He graduated from Dade City High School in Dade City, Florida, Anthony received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina and a Master of Education Degree from Lesley University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. Anthony was employed by the Williamsburg County School District as a teacher at the time of his passing. He worked as a Clinical Counselor at Florence County Mental Health, Florence, South Carolina, taught high school in North Carolina and at a Community College. Anthony also served as an athletic director, basketball coach, football and baseball. He was an active member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Obituary Preview: Mr. Ellis Washington Graham, a son of the late Elder Harris Millard Graham and the late Mary Etta Graham, both of Lake City, was born on May 29, 1943, in Barrineau, South Carolina. A loving husband, doting grandfather, devoted father and uncle, dutiful son and loyal friend, Mr. Ellis went to his rest on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at McLeod Hospital in Florence, surrounded by both local and out-of-town family members. He was a 1964 graduate of Carver High School in Lake City, and a member of St. Mark Believers Holiness Church. His affinity for music frequently landed him in three- and four-part harmonies with his brothers and his classmates when they were young men. He loved helping people, tinkering with automobile engines, and spending time with family and friends, and he looked forward to retiring to surroundings that were quieter than the bustle of city life. He enjoyed cooking, using instincts inherited from his mother to prepare the occasional memorable pound cake or fruit cake. He loved a dapper hat, a sharp suit, and an elegant pair of shoes. Mr. Ellis spent his thirty-five-year career working as a specialized heavy-equipment operator for utilities provider Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) of New Jersey, the bulk of which time saw him headquartered at their Orange Gas facility. A friend to many in a workplace characterized by rapid and steady-handed responses to emergencies, he was a member of union Local 855. Upon his return to Florence County, his easygoing manner, friendly eyes, and handsome smile were a welcome re-addition to the Olanta community. He is predeceased by his eldest daughter, Evelyn Graham, and his three brothers: Harris Graham, Jr.; Edward Roosevelt Graham and Myers Graham. Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Alberta Sowers Graham; his daughters, Sandra Graham-Mason (Mark Mason) of Glen Rock, NJ, and Cynthia T. Graham of Gainesville, FL; his sons, Ellis Fitzgerald Graham of Florence, Jason W. Murphy of Richmond, VA, and Justin W. Murphy (Evelyn Johnson) of Gainesville, VA; a granddaughter, Cyntell A. Graham, of Gainesville, FL; two grandsons, Ellis N. Graham, of Turbeville, and Miles Murphy, of Gainesville, VA; two brothers, William Graham (Delphine Singletary), of Lake City; Anthony Graham (Lorraine Bostic), of Columbia; a sister, Dianne McKenzie Small (Alfred Small); Melvin Smith (Mary Lou Graham), who so often added his household’s warmth and love to Mr. Ellis’ family; and a host of fond nieces, nephews and cousins, by all of whom he will be sorely missed.

Obituary Preview: On December 14, 1940, in Lake City, South Carolina, Francis Haley, affectionately known as ‘Sister’ entered this world. After 82 years of life, she was called into eternal rest on March 10, 2022. Francis is the oldest daughter of William and Blondell Graham, who have preceded her in death along with five brothers. She leaves to mourn her passing her sister Patricia Pasty” Graham of Boston, MA and her brother Donald Graham, also of Boston, MA. As a native of Lake City, Francis attended Carver High School, where she displayed athletic talent in Track and Field while excelling in academic subjects. During her late teenage years, Francis began her work history working seasonal jobs that often required her to be away from her family for many months. At 20 years of age, Francis relocated to Boston, Massachusetts. She believed in the importance of work and had acquired strong work ethics. While living in Boston, Francis worked for the same employer for multiple years. Most notably, she worked for the Gillette Company as a Product Safety Inspector for nearly 20 years. As a woman of Christian faith, Francis joined St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church. At St. John’s, she served on the nursing and missionary board. Her faith in Christ was strong and unquestionable. In 2001, Francis retired from The Gillette Company. She then returned to Lake City to live out her retirement and to be with her aging mother. As a devoted daughter, Francis's love and caring were unmeasurable. Upon returning home, Francis remained steadfast with her faith in God. She became a member of Mt. Clair Missionary Baptist Church and for a while was an active member until a chronic illness limited her ability for weekly attendance. Collecting antique figurines, home decorative items, and watching favorite TV shows were some of Francis’s pastime activities. She had a flare for fashion and always dressed impeccably for special occasions. In recent years, Francis become an ardent sports fan. She followed professional sports teams such as the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Despite the often hard and harsh realities of life she experienced, Francis possessed inner strength and wisdom that enabled her to overcome difficult and challenging situations. She was a soft-spoken even- tempered God-fearing woman with enduring qualities of kind-heartedness, empathy, and compassion. She loved to laugh and was fun-loving and good humored. Surviving her death to mourn are: nine nephews, five nieces, numerous cousins, neighbors, and many friends. Finally, the family wishes to express their thankfulness for the outpouring of love and support during this time of sorrow.

II Timothy 4:6-8 (KJV) Cleo Graham, the son of the late Toney Graham, Sr. and Winnie Britton Graham, was born on February 1, 1930 in Florence County, South Carolina. He passed quietly into his eternal rest March 1, 2022 at Lake City Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, the late Evangelist Alberta Graham, and son, Cleo Graham, Jr. Cleo attended the Florence County Public Schools of Lake City, South Carolina. After high school, he married the late Evangelist Alberta Graham and traveled to Washington, D.C., where they resided for over forty-two years. There, he became a member of Refreshing Springs Church of God in Christ. Cleo also joined and served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1952. He then went on to attend Armstrong Technical College and was employed by Osmann Bakery for thirty-two years. Once he returned home to South Carolina, he attended and was a member of Mount Beulah United Methodist Church. His memories will be cherished by: three brothers: Kirkland Graham, LaRue Graham of Englewood, New Jersey, and Toney Graham, Jr., M.D. of Lake City, South Carolina; grandson, Jamil Graham and granddaughter, Vaneis Graham; two great-grandsons, Avion Graham-Cruze and Aria Graham-Cruze, from New Jersey; a brother-in -law, Alfred Curtis Graham(AC); three sister-in- laws, Clazy Mae Graham, Genevieve Graham and Debra Graham from Lake City, South Carolina and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Fred came up and gave me his lunch ticket and walked away. He went without lunch for himself for me. “Fred would do yard work all day for four dollars and take the wages to buy supper for his family. Obituary Preview: Deacon Alex Gordon was the son of the late Eddie Gordon, Sr., and the late Moriah McFadden Gordon. He was born on July 18th , 1940. This union was blessed with 9 children, seven of whom preceded Alex in death. Alex attended the public schools of Clarendon County. He was a mechanic and agricultural farmer for many years, until his health declined. He joined Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Turbeville, SC, at an early age. Alex sung with many gospel groups. Singing was his passion (especially with his father, the late Eddie (Mossy) Gordon, as he was affectionately known to many, and his siblings). Alex was joined in Holy Matrimony to Joretha Smith Gordon on October 22, 1963. This union was blessed with seven children. Two preceded him in death, his son David Gordon, and his daughter Susan E. Gordon Burgess. He was also preceded in death by one son in law: Dennis Miller. Alex leaves to cherish his memory: his caring wife Mrs. Joretha S. Gordon, four beautiful daughters: Annette Fulton of Scranton, SC, Stacie (Jason) Duffie of Olanta, SC, May Gordon of Coward, SC, Vickie Miller of Scranton SC, two adoring sons: Clarence Gordon of Scranton, SC and Jonas (Pam) Gordon of Olanta, SC, one brother: Ervin (Nora) Gordon of Lake City, SC, sixteen grandchildren (five of whom preceded him in death), twenty-onegreat grandchildren, four sisters in laws: Pearlie M. Deacon Andy Fulmore - July 19, 1944 - February 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: On Thursday, February 10, 2022 Deacon Andy Fulmore, entered into eternal rest at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Deacon Andy Fulmore was born July 19, 1944 to the late Eddie and Frances R. Fulmore in Williamsburg County.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William Fulmore;  his two sisters: Dorothy Fulmore; and Daisy Fulmore; his daughter Mae Frances; his son Danny Hanna;  and his grandchild Hakeem Fulmore. He received his education in the Williamsburg County Schools. Later, he joined his father on the farm and worked many years as a farmer in his youth. He was employed by Lake City Cotton Company Lake City, SC; T. S. Ragsdale Lake City, SC and retired from W. Lee Flowers Scranton, SC after 28 years of service. Deacon Andy Fulmore enjoyed growing and working in his garden every year. He also owned and operated his own personal painting business called Fulmore and Sons. His love and dedication to his family
He met and later joined in holy matrimony to Laura M. Hanna Fulmore in 1963. This union was blessed with eight children. He joined New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, and  was ordained as a deacon; he also was church custodian and musician at the church. He helped the Sunday School department with the Easter program for many years. He started singing with the Royal Lights Gospel Singers at an early age also serving as lead guitar player. He later became the second lead singer and background singer of the group. When the Royal Lights Gospel Singers retired, he continued his singing career with his children who he trained to sing the gospel. While singing with his children he recorded two live albums, and two studio albums, traveling across the country.
He leaves to cherish his memories with his loving wife Laura M. Fulmore of 58 years. Four sons: Elder Sandy (Apostle Irene) Fulmore; Gregory (Neseline) Fulmore of Florence, SC;  Andrew J. (Lucinda) Fulmore of Lake City; Tedric Fulmore, of Kingstree, SC. Two daughters: Pamela N. Fulmore; of Columbia, SC; Erica Fulmore; of Florence, SC. Grandchildren he helped raise as his own Demekia  Johnson; of Greenville, NC; Jordynn Smith; of Florence, SC. Two grandsons: Jermaine(Yvonne) Fulmore; of Florence, SC; Cameron Johnson; of Columbia, SC. Three sisters: Ruby (Willie) Dowdy; of Teaneck, NJ; Pearlie Fulmore; of Newark, NJ; Cora Brayboy; of Florence, SC; One brother: Charlie (Barbara) Fulmore; Two sisters-in-laws: Katie Rose Gibson; of Hollywood, FL; Patricia Singletary of Lake City, SC;  Three Uncles Hosea (Lue) Graham; of Johnsonville, SC; Amos (Mary) Graham; of Lake City, SC; Dublin(Wanda) Graham; of North Carolina; Fannie Fulmore; of Lake City, SC; Lillie Graham; of North Carolina, Naomi Graham; of Florence, SC; Daisy Bell Green; of Lake City, SC; Elemena Frierson; of Cades, SC. 16 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren; One adopted grandson: Edwin "Buddy" Godwin and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Benjamin better known as “BB or Ben” was educated in the public schools of Florence County School District Three, Lake City, SC. BB was a long-time life member of Greater St. James AME Church, which he loved dearly. BB loved everyone he came in contact with. BB like being a part of church functions; he was a member of the Boys Scout Troop 113 and was awarded a life-long membership of the Sons of Allen. BB really loved being in the fore front, talking on the mic at church, or modeling his strut down the center isle of the church, or maybe sometimes beating the drums (after church of course). BB was a praying angel of God, he prayed morning and night or whenever he was touched to do so. Sitting in his chair, there was one thing he said all the time, “Thank you Lord for taking care of me.” His favorite song, “Remember Me” Family membes left to cherish BB’s memories: Sister/Guardians Cynthia (Lewis) Grant, JoAnn McAlister, Charles (Paulette) Singletary, Rev. She spent most of her days working as a domestic caregiver caring for loved ones and babysitting. She was a faithful member of Saint Stevens Baptist Church in Lake City, South Carolina and loved the Lord and gospel music. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing quilts and blankets, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She was the true epitome of grace, strength, beauty and wisdom and a matriarch to so many. Her laugh was infectious and genuine and she always greeted you with a big warm smile. A hard worker and always fearless. On the early morning of Friday, January 7th, 2022, the angels of death came to the Commander Nursing Home in Florence, South Carolina and called her from this world of pain and sorrow to a world of eternal life. Two sisters proceeded her in death Bernice Readion and Mary Delores Redden. She leaves to cherish two children Gracie L. She worked at Shaw Industries Irmo Plant and FN America and quickly rise to the top of being a Production Team Leader. Brenda loved her job and took pride in being a hard worker. In her spare time, Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was lively and full of joy; she was social and impacted everyone’s life with who she met. One of her many talents was interior decorating her beautiful home. She loved putting together flower arrangements and enjoyed Thrift Store shopping. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Lord and Savior and became a member of St. John Baptist Church in Columbia S.C. Brenda Wilson was survived by her husband Mr. Michael Wilson and her children, Mr. Christopher McGill daughter-in-law Mrs. Chezarie McGill; Son-in-law Mr. Nicholas Anderson and Mrs. Kaycha Anderson known by her mother as (Precious). Three Special Grandchildren, Samariah Wilson, Preston McGill and Christopher McGill, Jr; her siblings are Mrs. Claudia Barnes of Timmonsville, S.C. and Ms. Betty McFadden of Fayetteville, N.C. Cynthia Olivia Hammonds was born on September 20,1945 in Mount Vernon, New York and was called to her heavenly home on November 29, 2021 in Las Vegas Nevada where she lived for over 25 years. Cynthia was the eldest of a blended family of nine siblings. Her mother, Thelma Jenkins- Hammonds, Father, Gabriel Hammonds and Stepmother Rebecca Rush Hammonds preceded her in death as well as her husband Earl Roberts; siblings Kenneth Hammonds and Vivian Patricia Lewis and her lifelong friend and confidant Valarie Lawrence. As a young woman Cynthia received a formal education from Westchester County school systems where she received her diploma from Mt Vernon High School and later went on the receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Maters in Applied Technology from SUNY. She began working for IBM at the age of 19 starting off in the mail room and ultimately braking through corporate glass ceilings to become one of the few African American employees to IBM’s elite Global Audit team. A position that afforded her the ability to travel the world and “travel” she did. While at IBM Cynthia met her husband Earl Robert. She retired from IBM after a career of more than 45 years but not before receiving numerous awards for unsurpassed leadership and technical excellence. Cynthia being a self-made woman was fiercely independent and meticulous in everything she did. She emerged herself in activities that augmented personal growth like music, world travel, crafting African American collectibles, cake decorating, mentoring woman at a local shelter and feeding the hungry. To say that she had a love for the finer things in life would be an understatement. One of her most memorable trips was what she often described as a “journey of a lifetime” traveling with her; a group of friends, whom she called her “Circle of Sisters”, sojourning to The Holy Land to dip her feet in the River Jordon. Obituary Preview: Private First-Class Reese Herman Graham was born October 18, 1942. This bouncing curious baby boy was born to the late parents Vinnie “Sweet” Ramsey Graham and Sular Graham in Lake City, South Carolina. He departed this life and received his golden wings on Thursday, September 9, 2021, and went home to to be with the Lord at the Englewood Hospital, Englewood, New Jersey. Private First-Class Reese Graham received his education in the Public School System of Florence, County in Lake City, South Carolina. He enjoyed attending school where he was able to express himself through play and at the same time learning the necessary skills for life. As a child he attended Bethlehem Baptist Church, Lake City, South Carolina, where he grew up as a young boy and participated in various activities such as Sunday school and other church programs. During his late teenage years, he migrated to Englewood, New Jersey where his other siblings and cousins were residing. It was during this era of his life that he was drafted into the Military. He spent three plus years in the Army rendering service in the United States and abroad. Private First-Class Graham also received an honorable discharge from the military approaching his fourth year in the Army, leaving with special recognitions and honors. Upon returning to the states, he was employed with Master Etching Name Plate Printing Company of Englewood, NJ, for many years. One of his favorite jobs was M & K Alerus of Englewood, Vacuum Cleaning Repairs, and supplies. He spent his last few hours with M & K Vacuum Repair two days prior to his death. His employment also took to West Vacuum Cleaning Service and refurbishment of vacuum cleaners of Englewood, New Jersey. He worked at B&C Janitorial Supplies/Services and Vacuum Cleaners Repair with Cecil Fulmore, a mentor & friend that introduced him to the business which became a lifetime career, Paterson, New Jersey. His relaxation time was spent, especially with watching baseball, football, boxing, track and of course listening to Prince and Jimmy Hendrix...etc. He was a champion checker player too. Private First-Class Graham was an advent reader of all kinds of books. It was through reading that his world continued to be fulfilling especially the writings of ancient philosophers. Private First-Class Graham is preceded in death by his siblings, brothers, Paul Graham, Sular Graham, Jr., Ransom Cooper, and sisters, Pauline Graham and Rutha Mae Graham.
