Obituary Preview: Betty McComsey was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, June 23, 1929, daughter of James and Helen Stoner. She was a member of the Highville Evangelical United Brethren Church. Upon marriage, she joined St. Luke’s Evangelical Church in Shillington, Pennsylvania.
A secretary for a Millersville State Teachers College Dean she married Oliver McComsey on July 1, 1950 at Highville Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Traveling throughout the United States was one of her passions, which she chronicled in diaries and photo albums.  She also spent many happy hours cultivating her garden and sharing her choice plants with family and friends.  In addition she volunteered her musical talents by playing the piano for the Sunday school at her church.  She was church secretary for many years. Lastly, she was an avid ice hockey fan.
Betty’s primary focus in life was her family, from her husband to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Her love was expressed through time spent, her legendary meals and special cookies, and her memorable smile. Her love will endure through the people she graced with her time and attention.
Following an illness, she passed on April 14, 2022.  We will honor her memory graveside Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Shillington, Pennsylvania.
Surviving are her son Oliver (and wife Kathleen) McComsey and her daughter Denise (and husband Fred) Schugart, two granddaughters Kelly (Stephen) Bennett and Erin (Daniel) Sea, and six great-grandchildren (Ethan, Rory, Nolan, and Brenna Sea and Austin and Jacob Bennett).

Obituary Preview: Bette A. Bateman, 75, of Wyomissing, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the Reading Hospital.
She was the wife of George J. Bateman, who died on Dec. 28, 2011.
Born in Ridley Park, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Grace (Province) Shrom.
Bette was a 28 years employee of the Rite Aid Corporation working at the Woodlyn, PA location.  She was a member of the Mosaic Church in Shillington.   Bette was an avid reader and loved to frequent libraries in our area.   She was a regular participant at PA Fitness, formerly Gold’s Gym.
Surviving are her children, Joseph A. (Christy) Bateman of Sumter, S.C.; Bonnie J. (Ricky) Kulp of Reading; Cynthia L. (David) DiRocco of Lehi, Utah and Tammy A., (Brandon) Dahms of Reading.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Linda Bateman of Folcroft, PA; Joseph Bateman of Bozeman, Montana; Matthew Bateman of Folcroft, PA; Melissa Bateman of Heidelberg, Germany; Sam Kulp, Fiancée of Alex Lowe, of Pottstown; Molly (Dylan) Byrne of Pottstown; Grace Dahms of Reading and Michael DiRocco of Lehi, Utah; and her siblings, Susan (Charles) French of Fairfax, VA and Paul (Patti) Shrom of Lancaster, PA.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton.  You may greet the family from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Obituary Preview: John E. Messner, 100, of Brecknock Township, passed away at the Reading Hospital on Thursday, April 7, 2022.  He was a guest at Country Meadows in Wyomissing for the past two years.
He was the widow of the late Jeannette E. (Seitzinger) Messner who passed away on February 15, 2005.
Born in Brecknock Township, he was the son of the late Wayne and Mary (Seifert) Messner.
Growing up, John attended the Maple Grove Schoolhouse.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during W.W.II.  Upon his discharge he went to work for Bollman Hat Factory and then to Carpenter Technologies, where he retired on July 1, 1987.
He was a lifetime member of the Pennwyn Motor Association, Gouglersville Fire Company, Adamstown VFW, and a member of Alleghenyville Evangelical Lutheran Church.  John enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland, gardening, hunting, fishing, playing quoits, picking morel mushrooms and going to the Hollywood Casinos.
Surviving are children Bruce E., husband of Jan E. Messner of Lynchburg, VA; Maureen F. Witwer of Apopka, FL; Ronald E. Messner of Brecknock Twp. and Ricky E., husband of Melissa Messner of Haymarket, VA.  Also surviving is granddaughter Amy J., wife of James Gunter of Arlington, VA and a brother, James A., husband of Susan Messner of Brecknock Twp.
He was predeceased by siblings: Jacob A. Messner, Samuel L. Messner, Elizabeth Hornberger, Mary Ellen Althouse and a grandson, Eric C. Messner.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Alleghenyville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1327 Alleghenyville Road, Mohnton.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton, and again on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church.
Interment will be Allegheny Union Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Country Meadows for their wonderful care, and also the hospice staff of Tower Health at Home for their care.

Obituary Preview: Melvin C. Kramer, 90 years old sadly passed away on March 30, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. His friends called him “Bo-Bo” and family called him “Poppy”.
The world became a brighter place on 7/12/1931 when Melvin was born to the late Irvin and Erma (Glassmyre) Kramer born in Reading Pa. Melvin lived a long, happy, and fulfilling life. He lived on a farm in Brecknock Township for most of his life, later moving to Ephrata making friends wherever he went. Melvin worked as a block and brick layer for R.A DeFrees, Inc. for over 25 years, then worked for Modern Mason until retirement. He enjoyed working on his farm, hunting especially with a bow and arrow, playing baseball, and playing a round of golf. He loved to teach his children and grandchildren about his hobbies and passions.  Melvin enjoyed spending time with family and friends where he was always laughing, joking, and playing pranks. His positivity and passion for life brought smiles to everyone he met, as he would always say, “Have fun and enjoy life!”
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Annabel Kramer, his Aunt Jenny and Uncle John Kissinger who raised him, his sisters Grace Kramer and Mildred Becker, his brother Harvey Kramer, his son Jeffrey Reed, and grandson Christopher Reed.
Melvin is survived by his daughter Pamela Leininger, Stephanie Rotz, husband Michael Rotz, and his son Bradley Reed, wife Vicki Reed. Melvin is also survived by grand-children Justin Leininger, Jason Leininger, wife Denise Leininger, Brittany Koenig, Caitlin Armao, husband Nicholas Armao, Emily Reed, Shelby Reed, Amanda Reed and Jamie Reed. His great-grandchildren include Luna Garvey, Blane Leininger, Jason Leininger Jr., Joseph Leininger, Jax Leininger, Julianna Leininger and Jett Leininger.
His loving and care-free spirit will be forever cherished and forever remembered. At Melvin’s request services will not be held, but we do appreciate your love and support during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

Krick, 84, of Bern Township passed away at Berks Heim in the early morning hours of Wednesday March 23, 2022 after a brief illness.   She was the loving wife of Richard D. Krick before his passing on August 31, 1990.  Born on February 21, 1938 in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clifford A. and Bertha P. (Spuhler) Rienecker.
After graduating from Governor Mifflin High School, she worked at American Casualty, owned and operated Krick’s Sporting Goods alongside her husband Richard, the March of Dimes and most recently served as Judicial Coordinator for the Honorable Peter W. Schmehl.
Ernie, as she was known to her family and friends, was a devoted and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She had many lifelong friends and made new friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed the beach, traveling to New York City and country line dancing. She loved listening to music, especially classical, and dining out with family and friends. Her kindness and positivity will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Tim Koharcheck of Muhlenberg, brother Carl Rienecker of Kenhorst, nieces Elizabeth, Ellen, Debra and Diane, nephews Carl Jr., Ian, David, Peter and Bruce. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son Stephan Paul Krick.
A visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 10:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton, PA 19540.

Obituary Preview: Michael K. Lutz, 62, of Brecknock Twp., passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
He was the husband of Sherry A. (Ebersole) Lutz, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage.
Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Leroy K. and Alberta C. (Frees) Lutz.
Mike was a 1977 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School.  After graduation he worked as a framing carpenter for Horning Construction then for RG Bortz Construction and was currently working as a custom millwork installer at HRT Installations.  He was a dedicated member of the Brecknock Twp. Fire Company, joining in 1979.  He was currently a Driver, but held various position over the years at the fire company including, Assistant Chief and Deputy Chief.
Mike enjoyed hunting at his camp in Huntingdon County and going camping in Potter County and at Shady Oaks Camp Ground in Newmanstown.  He loved riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Sherry are two children, Jason A., husband of Nicole M. Lutz of Morgantown and Joel B., husband of Ashlee L. Lutz of Mohnton.
Also surviving are his three grandchildren: Payton A., Carson J. and Kayleigh M. Lutz; and three siblings:  Kathleen Laudermilch of Muncy Valley; Norman, husband of Ann Lutz of Mohnton and Donald, husband of Donna Lutz of Denver.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Jack A. Reppert, 76, of Sinking Spring, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital in Reading, PA.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late William H. and Ethel Mae (Strunk) Reppert.
Jack was employed at Georgia Pacific in Reading and Alcon in Sinking Spring.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. serving during the Vietnam War.   He spent a lot of time with the neighbor playing chess, watching the Steelers and the voice.  Jack enjoyed summers playing corn hole and sitting by the fire.  He like to watch soccer on TV and going to the neighbor's kids sporting events.  Jack will always be missed especially during sporting events and holidays.

She was the widow of Robert M. “Bobby” Althouse, who died on November 3, 2009.
Born in Brecknock Twp., she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Mary (Seifert) Messner.
Molly was a graduate of the former Shillington High School.  She retired from the Bollman Hat Factory in Adamstown where she was employed as a secretary.  She was a lifelong member of Allegheny Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Molly was a loving and devoted mother for Bobby and her three sons.  She was a Den mother for Cub Pack # 241.  She was a wonderful cook.  Her holiday meals, especially the desserts, were outstanding.  Molly enjoyed gardening and was known for her beautiful flowers.
Surviving her are:  Children, Craig R. Althouse of Brecknock Twp.; Michael E., husband of Bernice Althouse of Millersville and Mark A., husband of Anna Althouse of Arizona; Grandchildren: Robin Althouse, Thomas Althouse, Joanne Marston and Matthew Althouse; Great Grandchild: Theodore Marston; Siblings: James, husband of Susan Messner of Brecknock Twp., and John Messner, formerly of Brecknock Twp.
She was predeceased by siblings: Jacob Messner, Samuel Messner and Elizabeth Hornberger.

She was predeceased by daughter, Lorie Seltzer, grandson, Judd Hart, great granddaughter, Shayna Hart, great great granddaughter Kennedy Henn, and her son-in-law, Eddie Hart.

Obituary Preview: Baron Dennis Strunk, 74, of Shillington, Pennsylvania, passed away at his home Wednesday January 26, 2022. He was born in the Reading Hospital. Barry, as he was known to his family and friends, was the son of Robert S. and Catherine B. (Stoner) Strunk. Baron was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mohnton, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Gov. Mifflin Senior High’s Class of 1965. After graduation he attended Reading High School and Berks Vo Tech for advanced technical classes.  After school Barry joined the US Army October 23, 1967 and started his service to our Country.  He was assigned to the Army 52nd Signal Company as Specialist 4th Class. Heading to Ft. Benning, Georgia he entered into the Basic Parachute School. Next stop was VietNam. After serving his Tour of Duty, Specialist Strunk received an Honorable Discharge on October 23, 1969. Returning to his life back in the States, he was a Union Labor worker for Ted Smith’s Flooring where he was employed for many years.
Baron was loved and admired by many. He had talent and a love of dancing. He was often seen on Dick Clark’s American Band Stand, Jerry Blavet, live tv show on Steel Pier and various other dance venues around the area. His handsome good looks and his dancing ability will be remembered forever by so many.
He is survived by his son Jeffrey Strunk and his wife Kristin of Minersville, Pennsylvania and is also survived by his daughter Susan and her husband Nor Zeroual of Pottsville, Pennsylvania; grandsons Adam and Avery Zeroual of Pottsville; and a sister Gail wife of David Butler of Jacksonville, Florida.
Services and Memorial of Baron’s life will be held later this year by Giles and Yeckley Funeral Home, Mohnton, Pennsylvania. Internment of his ashes will be in the Mohnsville Cemetery, Mohnton, Pennsylvania.

Ronald J. Redcay - November 05, 1938 - January 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ronald J. Redcay, 83, of Shillington, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Gloria L. (Ruth) Redcay.
He was the son of the late Stanley F., Sr. and Evelyn (Weik) Redcay.
Ron was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School and the Wharton School of Business.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1956 to 1960.  He was a longtime employee of the Dana Corporation in Reading, retiring in 1998 after 35 years of service.  He worked at the Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home as a Funeral Associate for over 20 years.  Ron was very active in his community as a member of the P.O.S.A. Washington Camp in Mohnton, where he currently served as Recording Treasurer and was a past President.  He also was a past member of the Mohnton Cumru Lions Club, where he served as President and Treasurer.  He was a faithful and active member of Zion E.C.C. in Mohnton, where he served as a past Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Governing Board and Sunday School Board for many years.  Ron loved life!  He loved his children and their families, and he relished his time with family and friends especially at holiday dinners and picnics.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children:  Randy J. (Ellen) of Eloy, AZ; Kevin S. (Michelle) of Bernville and Barbara A. (Thomas) Ernst of Grill.
Also surviving are grandchildren:  Kathryn Peplinski, Ryan and Christian Redcay; Kerryn Redcay-Turner (Stephen) and Kellen Redcay; Nathan, Natalie, Colin and Amelia Ernst; and great grandchild Ellie Jade Musick.
Siblings:  Martin A. (Rosalie) Redcay of Mohnton; Stanley F. Redcay, Jr. of Mifflin Court; Dennis G. (Bonnie) Redcay of Sinking Spring; Donna M. Beissel of Shillington and Bruce D. (Jamie) Redcay of Silver Spring, MD; and sister in law, Linda Redcay of Mohnton, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings, Nancy Parker, Robert M. Redcay and Terry K. Redcay.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 57 N. Church Street, Mohnton.
A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Interment with Military Honors will be held in Mohnsville Cemetery following the service.

Sandra was a longtime employee of G.K. Elite in Reading where she was employed as a seamstress and at the Taverna Restaurant in Reading as a chef.  Sandra loved her family and attending all of the family events.  She loved to “shop until you drop” with her daughter and cherished getting to dress up and go dancing on a Saturday night.
Surviving are two daughters; Gena L. Mogel, fiancée of Robert L. Dawson of Myerstown and Cheryl L. Lopez of Mohnton; ten grandchildren; David Lopez, Derek Starke, Joseph "Danny" (Amanda) Pereiva, Dylan Starke, Dante Starke, Mariah Brown, Cassie Graboski, Tyler Graboski and Steven Sallada; siblings: Barbara (Roger) Fisher, Jackie (Robert) Kerns, Miriam (Evan) Lambros, David (Connie) Mogel, Charles (Sandy) Mogel, Scott (Lisa) Mogel, Frederick (Erica) Sallada, Gina Sallada, Emma Lutz, Leah Mertz, Trudy Pagan; and John Hoover.   Also surviving are eight great grandchildren and 18 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Ernesto "Tito" Lopez, Jr., grandson, Ryan Lopez-Graeff, siblings, Carol Jean Mogel, George Hoover and Sonny Hoover.

She was the widow of Warren Hobson, Jr. who died on February 20, 1999 in Texas.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Erich O. and Elizabeth (Mengel) Helbig.
Alma was a graduate of the former Shillington High School, class of 1947 and a graduate of Temple University, class of 1951.  She taught at Public schools in suburban Philadelphia prior to moving to Germany for a year to teach.   Upon her return, she moved to Texas in the 1970’s where she enjoyed painting and sculpting.
She is survived by her siblings, Erich H. Helbig, husband of Connie of Rochester, N.Y.; Barbara L. Brown, widow of John, Jr. of Shillington; Margaret E. Bruder, widow of Leonard, Jr. of Grill; Carolyn M. Hatt, wife of Dennis of Mohnton; Karl J. Helbig, husband of Carole of West Lawn and Gerald R. Helbig, husband of Chris of Webster, N.Y.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two siblings, Catherine M. “Kate” Helbig and Robert H. Helbig.

Obituary Preview: June Blankenbiller Schaeffer, 97, of 112 Cortelyou Ave., Montrose Manor, Shillington, died January 4, 2022 at Phoebe Berks in Wernersville, where she was a resident for over four years.
June was born June 21, 1924, in Mohnton, Pa., to the late Lawrence and Amie (Remp) Blankenbiller.
She graduated from Shillington High School. Except for a few years of living in Wildwood, NJ or Dover, De, she was a lifelong resident of the Shillington area.
June enjoyed visiting with and caring for her family whether through dinners, watching local youth sports or visiting them at distant states.
She loved to travel by automobile, cruise ship and RV giving her and her husband the opportunity to visit many of the States, Mexico and Canada.
Very active in her church, St Luke’s EC Church, of Shillington, Pa. She taught in Sunday School, served with the Busy Bees and helped coordinate and decorate for Church dinners and “Sweet Heart” Banquets. She also was active with Christian Business Women and hospital visitations.
She was employed as a bookkeeper for various companies such as CarTech, various banks and Handy Personnel for over forty years.
She was the loving wife of George Schaeffer, Jr who predeceased her in April of 2008.
Surviving is a son Capt. George (wife Deborah) Schaeffer USN(Ret) of Clermont, Fl. and a daughter Debra Shartle of Richland, Pa.
She leaves behind five grandchildren: Tom Schaeffer of Bowdoin, Me., Melissa Good of Blaine TN, Lori Strickler of Harrisburg, Pa, and Brandon Schaeffer of Braintree, Ma. and Owen Shartle of Lancaster, Pa.  Additionally, she leaves nine great-grandchildren: Tyler Marmontello, Travis Imboden, Cody Good, Allison Wunder, Dakota Wunder, Christian Wunder, Amellia Schaeffer, Alexandria Schaeffer, and Abigail Schaeffer, and two great-great grandchildren; Jack and Avacyn.
Donations to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Fairview Cemetery in Shillington, Pa.

Nancy was in the last class to graduate from the former Mohnton High School in 1953.  She retired in 1990 after 30 years of service at Carpenter Technology working in the order entry department.  She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Reading.
Surviving is a daughter, Denise L., wife of Gerald Weinsteiger of Exeter Twp. and a grandson, Adam S. Weinsteiger of Exeter Twp.   Also surviving are siblings Warren L., husband of Bobbie  Wolfe of Colorado Spring, CO; William R. Wolfe of Hampton, VA; Brenda S. Wolfe of Mohnton and Doris R., widow of Homer Kline of Muhlenberg Twp.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Scott Miller in 1998, and brother’s Larry J. Wolfe and George R. Wolfe.
Relatives and Friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton.
A viewing will be held on Monday from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Shillington.

Gladys was a longtime school secretary at the Brecknock Elementary School.  She was also employed as a Legal Secretary for Terrance Connor, Esquire.  She was a devoted member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Mohnton where she sang in the church choir.  She was a member of the G.W.F.C. Woman’s Club in Mohnton.  Gladys’s volunteered her time as a Den Mother for the Mohnton Boy Scouts and was head of the Day Care Center at Colonial Hills Bowling Alley, and most recently assisted at Calvary Care in Mohnton.
Surviving are two sons:  Dan, husband of Kathleen Herbst of West Lawn; Robb Herbst of Henry, VA; Grandchildren:  Aislynn Herbst of West Lawn; Aviane Herbst, Esposo of Erik Hoff of Rockville, MD and Ardin, husband of Hannah Herbst of Hanover, PA.
She is survived by siblings:  Joyce Witmer, Arlene Crouse, Ruth Schlegel, Gloria Fryberger and Anna Guldin.  She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. from Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton, with Pastor Tamie J. Scalise, officiating.

Obituary Preview: Benjamin I Jacobs, 78, of Mohnton passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, surrounded by family. He was the husband of Louise Jacobs, to whom he was married 54 years.
Born in Reading on July 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Benjamin F and Miriam Jacobs.
Ben was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era, serving as a prison guard at the USNDC in Portsmouth, NH.  Following his service in the Marine Corps, he worked mainly in heating and air conditioning until his retirement.
He was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church, Reading.
Ben loved his family and animals more than anything else in the world. He loved going camping and being with his children and grandchildren.  He was a very devoted husband and father and always made people laugh wherever he went. He lived life to the fullest.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children. Jeffrey Jacobs, fiancé of Desiree Albright, Wyomissing; Becky Reifsnyder, wife of Jay Reifsnyder, Mohnton; and Krista Jacobs, Shillington.  Ben also had three grandsons: Christopher Jacobs, Jamie Molet and Korey Jacobs. One step-grandson, Cameron Barr.  There is also one great-grandchild (Parker) and three step-great-grandchildren (Izzy, Saylor and Savannah).
He is also survived by his twin sister Beatrice Walters, widow of David Walters, Reading and his sister Sarah Rose, Minneapolis, MN.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Janet Keller, wife of Joseph Keller, Blandon.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 8th at 11 am at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home, 21 Chestnut St, Mohnton, PA 19540. Family and friends may attend a visitation from 10-11 am December 8th. Interment will follow the service at Millcreek Cemetery in Newmanstown.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Richard Villforth, 101, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Betty M. (Rickenbach) Villforth whom he married on December 18, 1948.
Born in Reading, PA, he was a son of the late Frederick J. and Gertrude (Moll) Villforth.
Richard graduated from Reading High School, Class of 1937.  He attended Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute and was employed by the Berkshire Knitting Mills.  On December 11, 1941, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps.  He served as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After his discharge, he attended Bucknell University and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He was a member of Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society.
He was employed by the former Gilbert Associates, Inc. for 35 years.  He worked on the design and construction of fossil fuel and nuclear power generating stations in the U.S., Spain, Japan, Korea, and Yugoslavia.  At the time of his retirement in 1985, he was serving as Manager of Projects.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Reading where he served in many positions including Trustee, Sunday School Officer and had also been a member of the Bell Choir.  He was also active in the Reading Berks Conference of Churches where he served on the Board of Directors, the Finance Committee and for 20 years was Chairman of the Easter Dawn Service Committee.
Dick was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are:  Daughters, Kathleen, wife of Oliver McComsey of Shillington; Joyce, wife of Craig Caltagirone of Shillington.
Four Grandchildren:  Kelly (Stephen) Bennett, Erin (Daniel) Sea, Laura (Zak Bowman) Rudy, and Megan (Nick) Habecker.
He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick J. Villforth, Jr. and George R. Villforth and one sister, Maryan Christman.
