Linda Castle Hagar - June 29, 1946 - April 15, 2024

Departed: 04/15/2024 (Loris)
Obituary Preview: Longs, SC
Linda Gail Castle Hager began her journey in this world on June 29, 1946. She started her footprint in Kingsport, Tennessee. Over the years, she has touched so many people in so many different ways, with her loving, helpful, comforting soul. She loved her family like no other, her children especially. Over the years, she developed many different names for herself, the first one being “Mom”.
Linda has three biological children: Laverne Church Vandegrift, Lawrence Church, Jr., and Lisa Church Frederick; they are listed in order from oldest to youngest. She decided she wasn’t finished spreading her motherly love. She also had two adopted daughters: Chelsie Church and Ashley Vega. Sadly, Ashley passed away in 2021.
“Nanny” was her preferred name of contact. Nanny was the matriarch of our family. If anybody needed anything- food, a place to stay, a good conversation, or a shoulder to cry on- one could always count on Nanny, right or wrong. When Nanny found a fondness in someone, they would always feel safe and secure. She had a way of making one feel invincible, so that nothing could ever or would ever get through her strong force field of love and protection.
She put her husband, Donald Lee Hager, to rest on January 31, 2016. She devoted over thirty years of her life to caregiving to the love of her life. Sadly, Donald was in a car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury that left him unable to care for himself. Nanny stepped up to the plate on several occasions when she didn’t have to. She was truly a force to be reckoned with. The impact and devotion she has shown in her life gives hope that humanity is truly capable of making this world a better place.
Linda had a flamboyant personality that became more apparent when one of her favorite songs was played. If someone was around her, they would know exactly where the party was; it was her. In her younger years, she had a true passion for woodworking, she was quite crafty.
Linda will be truly missed and will never be forgotten by the ones she has left behind. She won her battle with dementia and unlocked her ultimate freedom on April 15, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family at her home in Longs, SC. She grew her wings and left this world for her next journey.
Linda’s legacy will be carried on by her children: Laverne Church Vandegrift (Richie Vandegrift), Lawrence Church, Jr. (Patricia Gibson), Lisa Church Frederick (Tarver Sammons), Chelsie Church (Joseph Williams), her grandchildren: Jamie Livingston (Ryan Livingston), Danielle Perry Miller (Chris Miller), Jay Kline, Daniel Perry, Jr., Brandi Church, Lawren Church (Dallas Brazee), Lawrence Kelly Church, Rebecca Frederick Morris (Matthew Morris), Ernest Frederick (Samantha Redeen), Bianca Hardee, Colleen McGaw, and Emily Frederick, and her great-grandchildren: Arianna, Marcus, Mason, Austin, Dillion, Dalton, Drake, Jaxon, Harley, Cameron, Brice, Madelyn, Kylee, Shane, Lillie, Andrew, DJ, Zy”an, and Bernadette.
Mrs. Linda Hager was welcomed to heaven with open arms by her husband, Donald Lee Hager, her father, Ralph Castle, Sr., her mother, Virginia Rucker Castle, her sisters Brenda Castle, Carol Castle, and Darlene Castle, her brother, Jerry Castle, her adoptive daughter, Ashley Vega, and her grandson Willie Lowry.
We love you nanny.
Memorial services will be private. Please sign Mrs. Hager’s online guestbook at hardwickfuneralhome.com or call Hardwick Funeral Home at 843-756-7001 for further information.

Margie Alice Hawkins Forrest - June 22, 1939 - March 16, 2024

Departed: 03/16/2024 (Loris)
Obituary Preview: Raleigh, North Carolina
Margie Alice Hawkins Forrest, age 84, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024. She left this earthly realm exactly 8 years to the day after her faithful husband of 56 years, Robert L Forrest passed.
Margie, born in Wake County on June 22, 1939, to the late Roy Eugene Hawkins and Lois Nova Holt Hawkins, was a resident of Raleigh NC for most of her life. She worked at Dairy Records on NC State University Campus for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ on Falls of Neuse Rd in Raleigh.
Robert and Margie had a great life together. They married very young, both loved traveling and exploring new places, boating, water skiing, riding horses, motorcycles, RV camping, good food, and flying across the country in their single engine Cessna. They had two children at a very young age, and usually included them in their escapades. Margie especially loved visiting various places in the beautiful mountains of NC and Tennessee, and they spent many summer vacations there with family. Back in the 1960’s before it was a common occurrence to see a woman riding her own motorcycle, Margie could sometimes be seen riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle alongside Robert on his Harley.
Margie had a great sense of humor and loved to play jokes on friends and family, most of the pranks were played on her patient and devoted husband Robert. She loved spending time with her children, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She loved the outdoors, plants, flowers, animals, babies, and old gospel hymns. She was a homemaker, and an amazing self-taught seamstress.
Margie was always more than happy to help anyone in need, and looked out for the elderly, sick, and needy, whether it be delivering home cooked meals, a helping hand, or a visit with a smile. She lived up to what she always aspired most to be, her idea of a good Christian woman. Some people make the world a better place by being in it, Margie was one of those people.
She will be missed by many. She is survived by son Robert Lee Forrest Jr. and his life partner Tanya Harwood of Cherry Grove SC; daughter Robbie Forrest of Raleigh NC; three loving grandchildren, Adam Forrest, Mara Jones (Zachary), and Renlee Forrest; brother Darvey Hawkins; Sister-in- law, Patricia Hawkins; sister-in-law Loretta Hawkins; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her younger brother Larry Eugene Hawkins; sister-in law Elizabeth Jackson; brother-in-law Bill Forrest
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Raleigh NC. Please feel free to sign Margie’s online guestbook at hardwickfuneralhome.com or call Hardwick Funeral Home at 843.756.7001 for further information.
