George F. Sturgeon - April 27, 1951 - April 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: Atwater, OH-George F. Sturgeon, 70, of Atwater, passed away peacefully early Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Mercy Health’s St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital surrounded by his loving family members.
George was born April 27, 1951 in Salem, Ohio, the son of Franklin and Mary (Cox) Sturgeon.  He was a 1969 graduate of Beaver Local High School.  Following graduation, he worked in several venues including Nease Chemical before finding his true calling as a nurse in the emergency room.  He graduated as a Registered Nurse from Kent State University and worked for 35 years at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.  Although he was a knowledgeable and caring nurse, he also saw the humorous side of life.
George had many interests. He enjoyed helping others with home projects, lifting weights, motorcycles and long-distance bicycling. However, his greatest passion since childhood was reading science fiction novels.
George leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dianne (Guimond) Sturgeon, whom he married June 3, 1977; his sons, Chris (Heather) Johnson of Alliance and Matt (fiancée, Kasey) Sturgeon of Canton; his daughters, Aprile (Brian) Cassidy of Davisville, West Virginia and Andrea (Mike) Benson-Harris of Randolph.  He also leaves grandchildren, Olivia, Hayle, Brennen, Jack, Hunter, and Veronica; and great grandchildren, Kyra, Emma, Aiden, Max, Reagan, and Hudson.  George is also survived by his sisters, Mary Sims of Yellow Springs, Ohio and Gwen (Frank) Francis of Salineville, Ohio, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his uncle, Walter (Trish) Sturgeon of East Palestine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Thomas Albert Sturgeon.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11am until 1pm, Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.  Private burial will follow at the Kemble Cemetery in Elkton.
The family requests that those in attendance please wear face masks.

Lula Ann and Bernard Ray Smith - Unknown - April 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lisbon- Lula Ann “LuAnn”, 80, and Bernard Ray Smith, 81, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
LuAnn was born September 7, 1941 in Tallmadge, Ohio, a daughter of the late Elba Ray “Everett” and Hattie Belle (Reed) Calaway. Bernard was born June 2, 1940 in Little Hocking, Ohio, a son of the late George W. and Mildred H. (Foutty) Smith.
They were united in marriage on March 26, 1959.  She was a homemaker and he was the founder and original owner of the Smith Oil Company, retiring in 1991 to Cudjoe Key, Florida.
In their younger years, they enjoyed travelling, taking many RV trips, and both were certified scuba divers. Bernard was also an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing and had his private pilots license.
Bernard also proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Navy, where he was the Captain of the Captain’s boat.
LuAnn and Bernard are survived and will be deeply missed by their daughter, Susan Smith Mullen of Lisbon; son, Randy (Coleen) Smith of Hookstown, Pa; and their granddaughter, Lana Rae Pollack of North Canton.
LuAnn is also survived by her brother, John Calaway of Marion, Ohio and Bernard is also survived by his sister, Mary Smith of Sarasota, Florida and his brother, Robert (Elsie) Smith of Lisbon; and well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to their parents, LuAnn was also preceded in death by her sister, Cathy Young, and by her brothers, Buck and Dutch Calaway and Bernard was also preceded in death by his brothers, William and Carl Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Wade Richards officiating.  Burial will follow at the Lisbon Cemetery.

James H. Cibula - October 15, 1959 - April 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: Leetonia-James H. ‘Jim” Cibula, 62, of Fairfield School Rd., passed away peacefully at 2:48am, Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Mercy Health’s St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Jim was born October 15, 1959 in Salem, a son of the late Dr. Peter Cibula and the late Helen L. (William) Cibula, and had lived his entire life in the area.
A 1977 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Jim worked as a heavy equipment operator for 38 years with various local mining companies.
In his free time, he enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and as a member of the NRA, Jim was a gun enthusiast.
Jim is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Lisa (Madison) Cibula, whom he married October 15, 1994; daughters, Nicole Elizabeth (Patrick) Weeks and Dena Lee (Greg) Brown; son, Kristopher James (Chelsea) Cibula; grandchildren, Timothy, Jackson, Logan, Peyton, Aaralyn, Daminica, Nicolette, Natasha, and Orion.  He is also survived by his sisters, Cheryl (Lee) Campf and Melissa (Scott) Ruldolph, brothers, Peter (Stephanie) Cibula, Jr. and Mark (Jantina) Cibula, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private service for Jim’s family will be held at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.

Joyce A. Ulbrich - December 22, 1947 - April 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lisbon-Joyce A. Ulbrich, 74, of State Route 45, passed away peacefully to go be with the Lord at 11:37am, Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Salem Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Ulbrich was born December 22, 1947 in Idamay, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Marshall and Evelyn (Brumage) Booth, and had lived in the Lisbon area since the late 1960’s.
She was baptized and formerly attended the Pinebluff Methodist Church. Joyce had retired in 2012 as a fabric and materials cutter for furniture manufacturer, Ortez Manufacturing Company in Salem.
Joyce will be dearly remembered for her love of knitting and crocheting, as she made many baby blankets for her family. Her gentle and giving nature was further displayed by her love of animals.
Her husband, Danny L. Ulbrich, whom she married June 8, 1973, preceded her in death December 12, 2013.
She is survived and will be missed by her sisters, Marian Arnett and Jeanette Smith; several nieces and nephews; her stepdaughter, Rebecca (Daniel) McMahon and her children, Michael, and Susan; her stepdaughter, Heidi (Jerry) Dattilio, and her children, Madison, and Chelsea; her stepson, Mark (Teresa) Ulbrich, and his children, Leanna, Megan and Brian; and 3 step great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Joyce was also preceded in death by her sister, Frances Ann Booth.

Obituary Preview: Lisbon-Dennis Dotson, 64, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully at 9:40pm, Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Community Hospice’s Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio following a brief illness.
Mr. Dotson was born April 11, 1957 in Lisbon, Ohio, a son of the late William E. Dotson and Fern E. (Fullum) Dotson Osterling.
Dennis was a graduate of Southern Local High School.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Dustin Dotson, two brothers, one sister and many friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father William E. Dotson, his son, Dennis Scott Dotson, and two brothers.
Following his wishes, no calling hours or services will be observed.  Private burial will take place in the Lisbon Cemetery at a later date.

Kathy L. Heddleston - September 05, 1958 - March 19, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lisbon-Kathy L. Heddleston, 63, of Lisbon, passed away at her home Saturday evening with her son, Denny and her beloved schnauzer, Reuben by her side.
Kathy was born September 5, 1958 in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late David A. and Marian L. (Dugan) Heddleston.
She grew up in the countryside of Campground Rd., moving to Glenmoor in her teens, and attended East Liverpool City Schools.
Kathy was a free spirit with a generous heart.  She loved to cook and entertain family and friends.  Her homemade noodles were a holiday favorite.
She is survived by her son, Denny (Jessica) Cornman; sister, Vickie (Joe) Corbisello; brothers, Charles (Lois) Gamble, Robert Gamble, and David Heddleston; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Dean Heddleston and by her sister, Linda Illig.
Following Kathy’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be observed at this time.  A celebration of her life will be held later this summer and will be announced via facebook.

Mary Ann McGuire - May 15, 1954 - March 18, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lisbon- Mary Ann McGuire, 67, died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, March 18, 2022.
Mary Ann was born May 15, 1954 in Salem; a daughter of the late John Charles and Margaret (Augustine) Ewing and had lived her entire life in the area.
A 1972 graduate of Southern Local High School, Mary Ann continued her education becoming an LPN, graduating from the Hannah Mullins School of Nursing and worked at the Salem Regional Medical Center for many years, retiring in May of 2021.  Following her retirement, she began working part-time last fall at Copeland Oaks Crandall Medical Center.
She was also a lifelong member of the New Lebanon United Presbyterian Church.
Mary Ann loved fitness and spent most of her free time on the Greenway Trail, biking and running.   She had also competed in several Marathons throughout the country and was also a Tri Athlete.  Mary Ann also enjoyed hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding and taking motorcycle trips with her husband, Tim.
Her kind, soft heart was fully displayed by her love of animals, not only her cats and dogs, but by feeding and watching the birds and deer on her property.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 22 years, Timothy A. “Tim” McGuire; her stepchildren, who she loved as her own, Alyssa McGuire and William (Samantha) McGuire both of Lisbon; her sister, Sally Jo (Michael) Moore of McDonald, PA; her brothers, Clem Ewing of Akron and Bill Ewing of Salem; her grandchildren, Chloe and Dally, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her brother, John C. Ewing, Jr.
The family will receive guests from 1pm to 3pm and from 5pm to 7pm, Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.  All other services will be private.  She will be laid to rest at the New Lebanon U.P. Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Wright was born January 2, 1944 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Oren and Eliza Elizabeth (Savage) Liber, and had lived in the area all of her life.
A 1962 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Betty was a homemaker.  She enjoyed gardening, and tending to her flowers, but most of all she loved to make crafts.  Betty was also a member of the Lisbon Eagles 2216.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband, James “Skip” Wright, whom she married December 29, 1998; daughters, Vanessa Johnson of Lisbon and Alice Simms of Salem; sons, Gary (Billie Jo) Simms, Jr. of Leetonia and Jeff (Lisa) Simms of Columbiana; brother, Tom (Wanda) Liber of Wasco, California; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one on the way; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her sister, Nesta Lee Jeffery; and by her brother, Oren Liber, Jr.

Tammy Ann Carreon - October 07, 1961 - March 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: Salem- Tammy Ann Carreon, 60, of South Union Ave., passed away unexpectedly at 5:48am, Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Salem Regional Medical Center.
Tammy was born October 7, 1961 in Salem and was a daughter of the late Gerald ‘Bud” and Joyce (Kotsch) Garrett.
After attending Beaver Local High School, Tammy went on to become a State Tested Nurses Aide and worked for the Salem Area Visiting Nurses Association.
A member of the Assembly of God Church, she loved to go fishing in her spare time, took great joy in making crafts, and enjoyed playing with her dogs, Chico Rodriguez and Thunder.
Always a kind, caring and giving person, Tammy’s final act of generosity was giving the gift of hope and renewed life through her selfless decision to be an organ and tissue donor.  Many lives will be touched through her final act of love.
Her husband, Victor Carreon, Jr., whom she married April 13, 2007, preceded her in death January 28, 2018.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Garrett.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sisters, April (Randy) Savors, Mary Garrett, and Billie Jo (Glenn Dennis) Higgins; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend and loving companion, Frank Matthews, Jr.

Ronald J. "Ronnie" Stanford - May 20, 1952 - March 06, 2022

Obituary Preview: Tempe, Arizona- Ronald Joseph “Ronnie” Stanford, 69, of Tempe, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022 after being hospitalized with a brief illness.
Mr. Stanford was born May 20, 1952 in Trenton, New Jersey, a son of Helen (Weis) Stanford-Stauffer and the late Donald Stanford.
A 1970 graduate of East Liverpool High School, Ronnie enlisted in the United States Navy.  After serving his country, Mr. Stanford worked for a time as an Oil Field worker.  He then joined his father and his brothers as a bricklayer, employed out of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #9 in Pittsburgh.  One of his last projects was the construction of Heinze Field, the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Following this final project, he moved to Arizona, where he could work year-round.
Ronnie is survived and will be dearly missed by his mother, Helen Stauffer of Wooster, OH; his brothers, Mark Stanford of Mesa, AZ and Michael Stanford of Beaver, PA; his stepbrother, Charles (Linda) Stauffer of North Lima, OH; his stepsister, Sandra (Gary) Smith of Atlanta, GA; and several cousins, who he loved very much.
A full military funeral was observed Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, where he was laid to rest.

Stephen P. Rodi - August 19, 1949 - March 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lisbon-Stephen P. Rodi, 72, of Pendleton Street, passed away at 8:36pm, Saturday, March 5, 2022 following a lengthy illness with his family by his side.
Mr. Rodi was born August 19, 1949 in Salem, a son of the late Nicholas J. and Marjorie J. (Meade) Rodi, and had lived in the Columbiana County area most of his life.
A 1967 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Steve served our country for 4 years as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and then continued to serve an additional 16 years as a member of the Ohio National Guard.
Steve worked for the Village of Columbiana for 30 years; served as the caretaker of the Lisbon Football field and stadium; had worked at the Lisbon Cemetery; and lastly worked on a survey crew for Edwin Browne and Associates of Lisbon.
Mr. Rodi was a member of St. George Catholic Church.  Steve loved the outdoors and enjoyed backpacking and camping.  He also loved driving his Miata and will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Beth (Tancer) Rodi, whom he married October 9, 1971; his son, Nick (Allie) Rodi of Salem; sister, Susan (Thomas) Himmelspach of Fort Myers, Florida; and his brother, Joseph (the late Diana) Rodi of San Diego, California.
In addition to his parents, Steve was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Rodi.

Norma Jean Smail - May 20, 1945 - February 28, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lisbon- Norma Jean Smail, 76, passed away quietly at 4:30am, Monday, February 28, 2022 at Salem North Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Smail was born May 20, 1945 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Russell E. and Helen (Fullum) Dotson, and was a life resident of the area.
Following high school, Norma worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Columbiana County Home and Fletcher’s Nursing Home for over 20 years.  She was also a foster parent for many years and had attended the Lisbon First United Methodist Church at one time.
Norma enjoyed crocheting and going fishing with her late husband.
Her husband, Donald Dewayne Smail, whom she married June 27, 1968, preceded her in death December 10, 2013.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Zellers of Lisbon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Norma was also preceded in death by her brothers, Terry Lee Dotson and George Edward Dotson; and by her sisters, Esther Mae Saling and Patty Sue Miller.
A time of remembrance and gathering of friends will take place at 11am, Friday, March 4, 2022 in the chapel at the Lisbon Cemetery.

Ms. Satterfield was born April 7, 1948 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Vernon “Bunker” Matthews and the late Mary (Perrino) Novak and had lived her entire life in the Lisbon area.
A 1967 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Linda worked for 16 years at the former Kaiser/National Refractories, retiring in 1999.
She was a member of the Lisbon Eagles Aerie #2216 and the Lisbon VFW Post #4111.
Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Christina Ann (Mark) Drotar of East Palestine and Dena Marie Haswell of Medina; her grandson, Cpl. Adam Haswell USMC; her sisters, Kim Blair-Campbell, Verna Jo (David) Jones, Tracey (Richard) Whitacre, and Kerry (Richard) Antram; her brother, Kim Matthews; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Linda was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Novak; grandparents, Carmen and Mary Perrino; and her uncle, Anthony Perrino.
Following her wishes, no calling hours of public services will be observed.  Private burial will take place in Lisbon Cemetery.

Elsie Marie Shive - December 11, 1928 - February 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lisbon-Elsie Shive, 93, of Pendleton Street, passed away peacefully at 2:29pm, Monday, February 14, 2022 at Salem Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.
Mrs. Shive was born December 11, 1928 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late William E. and Elva (Dickens) Reese.
A graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Elsie began working at the BMV in Lisbon, then at Western Auto, and lastly at Dave’s True Value hardware store in Lisbon, until she retired.
She was a faithful member of the Lisbon First Christian Church, where she was active in Christian Women’s Fellowship.  Elsie was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star; and served for over 40 years as a Democratic Precinct Committeewoman.
She will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and her love of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her husband, Raymond H. “Bud” Shive, whom she married June 29, 1948, preceded her in death January 28, 1989.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Pike and Betty Johnson, and by her brothers, John Reese and Wilbur Chapman.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Gregory A. Shive of Lisbon; sister, Annie Burrier of Salem; grandchildren, Stacy (Ian) McNally and Joseph (Amanda) Shive; great grandchildren, Liam and Landon McNally and Raegan and Hunter Shive; and many nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Leetonia- Sandra L. Bell, 81, of Longs Crossing Rd., passed away peacefully at 9:23pm, Friday, February 11, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Bell was born January 23, 1941 in Salem, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary I. (Jenkins) Carlisle.
Sandra was a faithful member of the Franklin Square United Methodist Church and had worked 23 years in housekeeping at the former Essex of Salem Nursing Home, retiring in 2003.
She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Sandra was also an avid bowler in her younger years.
Her husband, James A. “Jim” Bell, whom she married November 12, 1955, preceded her in death December 27, 2014.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Ann Carlisle and by her brother, David A. Carlisle.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Bonnie (Shan) Lancaster and Carol (Jim Bob) Clunen, both of Salem, and Beverly (JR) Fortune of Leetonia; her sons, Rick (Anna) Bell and Mike (Stefany) Bell, both of Leetonia; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Pastor John E. Fitch of her church officiating.  Burial will follow at the Lisbon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11am until noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pat was a former member and deacon of the Longs Run Presbyterian Church, where she also worked for 15 years as the church secretary.  She was a current member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Staley was a member of the former Ohio City Rebekah Lodge #782; Julia’s Circle of Longs Run Church; and she enjoyed crocheting. Pat also volunteered at the former HELP Center.
Her husband, Wilbur H. Staley, whom she married August 14, 1950, preceded her in death March 21, 2005.  Her son, Stephen A. Staley and her son-in-law, Lin Fobes also preceded her in death.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Jorja Fobes of New Castle, PA and Valerie (Jeff) Hochmann of Lisbon; grandchildren, Alicia Staley Greathouse, Melanie Staley Hughes, Cheryl Staley Wolfe, Aaron Hochmann; and 6 great grandchildren.

Roberta leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Richard Eric Parrish of Mississippi and Kevin (Sara) Parrish of Lisbon; brother, Albert “Bud” (Lori) Ash of Lisbon; and 7 grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Keith Parrish, and by her sisters, Cecelia Lee, Debra Lyons and Rita Jean Hughes

Mr. Coe was born November 22, 1943 in East Liverpool, Ohio, a son of the late Camden and Margaret (Chadwick) Coe and had been a life resident of the area.
A member of the Worldwide Church of God, he worked at Brunk’s RV in Salem for 10 years as a RV repairman, retiring in 2004 due to health issues.
An avid outdoorsman, David enjoyed hunting, camping, and travelling cross country in his RV.
Mr. Coe also was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam era.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Marilyn R. (Brand) Coe; daughter, Christine Lynn (Scott) Coe Metzgar of Lisbon; son, Shawn R. (Barb) Cusick of Lisbon; brother, Carl Coe of East Liverpool; grandchildren, Alex, Lexi, Taylor and Haille; and great grandson, Cason and a great granddaughter on the way.
In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Winn and his brother, Allen Coe.

Joseph J. Novak - June 17, 1944 - January 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lisbon-Joseph J. Novak, 77, of Adams Rd., passed away peacefully at 11:40am, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Mr. Novak was born June 17, 1944 in West Point, Ohio, a son of the late John and Lucretia (Hawkins) Novak and had lived most of his life in the Lisbon area.
A 1962 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Joe worked as a machinist and welder at NRM and finished a supervisor.  He also owned and operated Novak Septic Pumping Company for 22 years.
Mr. Novak was a member of St. Nikolai Orthodox Church in Louisville, Ohio.  He was also a member of the Italian American Club in Salem and the Leetonia Sportsman’s Club.  In his free time, he enjoyed travelling abroad, golfing, boating and waterskiing, working on his hobby farm and caring for his cows.  Joe was also a wonderful baker, making kolache, cookies, and anything sweet.
He is survived by his wife, Monica (Avram) Novak, whom he married April 24, 1997; children, Sheri (Edward) Brown of Deerfield, Tim (Anita) Novak of Lisbon, and Stephanie Novak of Lisbon; brothers, John (Cathy) Novak of Grand Junction, Colorado and Greg Novak of Alliance; grandchildren, Zackary, Brandon (Samantha), Isaac, Brooke, Colton, Nicholas, Isabella, and Danny; and great granddaughter, Satara; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Bill Gregory.
Private funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in the Chapel at the Columbiana Cemetery with Father James Barkett officiating.  Please wear facemasks to help keep everyone safe.

Her husband of 52 ½ years, Glendon Gene Bates, whom she married April 7, 1962, preceded her in death September 23, 2014.  She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings, John “Jack” Bevan, Dorothy Patterson, Gladys Cottrell, Edward Bevan and his twin sister, who passed as an infant, Constance Seppy, Dolores Jean Banfill, and James “Jimmy” Bevan.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Brenda (Ron) Bryarly of Lisbon; sons, John (Deborah) Bates of Williamstown, New Jersey and Brian J. Bates of Salem; grandchildren, Morgan Bates and Ryan Bates, both of Williamstown, New Jersey; step grandson, Daniel (Joellen) Moncilovich, also of Williamstown, NJ; and step great grandchildren, Cynthia and Danny, both of Williamstown, NJ; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bettis was born October 23, 1937 in East Liverpool, Ohio, a daughter of the late Woodrow W. and Elsie (Frye) Williams.
Following high school and business college Kay began working as a secretary at the Bettis, Yeagley and Coe Law Firm. She later worked at the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office for 9 years, and then worked as a court reporter for the Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas for 30 years, retiring in 1997.
Kay was a member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, the Lisbon Business and Professional Woman’s Association, Columbiana County Mental Health Association, former member of the West Point Lions Club, and numerous card clubs.  She also enjoyed playing Mahjong and any type of card or board game.  She and Kenny also loved to travel and she always enjoyed wintering in Clearwater, Florida.
Her husband of 59 years, Kenneth E. “Kenny” Bettis, whom she married September 15, 1962, recently preceded her in death on December 10, 2021.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Marsha (Jim) Landfried of Lisbon; her son, John (Gina) Bettis of Lisbon; sisters, Sue Shormann of Lisbon and Penny (Denny) Harrold of Columbiana;  grandchildren, Jeremiah (Alicia) Frantz, Anna (Justin) Madison, and Linda (Scott) Laughlin; and 11 great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Kay’s life will be held at 11am, Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, 111 East Chestnut Street, Lisbon, with John Smith officiating.  Private burial will take place at the Lisbon Cemetery.
The family will receive guests from 10am until the time of services Saturday at the church.
The family also requests that flowers and other remembrances please be omitted and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Elkrun Township Tourism Bureau, P.O. A homemaker, Annabelle was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bingo in her later years, and loved animals.  During her life, she owned many dogs and cats, had a few barnyard animals, and at one time had 9 ferrets that she dearly loved.  Ann was also a very talented sketch artist, as well as building many tables and cabinets for her family through her joy of wood working.  She could always make her sisters laugh, and loved sitting around the kitchen table talking and drinking coffee.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Richard Barnhouse of Salem; siblings, Edward (Dorothy) Sargent Sr. of Salem, Dorothy McCullough of Leetonia, Billy (Mary Anne) Sargent of Texas, and Christine (Neal) Scott of Manassas, Virginia; grandson, Brady Barnhouse of Salem; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many other friends and acquaintances.
In addition to her parents, Annabelle was also preceded in death by her daughter, Courtney Roseann Barnhouse and by her sister, Margaret Sprouse.
No visitation or funeral services will be observed at this time.  Private burial will take place at a later date.

A Christian by faith, Nancy loved to bowl, was an avid reader, and she enjoyed going shopping.
She is survived by her brothers, Bill (Joanne) Hough of Victoria, Texas and David (Vera) Hough of Cleveland, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Shirley Hough of Salem; and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her siblings, Loretta Mullin, Donald Hough, Evelyn Cunningham, Amziah Hough, and infant sister, Joyce Hough.

Robert L. "Bob" Cox - July 20, 1938 - December 31, 2021

Obituary Preview: Salem- Robert L. “Bob” Cox, 83, of Bentley Drive, formerly of Lisbon, passed away at 3:52am, Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Cox was born July 20, 1938 in Lisbon, a son of the late Harry Cox and the late Lucille (Estelle) Cox Morris and had lived all of his life in Lisbon until moving to Salem in 2018.
A 1957 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Bob began working at Islay’s where he enjoyed working with his co-worker, Lou Pezzano.  He then went to work as the manager of the Manos Theatre, where he met the love of his life, Marie, who sold tickets, candy and popcorn.  Bob also worked at Lisbon Spring and Wire and worked as a realtor for Walt Thomas Realty before assuming the position of assistant manager at Bye and Bye Hardware, where he worked 25 years, retiring in 2010.
Mr. Cox was also a faithful member of St. George Catholic Church.
Bob enjoyed going to flea markets and collecting green depression era glassware.  He was also a stain glass artist, designing many lamps and other items, which he enjoyed sharing as gifts.  Bob also loved the trips to Columbus, Cincinnati and Florida spending time with his family, the grandchildren, and especially the little great grandbabies.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marie J. (Welling) Cox, whom he married July 18, 1964; children, Cara (Joe) Cox of Panama City, Florida, Jerry (Krista) Cox of Lisbon, and Tracy (Mike) Cox of Lisbon; sister, Debbie (David) Bloor of Salem; brother, Dale (Carrie) Morris, Jr of Lisbon; grandchildren, Allie Cox, Ashley Hoopes, Joshua Cox, Jerran (Greg) Gauding, Samantha Caligaris, James (Payden) Cox, Kimberlee Wiggers and Jayce Frank; and great grandchildren, Aubrie Lee, Ella Cox, Lane Taylor, Ava Taylor, Claire Hoopes and Carly Hoopes; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his siblings, Janet Mancuso, Harry Cox, Jr., and Lloyd Williams.
