Geraldline Lenora Garvin - July 22, 1922 - March 25, 2022

Obituary Preview: Geraldline Lenora (Harmon) Garvin, born July 22, 1922, in Atlanta, GA, peacefully passed March 25, 2022, at Lutheran Life Villages South.
Mrs. Garvin was a life-long educator, Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Sunday School teacher, volunteer and family matriarch.
Graduating in 1938 from Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Geraldline graduated from Clark College in 1942 with a Bachelor’s in Home Economics with a concentration in Culinary Arts.
At the age of 20, she accepted a position in a rural school in Eatonton, GA.  In 1944, she moved to New York and studied Dietetics at Columbia University.  After moving to Fort Wayne with her spouse and degree in hand, her first position was as a Nursery School teacher with the Red Feather Agency.  In 1962, she was employed as an elementary teacher at Hanna School.  When she became a Reading Specialist upon completing her Master’s in Education at St. Francis in 1965, she taught several years at Weisser Park Jr. High, and in 1971, she was assigned to Miami Middle School from whence she retired as the Reading Dept. Chair in 1991.  Yet, she continued to educate, substituting for Fort Wayne Community Schools until 2007.
Mrs. Garvin held offices in Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and also served as a representative for the Indiana Reading Association and Fort Wayne Education’s Negotiation Team.
Aside from this, Geraldline immensely enjoyed church and concerts (Classical, Religious and Jazz) as well as Broadway musicals and plays, even attending some in Paris, France. However, she was passionate about planting flowers, reading, writing poetry and preparing Sunday dinner, which sometimes included frog legs and beef tongue (ick).
Geraldline was preceded in death by her, mother Annie Mae Harmon; father, Alfred Harmon; and sister, Ernestine Harmon Moore.
Mrs. Geraldline Garvin is survived by her children:  Peggy Eileen (Garvin) Turner, Springfield, OH; Madeline Marcelia Garvin, Fort Wayne, IN; Mahlon (Divina) Garvin, Cottleville, Missouri; grandchildren: Matthew (Marie) Turner, II, Fisherville, Kentucky; Eileen Turner, Cincinnati, OH; great-grandchildren: Lenora, William and Colina Turner and other friends and relatives.
Funeral Service will be 11 am Friday, April 1, 2002 at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church 300 E. Wayne St. Fort Wayne, IN  46802 with Reverends Jason Morris and Denise Lapsley officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the service from 10 am - 11 am at the church.
Interment will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 in Covington Memorial Gardens with Committal Service conducted by Rev. Dr. Peggy Eileen G. Turner.
Preferred memorials are to scholarships in the name of Geraldline Lenora Harmon Garvin to Booker T. Washington High School, Atlanta, GA; St. Francis University Reading Clinic, Fort Wayne, IN, and Clark Atlanta University School of Education.

Pete graduated from Central High School in 1969 where he received a letter in cross country and wrestling.
Pete enlisted in the United States Army on November 7, 1969 where he made Sergeant (E5) and  received the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
Pete confessed Christ at an early age. Pete was a dedicated member at Victory Worship Center where he loved singing in the male chorus.
He worked at Slater Steel and International Harvester for many years.
Pete leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Bernard Gaines of Huntsville, Al and Timothy Gaines of Fisher, IN: three daughters,  Katrina Gaines, Tracy Page and Tekesha Bland of Fort Wayne, IN; sister, Fransetta Butler of Evansville, IN; loving companion, Glenda Black of Fort Wayne, IN. He also leaves a host of grand children, great-grand children, neices, nephews and cousins.

She had a natural gift of styling hair and later graduated in 1984 from Four Winds Beauty College earning a license of cosmetology. She worked at Shirley’s Beauty Salon for a short period and took a position at Cooper Tire in Auburn, IN of which she retired after 26 years.
Olivia leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children Robert (Tabitha) Ervin Jr., Elethia (Jerrell) Davenport, Raquel Ervin, Deitrick Ervin Sr, Ronnetta Kennedy-Jones, Jon Jerron Kennedy, Kennell Kennedy, and Brittney Kennedy. Their fathers Robert S. Ervin Sr. and Ronald Kennedy. Her siblings Mamie Lucille (Johnny) Woods, James “B” Paige, Walter Leon Paige, Edward Paige, and Evelyn Paige. 23 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. Obituary Preview: Lillian was born on the 2nd day of August 1931, in Bay Spring, Mississippi to Katherine and Willie Lacey. Lillian was the oldest of six children.
After the family moved to Chicago in 1946, Lillian attended Wendall Phillips High School graduating in 1948.
In 1951 she moved to Fort Wayne, IN, there she enrolled into cosmetology beauty school. After Lillian graduated from cosmetology school she was quickly hired as a hairdresser and manicurist for Wolf & Dessauer Department  Store, in Fort Wayne where she met and fell in love with William E. Warfield better known as "Bill”. Lillian and Bill where married and together they raised Bill's son Jackie Warfield.
1970 Lillian and Bill built their dream home on Fox Lake in Angola, IN. Lillian loved the serenity and privacy of living at the lake.
Lillian loved fishing, hunting, traveling, and dancing. Lillian was a professional manicurist, active sport hunter of deer  and elk on her weekends and vacations. She loved to spend time with family and friends, playing card games, pool, and trivia board games.
On the 17th day of March 2022, Lillian made her life transition to her eternal home. Upon arrival to her pearly white gates, awaits her loving husband, William E. Warfield, mother and father, Kathrine and Willie Lacey, a stepson, Jackie Warfield and a sister, Sherell Lacey.
Lillian life legacy will be remembered by her loving siblings, Larry Lacey (Diane) of Detroit MI, Lafrances Ross (John) of Indianapolis IN, Karleute Rials of Burnham IL, Dayphine Mcfadden (Sean) of Burnham IL, bonus sons, Sean Chipps of Burnham IL and David Thompson of Fort Wayne IN. Lillian leaves 10 nieces and nephews that she reared as her own. Jesse James Sullivan was born to the late Willie and Mary Sullivan on July 5, 1939 in Uniontown, AL. He was the 10th of 16 children.
Jesse accepted Jesus at an early age and was a man of strong faith. He learned from his mother to always pray. He moved from Uniontown to Mobile, AL and later settled in Fort Wayne, IN in 1963.
Jesse was a foreman at Empire Fire Brick for 29 years, assisting a lot of family with their first job. He later retired from Allen County Motors in 1995.
Jesse never met a stranger and was very generous, the life of the party, always laughing and joking and doing his famous dance move “The Sullivan”.
Jesse leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 44 years Georgianna Smith Sullivan; 10 children, Joyce Sullivan of Fort Wayne, IN, Maurice Armstrong of Mobile, AL, Jesse Sullivan Jr. of Fort Wayne, IN, Sandra Robinson of Fort Wayne, IN, Peaches (Carlton) of Houston, TX, Darwin Sullivan of Fort Wayne, IN, Tesra (Roger) Starks of Indianapolis, IN, Jessica (Theo) of Fort Wayne, IN, Altrice Sullivan of Fort Wayne, IN, and Troy (Charisse) Smith of Fort Wayne, IN. Jesse leaves 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren who lovingly called him “ Poppy”.
Jesse also leaves behind three brothers, John L. Sullivan of Fort Wayne, IN, Grady Sullivan of Fort Wayne, IN, Robert (Texas) Sullivan of Buffalo, NY, and sisters, Rosie Starks of Fort Wayne, IN and Daisy Harris of Buffalo, NY; four sisters in law, June (James) Kelsaw, Victoria (Guy) Washington, Shirley Smith and Brenda Anderson, all of Fort Wayne, IN, two brothers in law, John Spiegner of Birmingham, AL and Lee “Bo” Smith of Fort Wayne, IN.
Jesse was preceded  in death by his mother and father Willie and Mary Sullivan; daughter, Nadine Sullivan, six brothers and four sisters.
Jesse’s pride and joy was his family and he instilled in all his “Jesse kids” the pride of the Sullivan name, in addition he leaves a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and other relatives and friends. Everyone was #1 to Jesse, but he was #1 to us!
Jesse will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens following his Celebration of Life Service.

Scott most recently worked for Traffic Control Specialists and was part of the LiUNA! Union Local 213, but his professional background spanned from working in banking, sales and retail.
Most notedly, Scott was a person full of dreams. He wasn't afraid to dream BIG and encouraged others to do the same as he mentored them. Scott loved the simple things in life; wonders that others took for granted like the cherry tree in his front yard in full bloom, landscaping on a sunny afternoon, great food and was known to throw down on the grill, catching 24 walleye on a fishing trip, a good glass of wine, vacationing to new places, and boy did he love horses and had dreams of being involved in that industry. Scott enjoyed the finer things in life like great restaurants, beautiful artwork and jewelry. He was also an avid sports fan, especially of football and his all time basketball favorite was Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls . His sense of humor was second to none and had such unique insights into the human condition. Scott also had a strong entrepreneurial spirit and wasn't afraid to try new things. He was also known for his superb communication and negotiation skills in business which were unparalleled.
Scott was sound spiritually and devoted much of his adult life to furthering his spiritual growth and understanding of Christ consciousness and the Kingdom.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother Veronica Gillespie; his brothers: Kurt, Mark, Trent, David and Stephen; his sisters: Pamela, Marla, Elizabeth, Denita and April; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss Scott.

Natalie found her joy as homemaker, parent, and planner; providing consistency in a household that moved throughout the United States and abroad, a spouse to a military serviceman. Natalie developed resilience through her multifaceted career working as a dutiful administrator in the fields of retail / food service, education, insurance, and lastly in the world of design + construction. Her lifelong service was her dedication to her faith and spirituality. Natalie dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and remained prayerful, and committed to a life of Christian Service.  She served as a joyful resource to many friends and family members; providing emotional refuge, spiritually relevant references, and helping to find light in many of our dark moments.
All who connected with Natalie knew her warm, welcoming and genuine personality, she was one who consistently reached out with family updates, recipes, and a general friendly hello.  Her travels and family relocations both early and late in life taught her to communicate often and she possessed a sharp and witty sense of humor that she shared with her children which also helped her to build lifelong relationships amongst a variety of friends around the nation.
Surviving Natalie are a host of family members that she cherished beyond words.  This  includes former spouse, Reginald “Reggie” D. Bowen and their children; daughter Kamilyn P. VanNoy; son, Aaron M. (Zaya) Bowen; grandchildren Dominique VanNoy, DeAngelo VanNoy, Quinn Puckett, and Zane Bowen. Her brother Mark (Vanessa) E. Lenear; Nieces and Nephews, Bernard J. Gaines, Katrina J. Gaines, Wesley M. Lenear, great niece and goddaughter BreAnna Gaines, and many other great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Merritt Lenear; mother Patricia E. Day; and sister Deborah E. Turner.
Nashville Visitation: Thursday, February 17, 2022, 12 pm -  6:00 pm at Terrell Broady Funeral Home-Nashville, Tennessee.

Larry was a loving father to his children and stepchildren: Ah’Ryous Sinclair, Alaijah Sinclair, Alando Childs, Alona Sinclair, Demetri Childs, Da’mon Hamilton, Katora McDonald, Kiesha McDonald, and Cornelius McDonald.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Herman W. Childs and mother, Doris W. Childs.
He is survived by his siblings: Karla Edwards, Timothy Bartels, Roberta Childs, Robert Childs, Doris Childs, Jack Bartels and Marvin Cottrell.
Services will be February 22, 2022 12:00 pm at Kingdom Door Christian Worship Center, 1004 E Pontiac St. Fort Wayne, IN 46806  with viewing starting at 11:00 am.

She was born on July 3rd, 1936 in Fort Wayne, IN to Benny & Gladys Lowe. She was the youngest of four children. She graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne, IN in 1954. Carolyn was a life long member of Turner Chapel AME Church. She worked at Lutheran Hosipital and later on as a Social Worker for Martin Luther King Monitessori School. She was also a caregiver for her parents in their later years. She was an excellent cook and some of her specialities were bullet bread, collard greens, lasagna, jambalaya, and pig feet (but they had to be pretty)!
She enjoyed traveling, bringing people together, making people feel welcomed, and basketball. Carolyn was loved by all. She never met a stranger. Not only was she beautiful on the outside, but her beauty was truly from within.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Benny Lowe, mother Gladys Lowe, and brother Calvin Lowe. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons Eric Scott McCarrol (Charita Jo Singleton)  and Tony Lance McCarrol (Terra Brantley), daughter Tiffani Lynn Kimbrough and four grandchildren Dion Kimbrough, Scott McCarrol, Eric McCarrol, and Tony McCarrol.
She was married to Ed McCarrol (deceased) and Thomas (TK) Kimbrough. She also leaves behind two older sisters Dorothy (Lowe) Newman, Betty (Lowe) Pickett, and one uncle Ivey Lowe and a host of other friends and family members too numerous to mention.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Roseanna Davidson; father, Thomas Preston; sisters, Connie Preston, Dorothy Myatt, and Jeraldean Shearer; and one brother, Howard (Ray) Preston.

Christina was a 1972 graduate of Northrop High School. She was also a former employee of Rea Magnet Wire, Allen County Voter Registration and Dr. Elton Amos MD’s office.  Christina was known by many, they called her Dee Dee, Christine, Chris, Mom, and Grandma. She was indeed the life of the party in many family functions, community events, and gatherings among friends.  Christina life was always caring for others, especially her husband Jessie and her nephew Kent. She would look forward to her weekly visit to the salon getting her hair doll up by her granddaughter Victoria. Christina daily conversations with her closest friends and family will be missed.  Christina had a generous heart and loved her family dearly, she was always lending a hand to help someone, if she didn’t have it, she would point you in the right direction. Many would say Christina had no problem speaking her peace, and no fear in telling you like it is. Her memories will live forever in the heart of those who knew her. Christina was a true, die hard Alabama fan, along with her husband Jessie. Her last Facebook post was “THAT’S HOW WE ROLL”, Ala! Although she hated the long drives she loved going to Alabama to visit with her in-laws. She promised the next time she traveled she was going by plane.  Christina was preceded in death her Father, Leonardo G. Mauricio, Mother Mary Mauricio, Grandmother Felipa Ramos, Grandfather Paul Ramos, Sister Mary Mauricio-Morris and Granddaughter Jazmyn Shyla Jade Thomas. Obituary Preview: Ellis Grayson, Sr. was born October 03, 1937, in Elaine, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Ammie (Shepard) and Roy Grayson, Sr. Ellis confessed Christ at an early age in Elaine, Arkansas. Later, on January 03, 1959, he united in holy matrimony to Mary (Thomas) Grayson. In the same year, they relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a better means of livelihood.
Ellis landed a job at the heart of the city, International Harvester. He worked here until the company closed its doors in 1983.  He continued his career at Superior Essex, as an Enamel Room Operator until he retired.
Ellis was an outstanding cook.  He enjoyed cooking for his family; lemon ice-box pies were one of his family's favorites.  He delighted in mowing yards, sitting out back near the pool, and watching football.  Ellis was an avid Detroit Lions fan.  He also treasured the time spent caring for his dogs.  He was a kind soul who devoted his life to taking care of his family.  Ellis received his gold wings and was inducted into Heavens Hall of Fame on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the age of 84.

Obituary Preview: Earnest Ware, age 76, was born on September 5, 1945 in Akron, Ohio to the late Peggy Curry and Fonnie Ware.  Earnest was adopted at the age of 5 by the late William and Luella Flagg and raised him as their own in Fort Wayne Indiana.
Earnest gained his wings on January 11, 2022 after a short battle with cancer, Earnest was surrounded by his family.
Earnest Ware attended Central High School where he graduated in 1962.
Earnest was united in holy matrimony to Mary Ware in 1964.
Earnest spent his life working construction building different hospital and schools around the city.  He spent most of his career at Parkview Hospital which he loved to talk about. Earnest retired in 1993 but was still an active member of Local Union #213
Earnest loved fixing and work on things around the house after retiring from construction, Earnest loved to cook and spend time with his family.  He also enjoyed fishing and walking around the park with his friends, Earnest loved going over to his brother-in-law Curtis Hurse house where they would sit and talk for hours. He also loved to plant flowers and trees.
Surviving are his loving and devoted daughter, Angelia (Steven) Grundy; two devoted sons, Earnest Ware Jr. and William (Yolette) Ware; sisters, Linda Curry of Akron Ohio, Earlene Ellis of Columbus Ohio; brother, Tony Curry of Akron Ohio, nine granddaughters, five grandsons and 17 great grands.
Earnest was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Ware; mothers, Peggy Curry and Luella Flagg; fathers, Fonnie Ware and William Flagg; a special aunt, Mary Woodson; sister, Beverly brothers, JW and Jessie.
A special thanks to one of his closest friends, Tommie Black, his first friend when arriving in Fort Wayne, Indiana and for helping the family through this difficult time.
