And whispered, "Peace be Thine". It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

Departed: 01/29/2023 (Omaha)
Obituary Preview: Darlene Sylvia Monteaux Oliver, 88, passed away peacefully at home in Flower Mound, Texas on January 29, 2023. The youngest of nine children, Darlene was born on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota on September 21, 1934 to Enoch and Clara Belle Murray (aka Bonser) Monteaux. Nicknamed "Tweety" by her sister, it wasn't until she started school that she learned her real name! The family lived in Valentine, Nebraska and later moved to Omaha. She graduated from Central High School in 1952, and then attended the Minneapolis School of Music before marrying Richard Herndon and moving to New Jersey where daughter Renee was born. Two years later the couple moved to Dallas, Texas where they welcomed their second child Jim. Darlene and Richard later divorced and Darlene went back to college, graduating with a diploma from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She then married Jerry Tennant and had two more children, John and Tom. She and Jerry, though eventually going their separate ways, always stayed connected through their children. In 1975 Darlene joined daughter Renee at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and finished her undergraduate studies. She earned a BS degree in Nursing and worked as a Nurse Practitioner until she felt called to a different path, honoring her heritage by devoting the rest of her career to Native American and other under-represented minority students attending BYU. Working in the Department of Multicultural Services, Darlene wore many hats. She was a teacher, counselor, mentor, and friend to students from many Native American tribal affiliations and other cultures from around the world. While working full time Darlene completed a Master's Degree in Health Education at age 51, and was selected Valedictorian of her class. She was a dedicated administrator and respected colleague at BYU, but when it was time to retire she was ready! Desiring to spend more time with her family she moved back to Texas where she loved being a grandmother. Even though Alzheimer's robbed her of her memories, she never lost her sweet nature or beautiful smile.
Darlene was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was preceded in death by her brothers Glenn, Norman, and Merle; sisters Pearl, Verna, Esther, and Maxine; nieces Gwen and Judy; great granddaughter Evi; and youngest son Thomas Bruce Tennant, who was called to Heaven less than 8 months ago.

Dee Moos was born on February 2, 1968 in Omaha, Nebraska. On that day the world was made a better place. She had a contagious smile and a laugh the brightened even the darkest of days.
Dee grew up in Valley, Nebraska. She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior when she was eight years old, a few years later she was baptized publicly showing her love and dedication to Christ, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Valley. She graduated from Valley High School in 1986. She had several jobs when she was growing up. She worked for Bevington Quarter Horses and for Midwest Aggregate for a while. She then moved to Mariana Industries where she worked for over 25 years. She had a strong work ethic and did everything with kindness, compassion and professionalism. She was dedicated to her work and very loyal to her team.
Dee had such a passion for animals. She even went to school to be a vet tech for a year. She started this love at a young age with her Chihuahua Tuffy. She had a cockatiel, chinchilla, barn cats, black labs Jessie, Baron, Stryker and horses Beau, Teddy, Whisper, and Apache. She took such pride and joy in her animals. She loved taking care of them they were such a joy to her.
Dee was a complete music lover. She hated it when an artist explained the lyrics because that would change how relatable the song was to her. She loved to go to concerts and was always so happy to go with John, K.C. and Harley. She was very excited that she got to go with Trent to his very first concert. Her favorite group was Depeche Mode and she was thrilled when she got to go and sit in the front row at two different concerts. She also loved musicals especially "Wicked" which she saw twice last year.
Dee loved all things autumn, Vala's pumpkin patch, Halloween, haunted houses, her Halloween porch, her spooky town and so much more. Vala's was such a special place to her. She had a season pass so she could go as often as she possibly could. She even took her computer and worked from there a few times just because she loved it so much. Halloween was also something she loved so much. She enjoyed taking part in the themed costumes for the family. Some of these were planned years in advance. It was always kept a secret until that night.
Dee was so adventurous she was up for almost anything. She loved to travel and went a lot of places, but her favorite of all was Padre Island Texas. She loved to have the salty breeze on her face and the sand beneath her toes. She cried every time she went there and would first see the ocean. She would sit for hours on the beach just to watch the waves. Set up with her camper (which of course was impeccably clean) Harley, her family nearby and the ocean in view...this was paradise to her. Dee's family meant the world to her. She always said "I love having the best family in the world". She was protective of her family in every aspect. She loved just being with her family. If it was important to her family, it was important to her. It didn't really matter
