He married Helen Hein on July 26, 1946, and she joined him at Fort Sam Houston Army base in San Antonio, Texas. After his discharge, they returned to Chagrin Falls, where Floyd served in the National Guard. The couple stayed with brother Vernon’s family while building a small cottage of their own in Bainbridge Township. With the birth of their sixth child the family had outgrown their home and in 1965 they moved to a spacious Century home in Auburn Township where he lived out the remainder of his life. After returning from the service Floyd worked as an old-fashioned milkman delivering fresh dairy products to local households. Later he worked at Samuel Moore/Eaton Corp/Saint Gobain. Even with a houseful of children ranging from toddler to teens, he managed to serve with Geauga County’s Auxiliary Police in his spare time. Following retirement he served as trustee and treasurer of Auburn Community Church and was sad to see it recently disbanded.
