Joyce Hope McPherson - November 20, 1927 - May 31, 2015

Departed: 05/31/2015 (Fruita)
Obituary Preview: Joyce McPherson Born: Sun., Nov. 20, 1927 Died: Sun., May 31, 2015
Joyce was the daughter of Rush and Lille (Austell) Wynkoop. She spent her early childhood on the family farm near Verdon Oklahoma, where she was born.  She was one of twelve children. Her Father sold the farm when she was nine years old and the family moved to Arizona. The following years were spent in Appleton, Mack and Fruita Colorado and Eakly Oklahoma. In June of 1946 Joyce met Robert McPherson. In July they were engaged and on August 11th they were married at the Fruita Assembly of God church where they had met. They where blessed to happily share the next 66 years!
The family grew with Stanley Marvin’s arrival in 1947, Linda Kay in 1949, Michael Lee in 1953, Danny Gene in 1956 and Roberta Joy in 1957.  Motherhood was a precious job and Joy loved and showed pride in each child equally!  She was also very proud of her Grandchildren and Great-Granddaughter and loved them beyond measure.  Each in-law who married into her family was also much loved. A special gift to her family was the beautiful house she and Bob built for their family.  Joy designed it and together they hammered many nails that hold it securely to this day.  She had the ability and ambition to decorate it beautifully and the love to make it a home.  They were happy and content to live there from 1956 till their final days!
Hard work defined who Joy was.  She raised large gardens, canning and freezing her harvest to feed her family and others each year.  She was an accomplished seamstress with the ability to look at a piece of fabric and envision the finished product.  From a young age she made beautiful clothing for herself and her family.  She enjoyed crochet, embroidery, knitting and quilting.  She was also a talented oil painter.  Her home is filled with the evidence of endless hours of labor and her fabulous creations!  She loved her flower garden.  It is filled with many varieties of flowers which lifted their beautiful blossoms toward heaven bidding her farewell as she left us.  Her hands were never idle. Other activities she enjoyed were camping, hiking, reading, playing dominoes and working jigsaw puzzles.  Above all else she enjoyed company.  Countless delicious meals were prepared through the years.  She loved Bob’s Family and her brothers, sisters and their families dearly.  Even as her years progressed, she kept track of their descendants, always interested in the names of new babies and was so excited when there was an opportunity to be with them! Above all else, Joy loved the Lord.  She read the Bible through many times and she lived her life showing God’s love and ioy to everyone she encountered along life’s journey.  She worked many years as a beloved Sunday school teacher and VBS worker.  She was always glad to help in any way needed at Church events.  After her loss of Bob, she was proud to be part of the “Victory Violets” at Victory Life Church.  Seeing friends and family at church every Sunday was a highlight of her final years!  There is great comfort in knowing she is now with her Savior for eternity!
She is survived by her Sons, Stanley (Helen), Mickey (Peggy), and Daughter Roberta (Mark).  Grandchildren Jody (Malea), Joe (Heather), Marla and Autumn.  Great-Granddaughter Sierra.  Step Granddaughters Diane, Karen and Teresa, Step Great-Granddaughter Kayla and their families.  Brother A.J. Wynkoop.  Sisters Dorothy Roland, Mary Young, Leatha Kettle and Leona Justice.
Those who welcomed her to heaven were her parents and husband, infant son Danny, daughter Linda, sisters Lois and Virgie, brothers Ivan, Eddie, Paul and Stanley and many of her brother and sister-in-laws. Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing important information to friends, family, and community members. They can also help to notify people of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences.

Who typically writes an obituary?
