Jeanne M. Kohl - November 10, 1956 - February 04, 2024

Departed: 02/04/2024 (Lodi)
Obituary Preview: LODI - Jeanne M. Kohl, age 67, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare after a brief battle with leukemia.
She was born on November 10, 1956, in Fond du Lac, WI, the daughter of Esther (nee Muellenbach) and Clifford J. Fuhrmann. The youngest of four, she grew up on the Fuhrmann family homestead in Marytown, WI. Jeanne was a 1975 graduate of New Holstein High School and earned her associate degree from Madison Area Technical College. On June 21st, 1986, she married her beloved husband, Mark Kohl.
Jeanne was raised a “farm girl.” She eventually landed herself in administrative roles at companies Alkar, Mead & Hunt, and Sani-Matic. At the time of her retirement, just before diagnosis, she worked part-time with Krueger Hernandez & Thompson SC.
Jeanne’s charisma touched all she met. Her belief in being active in her local community benefited everyone. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Lodi Art Club where she organized “Art in The Park” for many years, the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), and Lodi Outreach. Like her mother before her, Jeanne was a creative spirit. She was an exceptional seamstress and used her talents in crafting and quilting-she could sew whole costumes at a moment's notice. She took joy in organizing and attending crafting events as well as interior design. Her “green thumb” allowed many to enjoy her vibrant flower garden. As well as taking care of others, she believed in taking care of herself by hiking, dancing, and attending “zoomba.” Among Jeanne’s many loves was a life full of feline companions, from farm cats to her most recent beloved outdoor rascal, Floyd. Jeanne was proud of her family and proud of where she came from.
In all of her work and engagement, it is no surprise that Jeanne made countless friends. Jeanne maintained friendships from all eras of her life. In her last days, it was apparent how much Jeanne was loved and cherished: countless hours were spent surrounded by family and friends. It was rare that anyone, especially Mark, left her side. This stands as a true testament of how well Jeanne loved those dear in her life, and to how well Jeanne lived. Something that cannot be captured in a few words.
In addition to her husband Mark, she is survived by her sons, Brian Kohl and Kyle (Alejandra) Kohl-Perez; two brothers, Richard (Mary) Fuhrmann and Ronald (Sally) Fuhrmann; her sister, Patricia (Gordy) Halbach; her in-laws, Todd (Victoria) Kohl, Tim (Gail) Kohl, Shirley Kohl, Ann (Antonio) Kohl Re, and Faith (Joe) Codd; as well as many beloved relatives and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Tom Kohl.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish at St. Patricks Church Lodi, 521 Fair St., Lodi, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gunderson Lodi Funeral & Cremation Care, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, and also on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Paul Kevin Gehin - December 07, 1970 - January 27, 2024

Departed: 01/27/2024 (Lodi)
Obituary Preview: Laceyville, Pa. - Dr. Paul Kevin Gehin, 53, of Laceyville passed away unexpectedly at home on January 27th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Kevin was born in Madison, WI to Morris and LuAnn (Sobotta) Gehin on December 7th, 1970. He attended Calvary Baptist High School and was a member of the class of 1989. He was a decorated wrestler- as the youngest of three boys, he got plenty of practice at home. It was during this time that he discovered what would be his life’s calling. As a senior in high school, Kevin went to the chiropractor for the first time after he was in a serious car accident. He knew then that he wanted to be able to help people the way he had been helped, and it became his lifelong passion.
He went to Grand Rapids Community College before attending Excelsior College in Albany, NY to receive his bachelor’s degree. Afterwards, he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. He graduated in 2002 and went on to open his own practice in Eldridge, IA before relocating to Terre Haute, IN, then Carmel, IN. Alongside these offices, he operated Crossroads Chiropractic, a traveling chiropractic business that catered to the Amish of Shipshewana, IN.
Kevin met the love of his life, Sandy (Yurgatis) Gehin in 2007. They made the long-distance work for three years, with Kevin driving the eleven hours to PA three weekends a month. He went from having no kids to having three almost overnight, and he stepped up to the plate with no hesitation. He lovingly nicknamed Dustin “Dude”, Marissa “Miss Leigh”, and Makayla “Sweet Pea”. He always joked that the kids looked like a gaggle of ducklings following their parents, and so the family became the “Quackers” and the home the “Quacker’s Nest”. He loved attending their sporting events, musicals, and watching them flourish in all their hobbies.
Kevin and Sandy were married on June 16th, 2016 at Sprague Lake, overlooking the beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park and surrounded by family. They enjoyed over seven years of marriage that were filled with love, travels, and family celebrations.
After moving to PA, he opened his dream chiropractic office in Pittston. ProHealth Medical was opened in 2012 with the help of Sandy and his daughters, and the office flourished. He became a licensed Functional Hyperbaric Clinician and was among the first to bring hyperbaric treatment to the area. This month marked twelve years in business. He loved helping people and was honored to be a part of taking care of the community over the last twelve years.
Outside of work, he was a man of many talents and passions. He was a hardcore Packers fan and when they were playing, you could hear him clapping and cheering from a mile away. He was a ham radio enthusiast and recently installed his dream radio setup that allowed him to communicate with people around the world. He was also a member of the Tri County Sportsman’s Club. Kevin became a grill master, because he loved making big family meals and Sandy loved barbecue. One of his proudest accomplishments was joining the Harford Warren Masonic Lodge No. 445, as well as the Scottish Rite in Scranton, and he found great camaraderie with his Masonic brothers. He recently received the Master Builders Award. In addition, he became a certified officiant so he could officiate two of his children’s weddings. He took great pride in this privilege and was looking forward to offering his services for other weddings in the area.
Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. Whether it was visiting Wisconsin to see his brothers and go out to movies with them, visiting his snowbird parents in Clearwater, FL or taking family vacations across the country, he loved making memories with his loved ones. His favorite destinations included the Rocky Mountains, Atlanta, GA, the national parks of the American southwest, and Nashville, TN.
Anyone who knew Kevin knew a man with a heart bigger than he was. He was always the first to extend a hand, to provide assurance, and he took great pride in taking care of people.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clifford and Sophie (Bouch) Sobotta and his paternal grandparents, Edward Francis and Irene (Smithky) Gehin.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Sandy, and their three children; Dustin (Devyn) Voda of Laceyville, Marissa (Joe) Wood of Laceyville, and Makayla (Garrett) Voda of Laceyville as well as his fur babies, Tigger, Simba, Oaklee and Marlee.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers Ed (Cassie) Gehin of Colombus, WI and Don (Stephanie) Gehin of Cottage Grove, WI as well as special aunts Cathy Stumpf and Annette Guist, uncles, nieces, nephews, and his brothers at the Masonic Lodge.
He is also survived by Sandy’s parents, Carl and Jeanne (Hibbard) Yurgatis of Laceyville, sister-in-law Mary (Yurgatis) Whetherhold of Whitehall, and brother-in-law Brian Yurgatis of Laceyville.

Druscilla Roselle "Drucie" Carr - August 12, 1931 - January 07, 2024

Departed: 01/07/2024 (Lodi)
Obituary Preview: LODI - Druscilla Roselle (Tachon) Carr, age 92, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, after falling two days earlier. Her Lord and Savior didn't have far to reach Druscilla because she had been walking by His side for many years. She was born in a farmhouse near Mount Horeb on Aug. 12, 1931, to Harry and Lydia Tachon. Druscilla ("Drucie") attended a one-room schoolhouse, before graduating from Verona High School in 1949.
Drucie was friendly and outgoing. In a store, she could be found chatting with other shoppers. When asked if she knew them, she'd smile and say, "I do now." On Sept. 9, 1950, Drucie married Gaylord Carr in Verona's St. James Lutheran Church. They were together 66 years until his death in 2016. When their two daughters were in junior high, Drucie decided to return to school and fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. She wanted to help people feel better. Drucie worked 22 years for the Dean Clinic before quitting work to babysit grandchildren. She was the definition of being "young at heart." She was fond of saying, "I'd rather wear out than rust out." Drucie was in her 80s when she took classes in water aerobics and was still going to Packers and Brewers games with a grandson. She also got jet ski rides on her birthday every year. She was 86 when she decided it was time to drive the jet ski herself. Earlier, Drucie had continued her nursing career at Waunakee Manor, working for Ed and Betty Kruchten who -- along with their entire family -- became dear friends.
Drucie was a member of Lake Wisconsin Evangelical Free Church, and she loved her church family. Drucie's faith ran deep, and she never missed an opportunity to put it into action. She recently stopped her car to pray with high school girls who were placing flowers alongside the road to mark the site of a tragic accident. Drucie loved Christmas and was a pro at making gingerbread houses with her grandchildren. She also decorated birthday cakes and wedding cakes for them and other relatives and friends.
Drucie enjoyed listening to Christian music and walking her dog. She was genuine and had a joyful heart even though she had her share of health issues. Drucie was interested in the world around her and read the daily newspaper from front to back. She had her own sense of style and always looked nice and "put together."  Earrings were never bought without a matching necklace. Nail salon appointments were never missed.
She was proud of being godmother to Darcelle Tachon Krause and George Rentz.
Drucie is survived by her daughters, Melody (Gary) Ganz, Illinois, and Debbie (Bill) Elsing, Lodi; grandchildren, Nathan Ganz of Illinois and Melinda (Dan Lajter) Elsing, Lodi, Bill (Amber) Elsing, Lodi, Rikki and Leo Schultz who she often referred to as her adopted grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Logan and Noah Elsing, Lodi, and Tabitha, Jeremiah, Ari, Nevaeh Dorman and their father, Jake Dorman, all of Illinois; a special niece, Kristi (Wayne) Vander Ark, Oregon; many other nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord; her parents; her sister, Roselle; brothers, Harry (Jeannette) Tachon, Edgar (Agnes) Tachon, and Gordon (Delores) Tachon; grandchildren, Ross Elsing and Elizabeth Ganz Dorman; and sister-in-law, Gaynold (Rentz) Brown.
Instead of a funeral and visitation, Drucie requested a family graveside service with Pastor Robert Dennison officiating. Burial was at the Mount Horeb Union Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: LODI - Dale Joseph Ziegler, age 37 of Lodi, passed away on January 2, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones after a six-month battle with cancer. Dale was an amazing husband, dad, son, brother, and friend.
Dale enjoyed spending time with his wife of 16 years, Jamie and their daughter’s Ava, Zoe and Isla. Dale was a lifelong carpenter and loved every second of it. When he was not working, he loved to spend time in the Lodi Marsh, whether it was hiking or hunting or in his barn.
Dale was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ruth Ziegler; aunt, Yvonne Ziegler, and cousin, Jason Ziegler. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Mary Ann and LaVern Millard; paternal grandfather, Joe Ziegler; his parents, Dawn and Randy Ziegler; his brother’s, Roger (Kacy) and Peter Ziegler; and his wife and daughters. Dale also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Patricia Ann Schuknecht - October 10, 1938 - December 29, 2023

Departed: 12/29/2023 (Lodi)
Obituary Preview: Patricia Ann Gottschall SchuknechtOctober 10, 1938 - December 29, 2023
PRAIRIE DU SAC/LODI - Patricia Ann Gottschall Schuknecht died on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Sauk Prairie Hospital, Prairie du Sac, WI.  Patti (Patty-Ann, Pat, Trish, Miss Patti, Big Patti, Beth Ann, Mom, Mummy, GramS, Gramsie) was born Phyllis Ann Chrisler on October 10, 1938, in Wauwatosa WI.  She was adopted as an infant by her paternal great-aunt, Grace Sylvia (Chrislaw) Gottschall and her husband, Herbert Harvey Gottschall.  Memories of her years in Milwaukee included: her kindly little old nurse, Miss Wolter (a good old soul); weekend trips to Baraboo to visit her Gottschall grandparents squealing at the sight of the “Blue Baraboo’s” and listening to her grandparents’ stories (where the seeds of her love for family history were planted); her Boston Bull Terrier, Pepper; a neighborhood filled with children; and a little house with a white picket fence.  Patti moved to Pine Crest Farm in Lodi in March of 1944 with her parents when they retired from their teaching positions in Milwaukee.  She found the big stately grout house on Pine Crest a bit daunting.  Those early years on Pine Crest were lonely ones for Patti.  Books became her friends.
Patti’s ability to make friends of all ages developed during her school years as she moved between grades.  Friends from Lodi and Milwaukee enjoyed joining Patti on horseback rides at Pine Crest.  Patti graduated from Lodi High School in 1955 at the age of 16.  She attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison for two years enrolling in the Integrated Liberal Studies program.  In 1957, at the age of 18, she married Bob Alton Schuknecht whom she met at school.  She had three children by the age of 21.  She and Bob began their married life renting the top floor of her aunt Neva (Chrislaw) Robertson’s farmhouse on Hwy 60 between Lodi and Prairie.  Her cousin’s wife, Helen (Haberman) Robertson, who was renting the bottom floor, gave her the sound marital advice never to learn anything you don’t want to do the rest of your life.  As their family grew, they eventually took over the entire house where Patti’s kids experienced a magical childhood.  In 1968 the family moved to the tenant house on Pine Crest so Bob could better help his aging father-in-law with the farm.
In 1969, Patti, who did not know how to swim, magically rescued her father-in-law, Alvin Lewis Schuknecht, who also did not know how to swim, but had managed to tip over his fishing boat down on the Pond.  Alvin always looked at Patti and Tippy (the 3-legged dog who had alerted Patti to the emergency) in a special light after that. In 1970 a horse fell on Patti while she attempted to mount, and she suffered two compound fractures of her lower left leg.  Confined to a full-length leg cast for 10 months, Patti at last had the time to devote to her true passion, researching local and family history.  Her research put her in contact with fellow enthusiasts from all over the country and beyond.  She traveled to meet “new” relations in the west where she rode horse on a cattle drive.  She discovered a love of the Catskills in New York where her Steele relations first settled and traveled there as often as possible.  In 1973, Bob and Patti hosted the 100th anniversary of the first Steele picnic at Pine Crest, which attracted over 200 “cousins” from across the U.S.  A family cookbook that she authored for this event contains as much genealogy as recipes, is two inches thick, and only covered A-C.  (One of those projects she was always going to return to.)
Patti stayed home with her children except for occasional temporary and seasonal employment until 1982 when she joined the staff of the Lodi Woman's Club Free  Library where she served until 1998. She created a warm and welcoming home, filled with interesting things and fascinating people.  The doors were always open.
Unlike Bob, Patti enjoyed travel, driving with friends or at times by herself, to visit her daughters.  It was more about the journey than the destination.  She avoided interstates (shunpiking) and stopped along the way to explore sights, cemeteries, and pop in on friends and family.
Patti became a Tiger Mom for her daughter, Cherie Ann (Schuknecht) Haug when Cherie was diagnosed with endometrial cancer.  Cherie died on November 12, 2001, six weeks after diagnosis, knowing her mom and dad had moved mountains in their efforts to help.
There was never a piece of paper that Patti didn’t keep, never a book that she didn’t need to take home.  Patti was a prolific writer, an interesting and thoughtful correspondent, and a life-long learner.  She was a charter member of both local historical societies and amassed an astounding amount of material preserving the histories of the area.  She loved her involvement with class reunions and the West Point Area Historical Society’s calendars.  She showered attention on her yellow labs.  She adored her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
One of those “papers” that Patti was loath to part with contained a note from Shirley Groves which Patti received at the time of her mother’s death.  Shirley wrote, "We will miss these dear, bright, colorful, strong-minded people who somehow make the rest of us seem 'watered-down' ".  The same can be said of Patti.
Patti was preceded in death by her daughter, Cherie Ann (Schuknecht) Haug and her husband, Bob Alton Schuknecht.  Patti is survived by her children, Schoen Allon and Patricia Ann (Stevens) Schuknecht, of Hudson, WI; Shelagh Beth (Schuknecht) and Stephen Douglas Munroe of St. Albans, VT; her son-in-law, Glenn Haug of Grenora, ND; her grandchildren Derek and Theresa (Norell) Schuknecht of Hudson, WI, and their children Cole and Lacey; Tara (Schuknecht) and Devin Maier of Waunakee, WI, and their children Wesley and Cameron; Grady and Teryn (Buchanan) Munroe of Madison, WI; and Ceilidh Munroe of St. Albans, VT.  She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Betty Marlene (Schuknecht) Pegram of Greensboro, NC; Carol Lavon (Schuknecht) Deneen of Stoughton, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life honoring Patti will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the WEST POINT TOWN HALL, N2114 Rausch Rd., Lodi, WI 53555.  The family would like to thank the staffs at Home Again in Waunakee, Pine Villa Memory Care in Prairie du Sac, and Sauk Prairie Hospital for the compassionate care Patti received.  The family is grateful for the help the local historical societies have provided in preserving Patti’s collection of materials.  Please consider donations in Patti’s memory to the Lodi Valley Historical Society, P.O. Box 72, Lodi WI 53555 and the West Point Area Historical Society, Town of West Point, Attn: Mary Ann Johnson, N2114 Rausch Rd, Lodi WI 53555.

Amelia Jean Arthur - July 10, 1992 - December 21, 2023

Departed: 12/21/2023 (Lodi)
Obituary Preview: PORTAGE/LODI - Amelia Jean Arthur, age 31, of Portage, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023. She was born on July 10, 1992, in Janesville.
Amelia graduated from Lodi High School in 2010 and earned her Accounting Degree from Madison Business College. She worked as an accountant for Hammond Power Solutions Inc.
Amelia's family was her rock, we were always together doing something and couldn't go a day without talking to each other. She enjoyed reading, she always had a book she was working on. Baking was her passion, but she was a bit of a perfectionist, she wouldn't let anyone see it, taste it, or touch it until it was perfect. She loved snuggling and playing with her dogs (the Boys) Anchor, Oskar, and Merlin. She enjoyed watching and feeding her hummingbirds (my Hummers). She knew which male and which female were at the feeder and which ones were the fighters. Halloween was her absolute favorite holiday! Every year she always had the best costume and had to have a party where we all would dress up and play the most fun and creative games. She enjoyed watching us all compete against each other to win as she refereed. She had a sense of humor like no other. Always coming up with the funniest saying or come back that seemed to come out of nowhere. She lived to make people laugh and smile.
Amelia will forever be loved and missed, leaving an empty spot in all our hearts.
Amelia is survived by her parents, David and Penny McMurray; sisters, Natasha (Jordan) Truitt, Kayla (RJ) Arthur and Rainbow (Monty) Ruhde; brother, Calvin (Natalie) McMurray; nephews, Cameron Truitt, Zayden Zuber and Trapper Buchanan; grandmothers, Nancy (Junior) Laube and Marilyn Buechner; significant other, Tyler "TJ" Turner; and TJ’s Family Barb (Bob) Miller, Clint Baty, Brandon (Melissa) Turner, Sammi (Matt) Marquis; nieces, Alaska Turner and Miley Marquis; nephews, Gage and Colt Turner, Ozzy and Cyrus Coyote and many loved cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Amelia was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Roger Goplin and Jerry Buechner.
The family would like to thank Gunderson Funeral Home and Prairie Winds Flower Market for helping with arrangements. We would also like to thank the Waddle Inn for hosting the luncheon.

Amelia Ann Heider - April 07, 2004 - December 14, 2023

Departed: 12/14/2023 (Lodi)
Obituary Preview: LODI-Amelia A. Heider, Age 19 of Lodi was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
She was born April 7, 2004, to Daniel and Maureen (Miller) Heider of Lodi, WI.  Although seemingly called home at a young age, she lived life to the fullest, never knowing how to say no and always putting others first.  Early years were filled with summer camp and 4-H projects with the Lodi Fair always holding a special place in Amelia’s heart.  In High School, she loved civic minded clubs, Soccer, performing in Forensics, being yearbook editor and anything that had to do with music as she loved to sing and play multiple instruments.  She was an avid cross-country skier who raced through-out her middle and H.S. years.  Camping and outdoor activities with her family were especially important to her with yearly canoe trips to Boundary Waters being a highlight every summer.  Her love of animals led her to work at Lodi Veterinary Care in boarding where she made many furry friends.
Amelia graduated from Lodi H.S. in 2022 and was planning on attending UW Eau Claire and continuing her passion for the environment.  That plan was delayed after being diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) a few months prior to H.S. graduation.  She battled this disease with strength and courage both at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.  Amelia was determined to not let cancer prevent her dream of attending college, ultimately taking online classes through UW Eau Claire from her hospital room. The family thanks many individuals at both locations for the incredible care she received and hopes that her participation in clinical trials will help to provide a cure for future AML patients.  The family also thanks her many close friends whose support lifted Amelia’s spirits throughout this difficult journey.
She will remain in the hearts of her parents, Daniel and Maureen Heider and sister Hannah Heider of Lodi.  She is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 5:00 pm at ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, W6906 County Rd. K, Arlington, WI 53911. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
The family asks that you consider donating blood or platelets to help other cancer patients.  Memorials will be placed in a scholarship fund honoring Amelia so that others can complete her dream of college.
