Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Robert Baker and Margaret J. Davis Baker Stofko.
Marci was a graduate of William Allen High School, Allentown and then served her country in the United States Navy.
She was preceded in death by her brother Bruce Baker .
Surviving are her daughter Brittenay Roth Scranton and sisters Laura Baker, Exeter and Shawn ( Wes) Ivory, Lavergne, TN and a brother James Baker and nephews John Fuller, Florida and Robert Fuller, Alaska and fiance, James Gollins.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at 10:00am at Corpus Christi Parish in Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. The Monsignor John Sempa, pastor, will be celebrant.
A celebration of Marci's life will be held at her sister Laura Baker's home at 500 Schooley Ave., Apt. 98, Exeter following the memorial mass.
Interment will be at a later date at Holy Savior Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Obituary Preview: Gerald (Jerry) Nastanski, 64, of Plymouth, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at home due to natural causes. Jerry was born in Massachusetts on June 30, 1957 to the late Francis (Tabaka )Fetchko and Joseph Nastanski Sr.
Jerry attended Wyoming Valley West High School and served in the United States Army after graduation. He retired from the staffing industry after many years building connections between local businesses and the community workforce.
Jerry was very involved with his children's extra curricular activities, never missing a dance competition, track meet or football game. He had a special talent for football, enjoying coaching high school and youth leagues, and was perhaps the greatest football fan to his son and best bud, Dylan. He was so very proud of all their accomplishments. A successful dancer, a geologist, a master mechanic and an aspiring Areospace Engineer.
He has always loved spending time with and going on impromptu adventures with his family. Jerry also had a way with cards and knew how to work his way through a good poker tournament for fun. A dearly loved husband, father, and grandfather, Jerry is survived by his wife of 20 years the former Marti Brogan Nastanski, children Dylan Nastanski; Jerry John Nastanski; Nicole Olin and husband, Jeff; Kristen Padden and husband Gene. He was a very proud pop-pop who cherished every moment of time spent with his granddaughters Alexis and Lana.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-father, John Fetchko; his first wife, Brenda Nastanski, who passed away at an early age.; and brothers Joseph and Donnie.

Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Rose Bone Soricelli.
Michael was a 1964 graduate of West Pittston High School an served in the National Guard.
He was self employed as a general contractor as Michael G. Soricelli General Contractors. He enjoyed spending time at the race track betting on horses. He also loved vacationing in Florida and driving his Shelby on the weekends.
Preceding him in death is his sister; Ann Marie Occhiato and her husband Dominick.
Surviving are his son Michael T. Soricelli, his fiancee, Jennifer Peters and Granddaughter Nellie, of Exeter.

Robert J. Kolbeck - July 01, 1958 - February 17, 2022

Obituary Preview: Robert J. Kolbeck, 63, of West Pittston, passed away on Thursday Feb. 17, 2022 at the Allied Health Care Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anne Graboski Kolbeck.
Mr. Kolbeck was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Lithuanian Club, Pittston.
Robert enjoyed fishing, nature, and especially spending most of his weekends at the lake with his wife and friends. Buzz loved football, he played in his younger days and enjoyed reffing from the couch later on. He was everyone’s go to handyman and loved helping those in need.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Kimberly Ann Burgess on March 21, 2009, his brother Stephen Kolbeck, and his father in law Albert Hite.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, the former Donna Hite and daughters Nikita Kolbeck, Wyoming, and Klaryssa Kolbeck, West Pittston, granddaughter Myranda Burgess, Wilkes-Barre, sister Alyce and her husband Ronald Brown, Illinois, and mother in law Carol Hite, Pittston.
Robert wished to be laid to rest in his normal uniform; his tee shirt and shorts. Please feel free to dress in everyday attire to pay respects.

Surviving are his sisters LuAnn and her husband Denis Staab, Coppell, Texas,. Patricia and her husband Louis Stoltz, Myrtle Beach, S.C., , Mary Bunoski, Exeter and Elizabeth Jane Matuza, Wilkes-Barre, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday at 9:30am in St. Barbara Parish at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 224 Memorial St., Exeter.  The Rev. Joseph Sibilano, O.S.J., will be celebrant.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the church  from 8:30 until time of Mass.

Obituary Preview: Louis C. Phillips, 92, passed away on January 6, 2022 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes Barre, PA.  Louis was born on July 16, 1929 in Chester, PA, son of the late Louis and Mary Finocchio Phillips.
He was a devoted lover of the written word.  He attended St. Joseph’s University and the University of Rome, then obtained Master of Fine Arts degrees at the University of Notre Dame and the State University of Iowa in the acclaimed Iowa Writer’s Workshop, class of 1957.  Soon after he become a professor of creative writing.  His teaching career spanned several institutions, including the University of San Diego, Central State University, and Sinclair Community College.  His first love was writing, however, and he was a poet and novelist at heart, devoting most of his life to his body of work, in pursuit of literary excellence.
Notably, Louis was a survivor of the infamous 1974 Xenia Tornado, part of the Super Outbreak of 1974, one of the largest tornado outbreaks in US history.  The storm claimed his home, but he and his family were spared that day.  He remained in Xenia, Ohio until 2018 when his health necessitated a move closer to family in the Philadelphia and Wilkes Barre areas.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Victor Phillips and Joseph Phillips and his sisters Rose Phillips Fidale, Gloria Phillips Hundley, Rita Phillips Herrick, and Carmella Phillips Newkirk.
He is survived by his sons Blake Phillips, of Xenia, OH, and Jason Phillips, of Philadelphia, PA, son-in-law Chad Schleig of Philadelphia, PA, as well as nieces and nephews Sandra Fidale Millison of North Bend, WA, Wayne Hundley of Bear, DE, Victor and Anne Hundley of Atglen, PA and Anthony Newkirk of Little Rock, AR.
Private services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery in Linwood, PA.

Regina E. Poplawski - February 02, 1932 - January 06, 2022

Obituary Preview: On January 6, just weeks away from her 90th birthday, Regina Edith Dobilas Poplawski passed away at Geisinger Medical Center , Plains Twp.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, the late George and Anna (Berkant) Dobilas, by her husband, Vince J. Poplawski, by their four children, David, Kenneth, Nancy, and Stephen, and by her grandson Jeremy YonKondy.
Regina is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jon YonKondy of West Pittston, grandson Jonathan YonKondy, and granddaughter Jillian YonKondy.
Regina proudly served as the Valedictorian of Exeter High School’s Class of 1949, where she was offered a full scholarship to College Misericordia. She met her husband, Vince, while on leave from the Navy at a dance at the Dupont Hose Co. They were married in 1952 and built a house on ‘Red Row’ in Dupont that Regina still called home until her final days.
Regina touched many lives throughout her various careers, including 40 years as a Stanley Home Products Dealer. She was a very independent woman until 2020, driving herself to work in downtown Wilkes-Barre five days a week for ten years at Center City Cafe. Regina loved a good conversation and understood the positive impact a smile can make on someone’s day.
Regina was also very active within the St. John the Evangelist Parish Community in Pittston, where she served as President of the Altar & Rosary Society for four years. She was also very proud of the 91 hand-sewn quilts she created and donated to the church bazaar over the course of 18 years.
She is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Marcella (Mrs. George) Kosik, Dupont; Christina (Mrs. Paul) Warnagiris, Pittsburgh; and George Dobilas, Huntington Beach, California — as well as by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceeded in death by her brother Ambrose Gaul in 2001 and sisters Suzanne Giordano, Margaret Belko and Mary Eshelman.
Surviving are her sisters, Monica and her husband Joseph Pace, Pittston and Bonnie and her husband William Kudrako, Exeter., along with numerous nieces and nephews, great neices and nephews. Judy especially loved spending time with the children and her family.
Judy loved going to the beach, Broadway shows, and was an avid reader.

Louis M. Venetz - November 28, 1944 - December 03, 2021

Obituary Preview: Louis "Trapper" M. Venetz, 77, of Dupont, passed away unexpectedly, Friday December 3, 2021, while hunting.
He was born in Pittston, the son of the late Louis C and Rita M. Traglia  Venetz.
He was a graduate of the West Pittston High School class of 1963.
Lou was the former owner of High-Tech Pools. He and his wife Linda were the former owners of Carters Dairy Freeze in Exeter for 22 years.
Lou's greatest passion was being outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping. The love of the sports lead him to hold  two patents from the United States Patent Office. He invented the "Quick Holder" device for trapping and also invented the "recoil bag" device for hunting.
His adventures of those sports took him to become a world traveler to Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, Alaska, Australia and the North Pole, where he came to acquire many record trophy's that he displayed proudly.
Lou was the President of the Harvey's Lake Rod and Gun Club for over 10 years. He also served on the Board of Directors for the White Ash Land Association in Sullivan County. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Linda Foy Venetz, and daughters Christine Blight and her husband Brian, and Denise Venetz and three grandchildren, Evan Venetz and Olivia and Christian Blight.
He is also survived by his many wonderful and caring neighbors and very dear friends.

John "Jack" J. Brogan - June 19, 1929 - November 27, 2021

Obituary Preview: John J. "Jack" Brogan, 92, of Exeter, passed into eternal life early Saturday morning, November 27, 2021, at the Mountain View Care and Rehabilitation Center, Scranton.
Born on June 19, 1929, in Pittston, Jack was the son of the late Simon and Marcella Walsh Brogan.
Jack was a graduate of Exeter High School, Class of 1946, and after graduation, he enlisted with the U.S. Navy, serving his country on a minesweeper from 1946-1948.
Following in the footsteps of his father, he joined the business his father started on Main Street in Pittston, Sime Brogan's Clothing Store, eventually becoming the owner of the store and operating it until his retirement in 1988.
Retirement was not a word in Jack's vocabulary. Following the closing of his family business, he worked as a courier for Cefalo and Associates Law Firm, and also for the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, Exeter, working there for over 25 years, most notably as the offical hearse driver.
Active within his community, Jack was a member of many organizations including, the American Legion Post 833, Exeter; the Exeter Lions Club, with whom he held many posts throughout the years; the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, being given the distinct honor of "Man of the Year"; the Knights of Columbus, John F. Kennedy Council 372, Pittston, and its Fourth Degree Assembly 948; and the Naval Mine Warfare Association.
Jack was known for his passion for music! He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 140, Wilkes-Barre; was the alto saxophone player and manager of Cino Paci Band; and a member of the Catholic Choral Society.
A faithful Catholic, Jack was a member of Saint Barbara's Parish, Saint Cecilia's Church, Exeter, singing in its choir for many years.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the former Louisa Altoe, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; and his sister, MaryAnn (Nancy) Flood.

Relatives and friends are invited to Jack's viewing which will be held on Thursday, December 02, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in Saint Barbara's Parish, Saint Cecilia's worship site, 1670 Wyoming Avenue, Exeter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 03, 2021, at 9:30 AM in Saint Barbara's Parish, Saint Cecilia's worship site, 1670 Wyoming Avenue, Exeter. Jack's dear friend, the Reverend Paul McDonnell, O.S.J., will serve as the celebrant.
Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Wyoming, where Military Honors will be offered by the United States Navy.

Obituary Preview: Charles Gregg, 76, of Plymouth passed away Friday, November 19, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center with his loving wife and sisters by his side. Charles was the loving, devoted husband of Judy Schaefer Gregg with whom he shared almost 48 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Stacia A. Gregg. A 1963 graduate of Plymouth High School, he attended Temple University and was a graduate of Wilkes College, now Wilkes University, earning a B.A. degree in English.
Charles began his Journalism career at Prentice-Hall in Englewood, New Jersey as a copywriter researching and writing ad campaigns and direct mail advertising catalogue and book jacket copy. He was also employed as a free lance advertising copywriter in Los Angeles. He went on to work at The Times Leader newspaper for many years and was Vice-President of The Newspaper Guild. During his tenure the newspaper won many prestigious awards including the Keystone Press Awards under his expert guidance. Charles held many positions at the paper including reporter and assistant city editor and at his retirement was the news editor of the newspaper.
Charles' true enjoyment and passion was cooking. A self-taught gourmet chef, he took great pride in preparing and serving his “surprise” masterpieces which were always very much enjoyed by his wife. Veal Marsala and Shrimp Scampi were among his specialties. Charles was a kind and giving man with a generosity of spirit which will be greatly missed.
Ever the joke teller, Charles had an uncanny talent for making people laugh. Whether or not a doctor, lawyer or anyone at all on the receiving end of his jokes, he always left them with a smile on their face. Keep those jokes going in heaven, my love.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Helen A. Schaefer, and father-in-law, Frank W. Schaefer.
Charles is survived by his wife, Judy Schaefer Gregg, his sisters, Carol T. Miller, Bowie, Maryland and Maureen V. West and her husband, Robert, Bowie, Maryland and nephew, Aaron Baker and his wife, Jennifer, Eureka, Montana. And, of course, his two loving cats, Midnight and Henry.
The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, November 30, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Avenue, Exeter. Funeral service will begin at 9:30 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow with graveside services with the Reverend James Alco officiating at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 612 Mount Olivet Road, Carverton, Wyoming, PA.
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate Geisinger ICU nurses, doctors and entire staff for the exceptional care and compassion that was shown to Charles and his family during this difficult time.

Born on September 08, 1931, in the Minooka section of Scranton, Ann was the daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (Summeral) Brennan.
Ann was a graduate of the former West Pittston High School, and also attended Luzerne County Community College.
Prior to retirement, Ann was employed as a payroll clerk for Acme Markets.
A faithful Catholic, Ann was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, West Pittston.
Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who devoted her entire life to her family. “So glad you are here and what can I get for you” were the welcoming words Ann used for anyone who came to her home. Family, friends, pets, and even strangers felt at home the minute they entered her home! Her loss leaves a hole in the hearts of so many, but her legacy of kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
Ann’s family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to her caregiver and dear friend, Ia, for her loving care of Ann over the years. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the nurses from Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassionate care they bestowed upon Ann during her final days.
In addition to her parents, Michael and Bridget Brennan, and her husband, Frank, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert, and her sisters, Helen Harzinski and Mary Brennan.
