Born on February 14, 1937, near Candor, NY, Frederick led a life marked by unwavering faith and dedication to his wife of 63 years, his family and community. He served his country with honor as an Army SP5, stationed in Germany from 1956 to 1959. Upon returning home, Frederick embarked on a lifelong journey of spiritual devotion and service to the Lord, spanning over five decades. After discovering his calling, Frederick pursued theological education at Practical Bible Training College and Hyles Anderson College. His passion for spreading the Gospel led him to pastor churches in Cortland, NY, Groton, VT, and Catatonk, NY, where he touched countless lives with his compassion and wisdom. He also shared his faith as a pulpit supply in numerous area churches, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. Frederick's legacy of faith and service is carried on by his loving wife, Joyce Middaugh, their children Mike (Grace), Lori Bell, Tim (April), grandchildren Danielle (Chase) Gottman, Ryan (Hanna) Bell, Aaron Bell, Jacob Middaugh, Nathan Middaugh, and great grandsons, Lucian Dominic, Victor Gottman and Christopher Bell. He is preceded in death by his daughter Trudy, sister Louise, and his mother, Ethel, as well as many other cherished friends and family members. Outside of his ministry, Frederick found joy in simple pleasures—tending to his yard, solving crossword puzzles, and basking in the warmth of summer while savoring a tall glass of Coca-Cola. Yet, his greatest joy came from studying Scripture and guiding his congregations with compassion and grace. He cherished the title of "Poor Country Preacher", embodying humility and dedication in his service to others. Frederick's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit lives on through the countless lives he touched and the profound legacy of faith and love he leaves behind. His memory will forever be cherished, and his commitment to his Lord and Savior will continue to inspire generations to come. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of West Danby, 2219 W. Danby Road, Spencer, NY. Private burial will take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY. Condolences may be made to Mr. Middaugh's family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
