Obituary Preview: Betty Jo Harris passed peacefully from this life the evening of April 5, 2022 after a gradual decline in health.  She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.
She was born in this city on February 19, 1929 to the late Anna Lou Davis and to the late Andrew Harris.  She preceded in death by other beloved relatives.
Ms. Harris accepted Christ at an early age under the guidance of Pastor Ed Angel and was faithful and dedicated member of St Elmo Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined.  She served as Church Clerk, Usher Board Sunday School, and a true friend forever.  A Howard High graduate of class of 1946 and attended A & I (TSU) for two years in Nashville, TN.
She retired from Zayre Department store after working 17 years in the snack bar (the best hamburger ever) and also a former employee of Bonds Drug and Snack Shop.
The best and loved God-mother to Misty TJ Wilson.
Left to cherish her memories beloved cousin and caregiver, JoAnn Davis along with JoAnn children, Maurice (Andrinna) Davis of Chattanooga, and Darrin (Tamara) Davis of Florida. Devoted cousins Tekelia (Mack) Kelly, Dorothea (Walter) Johnson, Kimberly (Donald) Boles, Valerie Davis, Demetrius Crutcher, Theresa Jones, Marva (James) Vance and Jerri Ann Davis, all of Chattanooga Barbara Davis, Atlanta, GA and Tony Weaver, Atlanta, GA.  and host of other cousins and friends.
Public viewing will be held on April 20, 2022 – time 12:00 -5:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

Obituary Preview: Anne Finley Roberts, 102, departed this life on Wednesday March 30, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. Anne was born on May 16,1919 to Eloise Hinton in Summerville (Marion County) GA.
Upon moving to Chattanooga with her family she attended school and graduated from Howard High School and Chattanooga City College formally known as Zion College. Anne was an avid seamstress and interior decorator. After receiving her degree, she served many years as bookkeeper and treasurer at Howard School (k-12) until her retirement. Anne was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church -East Eight Street until her health prevented regular attendance. She was one of the founding members of the Ladies Guild Club at the Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Wilbert R Roberts, Sr. parents Eloise Hinton Clark (Clarence) and parents in-law Queen Roberts (Willie) son Wilbert R Roberts, Jr. son -in- law James A Anderson and grandson Kermit Lee.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Anita R Lee (Burrell) Vine Grove Ky. Mildred R Anderson, Ingrid R Denson, daughter -in- law, Barbara Lindsey Roberts, granddaughter Karen Denson- Hayes, Marietta, GA., grandson Kelvin Anderson, great-grandson Sergeant-Specialist Kenneth J Hayes (Naomi) Marietta, GA, and great great-granddaughter Zoriyah Hayes, Marietta, GA, and a host of relatives and friends. Family is asking memorial contributions be made to 506 East Eight Street in Anne’s memory instead of flowers. Graveside services will be at National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 13th 2022 at 2:00pm. Body will lie in state at First Baptist Church (East Eight Street) from 11:00pm-1:00pm.

Adrine Ellsworth Bonner - February 20, 1947 - February 14, 2022

Adrine was born in Chattanooga, TN on February 20, 1947 and died on February 14, 2022. He was the first of three children born to Elman and Elizabeth Sims Bonner both of whom preceded him in death.
He is a graduate of Riverside High School and McKenzie Business College.
Adrine served honorably in the United States Army and was discharged in like manner. Sergeant Bonner was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. Among his medals are the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal and the Air Medal.
Adrine and Geraldine Colvin were united in holy matrimony on August 23, 1975 and were blessed and favored to share an amazing 46 years together.
He worked in excess of forty years. Some of his employers were: Signal Knitting Mills, Chattanooga, TN; United Parcel Service, Livonia, MI; Salm Carpet Mills, Ringgold, GA, and Alstom Powers formerly Combustion Engineering, Chattanooga, TN. He retired from Alstom Powers in 2006. At the time, he was sergeant of the company’s security force.
Adrine was faithful in The Church of the Living God for more than 30 years. He loved the Church and served wherever the need was greatest. His last appointment was preacher for the congregation.
He loved people and enjoyed making them smile and laugh. People returned the love. They genuinely enjoyed spending time with him.
In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Bonner and lifetime dear friend Mr. Wilbert Weaver.
Adrine is survived by his wife, Geraldine Colvin Bonner; daughter, Sherry Meshon Bonner, Midville, GA; brother, Albert Hitchcock, Chattanooga, TN and sister, Audrey (Allen) Crawley, Waynesboro, VA.
Others left to cherish his memories are grandchildren, nephews, a niece, aunts, an uncle, cousins, and many beloved friends.
His loving spirit will be sorely missed by many of the lives he touched.

Obituary Preview: Miss Mildred Katheryn Juliuette Kimbro passed at the age of 93, in her home on Sunday, November 28, 2021.   She was born January 6, 1928 to the late Mr. Julius Alexander Kimbro and Mrs. Will Anna Kimbro Kendrick.  She was the 2nd youngest of 7 siblings and the last survivor of the group.  She graduated from Howard High School - class of 1946. She confessed her faith and joined New Monumental Baptist Church under Rev. William C. Upshaw.  She has been a faithful  member of the church for over 70 years.  She served on the Usher Board and other auxiliary ministries, as well. Miss Kimbro proudly worked for Tennessee Valley Authority for over 35 years as a Map Maker.  She often recounted stories of how her maps instructed  soldiers on the location of the demarcation lines during the war.  During her tenure there she received many awards and accolades for her service. She leaves to cherish her memories: Nephews and Nieces - Harold Durham of San Antonio, Texas; Harold Moore; Tracy Moore both of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Constance Sharpe of Elmira, New York; Brother-in-law, Wilbert Moore; Niece-in-law,  Anne Berry Moore both of Chattanooga Tennessee; a host of great nieces and nephews including:  Judy Durham, Christine Black, Philip Durham, all of Cleveland, Ohio; Ronald Durham of Ypsilanti, Michigan;  and Catina Smith of San Antonio, Texas. Wilbert R Roberts, Jr. - December 12, 1939 - September 21, 2021

He was the son of the late Wilbert R. Roberts, Sr. and Anne Finley Roberts.  He was predeceased by a special nephew, Kermit Lee.
Wilbert graduated from Howard High School and received BS and MS degrees from Tennessee State University.
Wilbert was married for 48 years to Barbara Ann Lindsey Roberts.
Wilbert served Chattanooga Public Schools as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and Director of Special Programs and Student Placement.  He retired in 1994.   Having a love of serving others in a time of need, Wilbert volunteered and worked part-time at Hardwick and Sons Funeral Home where he was a tremendous comfort to bereaved families.
Wilbert served on numerous boards of directors, including the Hamilton County Election Commission and the Chattanooga Housing Authority.   He was an active member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and member of the audioministry.  He was a charter member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
Wilbert leaves to cherish his memory:  his loving wife, Barbara Lindsey Roberts; his dear mother, Anne Finley Roberts; three devoted sisters,  Anita R. (Burrell) Lee, (Vine Grove, KY),  Mildred R. Anderson, and Ingrid R. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 2000 Jackson Street.

Tyrone had a love for carpentry, working on cars, music, motorcycles, speed, and being well dressed. His work experience included working for the City of Chattanooga of Public Works where he retired after 26 years of service.
Tyrone is missed and survived by a devoted wife of 42 years, Robbin Toran Lamb, caring children, Michelle (Michael) Robinson, Tyrone (Tiffany) Lamb, Jr., Anita Jones, Brian (Melisha) Billups, all of Chattanooga. He had 13 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild, brothers, Robert (Angela) Lamb, Jeffrey (Alice) Lamb, sister, Venita Lamb Reel, sisters-in-law Sheila (Michael) Dixon, Ruby Cheryl Byrd, a host of nieces and nephews, dear friend, Roy (Elanora) Muller and a host of other family and friends. In addition, she earned a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling also from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN.
Ms. Henrietta was known as a talented seamstress and loved cooking and baking. She was once awarded the Betty Crocker Award. Henrietta was also known as a giver and possessed the spirit of generosity. She believed that everyone should have a gift.
Ms. Henrietta Cross was a lifelong member of Mount Paran Missionary Baptist Church. In later years Ms. Henrietta worshipped with New United Baptist Church and the wonderful Washington Hills United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Walter H. Cross, Sr. and Mrs. Minnie Huling Cross of Chattanooga, TN.
Survived to mourn her passing, brother, Rev. Walter H. Cross, Jr and sister-in-law Rev. Angela M. Hardy Cross, Knoxville, TN, beloved nephew Mr. Walter E. (Eboni) Cross and their son Walter E. Cross II (Atlanta, GA), cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Sterlina Brady of Nashville, TN, the Honorable Elijah Huling of Baldwin, New York, Ms. Edie Whoo of Los Angeles, CA, the Hudson, Cross, Gustus, and Sims cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was born January 6, 1927 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Oscar and Rosa Lee Felton.  Lorene made Chattanooga her home in her teenage years and accepted Christ as her Savior and united with Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully attended and served for many years until her health failed.  She was recognized as a Mother of her church in 2014 and recognized for 40+ years of faithful service in 2015.  Lorene graduated from Howard High School in 1946.  She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and retired in 1984 from Erlanger after serving almost 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Rosa Mae Gillom and brother-in-law, Robert Gillom Sr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving and devoted daughter, Rosanna Clark of Chattanooga; a loving a devoted grandson, Johnathan (Jamie) Clark; great-grandson Isaiah Clark; great-granddaughter Emery Rose Clark; all of Chandler, Arizona; devoted nieces Betty Hawkins, Lena Ramsey, and Thelma Gillom; devoted nephews Robert Gillom, Jr. and Edward Gillom; all of Chattanooga; a host of great-nephews, great-nieces; cousins; other friends and church family.

Mr. Walker was a man that loved the Lord and his family. Helping others was something he taught not only to his children and grandchildren, but all that had a chance to come in contact with him. He was a very hard-working individual and his work ethic, which was impressive, reflected that. During his lifetime he worked several jobs including two jobs for 15 years to support his family. Later he worked at American Manufacturing for 30 years in various roles and functions.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, John and Cora Walker, loving wife, Eula Mae Walker, daughter, Edith A. Ferebee and grandson, Karlyn Ferebee II.
Survivors include his three sons: Aaron (Angel) Walker, Jr., Alfred Walker, Andrew (Gaylin) Walker, grandchildren, Aaron (Trenette) Walker III, Anthony Walker, Cedric Walker, Demetra (Terrance) Allen, Harris (Jasmine) Walker, Gwendolyn Avery, Maria Avery, Leviticus Avery, Ronald Swift, Graylin Walker, and Gabriel Walker, a host of great-grandchildren, brothers, Thomas Walker, Surfside, SC, James Henry Walker, Tampa Bay, FL, and sister, Queen Fields, Newark, NJ.
A special thanks to all those who provided care and opened up their hearts to our father. And a special thanks to Angel Walker and others for their open minds and open hearts. Dad will be greatly missed by family and those who knew him and loved him. Many people walk in and out of your life, but people like dad will leave footprints on your heart forever.

She was born the only daughter to the late Helen Johnson Barkley Mullins and Joe Barkley. Growing up with her half-brother “CL” and her large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins she was a happy child full of life, laughter, and lit up the room with her charm. Barbara Faye's mother later married John Mullins fondly and lovely called “Daddy John” by her.
She completed her education graduating from Howard High School. Her high school sweetheart was Alfred but they never married. She married Edward Floyd to this union were no children. This marriage was dissolved.
At an early age her spiritual journey began and she was baptized and joined St. Elmo Baptist Church. Later Barbara and her mother joined St. Paul A.M.E Church.  It was there that she came into full bloom.
Barbara served as the Immediate Past President of the Ester Dungeon Missionary Society until she took ill. She also faithfully served as a Stewardess and monthly assisted with communion, sharply dressed from head to toe in white.
A true songbird, she was a member of the Senior Choir, Gospel Choir and the Payton McCallie Sims Inspirational Choir. She was often a featured soloist blessing family and friends with her lovely gift of song.
Retiring from Blue Cross & Blue Shield after 25 years of service and then later her love for children bringing her to work at Granny’s Baby Day Care Center where she found an abundance of love from young Jamiyah Collins and her mom Rikita Halfacre.
Barbara Faye completed her course on Thursday Jan. 28, 2021 after succumbing to a fatal heart attack and months of illness.
She is survived a host of loving family members and friends. Including her Aunt Betty Jean Ray and cousins Lorretta, Sherial Faye (Tommy) Campbell and Virginia Stafford.
In her later years she was blessed to have young cousins Ivan (Salina) and Nathan (Terri) Roshell the grandsons of her beloved “Aunt Ethel” to care and look after her as well as those special ones that she loved and loved her.
Barbara Faye loved her family and many relatives, her love also spread to others outside of the family like her faithful friends Alberta Gilbert, Elluwead Love, Cynthia Walker, Rikita Halfacre and Tharyl Brown and many special others dear to her. Dear Sweet Barbara Faye, Rest in Peace

His favorite gospel song was “Amazing Grace.” He believed in family and wanted a strong, caring unit for his family. Charles played the acoustic guitar and was a very good singer. He was a man of wisdom and was happy to share his knowledge and experiences to benefit others. He was a man of mild temperament and enjoyed political banter with his daughter. Charles leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughters, Joyce (Morris) Dawson, Delores (Larkin) Lloyd, Mylene (Ferris) Flippin, Pauline Evans, LaShanda Cummings, Agnes Brown and Nellie Jackson; son, Andre’ D.
