Michelle Ann Rizzi - March 18, 1981 - April 18, 2024

Departed: 04/18/2024 (York)
Obituary Preview: Michelle Ann Rizzi, 43, of Dover, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 18, 2024 after a swift, fierce battle with cancer. She was born on March 18, 1981 in Silver Spring, Maryland to Anthony Rizzi and Nancy Rizzi (Davis), who preceded her in death.
Her family moved to Princess Anne, Maryland when Michelle was eleven where they started a chicken farm. Here she attended Holly Grove Christian School where made many lifelong friends.
After her graduation in 1999, Michelle attended Duquesne University as well as the University of Pittsburgh. During her time here she met several friends that turned into family over their 25 years of friendship. These friends, along with the newfound independence of adulthood, provided Michelle with the confidence to not only learn and explore new things about herself but embrace her true self without fear of judgment.
Even though her time on this earth was short, Michelle lived a full life that was anything but boring. She was always up for an adventure and the promise of a good time. From moving to Hollywood for a few months on a whim, to spur of the moment trips between Pittsburgh and Maryland.
She eventually settled in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and began a 17 year long career with the Rite Aid Corporation. Michelle’s hard work, intelligence and dedication made her an integral part of the Third Party Operations team.
Michelle’s favorite pastime, before becoming a parent, was napping. She made it known to everyone that she hailed from a family of avid nappers. She also enjoyed drinking a quiet cup of coffee “on the lanai” on warm days, again before becoming a parent. She loved to play video games but often complained because they quote, make the games too hard these days. She eventually found a game that better suited her capabilities when she stumbled upon the 1990’s Oregon Trail game for her iphone. Her love of the trail and determination to forge onward through cold, famine and even the most severe bouts of dysentery inspired not only her friends, but her nurses, to embark on the grueling journey to Oregon.
When she wasn’t on the trail she was watching Law and Order: SVU. She tuned in every week, religiously, like a grandma watching her soaps. On more than one occasion Michelle passed down safety tips learned from Olivia Benson because in Michelle’s words “people be getting snatched”. Michelle was a dedicated Baltimore Ravens fan. She loved watching them try their best every season.
Some traits that Michelle was particularly known for was her kindness, generosity and humor. Another trait that can’t go without mentioning is her sarcasm, most of which she saved for her mother-in-law.
Michelle is survived by her loving wife, Amanda Rizzi and their 4-year-old daughter, Emma. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Amy Vega and her fiance (Theron) of Palmyra. Her brother-in-law, Jerry Groft, of Spring Grove. Her brother-in-law, Andrew Groft, of York. Her grandparents-in-law, Jeff and Kathy Forry, of Spring Grove. Her cousin, David Cardis, of Florida. Her cousin, Brian Cardis, of Monogahela. She is also survived by countless friends that have become family during her lifetime, as well as her godchildren Eli and Ash Witcher. “In my culture, death is not the end, it’s more of a stepping off point.” - Black Panther
