Linda Christine Robinson - May 24, 1954 - February 29, 2024

Departed: 02/29/2024 (Brewerton)
Obituary Preview: In Loving Memory Linda C. Robinson February 29, 2024
Linda Christine Robinson, 69, of Cicero, NY; born to Francis and Alice Jay in Syracuse, N.Y. on May 24, 1954, passed away on February 29, 2024 in the comfort of her daughter’s home.
Linda was an avid writer; she worked tirelessly on and loved telling and writing short stories. She wrote many online blogs and enjoyed letting people read her written work.. She was an animal lover and went out of her way to do everything for them. We reminisced of the day that our mother, on one of our daily bicycle rides, stopped traffic in the middle of a road to rescue a baby turtle, and then held it in one hand to bring it back to safety to a pond several miles down the road while riding the bicycle. She was a bit of a fashionista and always wanted to (and did) look her best, from the fanciest clothes to her perfectly styled hair.
Linda graduated from Henniger High School; it was there that she met her future husband, Bill, who predeceased her less than two years ago. This year would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. Their bond was unlike any other and was far more than a marriage; they were inseparable. Linda left behind a legacy of love and attentiveness toward everyone that she met. She was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved riding motorcycles with her husband and taking walks in the parks with their dog JoJo.
After high school, she attended OCM Boces where she continued her education and later worked for Edgcomb Metals for many years before pursuing her passion for writing and her desire to spend more time with her family.
Mom, you are and will forever be sorely missed every day of our lives. You had such a caring way about you that you will never be forgotten. We love you and you are forever in our hearts.
Linda is survived by her son, Bill Robinson Jr., her daughter, Tracy Robinson, her grandsons Cameron Robinson and Zachary Robinson; granddaughter, Kayla Robinson, along with several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held privately. Arrangements are in care of Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9525 S. Main Street, Brewerton, NY.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's usually published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and acquaintances of the person's passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing important information to those who need to know about the funeral arrangements and other details. They can also be a therapeutic way for families to process their grief and share memories of their loved one.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family of the deceased or a close friend writes the obituary. Funeral homes and obituary writers may also assist with writing and publishing the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include funeral service details, charitable donation information, and any other relevant information.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Generally, it's recommended to keep it concise, around 100-200 words. However, some online platforms may allow for longer or more detailed obituaries.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can help personalize the tribute and make it more engaging for readers.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and deadlines. You may need to provide the written obituary, photo(s), and payment information.

Can I write my own obituary?

Yes, it's becoming increasingly popular for people to write their own obituaries before they pass away. This can be a therapeutic way to reflect on your life and ensure that your story is told accurately.

What is an online obituary?

An online obituary is a digital version of a traditional printed obituary. It's published on a website or social media platform, allowing friends and family to share condolences, memories, and photos with ease.

Are online obituaries free?

Some online platforms offer free obituaries, while others may charge a fee for premium features or extended publication periods. Funeral homes may also offer free online obituaries as part of their services.

How long do online obituaries stay online?

The duration varies depending on the platform or website. Some may keep them online indefinitely, while others may remove them after a certain period (e.g., 30 days). Be sure to check with the platform or funeral home for their specific policies.

Can I edit an online obituary?

Yes, most online platforms allow you to edit or update an obituary after it's been published. This can be useful if you need to correct errors or add new information.

How do I find an old obituary?

What is a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, often including only basic information such as name, age, and date of death. It's typically shorter than a full obituary.

What is the difference between an obituary and a eulogy?

An obituary is a written notice announcing someone's death and providing biographical information. A eulogy is a speech or written tribute delivered at a funeral or memorial service to celebrate the person's life and share personal anecdotes.

Can I include humor in an obituary?

Absolutely! Humor can be a great way to capture the personality and spirit of the deceased. Just be sure to consider the tone and audience when adding humorous elements.

How do I handle errors in an obituary?

If you notice errors in an already-published obituary, contact the publication or platform immediately to request corrections. They will guide you through their correction process.

Can I write an anonymous obituary?

In general, it's not recommended to write an anonymous obituary. Obituaries are meant to be a public tribute to the deceased, and anonymity may diminish their impact.

What if I'm unable to afford an obituary?

If cost is a concern, consider reaching out to local charities or organizations that provide assistance with funeral expenses. Some funeral homes may also offer discounted or free obituaries as part of their services.

Can I include quotes or lyrics in an obituary?

Yes! Quotes, lyrics, or poems can add depth and meaning to an obituary. Choose ones that resonate with the deceased's personality or interests.

How do I notify friends and family about an upcoming funeral service?

In addition to publishing an obituary, consider creating a Facebook event or group chat to notify friends and family about funeral arrangements. You can also use email or phone calls for more personal notifications.

Can I create a memorial website instead of publishing an obituary?

Yes! Memorial websites are becoming increasingly popular as a way to celebrate someone's life and share memories with others. They can be created independently or through funeral homes' services.

What if I want to keep the funeral private?

If you prefer not to publish an open invitation for the funeral service, you can still write an obituary without including funeral details. Alternatively, you can create a private memorial website for close friends and family only.
