Obituary Preview: Troupsburg, NY | Richard P. Knowles, 73, of Metz Road, Troupsburg, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell.
Born in Wellsville, NY on May 28, 1943, Dick was the son of the late Alfred R. and Alice Marie (Edwards) Knowles. He was raised and attended schools in Wellsville.
Dick was a US Army veteran, serving his country with five years of military service. Following that he returned to Wellsville and was employed at the Worthington Company in Wellsville. He eventually worked for 13 years for the Canada Dry Bottling in Hornell where he was the warehouse manager. He was a former member of the Troupsburg Fire Department.
He is survived by his long time companion, Catherine Warren of Troupsburg, his step children, James (Lisa) Warren of Troupsburg and Christina Warren of Frazier, CO, his granddaughter, Breann Potter of Utah, his brother, Russell Knowles of Wellsville, his sisters, Beverly Abbott of Oswego, NY, Helen Hubbard of Dallas, TX and Alice Norine (Robert) Williams of Coppers Cove, TX along with several nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Alfred Knowles Jr. and his sisters, Edith Morgan and Shirley Geer.
Following Dick’s wishes there will be no services.

Obituary Preview: Gertrude M. Payne Hackett, 98, of the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Facility, Springville, NY, formerly of Woodhull and later Arcade, NY, entered into rest on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Richmond Nursing Facility.
Gertrude was born in Troupsburg on March 4, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Lizzie Gleason Potter. She attended Troupsburg Central School.
On Oct 30, 1937 she married John R. Payne. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1979. She later married Glenn Hackett who also predeceased her.
Gertrude was a homemaker and partner to her husband John on the family farm on the Parallel in Troupsburg. She was a member of the Austinburg Methodist Church and along with John, was a member of the Troups Creek Grange.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, John and Sue Payne of Arcade, NY, her daughter in law, Linda Welch, her grandchildren, Melissa Raimonde (John Dobosz), Christina (Brian) Sherwood, Gregory Payne (Raquel), Rebecca (Steve) Sager and Kimberly (Joe) Cellino, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husbands, as well as her son, Dennis Payne on Oct. 16, 2001, her granddaughter, Angela Schade, her great grandson, Tony Payne, her sisters, Evelyn Everitt and Bessie Margeson and her brothers, Robert Potter, Harold Potter and Walter Potter.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 27 from 1 to 2 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow there at 2 PM with Rev. Kathy Dawes officiating.

Daniel Edward Knopf - February 11, 1940 - February 16, 2017

Obituary Preview: Daniel Edward Knopf, 77, of Cty. Rte. 21, Addison (Rathbone), went to join his Lord and Savior from his home on Thursday, February 16, 2017. He was surrounded by his loving family as he left this world.
Born in Bridgeport, CT on February 11, 1940, Dan was the son of the late Edward and Dora Ward Knopf. He was a 1958 graduate of Newtown High School in Newtown, CT.
He married the love of his life on June 24, 1961 in Bedford Hills, NY. Margaret “Peggy” Thornfeldt became his bride and lifelong partner.
Dan was a proud member of the Connecticut National Guard, serving from April 1962 to March 1968. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving.
Dan worked in the aerospace field for 26 years as a lab technician in Quality Control for Aero Gasket in Meriden, CT. Upon moving to Rathbone, he operated his own construction business for 15 years. He was then called to the ministry as a Licensed Local Pastor for 13 years. He pastored Methodist Churches in Alfred, Troupsburg, Greenwood and South Canisteo.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy and three children, Michael (Kathy) Knopf of Rathbone, NY, David (Vicki) Knopf of Salem, CT and Krista (Tom) Armentano of Painted Post, NY, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grand daughters, his brother, Richard (Zina) Knopf of Stratford, CT and several nieces and nephews in Maine and Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Nancy Lewis and Lucy Knopf and a granddaughter, Michaela.
Friends may call on Monday, February 20 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Dan’s funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 AM at the United Presbyterian Church of Hornell with Pastor Katherine Griffis officiating.
Burial will be in Angel’s Gate at Button Hill Farm in Rathbone.

Obituary Preview: Joanne V. Snyder, 80, of Sebring, Fl, formerly of Bath, Borden and later Lindley NY, passed into the care of her Lord on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring.
Joanne was born in the Town of Woodhull on December 18, 1936, the daughter of the late Anton V. and Rosamond Porter Vidigson. A graduate of Addison Central School, Joanne furthered her education at Corning Community College, starting in the nursing program. She changed her studies to music and went on to Mansfield University to earn Bachelors and Masters degrees in music. She taught music at the Horseheads Christian School as well as the Twin Tiers Baptist High School in Breesport, NY.
On May 21, 1955 she married Raymond L. Snyder. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2008. Joanne and Raymond were both very active members of the Borden Baptist Church and after moving to Lindley, the East Lindley Baptist Church. Upon moving to Florida, they became associated with the Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring. Joanne served as church pianist and organist and was a member of the choir. She also helped with church sponsored release time programs for children in the area.
Surviving are her sons and daughters in law, Craig and Sandra Snyder of Bath and Brian and Bobbi Snyder of Houston, TX., 5 grandchildren, her sister, Eleanor Lou Willis of Addison and nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Raymond, Joanne was predeceased by her sister, Rosalee Strauss.

Obituary Preview: Vickie Jean Lehman, 64, of Bailey Hill Road, Lawrenceville, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA surrounded by her loving family.
Vickie was born in Wellsboro, PA on May 7, 1952, , the daughter of Milford L. and Reta A. Sawyer Pond. Growing up in Knoxville, she was a 1971 graduate of Cowanesque Valley Junior-Senior High School.
On October 14, 1972, Vickie married Frederick R. Lehman at the Knoxville Methodist Church. Fred survives.
Vickie was a nurse’s aide, working for over 20 years at Broad Acres Nursing Facility in Wellsboro. She was also office manager and payroll clerk for the family business, Lehman Construction operated by Fred. She was a member of the Knoxville Yoked Church and had also been attending Resurrection Tabernacle Church in Elmira.
Vickie adored her family and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She has been a constant caregiver to her parents over the last several years.
Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Frederick Lehman of Lawrenceville, her daughters, Ericka L. Lehman of Elmira and Yolanda J. Riley of Pine City, her granddaughters, Victoria R. Scott and Amanda Wenrich, her mother, Reta Pond of Knoxville, her brother, Martin (Amy) Pond of Savona, her sister, Tina (Henry) Dawley of Smethport, PA, her brothers in law and sisters in law and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vickie was preceded in death by her father, Milford “Pondy” Pond and her brothers, Ronald Pond, Michael Pond and Bruce Pond.
Friends may call on Wednesday evening, Feb. 8 from 6 to 9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from noon to 2 PM at the Knoxville Yoked Church on Alba St. in Knoxville, PA. Vickie’s funeral services will follow there at 2 PM with Rev. Gerald Glover officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Knoxville.

Norma Beverly Crane - May 07, 1930 - February 03, 2017

Obituary Preview: Norma Beverly Crane, 86, of Addison, NY, passed into the Lord’s care on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira surrounded by family and friends.
Norma was born in Cowanesque, PA on May 7, 1930, the daughter of the late Ivan B. and Emily Albertene (King) Rushmore. She was raised in Cowanesque and then on the old family farm beside the Jemison River.
On Aug. 24, 1957, she married John J. Crane at the Borden Baptist Church and they made their home on their farm on Symonds Hill Road in Addison, NY.
Norma was an avid gardener, loved books and music and the animals on the farm. She was a patient artisan who created beautiful quilts and crocheted items. She was a genealogist who worked with the Steuben County Historical Society and Middletown Historical Society. She was historian for the Town of Woodhull for many years. Norma published two cookbooks of her own recipes and contributed to several books on local history. She served as secretary-treasurer for the Elk Creek Cemetery and loved being a member of TOPS.
She had worked at various jobs over the years, her first being at the Westfield Glove Factory and later as a buyer for Rosenblooms, on the assembly line at Thatcher Glass and as payroll clerk and secretary for HES Inc. in Addison.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her beloved husband, John, her sister, Maple Ingraham, her daughters, Judy (Gordon) McCarrick, Deborah (Roy) Bacon, Paula Spencer and Sheila (Jack) Thompson, all of Addison, her sons, Ron (Wanda) Bacon of Painted Post and Florida, Philip (Joanie) Bacon of Corning, James (Danielle) Spotts of Shallotte, NC and Danny Bostwick, grandchildren, Julie McCarrick Lyke, Jeff McCarrick, Brett Bacon, Lora Spencer, Rachel Dunning, Olivia Thompson, Lily Thompson, Ron Bacon, Bobbi-Jo Lee, Pam Tucker, Jennifer Brown, Brian Bacon, William Baker, Amanda Bacon, Landy Sullivan, Alicia Griffey, Corey Driskell, Zachary Spotts, Hannah Spotts, Tyler Mack, Jordan Bacon, Zoe Spencer, Mike Woughter and Tiffany Woughter, many great and great great grandchildren, brother in law, Dorr (Jan) Crane, sisters in law, Linda DuBois and Kathy (Jim) Hamblin, nieces, Carol McPherson, Dawnette Deiter, Barrie Magliocca and Patricia Rushmore and nephews, Jamie Hilboldt, Lannie Hilboldt and Terry McCloskey along with many dear friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her children, Christopher Crane, Alicia Crane, Charles Woughter and Leslie Woughter, her grandson, John McCarrick and her sister, Jean Hilboldt.
Funeral services will be held at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 at 2 PM with a luncheon to follow at the Addison American Legion Post on Maple St., Addison. The family will be available at the funeral home to greet friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Burial will be in Elk Creek Cemetery, Borden, NY.

Ellis D. Spencer - November 16, 1931 - January 31, 2017

Obituary Preview: Ellis D. Spencer, 85, of Addison Back Road, Addison, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira.
Ellis was born in Elkland, PA on Nov. 16, 1931, the son of the late Tracy and Emily (Clark) Spencer. He was raised in Elkland and attended school there.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1952 to 1954 and attaining the rank of Sergeant.
On Dec. 8, 1956, he married the former Bernice E. Gardner. Bernice preceded him in death on Sept. 10, 2007.
Ellis worked for many years as an equipment operator for Hakes Construction in Painted Post. He later became a certified overload transport escort, doing this work until age 80.
Ellis was a charter member of the Addison Eagles Aerie in Addison and has remained very active since its’ formation. He was a former Aerie President, Secretary and Trustee. Ellis also served a term as President of the New York State Eagles Organization. He was also a member of the Campbell American Legion Post.
He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Kelley and Timothy Dorshimer of Addison.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 from 3 to 5 PM at the Addison Eagles Club, St. Rte. 417, Addison.
Burial will be made in Addison Rural Cemetery, Addison, NY.

Paul "Red" E. Tillinghast - February 26, 1931 - January 27, 2017

Obituary Preview: Paul E. “Red” Tillinghast, 85, of Beck Drive, Cameron, NY, passed away at home on Friday, January 27, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lawrenceville, PA on February 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Thomas and Florence (Kilburn) Tillinghast Sr.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. Following his military service, Red married the former Helen Westcott. She preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 1998.
Red worked for various farmers in the area with many years employed by Terry Painter in Brookfield, PA. He also was employed by Learn’s Feed Service in Nelson, PA for a period. He loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing and cook outs. Red loved to go for leisurely rides in the area with family and friends.
Surviving are his sons, Frederick Tillinghast of Bogard, MO, Paul (Audrey) Tillinghast Jr. of North Carolina and Michael Tillinghast of Gloversville, NY, his daughters, Teresa Root of Woodhull, Paula (Jim) Clark of Franklinville, PA, Lisa Allen (Bub Farnsworth) of Osceola, PA, Kathy Bacon of Hornell, Polly Armstrong (Don Landon) of Hornell, Lindy (Art) Goodier of Osceola, Cindy (Joe) Ribble of Woodhull, Sue Kendall (Robert Webster) of Tioga, PA and Betsy Tillinghast of Cameron, 25 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his sisters, Martha Ostrander of Troy, PA and Patty Whidden of Westfield, PA, many nieces and nephews and his beloved canine companions, Lassie, Sassie and Baby Girl.
Besides his wife Helen, Red was predeceased by his son, Willie Tillinghast, his grandchildren, Anthony Tillinghast, Tina Tillinghast and Jennifer Clark and by his dear friend, Bernice Tubbs.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 31 at 1 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Rev. Robert Treat will officiate.
Burial will be in Brookfield Cemetery, Brookfield, PA.

Obituary Preview: Victor E. “Vic” Converse, 71, of Duane St. Hornell, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Born in Rochester on April 22, 1945, Vic was the son of the late Stanley H. and Doris June (Boulio) Converse.
In 1964 Vic enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving for 20 years until 1984. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. On July 11, 1980, he married Maria T. “Tere” Martinez in Madrid, Spain. Following his military retirement, Vic and Tere settled in Hornell where he was employed in various occupations but lastly worked for St. James Hospital in Hornell.
Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Stan and Doris June Converse and by his brother, Stan Lee Converse.
Surviving are his wife, Maria “Tere” Converse of Hornell, his sons, Matthew Converse of California, Mitchell Converse of Texas and Victor J. Converse of Hornell, his daughter, Doris Converse of Hornell, his step sons, Javier Burgos Martinez and Alaro Burgos Martinez, both of Spain, his sisters, Cathrine (Donald) Osberg of Upland, CA and Carolyn (Larry) Baker of Lindley, NY, his brother, Nathan (Kimberly) Converse of Troupsburg, his aunt, Ida Ruth Bauer and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Obituary Preview: Bernice V. Plank of Painted Post, NY, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Corning Hospital following a short illness.
Bernice was born in West Almond, NY to the late Clifford and Myrtle Rossman Hadsell. She was raised in the Almond area and graduated in one of the first graduating classes of the newly formed Alfred-Almond Central School.
She married Paul W. Plank who preceded her in death in 1977. Bernice was a homemaker but also worked at the former Westinghouse Electric in Bath and retiring there after it became Phillips Lighting. As a younger woman, she enjoyed baking cookies and candy making and giving her treats away to others. She enjoyed flower gardening and found it relaxing working in her flowers. Bernice was an avid reader, but her greatest pleasure came in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her husband Paul, Bernice was predeceased by her daughter, Paula Jean Jenkins, her brothers, Milton Hadsell and Leon Hadsell, her sisters, Dorothy Fairchild and Ella Hadsell and her step mother, Lois Hadsell.
Surviving are her son, Louis (Cheryl) Plank of St. Augustine, FL, her daughters, Carol Collins of Columbia, SC and Connie (Richard) LaPierre of Wilmington, NC, her son in law, Arthur Jenkins of Beaver Dams, NY, her grandchildren, Kimberly (Brian) Hanna of South Carolina, Eric (Heather) Plank of Painted Post, Dr. Benjamin (Amanda) Plank of Montana, Rebecca (Robert) Scott of New Mexico, Emily (Jeremie) Vigneault of Vermont and Christina Jenkins of Corning, 12 great grandchildren, her sister, Deloris Dunham of Andover, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Stan was born in North Hornell on June 30, 1969, the son of Stanley and Donna Johnston Henry. He grew up and attended schools in the Hornell and Canisteo area.
On July 7, 1995, he and the former Deborah Raub were married at the United Methodist Church of Woodhull. Deb survives.
Stan worked as a self employed carpenter and roofer. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish and camp.
Surviving Stan is his wife, Deb Henry at home, his daughter, Krystie Lynn Henry at home, his mother, Donna Henry of Arkport, his brother, Clarence Henry (Sheila Moshier) of Arkport and his in laws, Herbert and Anna Raub Jr. of Addison.
His father, Stanley Henry Sr. preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1981.

Born in Woodhull on Sept. 24, 1932, Lois was the daughter of the late Bert R. and Florence (Ellsworth) Lamphear. She attended school in Woodhull.
On July 16, 1953, she married Norman G. Tiffany Jr. Norm preceded her in death on July 11, 1988.
Lois was a homemaker but had also been employed in the housekeeping department of the Lodge on the Green in Painted Post. She was a member of the Woodhull Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching old westerns as well as professional wrestling on TV. Lois had a great sense of humor and her spunky spirit was a great gift to her family, who she loved dearly.
Besides her husband Norm, Lois was predeceased by her son, Michael Tiffany, her daughter, Robin Brown, her brother, Clair Lamphear and her sisters, Verda Miles, Bernadine Newell and Audrey Potter.
Surviving are her children, David (Sue) Tiffany of Balston Lake, NY, Susan Woughter (Doug Babcock) of Arkport, Norma (Rick) Cleveland of Woodhull and Shawn Tiffany of Woodhull, grandchildren, Angela, Aaron, Micah, Joshua, Michael, Tiffany, Brian, Kevin, Stacey, Danielle, Cheyenne, Emily, Anthony, Shawnna, Johnathon, Nathan, Collin and Ryan, 25 great grandchildren , her furry companion, Scuff and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Corning, NY on October 2, 1917, Marie was the daughter of Walter J. and Ethel Sprague Everts. On June 13, 1941, she and Leroy Plumley were married. Roy preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1977. Marie later married Eugene Krise on June 22, 1985 and Gene passed on May 15, 1996.
Marie was a lifelong member of the Woodhull United Methodist Church and also belonged to the Woodhull Community Friends senior citizens group. She lived a Godly life and was dearly loved by the entire community. She had moved to North Carolina to be near her son Gary and his wife Dee. While living there, she attended Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church in Salisbury, NC.
Besides her husbands, Marie was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Smith on Aug. 21, 1997, her son, Gary Plumley on Jan. 6, 2016, her great grandson, Joseph Lubberts, her sister, Edna Butler and her brother, Arthur Everts.
She is survived by her daughter in law, Dolores “Dee” Plumley of Mooresville, NC, her grandchildren, Linda Smith of Corning, NY, Deb (Jeff) Fleming of Athens, PA, Kenneth Smith of Cameron Mills, NY, William (Napat) Smith of New Bern, NC, Timothy Smith of Elkland, PA, Cynthia (Earl) Kinley of Woodleaf, NC and Andrea (James) Hendrix of Cleveland, NC, 9 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and nieces, nephews cousins and dear friends.
Friends may call on Tuesday, December 27 from noon to 2 PM at the Woodhull United Methodist Church, Church St. Woodhull. Marie’s funeral service will follow there at 2 PM with Pastor Brian Diffenbacher officiating.

Born in the Town of Urbana, NY on March 5, 1965, Chris was the son of the late Ramona Mae Hughes. He was raised in Atlanta, NY where he attended Wayland Schools. They later moved to Avoca when he was a teenager and attended Avoca Central School.
Chris worked most of his life as a landscaper, with the bulk of it as a self employed contractor. He loved the outdoors, so his occupation allowed for him to spend time outside with nature. He was an avid fisherman but mostly, he cherished time with his family who he loved dearly.
Surviving are his daughter, Alyssa (Jeffrey) Cox and his son, David Hughes, all of Savona, his grandchildren, Jacob Cox and Delilah Hughes, his sister, Katryn Hughes (Mark) Segur of Avoca, his brother, Raymond Angelo (Lori Barron) of Gallatin, TN, his nephew, Timothy Conklin Jr., his niece, Nickole (Andrew) Glick and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Obituary Preview: Randall E. "Randy" Whiteman, 95, of County Route 123, Jasper, died on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA following an auto accident that morning. Randy was born in Jasper on January 11, 1921, the son of the late Charles and Ella Woodard Whiteman. Raised in Jasper, he was a graduate of Jasper Central School. Randy enlisted and proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. He fought in the North African and Pacific Theaters of the war including the campaigns of North African Occupation, Sicilian Occupation, Gilbert Islands Operation, Marshall Islands Operations, Saipan and Tinian Occupation, Leyte Landings and Lingayen Gulf Landing. Randy was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in January 1945. Following his military service he relocated to Horseheads where he became employed by the Horseheads School District where he worked many years as a bus mechanic. He had returned to make his home in Jasper in the last few years. Throughout his adult life, Randy was an avid collector and refurbished of antiques. He loved chiming clocks which would fill his home with various chime tones every hour, which was a slight irritation to his granddaughter during her visits. Randy loved to fish and he and his family spent many joyful days together fishing the Finger Lakes and on trips to Canada Randy loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and dancing. He also wrote poetry in his own personal style. He was a member of the Addison and Jasper Senior Citizen Groups as well as the Canisteo American Legion Post. Randy was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Joanne Pealer in 1992, his brother, Andrew Whiteman and his sisters, Rachael Cook, Leona Kilmer and Ruth Whiteman. Surviving is his long time companion and dear friend, Winifred "Teddy" Rice of Addison, his son in law and his wife, Richard and Janice Pealer of Horseheads, his grandchildren, Michael (Carla) Pealer, Michele Pealer and Marie (Jim) Loewke, 7 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews including nieces, Dr. Sally Kilmer and Ella Butcher and nephew, Charles (Nancy) Whiteman. He was born October 14, 1943 in Corning to Cecelia and Guilio Antonio. He was an electrician for Corning Glass Works, retiring after 29 �_ years. He graduated from Corning Free Academy in 1962. Never one to sit still, John started working at an early age: mowing lawns, shoveling snow, running errands for the elderly in the neighborhood on Beech St. in Corning. He repaired bicycles and sold them at Campbell Merchandise Mart. In later years he had a tire business at his home, and of course he was a familiar sight on his Harley, riding anytime of the day or time of the year. In later years he spent time camping and fishing with friends and relatives at Kozy Grove Campground in Bradford, NY. John was predeceased by his parents and brothers in law, Earl (Evelyn) Pearsall, Ralph Pearsall and Ken (Virginia) Pearsall and his sister in law, Doreen Pearsall. His survivors include his wife of 24 years, Elaine Antonio, two daughters, Angela Rose (Eric) Stull of Elmira and Diana (Scott) Wright of Woodhull, seven grandchildren, Seth, Marissa, Dahkiem and Michael Stull and Ryan (Kelly) Dibble, Ashley (Wes) Somma and Mason Wright. Step children, Ronald (Mary) Jacobson, Angela (Kevin) Martz, Robert (Autumn) Jacobson and Peter (Michele) Jacobson, step grandchildren, Samantha (Lee) Holtom, Ron (Anna) Jacobson, Abigail, Hannah, Lydia, Esther and Alex Martz and Jeremiah, Melissa, Hjalmer, Thomas, Charles, Aurora and Fin Jacobson. Obituary Preview: Harvey L. Lewis Jr., 84 of Main St Troupsburg, NY went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday November 14, 2016 from the Villages of Orleans Health & Rehabilitation Center in Albion, NY with this loving family at his side. Harvey was born on June 2, 1932 in the Town of Troupsburg, NY to the late Harvey A. Lewis Sr. and Atha M. Lewis (Seeley). On March 1, 1952, he married Louise J. Henry in Alfred Station, NY. Harvey began his working career joining his father and mother's footsteps at Ingersoll Rand where he was a Foundry man until his retirement in 1980. At which time Harvey and Louise took up the hobby of camping which they said were the best years of his life. Enjoying bike riding with his pet Bambie in the basket of his bike and those trips to Devils Knobb and of course he had to beat mom. Harvey loved his fires at night surrounded by family and friends and oh the stories of life he would share. What a legacy as Harvey and Louise's entire life was given to their 8 children, 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Surviving are his children Cheryl (Ted) Mattison of Silver Springs, FL., Randy (Joan) Lewis of Silver Springs, FL., Lorette (John) Dempsey of Troupsburg, NY, Steven Lewis of Silver Springs, FL., Angelee (Raul) Estela of Kendall, NY, Colette Kennedy of Tioga, PA., Harvey (Sarah) Lewis of Kendall, NY and of course his beloved pet Snuggles. His Special sister Waneta (Otis) Shoemaker of Rochester, NY, Jocelyn Deats of Bradford, NY, Doris Balcer of Savona, NY, sister in laws, Irena Maxine Henry of Hornell, NY, Roxy (John) Robords of Bath, NY, Mildred Briggs of Hornell, N.Y., Lois Ann Olecharski of Arkport, NY, brother in law Harland Stephens of Zephyrhills, FL. and several nieces and nephews. Harvey was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years in March of 2016, both parents, his son Lee Lewis Sr., granddaughter Teresa Ann Dempsey, great grandson Kayden Lewis, Sister Joyce (Sam) Plank, brother James Lewis, sister in law Edna (Bill) Kull, Betty Stephens and brother in laws Levi Glayson, James Richard, Forest Duane Henry and Eugene Briggs. Following their wishes there will be no funeral services for Harvey as he only wished to be reunited for eternity with his beloved wife Louise and laid to rest at the Mt. Obituary Preview: Hugh James Price, 74, of Corning Center for Rehabilitation in Corning, died there on Thursday, November 3, 2016. Hugh was born in North Hornell, NY on April 18, 1942, the son of the late Merritt Russell and Mattie L. Murphy Price. To say the least, Hugh lived a very interesting and diverse life. He left home in 1958 when he was 16. He "fudged" his age to enlist in the US Air Force, married the love of his life, Jan, in 1962 and together they raised 3 great children, Hughie, Sherri and Kati. Hugh's faith was strong and he always had an appropriate Bible verse at the ready to prove a point, especially, it seemed, for his baby sister if he felt she needed chastening. He worked at the Honolulu International Airport and on fishing boats in Alaska; was a welder, a mechanic, a carpenter, an electrician... and so much more. He was a gifted and prolific writer, penning home letters postmarked Costa Rica, Germany, Puerto Rico, Mexico and all 50 states, telling of people he met and the sights he saw, always closing with, Love, Your Son, Hughie. He was much loved and will be sorely missed. Obituary Preview: Woodhull, NY | Jeffrey Smith, Jr., 84, of 5179 West Main Street, Woodhull, NY, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at his home surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Buffalo, NY, January 3rd, 1932, he was the son of Jeffrey and Veronica Kolinski Smith. A life resident of Woodhull, he graduated from Woodhull High School in 1949. He immediately joined the family businesses of H. P. Smith & Son and has been actively employed there since, with the exception of two years active duty (1952-1954) in the US Army, during the Korean Conflict. He served in the Army Reserve until 1960 and was discharged as 1st Lieutenant. He and his brother became active in the management of the business upon the disability of their father in 1956. They purchased the former Williams Funeral Home in Canisteo and later the former Ackerson Funeral Home in Addison. A free Mason since 1953, he was past Master of Restoration Lodge 777 (Woodhull) and Robinson Lodge 649 of Jasper. He is presently a member of Addison Union Lodge 118. He was a more than 50 year member of Addison Kiwanis Club, past President and past Secretary. Elected to the Board of Directors of the 1st National Bank of Addison in 1972; he was the last Chairman of the Board of it's successor, Community National Bank. Appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Town of Woodhull Cemetery in 1964, to which he served until his death. A United Methodist; he was a member of the Woodhull Church, past lay leader, lay speaker and trustee. He was a member of Steuben County, New York State and National Funeral Directors Association and it's Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association of NY. He served several terms as a director of the former Corning Chapter American Red Cross. He married Bernice L. Casinelli, April 26th, 1958 in the Woodhull United Methodist Church; she survives. Also, survivors are their children, Rebecca (Kelly) Beaver of Johns Creek, GA: Jeffrey Smith, III (Cathy) of Amherst, NY; Leslie B. Smith (Susan Kane and her daughters, Michele Banach, Emily Hynes and Allison Hynes) of Woodhull and Adam J. Smith of Brooktondale, NY, Grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Schwagler of North Tonawanda, NY, Andrea (Damion) Pope of Witchita Falls, TX and Jeffrey Ryan Smith of San Francisco, CA. His brother and lifetime business partner, Asa Thomas (Margaret) Smith of Canisteo, and great grandchildren, DJ, Tyler, Ashlyn and Aubrey, several nieces, nephews and cousins and his feline friends, Orville, Wilbur and Haddie. Ed earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education and was a middle school guidance counselor in Cincinnati, OH for several years. He eventually left the education field after earning a degree in computer science. He became associated with the JC Penney Co. working first in Columbus, OH and later relocating to Dallas, TX. Ed retired from Penney's and became an independent computer consultant, doing work for various utility companies in the Dallas area. Ed and Peg had moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas following Ed's full retirement. They just recently moved to New York to be near Peg's family. Ed was an avid Barbershop music participant. He was a very talented singer belonging to numerous barbershop Quartet and Chorus groups over his life. He became a respected judge for national barbershop competitions and was a proud 50 year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. While living in Ohio, Ed had obtained a private pilot's license. Surviving Ed are his wife, Peg Berry of Woodhull, NY, his step son and his wife, Randy and Karen Harris of Woodhull, his granddaughters, Kari (Seth) Gypson and Lyndsay Harris, his great grandchildren, Ania and Skylar, his sister, Carol Padula and his brother, Richard (Robin) Berry, all of Belvidere, NJ, his niece Jennifer (Tony) Staiano of Lake Wales, Fl and great niece, Madison.
