Joni was born on January 4, 1961, in Enid, OK, to Lester Samuel Barnes and Sammie Joyce (Fennel) Barnes. After graduating from Enid High, she later attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva with a focus on Nursing. She spent almost 19 years working with people in some form within the medical field. Her love was interacting with people. Her great passions were singing and gardening. Anyone that knew Joni very long had the privilege to hear her sing. She was in Choir in high school and continued to sing serving her church with worship. She loved animals having a particular love for dogs and she was an AVID Oklahoma Sooners fan and would want everyone to do horns and pistols down. She married Del Johnson on May 5, 2006, on the beach in Maui, Hawaii. They have focused on family and church the last 16 years. She was the better half of the union, and he would admit to that. She was always joking, cutting up, and trying to bring laughter and happiness to the world around her. She also love dearly all 4 of her children. She used to say she had two litters that she loved equally. Three older children with a 24 year gap between the 3rd and 4th. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, spending it with her family and just loving on her children and grandchildren. Joni was proceeded in death by her parents Sam Barnes and Sammie Murray, a brother Brad Barnes, and nephew Tyler Barnes. She is survived by her husband Del and daughter Jaiden Johnson of the home in Oologah OK, Candace Green of Owasso OK, Son Chas and daughter in love Kristen Balzer of Pottsboro TX, Daughter Alisha Balzer of Collinsville OK, and brother Marty and sister in love Becky Barnes of Yukon OK. Grandchildren Hanah Balzer of Hillsdale, Sabrina Green, Breanna Green, Samarrah Green, Dominic Green of Owasso OK, Emma Balzer, Annabelle Balzer of Pottsboro TX, and Reagan Balzer Collinsville OK. She also loved several Nieces and Nephews, and her In Laws. Services will be held Saturday, June 4, at Oologah Assembly of God located at 13462 US-169, Oologah OK 74053.
