Nelson was one of a kind. To know him was to love him. He will be missed deeply.

Besides his parents, Nelson was predeceased by his brothers: Domingo, Carlos, Tito, Daniel, and his sister, Esther Aponte.

As a child she relocated to Bridgeport, CT with her family. She attended local elementary school and matriculated to Warren Harding High School and graduated in June, 1978. While attending high school she was part of the Warren Harding High School womens softball team. Immediately after graduating Michelle (as she was affectionately known by family and close friends) became a camp counselor for the City of Bridgeport. That summer employment introduced her to her lifelong sweetheart, partner and best friend, Willie Gene Pettway. They married on June 26, 1982. The couple enjoyed numerous road trips together as Michelle was fearful of flying.

She was gainfully employed with Park City Health Care and Bridgeport Manor as a CNA until 1998. Michelle enjoyed and appreciated attendding baking classes at A.C. Moore wiith thoughts of becoming a pastry chef.

She was immeasurably hilarious - fun to be around and always cheered others up with her quick wit and jokes. She loved to laugh, bake, listen to music and shop - but most of all, spending time with her family was extremely important to her. Michelle had a warm-hearted soul, infectious smile and was loved by family and friends alike.
