She grew up with dreams to become a nurse in the medical field and achieved her goals by becoming a Registered Nurse throughout her life. She met Raymond Gatling and had her children Martha Johnson; Kenneth Johnson and Cyril Johnson. She lived on 225th in Springfield gardens for over 40 years where she raised her family and her grandchildren. Sybil was an active member at church and went above and beyond for anybody she knew.
I would remember her waking up at 6am to make breakfast for her husband and then walking 10 or more blocks just to get her grandchildren ready and took them to school. To this day I remember the sound of her voice calling us to wake up for school. Whether you needed a ride; someone to speak to or a favor she was always there. Sybil was outspoken but always showed her love towards everybody.
Even in her later days when her memory started to diminish her energy remained. She was a vibrant soul and loved by many but will never be forgotten. Sybil lived a long happy 91 years surrounded by her family and friends.

Louisa Carmela Venza - July 16, 1942 - November 17, 2023

Departed: 11/17/2023 (Meford)
Obituary Preview: Louisa Carmela Venza, née Del Bene, graced us with her presence on July 16, 1942 and sadly exited our lives on November 17, 2023. She was a loving and dedicated daughter of Italian immigrants for whom she chose to live near in order to take care of them. She was a member of the Elvis Presley Fan Club. She loved to dance, watch Gone With the Wind, and chat over a pot of coffee. Louisa had the ability to listen to three conversations at once and would remember every detail of what each person said, what they were wearing when they said it, and what the weather was when they said it. Nothing got past her.
Louisa will forever be adored by her loving husband, John, for whom she shared a lifetime in love, meeting him at the age of 15 and he at the age of 18. She spent her lifetime making sure that John knew how much she loved and cared about him. Louisa disappointed her high school teachers at Wheatley High School in Old Westbury when she chose to get married two weeks after her 18th birthday instead of going to college as she had the potential to do so. Instead, she wanted to make sure that she was home dedicating her time caring for her 3 children, John, Ronald, and Toni Ann because she remembered what it was like to be a latch key kid. Once her youngest was in high school, she began a childcare business, taking care of children as a nanny and dedicating herself to the families she worked for. Louisa was a natural-born caregiver, always making others feel comfortable. If you were sick, she was the one you wanted at your side. She went on to have 6 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Louisa will be in our hearts forever.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to inform friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a lasting tribute to the deceased, preserving their memory and legacy.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, a family member or close friend writes an obituary, although it can also be written by a funeral home or other authorized party. The writer should have personal knowledge of the deceased and be able to provide accurate information.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A standard obituary should include the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, and surviving family members. It may also include details about their occupation, hobbies, achievements, and any notable awards or recognition.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or online platform. Typically, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words.

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

The submission process varies depending on the publication or platform. Check their website or contact their customer service department for specific guidelines and deadlines.

Is there a cost associated with publishing an obituary?

What if I need to make changes to an already-published obituary?

Contact the publication or online platform where the obituary was published to request corrections or updates. They may have specific procedures for making changes.

Can I include humor or anecdotes in an obituary?

Absolutely! Including personal stories or humorous anecdotes can help capture the personality and spirit of the deceased, making the obituary more engaging and memorable.

Should I include information about charitable donations in lieu of flowers?

If the deceased or their family prefers donations to a specific charity instead of flowers, it's appropriate to include this information in the obituary.

Can I publish an obituary online only?
