Inez (Rhynes) Agee - April 20, 1933 - December 23, 2023

Departed: 12/23/2023 (Sulphur)
Obituary Preview: Hedy Inez (Rhynes) Agee passed peacefully on December 23rd, 2023, and was reunited with the love of her life, Calvin, just in time for Christmas. Born on April 20th, 1933, in Lamar, Arkansas, Inez was a child of the dust bowl, moving with her family to California in search of a better life before being called back home to Oklahoma. Upon their return, her father founded Rhynes Surplus Store in Ada. Inez graduated from Ada High School in 1952 and studied Drama and the Arts at East Central University in Ada. Inez took a chance on a swing-dance class at ECU and while she had a full dance card, there was a particular, tall and handsome dance partner named Calvin that swept her off her feet. They married on October 1st, 1954, and spent a remarkable 68 years together.
Inez was a supportive and encouraging spouse, moving with her husband to Wayne, Pawnee, and Konawa, Oklahoma where he taught and coached. They welcomed a son, Clifford, and daughter, Pam, which shifted her focus to raising her children with love and care. In 1965 the family moved to Sulphur where Calvin served as Superintendent of Sulphur Public Schools for more than 23 years. Inez was a pillar of his success; attending ball games, proms, graduations and dozens of other school events annually. She was always by his side and was a loyal and true Sulphur Bulldog throughout the rest of her years. In fact, she loved Sulphur Schools and the Bulldogs so much that in her seventies she began substitute teaching at the high school and continued to do so well into her eighties.
In 1983 she and Calvin welcomed their first grandchild. Soon after, four more grandkids followed, and Inez quickly learned that was the job she loved the most – being a grandma and earning the title “Nene.” She made it her life’s work to support and love her grandkids; collecting all the mementos, certificates, and newspaper clippings for their scrapbooks. Sometimes it was tough love she gave, but the grandkids always knew Nene loved them and would do anything to support their endeavors. She was even more thrilled to welcome and love on six great-grandchildren.
Inez was a prideful woman who lived with dignity and honor. She went to the hair salon every week, never missing an appointment despite bad weather, pandemics, or difficult life events. She was a lifelong Estee Lauder Cosmetics customer and was never seen in public without her make-up on and her hair fixed. She loved shopping and enjoyed keeping her fashions current and stylish. Later in life she was seldom without her iPhone or iPad, adopting new technologies to FaceTime the grandkids, watch her shows, paint-by-numbers, and keep up with friends and family on Facebook. She loved to travel with her husband and together they visited every state in the Union and multiple countries. She met many friends during her travels and maintained those special friendships through to the end of her life.
Inez was a strong, Christian woman. She loved the Lord and was redeemed by His grace. She greatly enjoyed her time with First Free Will Baptist Church and took delight in attending weekly bible study and giving the pastor a hard time at every turn. She was a loyal member of the Sulphur Sorosis Club and looked forward to hosting the club in her home on Country Club Drive. She lived with a zeal for life and loved to greet friends and family with a hug.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Calvin Agee, parents; Dennis and Velma Ann (Belling) Rhynes, sister; Mary Burnett, and brother; Kenneth Rhynes. She is survived by her son, Clifford and daughter-in-law Terri; her daughter, Pamela Ann (Agee) Chitwood and son-in-law Fred; five grandchildren, Lauren (Agee) Johnson and husband, Boone, Luke Agee and wife Laura, Ross Chitwood and fiancé Zachary Kemper, Bryce Chitwood, and Tanner Chitwood; six great-grandchildren, Kenleigh Johnson, Addison Johnson, Maggie Johnson, Camden Chitwood, Blayke Chitwood, and her husband’s namesake, Calvin Agee. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all the teachers she worked with during her time as a substitute teacher.
A celebration of life for Inez will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Sulphur with Pastor Dick Terry officiating.
As we celebrate her sweet life, in lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to the Calvin Agee Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations can be made to Sulphur Public Schools, Attn: Calvin Agee Memorial Scholarship Fund, 1021 West 9th Street, Sulphur, OK 73086. We feel there is no better way to honor her than by doing something for the students of the school she loved.

Obituary Preview: Effie Bernice (Collins) West was born March 24, 1924, in Baum, OK, to the late Jesse Homer & Velma Myrl (Sampley) Collins. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 15, 2023, in Sulphur, at the age of 99 years, 3 months and 21 days. She and J.W. West were united in marriage on July 25, 1941, in Murray County. From this union were born three daughters Kaye, Karol and Marilyn.
Bernice lived 99 years fulfilling the roles of a loving wife, Mother, Nanny/Grandma, daughter, sister, friend, member of this community that she loved…and most importantly a Child of God! She has played each of these roles well! Her family was blessed to observe how quietly and gently she managed “life.” She had such strength, yet so humble and full of grace and wisdom. . . a role model for those who knew her.
Faith was her foundation and the church family was of utmost importance. She was fully committed to her God for basically her entire lifetime and was a prayer warrior for family, friends, and her country. Bernice’s prayers were conversational, purposeful, full of faith, and lasted as long as they “needed” to last.
Her heart of compassion showed she cared by faithfully caring for her husband after an accident for 18 years, even though she was told it was not possible to care for him at home.
Bernice was a fabulous cook and baker that provided her family and others with amazing “food fun” even for son-in-laws who graciously received their personal pie favorite! During the “hobo era,” you would find her preparing sack lunches to pass out at our back door. Bernice made holidays special with decorations, food, gifts, and especially welcoming everyone “home”! If someone needed a holiday home, she welcomed them, also. The family grew…the house didn’t …but it always worked for years! She was an avid reader, a seamstress, a gardener, lover of flowers…Hallmark movies …TBN channel…and road trips! She believed in healthy communication and maintaining relationships. She was great at phone calls and even evolved to texting her children and grandchildren using a splash of emojis to make it fun or add a touch of humor. Exercising and riding her stationary bike ten miles every day for years was a priority! Bernice was a joy to know, a blessing to be loved by her, and an honor to have a relationship with her!
Survivors include her three daughters, Kaye Fullerton of Davis, Karol Day & husband Glenn of Tulsa, and Marilyn Caldwell & husband Randy of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Dale Fullerton & wife Andria, Rhonda Staggs & husband Kevin, Jeremy Fullerton & wife Melissa, Amber Day Clausen & husband Jeff, Brandon Day & wife Heather, Ryan Caldwell & wife Hope, and Blake Caldwell & wife Alex; eighteen great-grandchildren, Hunter Fullerton & wife Kourtney, Mason Fullerton, Josh Clark, Hannah Saunders, Tyner Kennedy & wife Maddy, Rylie Farmer & husband Justin, Abbie Staggs, Weston Fullerton, Gracie Fullerton, Caitlin Day, Barrett Day, Bella Clausen, Easton Caldwell, Carter Caldwell, Hayes Caldwell, Cavner Caldwell, Liam Caldwell, and Gabriel Caldwell; four great-great grandchildren, Reece Farmer, Jaxon Farmer, London Kennedy, and Gunnar Kennedy; sister, Doris Stoltzfus; sister-in-law, Bonnie Collins; as well as her beloved church family, and numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends.

Edward Gerard Monjay, II - April 15, 1965 - July 04, 2023

Departed: 07/04/2023 (Sulphur)
Obituary Preview: Edward G. Monjay, II, known by many as Eddie, was born April 15, 1965, in Oklahoma City, to Lesley Joe Edd and Margaret “Marty” Monjay. He died Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in Oklahoma City, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 58. As the family returned home after Eddie’s passing, they were blessed to witness a beautiful rainbow, which gave them a peaceful reminder of God’s eternal promises.
Growing up in Sulphur, Eddie attended Sulphur Public Schools. Throughout his younger years, he was known for building rockets, which often delighted his friends, but unfortunately, not his neighbors. He had a dream of becoming an Astronaut, but due to an accidental fall on his back, he would not qualify. While in high school, Eddie maintained a firm position on the Honor Roll. He excelled in Computers, Science and Art. He was also active in 4-H and Art Club, as well as wrestling and football, lettering in both sports.
After graduating from Sulphur High School, Eddie continued his education at East Central University, where he studied computers and completed his basics, while being on the Deans Honor Roll. After East Central, Eddie spent a year in Seminary School in Dallas, TX, prior to attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where he earned three degrees: Computer Engineering, Architecture Engineering and Mathematics. After being told by his dad to choose “ONE,” Eddie chose to pursue a career in Computer Engineering. During his time at OSU, he was on the Deans Honor Roll, Honor Society Roll, as well as active in two fraternities, one for academic achievement and the other for fellowship.
After graduating from OSU, Eddie began his working career with Motorola in the Dallas area. He was lead on the engineering team that developed the Smart computer watch, which they sold to Apple. From Motorola, Eddie went to work with Lockheed-Martin in Dallas, where he was lead engineer on reprogramming F-16 Fighter Jets, as well as other major projects for them.
Leaving Lockheed-Martin, Eddie became self-employed, doing development and reprogramming all over the US. Some of his work included redesigning and programming computers for the government in Washington DC, HUD, US Post offices and many others. His final work in computer engineering was with Gainwell Technologies, where he worked as the team lead to design and reprogram the Maryland Judicial system's computer, and the I-Phone operating systems.
In the final years of his life, Eddie developed a passion for writing. He wrote nineteen books about the bible, physical abuse, rape victims, mothers, overcoming losses and many more. His superb writing skills landed him on New Yorks Best Sellers list three separate times with his latest books. Eddie’s books are available on Amazon. The week prior to becoming ill, he was scheduled to do radio interviews and book tours. The family will continue his writing legacy, by publishing the remaining books that Eddie had written. He was known for sharing his love for the Bible with anyone. When asked by his mother why he was working so hard on his books, he said, “God told me what to write and that I didn’t have much time.” Of course, his family did not realize he had such little time left on earth. In their earthly thinking, they thought he meant time to get them to print.
Eddie was a member of the Reformed Jewish Church. He had a heart for the lost and hungry Jewish people and supported them tirelessly. He LOVED the Lord with all his heart, soul and might. He would share it if someone inquired why he would not participate in activities he felt God would be disappointed in. Eddie would never fuss or be upset with anyone over their beliefs, but held strong to his own, as if God were there watching.
His heart was happy. During his illness, Eddie never complained. Although he had pain and his body was failing him, he never gave up. He simply accepted his illness and felt God knew best and found peace in the Holy Spirit.

Calvin Clifford Agee - September 05, 1931 - April 28, 2023

Departed: 04/28/2023 (Sulphur)
Obituary Preview: I was born on a hot day on the 5th of September, 1931 in Pontotoc County, west of Ada, Oklahoma to my parents, Emmett and Lillian (Moss) Agee. I passed from this earth on April 28th, 2023. I started my education in a one-room school in Worstell and little did I know, I would be working in education for some 70 plus years. We moved to Stratford, Oklahoma when I was in sixth grade. I later graduated high school from there in 1950 and attended Oklahoma City University on a basketball scholarship for one semester before moving back home to help my family. I worked for a year and a half then began school at East Central University in Ada in 1952. It was there that I met the love of my life, Inez Rhynes. We were married on October 1st, 1954 and would have celebrated our 69th anniversary this year. Together, we traveled to many places including every state in the United States, Mexico, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.
I graduated college in 1956 and began coaching and teaching math in Wayne, Oklahoma. It was there that our son, Clifford, was born. We then moved to Pawnee where I taught for four years. The next addition to our family was our daughter, Pamela Ann. In 1963 we moved to Konawa where I worked as high school principal, then superintendent. In 1965 we moved to Sulphur where I served as assistant principal, then assistant superintendent, followed by a wonderful 23 years as superintendent.
In 1970, I presented the Board of Education with a 15-year plan to improve the school’s physical plant by building a middle school which opened in 1973, followed by a new central elementary school in 1983. Through the support of the community, we also added a middle school gym. We expanded the high school with the addition of a fine arts wing and remodeled the gymnasium by adding a lobby. Expansion continued as we constructed new centers for vocational agriculture and industrial arts, and facilities for transportation and maintenance. We completed the fifteen-year plan by constructing a football field, track, and baseball field in 1985. It was the honor of my life to have the football field, Calvin Agee Field, named after me. Upon my retirement from Sulphur Public Schools in 1987, I traveled the state working for Municipal Accounting Systems, which transformed how Oklahoma schools did their record keeping.
My community involvement included serving as president of the Sulphur Chamber of Commerce, president of the East Central District Oklahoma Education Association, president of Sulphur Kiwanis, lieutenant governor of Texas/Oklahoma Kiwanis International, president of the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association, and inductee to the Oklahoma Educators Hall of Fame.
I was preceded in death by my parents; Lillian and Emmett; sisters, Ola Mae Cook, Edna Baker, Ruby Morris, Willie Lou Middaugh, Evelyn Rhoades; and brothers, Ernest, Oral Clifton, and Glen.
I am survived by my wife, Inez; my son, Clifford and daughter-in-law Terri; my daughter, Pamela Ann (Agee) Chitwood and son-in-law Fred; five grandchildren, Lauren (Agee) Johnson and husband, Boone, Luke Agee and wife Laura, Ross Chitwood and fiancé Zachary Kemper, Bryce Chitwood, and Tanner Chitwood; six great-grandchildren, Kenleigh Johnson, Addison Johnson, Maggie Johnson, Camden Chitwood, Blayke Chitwood, and my namesake, Calvin Agee. I close by quoting 2nd Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith." Amen
A celebration of life for Calvin will be held 2:00PM, Monday, May 1, 2023, at the First Free Will Baptist Church, in Sulphur, with Pastors Bill Leveridge and Dick Terry officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all former school administrators, teachers, coaches, staff and students.
As we celebrate his life, in lieu of flowers, the family invites you to join them in building upon Calvin’s legacy by donating to the Calvin Agee Scholarship Fund. Memorial donations can be made to Sulphur Public Schools, Attn: Calvin Agee Scholarship Fund, 1021 West 9th, Sulphur, OK 73086. We feel there is no better way to honor him than by doing something for the kids.
