Obituary Preview: Freda Mae Beckett, 85, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away December 9, 2021. Freda was born on May 10, 1936 in Kentucky to Sanford and Frances Lykins.
Freda worked as a laundress for a nursing home for a short while, however her greatest job was taking care of her family. She loved spending time with her grandkids. They were her inspiration for the day.
Freda is survived by her son, Tom (Angie) Beckett; daughter, Thomasina Wilmer; son, Jay (Audrey) Beckett; grandchildren: Tiffany (Michael) Knight, Jessica Beckett, Paige Wilmer, and Landon Hudson; and great-grandchildren: Jaden, Faith, and Kayceion.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Jay Beckett, Sr.; and daughter, Rhonda Hammersly.
Freda will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Family Choice starting at 11am. A funeral service will follow at 12pm.

Obituary Preview: Frederic J. Hostman, 89 of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away unexpectedly December 8, 2021. Frederic was born on October 18, 1932 in Olympia, Washington to Richard and Alice Hostman.
Frederic proudly served and retired after 27 years from the United States Navy as a Senior Chief Petty officer in 1977. He was an active member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 5. After retirement from the United States Navy he worked another 20 years at Berkley Machine in Norfolk as a Machinist.
Frederic found great enjoyment in weekly Tai Chai classes, spending time with his loved ones with special enjoyment of his time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed the relaxing weekends spent at Lake Gaston with his family and sunning himself on the deck. He had an undying love of horses and horseracing. You could often find him at the OTB (off track betting) on Sundays with his daughter Susan and son in law, Jimmy. Frederic loved his Monday Morning breakfasts at Village Inn with his son Tim. He cherished these times immensely.
Frederic was the gentlest and kindest man to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, Husband and friend with a heart of gold and huge generosity.
Frederic was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Alice, His siblings, Jeanne, Richard, Katherine, Dolores, and Alice and the love of his life, Elise K Hostman.
Frederic is survived by his Son-Tim Hostman (Cathy) of VA Beach, Daughter and Loving Caregiver, Susan Healey (Jimmy) VA Beach, Sharon Kruse (Roger) Kansas, and Step Son John Beslanovits, (Melanie) Nevada. Grandchildren David Taylor, Michelle Taylor, Hillary Casantini, Brittany Hostman, Spencer Hostman, Hunter Hostman, Christy Kruse- Morrison and Danny Kruse. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Freddie worked as a baker for Bakefresh Bakery for 20+ years. He loved to cook, dance, spend time with family and he would always light up the room with his good sense of humor.
Freddie was survived by his wife of 27 years, Marisol Cabrera, daughter; Karen Cabrera, son; Fredirick Cabrera, and grandson; Kaiden Villanueva. His siblings: Rufino Cabrera, Noel Cabrera, and Jojie Cabrera. Freddie will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. We will miss him dearly until we meet again!

Obituary Preview: Donald M. Montgomery Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA passed away Tuesday December 7th, 2021, at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA.
Donald was born October 3rd, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Donald M. Montgomery Sr. and Mary Ellen Wilson.
After graduating from Central High School, he attended college then joined the military. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy for 24 years where he found the dental field specifically prosthetics to be his passion. His career took him from Missouri to San Diego, CA to Jacksonville, FL to Key West, FL then back to California before heading to southeast Asia. He returned to California to be sent to Memphis, TN then western Australia and finally returning to the United States to settle in Virginia Beach, VA where he retired.
His quick wit laced with sarcasm only added to his charisma which was unlimited. He never met a stranger, could talk to any one usually did. Donald loved the sport of bowling and used it to travel the country. He met an enormous amount of people that quickly became close friends and even family. He gave back to the sport by coaching the jr. bowling league at NAB Little Creek. He remained in the lives of those juniors to adulthood and was always called “Coach”.
By his side through it all was his beloved wife, Linda; daughter, Mickey (Art) and his son Monty (Karyn). He dearly loved his grandchildren: Erin, Rian, Bradley, and Natalie. He considered his sister's children Phil, Rick, Karen and Connie his children as well. He also leaves numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Donna Bennett. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Monday December 13th, 2021, at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations. Obituary Preview: Edward L. Hardin, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on December 5, 2021. He was born in Cameron, Oklahoma in 1934 to Beulah and Lonnie Hardin. He was predeceased by his parents, and wife of 61 years, Virginia “Gina”.
Edward, leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Edward and his wife Susanne; daughter, Cara Haley; daughter, Lynn Volk and her husband Kirk; son Eric; grandchildren Laura, Melanie, Cheyne, Nathan, Lindsey, Ashley; sister, Melba (Roland “Bud”) Ranks, niece April and nephew James.
Edward joined the Navy from an ROTC program at the University of New Mexico and became a Commissioned Officer upon graduation. Edward and Gina were married in GA in 1957 while he was attending Naval Supply School. He served 21 years in the Navy including tours aboard the USS Ranier and USS Montrose. After he retired from the Military, he took a job with the City of Norfolk as a Deputy Director of Social Services until his final retirement in the early 90’s. During his retirement he volunteered with Special Persons Mailing Service and enjoyed time with his family.
Edward was a loving husband and devoted family man. He loved his children and grandchildren and made sure he was present at their sporting events, music and dance recitals, and special events. He enjoyed any event that brought the whole family together. He was also a devoted member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church and the Men’s Breakfast Bible Study. Friends and family knew him to be a kind, generous man, often forgoing material possessions in order to make sure those around him were provided for. He was always willing to help those in need. He loved exploring new places and had a routine of revisiting places he loved. He will be deeply missed by those closest to him.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the many dedicated caregivers who cared for him during his time of need.
A service celebrating Edward’s life will be held at Kempsville Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. A burial will take place at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA at a later date. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.familychoicefunerals.com.

George proudly served and retired from the United States Navy as an E8 Senior Chief Electrician’s Mate in 1983. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and Mensa. He loved his family, fishing, football, and current events.
George is survived by his daughters: Tanya J. (Darrell) Freeman, Angela R. Jenkins, and Lei-Challa D. (Eli) Lee; son: Daryl E. Jenkins; grandchildren: TJ, Joshua, Latasha, Lauren, Christopher, Nora, Miranda, Marcus, Darrell, Brianna, and Kaydence; as well as multiple great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, George E. Jenkins Jr.

Obituary Preview: Tami Alicia Millan, 37 years young, passed away on November 29, 2021 from various health conditions related to breast cancer. She passed away at home surrounded by her husband and children. She joins her twin daughters, Hope and Faith, in heaven. She is survived by her immediate family of her husband and six children, as well as other family members from the Midwest and West Coast.
Born May 12th, 1984, as Tami Alicia Windler, she grew up in Kansas City, Missouri with her parents and older brothers. Due to some family issues, she spent the majority of her teenage years living in various family and foster homes. It was during that time when both her parents and oldest brother passed away. She continued living in the foster care system until aging out when she turned 18.
She married her husband Jeffrey Paul Millan on July 26th, 2002. Because of her time in foster care, and after being told she couldn’t become pregnant, she and her husband vowed to become foster parents and adopt children. The Lord changed those plans by allowing them to become pregnant and giving birth to Natalie in November 2003. Lucas followed in February 2007. In September 2008, they gave birth to Hope and Faith, conjoined twins who survived only a few hours after birth. Aaron was born in December 2009, followed by Emily in October 2011, Bennett in April 2014, and Lily in July 2019. Tami lived for her children, homeschooling them and training them on the things of life.

1960 in Providence, Rhode Island to Eugene and Ruth Szczepanski. Eva worked in child nutrition at Tarrallton Elementary for over 20 years. While working at Tarrallton, she met so many wonderful people that became some of her dearest friends and family. She was a Girl Scout leader for over 15 years and helped shape the lives of many young girls and women while creating lifelong bonds with many. Eva’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved sharing stories of the family farm when she was a little girl, life in Vermont watching the leaves change in the fall, growing up in Ohio, and all the adventures she and the family went on. She loved visiting Colorado as much as possible, often taking as many grandkids as she could with her. She loved the outdoors, and was a lover of animals. Eva was a loyal and loving friend and was always there to share words of wisdom, a shoulder to cry on, or a helping hand. She loved with an intensity that often left a mark on those she came in contact with, no matter how brief. Eva was the type to give the shirt off her back to help those in need, especially when it came to her grandchildren or the children she worked with. Even towards the end of her life, her only concern was for those around her. She was a remarkable woman and will live on in the
memories of the many people who she touched over the years. Eva is survived by her husband of 33 years, Keith; sons: Michael (Cheyenne) Szczepanski, and Peter (Jennifer) Hutchinson; daughters: Erica Hutchinson and Rachael Hutchinson; grandchildren: Stanley Michael, Michael, Logan, William, Sophia, Scarlett, Anthony, and Emily; mother Ruth Szczepanski and
brother Joseph Szczepanski; honorable mentions: Ann Gaylord and Paula Miller. She was predeceased by her father Eugene Szczepanski and brother Michael B. Szczepanski. Eva will

Mauri was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Bill, in December 2004.
Our parents moved from Blossburg, Pennsylvania to Virginia Beach in 1985 and loved living near the beach and enjoying time with family and friends.
Mauri lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, and Registered Nurse.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2022.

Rose worked as a Sr. Manager IT Site Support for over 28 years at QVC in Chesapeake, VA. Rose began her career at AT&T in Dallas, Texas on July 12, 1968 where she worked for 17 years before relocating to Chesapeake, VA where she pursued her IT advancement at QVC for almost 29 years. She retired as a Senior Manager IT Site Support on October 6, 2017.
Rose was extremely active in fostering and adopting dogs, especially beagles and volunteered as the Treasurer at Blackwater Fire Rescue Station 13 in Virginia Beach, VA.
Rose is survived by Sisters: Mary Josephine Dunn, three sons, Louise Marie Thompson, two sons and a daughter of Garland, Texas, Agnes Cecilia Johnson, husband John and two daughters of Garland, Texas, Alice Frances Gallegos, husband David and two sons of Sunnyvale, Texas, Anne Theresa Dunn, son and daughter of Dallas, Texas, Juanita Elaine Robertson, son and four daughters of Blossom, Texas. Brothers: Thomas William Dunn of Paris, Texas and Joseph Francis Dunn, wife Holly and one daughter of Dallas, Texas.
Rose was predeceased by her father, John Emmett Dunn, mother Josephine Mary Dunn and brother John E. Dunn.
Rose will always be remembered as a loving and generous sister, aunt and friend.
Funeral mass is at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, VA on November 30, 2021 at 10am. There will be no reception following the funeral mass. Please make any donations to Fire and EMS Station 13 Blackwater.

She later married William Dienhart and they bought a home a few doors from her mother to remain close to her. Connie was the aunt to many nieces and nephews who simply adored her. Connie was full of live, life, and character. She began as a first best friend to her nieces & nephews. She worked hard her entire life and through many trials and tribulations maintained her faith and always believed in the best in life and people. The void Connie leaves behind is beyond words. He also owned and operated Legacy Guide Service and worked out of C. Pierce Farms Hunting Preserve. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a past officer of the Little Creek Bassmasters.
Allen is predeceased by his dad, Robert Carl Horton (Wally),grandmother and brother. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Horton, 2 brothers Michael and spouse Coralynn Horton and Bruce and spouse Lorraine Horton, nephew David.
The celebration of life will be held at Kempsville Ruritan Club, 5146 Ruritan Court, Va. Beach on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10 am.

Tammy is survived by her husband, Alan Lintz; daughter, Jen Kennedy (Charlie); grandchildren Jacob and Henry Kennedy; sister Renee Gilmore (Gary); brother Clyde Stanlake; niece Amanda Langworthy; nephew Joshua Gilmore; and many wonderful great nieces and nephews.
Tammy was a Utility Coordinator with SL Nusbaum and will be missed by her colleagues. Tammy’s favorite activities were sitting on her back porch drinking her wine and going on her weekly commissary grocery trips with her daughter to socialize. She made friends everywhere she went, and her smile was infectious. Tammy treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and embraced every moment with them. She loved to cook and shop for an army even though it was only for her and her husband.

Cliff, was born on December 30, 1971.He was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world.
Cliff was also a passionate adventurer and could often be found sailing, cruising, flying, building, working on cars, working, spreading his knowledge and experience with burn survival, when he was or wasn’t at home.
Anyone who knew Cliff knew that he was the most loving father, husband and friend anyone could ask for.
Cliff is survived by: his wife, Maureen Golby; two daughters; Mary Poettker and Melissa Poettker and husband Justin Smith; five grandchildren: Micah, Shaylee, Brody, Hunter and Ryder; parents: father, Clifford Golby and wife Mary Golby and mother, Sherry Norman; sister, Kara Spoor and husband Charlie Spoor; as well as his nieces, Brianna, Cadie and Piper.

David is survived by his wife Christine; his two sons, Ronald Jay and Geoffrey Lloyd; two grandsons, Ronald David and Christopher Robert (all of Virginia Beach); one sister, Inez Bjorklund of Faribault, MN; sister-in-law, Violet Kern of Mankato, MN; sister-in-law, Juanita Enlow Gray (husband Jim) of Buxton, NC; two brothers-in-law, Marvin W. Enlow of Ft. Valley, GA, and Horace M. Enlow (wife Dorothea) in TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Emma Kern; his stepmother, Esther Kern; two sisters, Elta N. Kern of Memphis, TN, and Audrey Kern Inman of Sitka, AK; one brother, Robert G. Kern of Mankato, MN; two nephews, Thomas Kern of Hutchinson, MN, and David Inman of Sitka, AK.
David will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 6th at Hope Lutheran Church starting at 11am.

Born in Chesapeake, Virginia on December 13, 1959, he was the son of Virginia Smithson Weatherly of Newton, NC and the late Horace Weatherly. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda Hayes Weatherly; son, Phillip Weatherly, wife Amber and grandchildren Eva, Luke, and Benjamin; and daughter Kimberly Weatherly Armstrong, husband Matthew, and grandchildren Hannah, Lilly, and Isabella.
In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is survived by his mother; brother Douglas Weatherly and wife Kristy; brother David Weatherly and wife Juli; sister Jennifer Koch and husband Tim; and other much loved extended family members and friends.
Growing up and into early adulthood, Joe spent many happy hours on the family farm. He was an automotive technician at Priority Chevrolet in Chesapeake for 34 years, obtaining the ASE level of Master Technician. Joe was an active member of Bible Believers Baptist Church where he enjoyed leading the song service.
A public viewing will be held at Bible Believers Baptist Church in Virginia Beach on Friday, October 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Alma was a long time resident of Portsmouth, VA and a faithful member of Point Harbor Community Church in Chesapeake. Alma worked for W.T. Grants in Portsmouth before going to work for Portsmouth Orthopedics and Associates in the insurance and billing department. She retired from P.O.A. after 25 years of service at the age of 72.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved daughter Carolyn Poole Johnson of Louisa, KY; grandson, Eric W. Loulies (Betsy) of Laveen, AZ; step-grandson, Kevin L. Johnson (Wendy) of Virginia Beach; step-daughter-in-law, Jennifer Johnson; great-grandsons: Ronin W. Sondra was born in Trenton, New Jersey on April 16, 1961 to Charles Sutphin and Delores Harris (deceased). Our Lord gifted the 5-year-old Sondra Delores Sutphin to Jerline Clark who raised her.Jerline Clark is the only mother Sondra has known and affectionately called 'MOM.' She was educated in the public school system and graduated fromTrenton Central High school in 1979.Upon completion ofhigh school Sondra joined the United States Navy in 1980 and retired after 20 years of service to our country as a Petty Officer PO1.She was also a 20-year retiree as a Navy Payroll Transportation Manager Specialist, Civil Service Division.
Sondra submittedand accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in April 1981.Her loving heart, contagious smile and general love for people was revealed through her service to our country,community, family and friends.Sondra also volunteered at her local house of worship The Great Awakening United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and directed the children's choir.Sondra really enjoyedbasketball, fishing, music and especially playing cards. In 2009 Sondra met her game partner turned life partner and fiancé Nikki Ash. They talked of marriage at the time of her demise.
Sondra will be remembered by her mother Jerline Clark, brother Eric Clark, sister Denise Reed, fiancé Nikki Ash, daughter Aaliyah Ash, grand-daughter A’Kiyah Ash, and a host of family and friends.
A Homegoing service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at The Great Awakening, United Church of Christ at 12 noon. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
