Obituary Preview: Toni Cuccia Wild, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, stepped into eternity with Jesus on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024. She was 61 years old. However, she claimed she was only 43, because of a much younger heart she received in 2009, the result of a heart transplant. That’s how she rolled!
A celebration service, honoring her life, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Heritage Church, 3 Baracuda Drive, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Visitation will begin from 9:00 AM Saturday. She worked in several different places during her career, including stops in Louisiana, Oregon, and Virginia before settling in Hattiesburg in 1992. As an operating room nurse, she was passionate about her work. She considered herself “old school.” Her attention to the smallest of details and ability to learn each doctor’s unique preferences in the operating room earned her the respect of her colleagues.
Toni was a beloved member of Heritage Church, where she was active prior to her most recent illness. Toni had a radiant spirit that impacted people wherever she went. She faced multiple obstacles in her life, and always rose to the challenge. Over the past thirty two years, she overcame multiple bouts with breast and ovarian cancer, congestive heart failure, a heart transplant, and the sudden loss of a spouse in a horrific accident. In the face of life’s adversity, Toni responded with strength, grit, and an unwavering sense of optimism that transformed her into an incredible role model and mentor to others. Toni was recognized in 2012 as a national representative for the American Heart Association’s Go Red campaign.                  She also worked with various state organizations in Mississippi and Louisiana promoting organ donation, including Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency, Louisiana Organ Recovery Agency, and the Legacy Foundation of New Orleans. She also quietly worked with numerous individuals, giving of her time to provide knowledge, empathy and compassion to others
going through similar circumstances.
