Edward A. Singleton - September 16, 1953 - March 19, 2022

Departed: 03/19/2022 (Plainfield)
Obituary Preview: Edward Allen Singleton, 68 of Plainfield, lost his battle with cancer on March 19, 2022. Despite the trials and tribulations that life had handed him over the past three years, he fought until the end. He even traveled with his loving spouse to their favorite vacation spot in North Carolina in his last year. They enjoyed road trips throughout their lives, traveling together from the East Coast to the Rocky Mountains frequently. While he enjoyed cars, motorcycles, and playing golf, one of his favorite hobbies was trying new foods. He was a true food connoisseur, but one that sought complex flavors and new tastes in the hole-in-the-wall local dives over fine dining establishments. This took him to some very interesting places, and he frequently brought his family along for the ride.
Edward was born on September 16, 1953, in Indianapolis to the late Audrey Lucille (Allen) and Carl Edward Singleton, Jr.  He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Debra S. Randall, on October 22, 1977; they celebrated 43 years of marriage together. Edward and his wife supported each other through thick and thin, while raising their three children. There was no topic that he was not interested in, and his adventurous spirit and quizzical mind was passed on to his children. He loved listening to other’s life experiences and witnessing their journeys. He never met a stranger.
Edward was a carpenter for over 40 years and built residential houses all over central Indiana, as well as several churches. He was a dedicated and loyal person. When it came to work, he was honest and fair. With his friends and family, he was loyal and giving. Ed was always there for people when needed.
Survivors include his wife, Debra S. Singleton; children, Ryan Singleton (Necia), Courtney Singleton, and Nathan Singleton (Amber); siblings, Judy Jeffries and Joseph Singleton (Jackie); and three grandchildren, Madelynn, Grayson, and Zenley.

Robert Wendell George - July 13, 1936 - January 16, 2022

Departed: 01/16/2022 (Plainfield)
Obituary Preview: Our beloved Dad, Robert Wendell George, known to most as “Bob George”, and to many of his friends as “Bobby”, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the age of 85.  He passed suddenly and peacefully after spending multiple days during the holiday season with his kids, grand-kids, and great grandchildren!
Bob was born July 13, 1936 in Bedford, Indiana to Audrey (Correll) and Earl W. George. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1954, and married Malinda Jones in 1958.  Together they had 5 children and moved to Vincennes in 1962 where he became a licensed Insurance Agent.  He worked for Traveler’s Insurance and then helped build Reed & George Insurance Agency. Bob found his niche in the trucking industry, and after Mr. Reed’s retirement, he started Robert George & Associates, where later his son Rob, and eventually his daughter, Terri joined him. Bob was known to be the life of the party and a barrel of laughs, but he also had a kind, generous heart. In addition to the people he helped, he never met a dog he didn’t love.  He contributed to the Pet Port and Humane Society regularly but more than that, he was almost never seen without a box of dog bones in his car to share with his canine friends, and was known to bring home more than a couple of strays! Bob was a member of the Free Methodist Church and then the First Baptist, and an active member of the Elks Country Club for many years. His hobbies were few, but his interest in them strong.  He enjoyed time with his family, kids, and grandkids, and in his later years, he smiled the biggest when he was with his two great grandsons.  He loved golf, playing cards with friends at the Elks, traveling to Fort Lauderdale, and making life fun and funny!
Bob was diagnosed with bilateral acoustic neuromas in 1999.  Surgery in 2006 resulted in side effects including deafness, but despite the inability to live his full life after surgery, Bob never lost his sense of humor.  Two quotes he continually shared with his children were, “This too shall pass”, and “It could always be worse.”  No matter the situation, Bob could find humor in it and make everyone else laugh. Bob is survived by, (his words), his “favorite oldest daughter” Terri (Rick) Farmer, “favorite son” Rob (Tammy) George, “favorite youngest daughter” Heidi (Jamie) Coffey Davis, and their mother, Malinda (Paul) Fish.  Other loving family members surviving include his sweet sister Linda (Don) Moore, his oldest granddaughter Hailee Elizabeth (Logan) Vieck, grandsons Taylor Robert George, Tanner L. George Daniel, and Kingston Coffey, cherished great grandsons, Greyson Daniel and Jones Vieck, nieces Amy (Josh) Grill & Cindy George, and special family Macee (Josh) Braun and family, Madison Heiden, and Mallory Heiden,
Bob is preceded in death by his twin infant daughters Kathy Lynn and Kimberly Ann George, devoted mother, Audrey Stanley and stepfather Sterling, his Dad Earl George, and his older brother Bill George. To keep everyone healthy, a private family service will be held at Mariah Creek Christian Church

Larry Leon Straley - December 24, 1936 - January 08, 2022

Departed: 01/08/2022 (Plainfield)
Obituary Preview: Larry Leon Straley, 85, of Plainfield, passed away in his home Saturday, January 8, 2022.  He was born December 24, 1936 in Bryant, Indiana, to Steve and Anna May Straley.  He leaves behind two daughters, Elizabeth Straley of West Lafayette, Kathy Straley Strickler (Steve) of Bloomington; one grandson, Trevor Strickler; and two cousins, Keith Huey and Becky Fifer.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ron and sister, Janice.
Larry was a proud graduate of Purdue University and closely followed Purdue Football and Basketball.  He greatly enjoyed his younger years teaching at North Miami High School and tending to his small farm, raising sheep, corn and alfalfa.  Larry left teaching and farming to wrangle a squad of farm implements salespeople who became close friends.  In his later years he directed his attention to grading nationwide standardized tests.
Larry was never happier than when he was outdoors, hunting, fishing, observing wildlife or simply breathing the fresh air.  He especially enjoyed his fly-fishing trips in the summers to Montana with his grandson, Trevor.  When he was unable to enjoy the wilderness, he sated his appetite for it vicariously by reading.  He subscribed to “Fur, Fish and Game” and his favorite book was “The Man-Eaters of Tsavo”.
Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements.  No memorial services are currently planned.  In the springtime, an ash-scattering ceremony may be set up.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana DNR.
