Billye Marie Moore Milner - February 26, 1934 - April 21, 2024

Departed: 04/21/2024 (Shreveport)
Obituary Preview: Billye Marie Moore Milner passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana, at age 89. Funeral services will be conducted in the main sanctuary of Broadmoor Baptist Church on Saturday, April 27, at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Tom Harrison and Dr. John Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends at 12:00 p.m. in the Broadmoor Baptist Church Worship Center North before the funeral service. Following the service, a private burial for family members will take place. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home.
Born and raised in Oak Grove, Louisiana, Billye graduated from Oak Grove High School and quickly followed with an Associate Degree in Business. Working at GMAC in Monroe, she met her future husband, Joe Milner, at a party - it was love at first sight. They married on December 22, 1955. Billye's steadfast commitment saw her working throughout Joe's military service at Fort Gordon and supporting them through his law school years at LSU in Baton Rouge. Their journey eventually led them to Shreveport, Louisiana, where they would build their life together.
Billye dedicated her life to nurturing her family in a Christian home, embodying love and faith every day and instilling values that would guide her children through life. She had her three boys inside Broadmoor Baptist Church nearly every day the doors were open. She taught Sunday School and sang in the Church Choir for many years. She was deeply involved in her boys’ upbringing- volunteering tirelessly as Classroom Mother, Cub Scout Den Mother, PTA officer across multiple schools, and chaperone on numerous school trips.
Billye loved gardening, which reflected her love for nature and the simple pleasures of life. She loved cooking and entertaining, filling the home with love and the laughter of friends and family. Traveling with her husband and later with friends and church groups, she explored far-flung destinations including China and Russia, always eager to learn and experience more of God’s creation. And in other times, you could find her playing Bridge, a game that fostered connection with friends. Her legacy is one of love, service, and the countless lives she enriched. We celebrate her life and the memories we hold dear, knowing that her spirit continues to guide and inspire us.
Billye was preceded in death by her parents, Kirby and Sadie Moore; and by her husband, Joseph William Milner. She is survived by her son, Dr. Joseph Milner, Jr. and wife, Dana of Shreveport, Louisiana, Dr. Michael S. Milner and wife, Nora of Dallas, Texas, Martin Milner of Monroe, Louisiana, and former daughter-in-law, Jill Sharp of Shreveport, Louisiana. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Derrick Milner of Dallas, Texas, Sarah Milner of Austin, Texas, Dr. Emily Milner of Boston, Massachusetts, Lauren Milner Schaller and husband, Kyle of Dallas, Texas, Martin Milner, Jr. of St. George’s, Grenada, West Indies, and Miranda Milner of Ruston, Louisiana.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Harry Hobbs, a cherished friend of Billye’s, who offered her unwavering support and companionship in recent years.
Honoring her as pallbearers are her nephews and great nephews: Lynn Moore, Jeffery Moore, Brian Moore, Spencer Moore, Mason Moore, and Alex Moore.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Missions Committee Fund of Broadmoor Baptist Church.

Betty Sue Williams Cobb - February 26, 1934 - April 04, 2024

Departed: 04/04/2024 (Shreveport)
Obituary Preview: Sue Cobb passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at home surrounded by her entire family. Sue, fondly known as Mimi or Super Sue, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 26, 1934. She was lovingly married to Joe K. Cobb until his death in 2010. They owned and operated Cobb’s Bar-B-Q in Bossier City, Louisiana for over 67 years. For her, the Bar-B-Q was more than a job, it was a place of ministry. Every day she looked forward to meeting new people, visiting with old friends, and sharing the love of Jesus with all. Her kind and caring reputation was known throughout Shreveport/Bossier and will undoubtingly leave a lasting legacy.
Sue deeply loved her two daughters, Vicki S. Cobb, MD and Lisa K. Cobb, CPA along with their husbands, John Bundy, Jr., and Rodney Madden. She wholeheartedly supported them in all that they did. Her pride and joy were her three grandchildren, Colton Madden, Garrison Bundy (Maggie) and Breanna Bundy (Adam Fletcher).
The only thing Sue loved more than her family and Cobb’s Bar-B-Q, was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She attended church faithfully and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. Due to vision impairment, she knew much of the Bible by heart and taught passages from memory. The joy Sue radiated to others did not stem from herself, rather it was the love of Christ shown through her.
The family would like to thank “The Council” for their many years of friendship to Sue. The family sincerely thanks the compassionate caregivers who dedicated themselves to her these past few years.

William Anderson Glenn M.D. - September 25, 1922 - March 29, 2024

Departed: 03/29/2024 (Shreveport)
Obituary Preview: Dr. William A. Glenn, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Good Friday, March 29, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born in Tyler, Texas in 1922, one of six children, and grew up on a farm during the Depression. He faced his death as he lived his life: with courage, curiosity and joyful anticipation.
During WWII, he served as a United States Marine in the Pacific Theater. He married the love of his life in 1945, his wife of 73 years, Mary Margaret Hitchcock Glenn. At the end of the war, he enrolled at the University of Texas with the goal of becoming a medical doctor. His high academic achievement earned him the nickname Glenn-stein, and earned him a slot at UT Medical School in Galveston. He completed his internship in the Navy, where he then served as the medical officer aboard ship during the Korean Conflict. He returned once again to UT Galveston to study the newly formed specialty of Anesthesiology. He was an innovator and inventor, designing solutions for any problems he might encounter, not just in medicine but in all facets of his life.
Bill had many passions in life, one of which was golf in all its aspects. He enjoyed making golf clubs himself and loved instructing his grandchildren in the finer points of the game. Though they often tried, none of his grandsons ever succeeded in beating him on the golf course. His wife, Margaret, was his favorite competitor. When Bill retired from his medical practice, Margaret retired from the kitchen which inspired him to take up a new hobby, cooking. Margaret commented that he was like a French housewife - after his round of golf, he went almost daily to shop for what he needed for that day’s evening meal. He was extremely proud of the many compliments he received for his culinary skills. When many of his favorite activities fell away because of age, and then the pandemic, Bill revived a talent for painting. Each work he produced was carefully and lovingly designed for individual family members and friends with their unique interests in mind. He also had great hair. A proud super-ager at 101 ½ years, Bill shared his advice for longevity: don’t neglect your faith, exercise regularly, learn things all your life, study and read books, all things in moderation, and “to thine own self be true.”
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura Leigh Glenn; his four brothers, John Wesley Glenn, Jr., James Walker Glenn, Leigh Wilson Glenn and Frank Seay Glenn; two sisters, Laura Louise Arnold and Mary Elizabeth Walters; son-in-law, Harold Crump and by his wife, Margaret Glenn with whom he created a large, close-knit family. He was deeply devoted to his four children, Leigh Crump, Beth Glenn Price (Ken), Clare Coburn (Jeff), and Jay Glenn (Mary Lynn); nine grandchildren, Drew Gilmer, Paige Castaneda (Sal), Barrett Ingram (Macie), Walker Coburn (Amy), Leigh Flood (Kevin), Mary Pettiette (Pete), Clare Glenn, Logan Glenn, and Katie Glenn; and 15 great-grandchildren, Salvador Castaneda, Abi Castaneda, Ava Ingram, Emma Ingram, Daylin Ingram, John Luke Ingram, William Coburn, Thomas Coburn, Amelia Coburn, Lily Clare Flood, Andie Flood, Christian Flood, Howell Pettiette, Theo Pettiette and Liam Glenn.
The family wishes to thank all of Dr. Glenn’s gracious and compassionate caregivers from Hand in Hand Hospice, Montclair Park and Home Health Professional Assistants.
The funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 522 East Flournoy Lucas Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana beginning with a visitation and Rosary service at 10:00 a.m., and a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Rothell Price officiating. A brief inurnment service will be held at 1:45 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Ave.

Betty Jane Kelley - December 03, 1932 - March 09, 2024

Departed: 03/09/2024 (Shreveport)
Obituary Preview: A graveside service for Betty Jane Kelley, age 91, will be held at Forest Park East Cemetery on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. Officiating will be Father John Henson.
Betty Jane Kelley died peacefully at the Memory Cottage at the Glen, Saturday March 9, 2024, surrounded by family.
Born in Darnell, Louisiana, she grew up in Shreveport. Betty Jane graduated from Byrd High School in 1950, from Centenary College in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in music, and from Louisiana Tech in 1972 with a master’s degree. She began playing the piano for Wallace Lake Heights/Temple Baptist Church as a teenager, and then later “married the preacher,” Rev. Raymond Kelley. Their marriage lasted 48 years until his death in 1998.
A true partner in ministry, she served with Raymond in various local churches and filled her demanding role as pastor’s wife graciously. Her tasks included playing the piano and organ, leading choirs, vacation bible schools, summer camps, Sunday school and training union classes, arranging altar flowers, cooking communion bread, organizing banquets and fellowships and whatever else needed to be done.
She began her 25 year career as a public school music teacher in 1967 and loved to teach her students to sing, play recorder and Orff instruments, and introduce them to classical composers, folk and seasonal tunes, rhythm games and movement stories like the favorite “Bear Hunt.” Super organized, she managed all this while raising 3 children and teaching as many as 45 piano students.
After retirement, she became a master gardener and turned her energies to flowers, grandchildren and travel. She had the gift of listening, was slow to criticize and was always interested in knowing what her children and grandchildren were doing. She was “designated worrier” for the entire family and really turned up the attention when anyone was sick. A model of consistency and grace, she exemplified a life well lived and we are all the better for her 91 years on this earth.
She is survived by three children Karen Lewis (and husband Buddy), Kyle Kelley (and wife Charlene) and Kandee Flint. She has five grandchildren Wesley Higgins, Frances Kelley, Sarah Kelley (and husband Alex Pace), Hayden Flint, and Kelley Ann Flint (and husband Kevin). She has five great grandchildren Gracie Higgins, Caroline Higgins, Harper Higgins, Maggie Kelley, and Chip Pace.
The family wishes to thank Life Path Hospice, the fabulous staff of the Glen Memory Cottage and in particular her two extraordinary primary sitters with Golden Gate Nursing, KeKe Tilmon and Precious Church. Since Christmas these two have attended to and anticipated every need of Betty Jane and have been like family.
Suggested memorials can be made to Betty Jane’s last two places of ministry: Church for the Highlands where she was charter member and pianist or to the music ministry of First Baptist Church Shreveport where she led the children’s choir.
