Archie was born April 1, 1945, in Vance, South Carolina. Archie was the son of the late Bozzie James and Carleatha James.
Archie worked in maintenance for Hudson House Tenants Corp in Ardsley, New York, and was loved by all the staff and residents. He enjoyed watching baseball, fishing, playing the lottery, and traveling with family. Obituary Preview: Carolyn Fields Willis, the daughter of the late Henry Fields and Rachel Hart Fields, was born on October 25, 1939, in Dorchester County, South Carolina. She was educated in the schools of Dorchester County. Carol was an avid Basketball player at Alston High School. As a result of her excellent athletic record, dedicated service to her school, and the highest standards of conduct and character, she was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame on May 3, 2003. Carolyn accepted Christ as her Personal Savior at a young age and was a faithful and dedicated member of Baum Temple AME Zion Church. She served in many capacities in the Church, including Ushers Ministry, Steward Board, and Choir Member. On October 21, 1957, Carolyn Fields was united in Holy Matrimony to the Love of Her Life, William S. Willis. To this union, six children were born. For eighteen years, Carolyn was a dedicated employee as a Security Guard on the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Upon retirement, she was employed with the Dorchester County Disabilities Board. To know Carolyn, affectionately known as ‘Sista Fields,’ was to love her. She had a heart of gold and was the glue that held her family together. She was a nurturer, provider, disciplinarian, Prayer Warrior, and had a love for everyone. On Wednesday, February 23, 2002, God saw fit to call Sister Carolyn Willis from her work on earth after an extended illness. She leaves to cherish her fond memories: Her loving Husband of sixty-four years, William S. Willis; four sons: Gregory Willis, Carl Willis (Roberta-Fiancé), Artie Willis, and Kevin Willis (Denitque); two daughters: Gentry Willis and Margie Willis. She has 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Two sisters in laws: Jessie Moore (the late Willie Moore), and Viola Aiken (Charles). She has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Obituary Preview: Joyce Davis Jenkins was born on February 9, 1952, to Albertha Davis, in Eutawville, South Carolina. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in Charleston, South Carolina.
Raised by her grandparents, Profit and Lurline Davis, Joyce was the second of nine children: Rebecca, Gloria Ann, Woody, Carolyn, Willie, Edward, Louise, Annette, and Brenda. During her formative years, she attended school in both Eutawville and Columbia, SC. It was during these years, she met the love of her life, Lazarus Jenkins Sr. They were married on September 4, 1971. From their beautiful union came four sons.
After completing high school, Joyce studied nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina. She began her career at Methodist Oaks (formerly Methodist Home) in Orangeburg, SC caring for the elderly. After leaving Methodist Oaks, she worked for the Orangeburg County Disability and Special Needs Board until her retirement in 2017, after serving over 44 years in public service. She loved her profession and was extremely dedicated; working long hours, nights, weekends, and early mornings away from her family. She always took the time to care for all of her patients and was admired by her colleagues.
Joyce loved the Lord. As a child, she attended church with her grandmother and later joined Saint James Missionary Baptist Church. As a faithful member for over 40 years, she served on the usher board and as a deaconess, always greeting members with a smile.
She leaves behind to mourn: Lazarus Sr., her husband of 50 years; sons Terrence (April), of Bowie, MD, Derrick (Lyndora) of Eutawville, SC, Lazarus Jr. of Eutawville, SC, and Brandon (Izumi), of Japan. Her six brothers and sisters, four sisters-in-law, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren (who she truly adored), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, her church family, and a host of friends. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Obituary Preview: On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, as the morning sun began to rise, our Heavenly Father called him home to rest.
Mr. James Goodwin Jr. was born August 30, 1941, in Vance, South Carolina to the late Mr. Whittaker Goodwin and Mrs. Lula White Goodwin-Powell.
On June 11, 1964, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Lula Bell Davis Goodwin. To this union, five children were born with Adrian, Emmanuel, and Eunice Goodwin preceding him in death.
At an early age, James joined Live Oak A.M.E. Church. He was a great family man and made friends with everyone whom he met.
James joined the Army on November 17, 1963, and was deployed to Vietnam. Upon returning home he took up employment as a long distant truck driver. In time he developed his own trucking business until he retired in 2004.
James leaves to cherish his precious memories: a daughter, Sharon (Anthony) Oriente; a son Michael (Cynthia) Goodwin; five granddaughters, Briana (Donny), Ashley, Nicole (Johnny), Cassandra, and Amanda; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Genevieve Ash and Geralease (John) Green; one brother Walter (Peggy) Goodwin; two sisters-in-law, Earlene Washington, and Annie Goodwin; one aunt Leona Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was born June 11, 1950, in Vance, SC. Mamie was the daughter of the late Walter Montgomery and Maggie Wright Montgomery of Yonkers, NY.
Mamie retired from Westchester Medical Center in, Valhalla, NY where she worked for more than thirty years. She was a role model for many family members and friends and was known for her giving spirit. Mamie was an active member of the choir, Mother’s Board, Deaconess Board at the First Community Baptist Church in White Plains, NY under the direction of Pastor Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her father Walter Montgomery, paternal grandparents Harry and Celie Montgomery, maternal grandparents Van and Quinnie Maggie Wright, cousin (more like a sister) Celia Mae Montgomery, and sister-in-law Lou Ella (Stella) James.

Patricia "Dollie" Young - December 25, 1953 - January 27, 2022

Obituary Preview: Those who have suffered much, have lived long.  Present suffering is not enjoyable, but life would be little without it.  God with his almighty power; who is too wise to make a mistake and too just to do wrong saw fit on Thursday morning January 27, 2022  at 11:15am at home to quietly take the soul of Ms. Patricia Young.      She was born on December 25, 1953 (68 years old) in Eutawville, S.C to the late Omega Sr & Mamie Lee Young.   Everyone knew her as "Dollie".  She attended Roberts High School in Holly Hill, S.C.  from 1968 to 1972.   She was a member of the Upper Bound Program.  While in school, Dollie earned extra money by being a bus driver in the 11th & 12th grade and working on the family farm.  Upon graduating from high school, Dollie attended South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, S.C.  for a year; majoring in Nursing.  She did not go back the following year, she stayed at home to help take care of her younger siblings.   Dollie loved her family.        Dollie became a member of Live Oak A.M.E. Church in Vance, S.C. at an early age.  Where she served faithfully as a past Trustee member and past Secretary of the Pastor's Aide Ministry.  Dollie current roles of the church were Stewardess, Class Leader, President of the Hospitality and Culinary Ministry, Lead singer of the Senior Choir, member of the Mass Choir, Secretary of the Women Missionary Society, member of The Pastor Aide Ministry.  She participated in the church anniversary ; served as the custodian of the church.  Dollie loved the Lord and was always willing to help anyone.      Dollie participated in early retirement from Family Dollar Store in Orangeburg, S.C.. She made sure everyone had school supplies to go back to school with.  She was a devoted homemaker and her favorite hobby was COOKING !  Her life had an impact on many!  Dollie's speciality was everything , you named it and she cooked it!  Just to name a few,  stew chicken and rice, baked chicken, yellow rice, ham, hoppin Johns, neckbone and rice, collard greens, turkey, mac n cheese, hash and rice & yams with butts meat, etc !          She leaves to cherish her precious memories five sisters:  Ms. Patsy Young of Lebanon, Pennsylvania,  Ms. Doris Young of the home, Ms. Carol Young of Dallas, Texas, Ms. Valaria &  Ms. Ophelia Young of Charlotte, N.C.. Five brothers, Mr. Nathaniel Washington of Holly Hill, S.C.,  Mr. Irvin (Laura ) Young of Jersey City, N.J., Mr. Wardaniel, Phillip & Omega Young, Jr. (  Jackson -whom she took care of for 22 years ) of the home.   Dollie did not have any  children, and she helped raise Afeni, Anthony & Monae of Lebanon,  Pennsylvania.   She also helped raise Aki' ( Ga), Gardner (N.Y.), Jalen ( Conway, Arkansas), and Tyler ( Greensboro, N.C.) and they call Dollie, Cha-Chi !  In  Cha-Chi's heart, all of them are her children!  They always look forward to coming home to visit, and calling her in advance for her to cook their favorite meals, including her baby sister, Ophelia !  Dollie also leaves to cherish, one Aunt, Betty Fowler of Eutawville, S.C. whom she loves dearly; a close friend Mrs.  Almetia Gillard of Vance, S.C., close 1st cousins as siblings of Eutawville, S.C. Rudean (Larry), Jacqueline, and Charles Young.   Adopted siblings : Naomi, Evelyn, Teresa, Alfred and Rosabell.   Dollie loved to travel out of the county on cruises with her BFF, Naomi !      Dollie has nine nieces, twelve nephews, three great-great-nieces, five great-great nephews and a host of adopted nieces and nephews!     Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home. She was born to the late Agnew and Jessie Jenkins on June 26, 1947. She was educated in the public school system of Orangeburg County and worked for Ramada Inn hotel for many years. She was a devoted church member of Refuge New Calvary Church.
Verlee had a special love for people and they loved her back. Her hobbies of choice were fishing and cooking. This was evident by her going fishing and then having a community fish fry.
On November 2, 1965, she married Louis Rush of Holly Hill, South Carolina. This union was blessed with four girls, one of whom, Arlene Rush, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three loving daughters, Audrey (Richard) Green of Plantation, Florida, Mariah Williams of Boston, Massachusetts, and Lora (Phinazee) Brown of Loganville, Georgia, two brothers: Randy (Chrissy) Jenkins of Vance SC, Minister Joseph (Rutha) Jenkins of Eutawville, SC, one sister: Elizabeth Sumter of Vance, SC, one brother-in-law, eight sister-in-law, one Aunt Jessie Small of Holly Hill, SC, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four special friends: Gloria Williams, Annabelle Bradley, Judy Wright, and Eula Grant, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
