Barbara was a former pet groomer and was know around her community for the excellent work that she did grooming people’s animals. She enjoyed spending time in her yards growing flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed cooking and baking different recipes she found from her vast collection of cookbooks. She, along with her husband, Eldridge, were long time members of the Union Grove Baptist Church. It was there that she enjoyed serving in the church nursery as long as her health permitted. Her greatest love and joys in life were that of her family and spending time with them.

On April 16, 1965 she was united in marriage to Rodney Proctor, with whom she enjoyed 56 years of marriage with. Carolyn has enjoyed a lifetime of blessings as she has touched many lives. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, and awesome grandmother and great grandmother. Family was everything to her, and she lived her life centered around it.
Carolyn also enjoyed the blessings of being a missionary wife. Along with her husband, they took the Gospel to the Sioux Indians in South Dakota and to the Hispanics in El Salvatoria, Mexico. They saw lives come to know the Lord as their personal saviour. Carolyn’s memory will continue to linger in our hearts and lives forever as we cherish the memories and examples she left. “Weeping may endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning.” – Psalm 30:5

Obituary Preview: RAY EARL CALDWELL, age 90, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 with his family by his side.  Ray was born in Trafford, AL on December 24,1931 to the late George Earl & Eunice (Brakefield) Caldwell.
Ray served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and was a combat veteran in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.  He received a Purple Heart and was awarded the Bronze Star.  Ray worked in several occupations, ultimately retiring from the Miller Brewing Company.  He was well known for his hard work ethic, his compassion towards others and being able to fix or build anything.  His good nature was warmly welcomed by everyone he met.  He devoted his life to loving concern for his family.  Grandchildren Courtney, Caroline, Alexandra, Ian and Brendan thank him for his loving guidance throughout their lives.
Preceded in death by his wife, Judith, former wife, Grace, sister, Lucille, brother-in-laws Austin & John, and sister-in-law, Norma.
Ray is survived by his children, Cheryl (Barrett) Kain of New Orleans, LA; Derrick (Arlene) Caldwell of Pittsburg, PA; Randal (Rose) Caldwell of Marcy, NY; stepchildren, Belinda (Andy) Gamms, John Pekoff, and Scott Avery all of the greater Syracuse area, NY. Ray leaves behind sisters, Velma Anderson, Emogene Kelley and brother (& best friend) Charlie Caldwell all of Montgomery, AL.  He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Syracuse VA and Iroquois Nursing Facility for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
