Nealy Mace Moore - January 30, 1939 - April 24, 2024

Departed: 04/24/2024 (Muleshoe)
Obituary Preview: Nealy Mace Moore, age 85, of Lubbock, Texas, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas. Known for her bright red hair, infectious laugh, and unshakable faith, she was a light to all who knew her.
Nealy was born in Clovis, New Mexico, on January 30, 1939, and was raised in Lazbuddie, Texas. Growing up, “Red” was surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nealy had a passion for music that followed her throughout her life. She was especially known for her incredible talent playing the piano.
It was in high school when Nealy met Wayne Moore, of Muleshoe, who would later become her husband.
She graduated from Lazbuddie High School in 1956, then attended Eastern New Mexico University for a year, where she didn’t miss a single dance.
Nealy and Wayne married on October 5, 1957, at Fort Riley in Manhattan, Kansas, where Wayne was stationed at the time. While Wayne served in Germany, Nealy moved to Muleshoe and worked at Bailey County Electric, and, according to Wayne, “drove the wheels off of their red Chevrolet Corvair.” When Wayne returned from Germany, they moved to Lazbuddie to set down roots and start their family.
They raised their three children, Candy, Steffan, and Trestia, in Lazbuddie, where they were active members of the community and schools. Nealy especially enjoyed being part of the congregation at First Baptist Church Lazbuddie, where she was the pianist and a soloist for many years. She also enjoyed playing on a ladies volleyball team. Nealy taught music and PE at the Lazbuddie schools for many years. She also started the first twirling group at Lazbuddie High School, the “Chrystalettes.”
Following Wayne’s death in 1991, Nealy moved to Lubbock. There, she stayed active working as a distributor for Herbalife, attending church, and following her grandchildren’s many school and sports activities.
Nealy had a special and meaningful relationship with each one of her grandchildren, and they all knew how loved they were by their “Mema.” They will always remember her knack for quoting scripture, singing hymns of the faith, playing fun tunes on the piano and accordion, and ensuring there was never a dull moment at her house. She was also known to lay hands on and pray for any grandchild who was sick, with an unashamed and bold faith that came with knowing her Almighty God. Nealy’s faith was the bedrock of her life, and she was an incredible example of a faithful servant of Jesus Christ who not only shared her faith, but lived it out to the fullest. She talked the talk and walked the walk, and there is no doubt now that she has heard the words, “well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Nealy is survived by her children Candy Nowlin and her husband Martin, of Shallowater, Steffan Moore and his wife Carolyn, of Breckenridge, and Trestia Elliott and her husband Bart, of Shallowater; grandchildren Garrett Nowlin, of Lubbock, Tyler Nowlin and his wife Anne Elise, of Dripping Springs, Jonathan Nowlin and his wife Caroline, of Dallas, Brooklyn Moore, of Lubbock, Jaxson Elliott, of Austin, Brecka Stanley and her husband Duncan, of Dallas, Ashten Stutler and her husband Logan, of Lubbock, Maci Patterson, of
