Joseph John Mitchell - April 03, 1946 - March 30, 2022

Obituary Preview: Joseph John Mitchell, a proud Vietnam Veteran, passed away on March 30, 2022. Joe, as he was known to family and friends, was born on April 3, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA to James and Catherine (O’Donnell) Mitchell, grew up in Oaklyn, NJ and attended Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, NJ. Joe worked briefly in a machine shop before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he served 18 years and was part of the Alpha Company 3rd Battalion 2nd STB.
The U.S. Army recognized Joe for his honorable service by awarding him with the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
After his military career, Joe moved around the country until settling in Columbia, SC working as a maintenance manager for an apartment complex. Joe spent his final years in Fayetteville, NC at the North Carolina State Veteran’s Home. As a young boy, Joe was interested in military history and loved when family vacations included visits to military forts and battle sites. As an adult traveling around the country with a good camera and an old-school map, Joe often gave his passengers whiplash in his efforts to photograph every historical marker he came across.
Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Mitchell, and his parents. He is survived by his son, Chad Davis and his daughters Judy (Jim) Hughes, Kelly Holihan, Jamie (David) Gunsallus and Joedie Mitchell, as well as his three grandchildren, Kyle Holihan, Devin Holihan and Darby Hughes, his siblings, Bill (Dawn) Mitchell, Roe Miller, and Lori Mitchell. A memorial celebrating Joe’s life and military career is being planned for May.

William was preceded in death by his father William Monroe Davis Sr.; one sister Cathy Ann Davis; grandparents on both sides; multiple aunts and uncles, and three precious grandchildren that never made it into the world.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law and friend. Above all  Will cherished his family and friends. As long as everyone else was happy, Will was happy. He could make you smile in a second and laugh until your sides ached. Will was a generous man who you never had to ask more than once for help. He had many passions, his family came first, and if he wasn’t home with his family or at work, he was riding his motorcycle and hanging out with his brothers.
Although he will be sorely missed, we celebrate the time we had with him. The unforgettable memories he leaves with his family and friends will forever live on in our hearts. We Love You Will!

Joseph is survived by his son Joseph Lewis Womack and wife Allison of Pittsboro, NC; his two nephews, Al Pittman of Myrtle Beach, SC and Lee Pittman of Supply, NC; and his two grandchildren, James Alan Womack and Joseph Cameron Womack both of Pittsboro, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dorothy Pittman.

Tysun Joshua Dostie - August 26, 1980 - March 01, 2022

Obituary Preview: Tysun Joshua Dostie, born August 26th, 1980 in Santa Barbara, CA gained his angel wings March 1st, 2022 at age 41. A resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Tysun fought bravely for many years against Ewing Sarcoma but lost his battle surrounded by family and friends.
Tysun grew up in Maine before earning his electrical engineering degree from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. After graduation he was offered a job at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville where he worked for 18 yrs.  He met the love of his life, Carrie, and they married in 2007.  They had 2 beautiful girls Lily and Grace and a son, Watson, who departed this Earth way too soon in 2015.
Many know Tysun as a very kind and very quiet man but those close to him knew how incredibly funny he was. Tysun loved all animals, good food, roller coasters, sports, the outdoors and anything to do with technology but his family was always his main priority.  This became even more evident as he fought through SO much cancer pain over the years because he never wanted to leave his wife and girls.
Tysun was so good at every role he filled, from husband to father, son to sibling, son in law to brother-in-law. Even at the end of his life as he fought cancer he pushed through the pain to celebrate birthdays and holidays and never gave up trying to extend his life.
Tysun is survived by his wife Carrie and his two daughters Lily and Grace of the home; his father Larry and mother Susan Dostie of Fuquay Varina, NC; sister Rachelle Dostie of San Diego, CA; brother Berek Dostie of Richmond, VA; several nieces and one nephew.
A private service at the request of Tysun will be held at a later date. Above all else, Tysun would love you to honor him by spending time with your family and friends and eating something delicious.

Hugh Gordon Rose - February 24, 1940 - February 27, 2022

Obituary Preview: Hugh Gordon Rose was born on February 24, 1940, in Barbados W.I., the fourth of ten children, to Edwin and Orme Rose. He migrated to the United States to join his family in Brooklyn N.Y. in 1956. He went on to college and obtained a degree in languages prior to joining the Army in 1958.
Hugh served two years in the Army and then became a NYC motorcycle cop. He retired from the police force and moved to the State of North Carolina where he lived until God called him home on February 27, 2022.
He is survived by his son Matthew Rose of LA; his three daughters, Cecilia Rose, Patricia Chandler, and Renee Rose all of NY; two brothers Cedric Rose of NY and Edward Rose of CA; and three sisters, Edme Lord of TX, Erma Riley of NY and Ann Ford of GA.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Anthony Rose, Orville Rose and Hamel Rose, and one sister Oriel Brewster.
A Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in Rogers and Breece Chapel at 2 PM with Rev. Joseph King officiating.

Michael Lee Gould - April 10, 1959 - February 04, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gould, Michael “Mike” Lee, age 62, of Fayetteville, NC passed away peacefully in his home Friday, Feb. 4, 2022. He graduated from Lake Central High School, St. John, IN, in 1977. Mike received his BA in History and Political Science from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, IN in 1981. Mike worked his way up to General Manager with over 30 years in the hospitality industry for various well-known hotel chains in Merrillville, IN; Charlottesville, VA; Hilton Head Island, SC; Fayetteville, NC. He also was a real estate Broker-in-Charge for over 10 years. His most recent employment was at the Sandhills YMCA.
As for community organizations and brotherhoods, Mike was a longstanding member of the Cape Fear Kiwanis Club for 18 years. He proudly served as Master of Clifford Duell Lodge #756(2013, 2015). Mike was also a member of Creasy Proctor Lodge #679 and the Fayetteville York Rite. He was secretary-treasurer for the Masonic Center of Fayetteville for 11 years. He was also a member of Knights of Pythias, Cumberland Lodge No. 5. At his church Mike served as choir director and clerk of the vestry at St. Paul's in-the-Pines.
Preceded in death by his mother, Lucrezia (Taylor) Gould. Mike is survived by his loving wife Rachel (Flores) Gould, father Floren Lee Gould, sisters Laurel Ross and Jessica Gould-Bozarth, nephews, and niece.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022 at St. Paul's in-the-Pines Episcopal Church, 1800 St. Paul Ave., Fayetteville, NC 28304, with Father John Frazier officiating.

Laura enjoyed life, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who were fortunate to know her.
