: Earnie Lee Murray: His brothers Forrest (Silvana) Murray and Frederick Murray: 3 Sisters: Carolyn Harper, Charlene Peffley and Paula (Tim) Kirkland. Sister-in law Robin Freeman, Brother-in law Elvis Don Porter; Father-in-law: Pastor Gabe Chaney. God Sisters: Alicia Metters, Doris Ellis, and Denise White. A special cousin A.D. Murray. Eulalia was a resident of Salinas for the last 60 years. She worked in the agriculture and frozen food industry and ultimately retired from Simplot. She was married to her loving husband for 67 years.
Eulalia was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a strong, hardworking Christian woman, famous for her good cooking and green thumb. Some of her passions were gardening, shopping and watching novelas. She always enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, and events where she could people watch. Eulalia’s 91 years on this earth were a gift to many, as she was beloved by her family, friends and neighbors alike.
She will be dearly missed by her loving children: Mary Perez, Ester Vasquez, Raul Perez Sr., Lucinda Murguia, Jose Perez Jr., Jesus Perez Sr., Antonio Perez, Marina Perez: 19 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jose P. Perez and grandchildren Raul Perez Jr. and Cynthia Avilez.
Though Lala is now in Heaven, her light will continue to shine forever and will always remain in our hearts. We are all very grateful for the time we were blessed to have with her.

He loved attending the Salinas CA Rodeo, his passion was gardening, listening to music and spending time with his loved ones. He was a resilient man who accepted life’s challenges without protests. He valued his family and devoted his life to us.
He will be missed by many. We will forever keep and take his life lessons with us during our lives journey.

He leaves behind many friends who dearly loved him. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. If someone needed help, he was always there. He will be sorely missed by all.
Visiting will be on Friday April 5 from 12-5 PM at Healey Mortuary. On Saturday, April 6th at 1:00 PM, graveside services will be held at Garden of Memories Memorial Park in the back area.

She enjoyed watching movies, spending time in the sun, staying in communication with family in and out of state, and spoiling her grandkids. She will always be remembered as a hard worker, a loving Nana and a Best Friend.

Like his father, Richard decided to join the US Army. From the time he enlisted in 1977 thru 1989, he served as a Senior Wheeled Mechanic and as a Driving Instructor, as secondary. He was a diligent, hardworking and a generous man.
Richard lived 55yrs of his fulfilling life in Salinas. A man with a big heart, well loved by his friends and family, especially by Jennifer, Sean, Sophia, Sevan and Angela.
He is survived by his childhood friend..who eventually became his wife..the love of his life for 42 years, Helen Nimuan Fortes. He is also survived by his siblings, Rudy Fortes of Coachella, Florence Fortes of Salinas, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
His passing was a great loss that brought deep sadness to everyone.
