Rosemary E. Hansen - December 11, 1935 - April 27, 2022

Obituary Preview: Rosemary Elizabeth Hansen, 86 of Norwalk, passed on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, surrounded by family.
Born December 11, 1935, in New London, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ona Stober. Rosemary was a graduate of New London High School.
Rosemary was an excellent seamstress, using her skills working for Hills Interiors for 37 years. She also enjoyed gardening, her German Shepherds, and traveling vacations with her husband of 64 years, George R. Hansen. Her family has many happy memories of gathering together and sharing her delicious pies.
She was a member of many organizations, including band and academic boosters, the Model T Club Bumps and Grinds of North Ridgeville, the Huron County Humane Society, Bronson Conservation League, the New London Historical Society, and the Firelands Historical Society. Rosemary also served as a volunteer at the Fisher Titus Auxiliary gift shop for many years.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Steve) Hansen Graybill of Findlay and Major George E. Hansen of Williamsburg, Virginia; three grandchildren, Kristin (Wali) Graybill Baluch, Jessica (Kyle) Hansen Dixon, and Candace Hansen; six great-grandchildren, Zion Baluch, Zoe Dixon, Jennifer Dixon, Alivia Dixon, George Pahl and Harrison Hitchcock. She is also survived by her sister Sandra (Pat Sr.) Stober Ryan, her nephews Daniel Stober, Pat Jr. Ryan, Cliff Ryan, and other nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. (noon), with funeral services beginning at noon, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Burial will follow in Hester Cemetery, Bronson Township, Ohio.

Elfriede L. Beal - April 10, 1931 - April 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: Elfriede L. Beal, 91, of Pinellas Park, Florida and formerly of Ruggles, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at her home under Hospice care. Elfriede was born in Germany on April 10, 1931 and lived in Washington D.C., Summerset, PA, North Ridgeville and Ruggles before retiring to Florida.
Elfriede worked at the Ashland Times-Gazette for several years. She is survived by her son, Gene Beal, of Pinellas Park, Florida and grandsons, James and Michael Beal. Elfriede was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Beal and sons, Jeff and Ralph Beal.

Madlene Chavarria - April 21, 1943 - April 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: Madlene Chavarria, 78, a lifelong resident of New London, died Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Twilight Gardens in Norwalk. Born on April 21, 1943 in Floyd County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Eva (nee Spencer) Carroll.
Madlene worked as a nurse’s aide at the Elms Retirement Village in Wellington for over 20 years, retiring in 2006. She enjoyed playing BINGO and other games of chance and will be remembered for her love of donuts. More than anything, Madlene centered her life around her family and cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Patricia Finkel, of New London, Floyd Schaffer, of Ashland, Frank Schaffer, of Greenwich, and Robert Schaffer, of Norwalk; grandchildren, David Youngless Jr, of Columbus, Christopher Youngless, Jamie Schaffer, and Rhonda Jones, all of New London, Justin Schaffer, of Columbus, Devin Schaffer, Tylor Schaffer, Brittany Schaffer, Isaac Schaffer, all of Greenwich, and Philip Schaffer, of Marietta; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Verna Lambert, Phyllis Carroll, Spencer Carroll, all of Wellington, and Eddie Carroll, of Sullivan. Madlene was preceded in death by two husbands, Floyd Wesley Schaffer, in 1979, and Joe Chavarria, in 1990; daughter, Darla Jones; grandson, Tim Schaffer; and siblings, Patsy Hamilton, Wanda Brown, and Junior Carroll.

James Munson Douglass - June 13, 1928 - April 09, 2022

Obituary Preview: James Munson Douglass, 93, of New London, died Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Fisher Titus in Norwalk. Born on June 13, 1928 in Westfield, Massachusetts, James was a son of the late Herbert Edgar and Mildred Jennie (nee Munson) Douglass. James grew up and attended school in Massachusetts before joining the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country from 1945-1947 and was stationed in Okinawa, Guam and North China during his military service.
James worked as a tool and die maker at both Ford and General Motors in Sandusky. He also enjoyed farming and was a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment in Norwalk.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan (nee Pippin) Douglass; children, Karen Locke and Arlene Douglass, both of California, and Debbie Beams, of Nevada; several grandchildren and brothers, Melvyn Douglass, of Texas, and Richard Douglass, of California. James was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert and Jerry Douglass.

Obituary Preview: Rhoda A. Morr, 88, passed away on April 5, 2022, at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain, Ohio.  She was born on September 24, 1933, in Lorain to the late Lyman and Ida (nee Jordan) Green and was a Lorain High School graduate.
Rhoda, a true servant of the Lord, embodied a caring, kind, and giving heart and spirit.  Professionally, she began her career in data entry and worked her way up to a computer programmer systems analyst.  She was a longtime member of the Ruggles Church.
Survivors include her children, Kevin Morr, Stew Morr, Gary Bainbridge, Dana Morr, Randy Morr, David Morr, Jim Morr, Carrie Lemle, Laurie Hall and Barbara Yoders; sister, Gaynelle Schatz; brother, Jack Green; many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many other loving family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Morr; brother, Lyman Green and sister, Dade Gandee.

Jacob Matthew Barnes - November 07, 1994 - April 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Jacob Matthew Barnes, 27, of Norwalk, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Metro Hospital in Cleveland. Born on November 7, 1994 in Norwalk, he was the son of Deborah (nee Isner) and Jeffrey Barnes. Jacob was a lifelong Norwalk resident and a 2013 graduate of Western Reserve High School.
Following graduation, Jacob attended the University of Findlay where he received his bachelor’s degree in science. Jacob worked at Barnes Nursery while attending school and currently worked at Firelands Hospital for the past three years as a networking analyst I. Jacob loved his job and all his co-workers. He was a longtime member of 4-H and had recently started attending The Chapel in Norwalk. In his spare time, Jacob enjoyed everything computer related, including computer gaming, building gaming computers, and 3D models. He will be truly missed by all who knew and love him, especially to his niece and nephew who knew him as Uncle Jake Jake. Jacob was our gentle giant and his heart was as big as his stature. He had an infectious laugh and always had a smile on his face. He was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. In a final act of compassion, Jacob was an organ donor. Jacob touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.
Left to treasure his memory are his parents, Jeffrey and Deborah Barnes; sister, Jessica (Alec) Romick; nephew, Korben; niece, Cambria; aunts and uncles, Mike Isner, Jeff Isner, Steven and Karen Wargo, Eddie and Nancy Barnes, and Bob and Linda Sponaugle; and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; aunt, Janet Isner; cousins, Toby, and Derek Isner and Sarah Wargo.

Obituary Preview: Bradley Allen Hale, 56, of New London, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Friday evening, April 1, 2022, at his home after a brave battle against cancer.
Brad was born on September 11, 1965, in Oberlin, OH to Faye (Greene) and Paul Hale.
Brad graduated from Firelands High School and was a dedicated union laborer, retiring after 32 years. He was a skilled mechanic and loved anything with a motor. Brad shared a special bond with animals of all types. In his spare time, Brad enjoyed gardening, cutting wood, watching western movies, and camping with his family.
Brad is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, DeEtta (Myers) Hale, whom he married on November 17, 1990; 3 children, Benjamin (Sarah) Harrison of New London, Jonathan (Amanda) Harrison of New London, and Maelissa (Trevor) Hale-Robinson of Salt Lake City, Utah; 8 grandchildren, Wyatt, Madielyn, Oliver, Landon, Braylon, Tucker, Dexter, and Cooper; parents, Paul and Faye (Greene) Hale; and sister, Theresa (Mike Born) Reeves.
Brad was preceded in death by his brothers, Randy Hale, and Jeff Hale.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, from 11 am until the time of funeral services at 1 pm at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, OH 44851. Pastor Tommy Theisen will be presiding. Burial will follow in Grove Street Cemetery.

Patricia A. Stokes - January 09, 1949 - March 28, 2022

Obituary Preview: Pat A. Stokes, 73, of Ruggles, died Monday, March 28, 2022 at Saint Martin Assisted Living in Ashland.
On January 9, 1949, Pat was born in Spencer to Leo and Geneva (nee Patton) Giar. Pat was a homemaker who lovingly cared for her family. A member of Ruggles Church, Pat also cleaned the church for many years.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, and all other parts of farm life. Pat was always trying new recipes and different cookbooks. A favorite hobby of hers was crocheting. Pat could always be found working the donut trailer at Mapleton school events.
Pat is survived by her children, Scott (Alison) Tyler, of Indiana, Shane (Darcie) Stokes, of Ashland, Buck Stokes, of Columbus, Lonney (Amy) Stokes, of Columbus, Floyd (Erin) Stokes, of Ashland, and Jake Stokes, of Wakeman; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack A. Stokes in 1999; son, Jack Stokes; daughter, Delores Stokes; and siblings, Bill Mitchell, Hubert Mitchell, Sharon Yeager, James Giar, Lydon Giar and Judy Yeaples.

Glenn Alva Harper - August 01, 1939 - March 11, 2022

Obituary Preview: Glenn Alva Harper, 82, of Nova, Ohio, died at home on March 11, 2022.  He was born on August 1, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Glenn N. and Kathryn J. (Haber) Harper.
Glenn was a sharp dressed man who loved fast cars, fishing, draft beer, scotch, and any time he was able to spend with family and friends.  He was always up for a party, and the celebrations and pig roasts held at his home were legendary.  Glenn enjoyed cutting his grass, and caring for his farm, and never met a television that he didn’t like.  He seldom hid his disdain for liberals, and was relentlessly steadfast and faithful to God, his wife, and family in general.
Glenn served his country as part of the United States Army.  He was stationed in Germany and enjoyed driving armored personnel carriers.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #313 in Sullivan and had achieved the 33rd Degree and served as Worshipful Master.  He retired from Lake Erie Electric where he was an electrical estimator for many years.
Survivors include his children, Beth (Jay) Shisler of Wooster, OH, Glenn L. (Holly) Harper of Columbus, OH, Julie Harper of New London, OH, and Katie (Jerry) Cox of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Annie (Braden Cox) Harper, Austin and Riley Harper, Megan Harper, Coen “Coenski” Cox, Kylie “Baby” Cox, and Danny and Davey Shisler; brother, Robert “Brother Bob” (Nellie) Harper of North Ridgeville, OH; nieces and nephews, Bobby (Diane) Harper, Scott (Lisa) Harper, and Lynn (Dan) Wise.  He is also survived by many cousins, several great nieces and great nephews, and Darrell Lubinsky whom he loved as a son.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Karen Harper, brother, John Harper, and nephew, Christopher Harper. Friends and family are invited to a private celebration of Glenn’s life to be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022, beginning at 11 a.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Obituary Preview: Marlene Timbs, 80, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022. A daughter of Frank and Della (nee Cole) Bailey, Marlene grew up in Wakeman and was a 1959 graduate of Western Reserve High School. In July of 1959, she married Neale, the love of her life, and together they raised a family.
She retired from Green Circle Growers and also worked in the cafeteria at Western Reserve Schools for many years. Marlene was a member of the Wakeman Congregational Church.
Marlene found great enjoyment in gardening and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed doing puzzles. A true lover of cats, Marlene always had time for her pets, especially Snuggles and Susie.
She is survived by her children, David (Sherry) Timbs, of Vermillion, and Vickie (Jack) Burgess, of Lincolnton, NC; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren with 2 more great grandchildren on the way; and brothers, Don (Sue) Bailey and Larry (Glenna) Bailey. In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Neale, in 2019; infant son, Mark Ralph; and sister, Rosie.

Obituary Preview: Judy Ann Wyckoff, 83, of New London, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022, at her home under Hospice care. Born in Piketon, OH on July 21, 1938, Judy was the daughter of John and Viola Brewster. She graduated from Piketon High School and Blackburn Business College in Portsmouth.
Judy worked at Goodyear Topic Energy Plant and Atomic Energy Plant in Piketon. Following the birth of her children, Judy devoted her time to being a loving mother and wife. She attended the Church of Christ. She greatly enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Tab (Shannon) Wyckoff, of New London, Todd (Vickie) Wyckoff, of Allen, TX and Scott (Lisa) Wyckoff, of DeLand, FL and 4 grandchildren, Casey, Corey, Cameron and Acadia. Judy is also survived by her sister, Helen Woolridge, and brother, Tom Brewster.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London from 4 p.m. until the time of the 6 p.m. service. Minister Tim Nowlin will officiate the funeral service. A graveside committal service will be held the following day, Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Mound Cemetery, in Piketon, Ohio. David Garth Lambright - October 16, 1929 - March 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: David "Garth" Lambright, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022 at Parkvue Nursing Home in Sandusky, Ohio.  Garth was born 10-16-29 to Phillip Julius Lambright and Gussie Dell (Saylor) Lambright in Tiffin, Ohio.  He graduated from Old Fort High School in the Class of 1947 where he participated in the state level competition for pole vault.  He served in the U.S. Navy, from 1950 as Storekeeper and left in 1954 as Petty Officer.  He served aboard the USS Knapp, a destroyer, during the Korean Conflict.  He saw action along the Korean shore and was part of a small landing party which rescued a group of US Marines pinned down by enemy troops.  He was also blessed to be able to travel all around the world as the ship stopped at numerous ports.
Garth worked 10 years for Star and Mills Bakeries in Detroit,  MI and Monroeville, OH as a salesman and supervisor.  During his time on the road, he rescued a woman from a burning car, saving her life at great peril to his own.  He was a volunteer fireman throughout his time in Detroit.
Garth worked 25 years for Prudential Insurance Company as a representative and estate planner in the Norwalk, New London and Wakeman areas.
Garth graduated from American College as a Certified Life Underwriter, the first person in his family to graduate from college.  He taught 8 years for A.D. Banker to prepare students to pass their state board of insurance license.
Garth was married to Ruth May (Wilkinson) Lambright December 4th, 1954.  They lived happily in Detroit, Norwalk and Clarksfield.  After her death in 1991, he married Celine (Crouch) Lambright in October, 1995.  They lived happily in Sandusky and Clarksfield until her death in 2001.
Garth had been a member of St Peter Lutheran Church, Norwalk, having served on church council and taught adult Sunday School.  Later, he joined Clarksfield United Methodist Church, where he served for a time as lay leader, taught in the Logos program, and helped count donations, did the church's banking, and volunteered in many other capacities.
Garth was a Clarksfield Township Trustee for a number of years.  He served as head trustee during the 1978 Blizzard and worked alongside the National Guard to save people during that disaster.  He was a long time poll worker in Clarksfield Township and Republican Area Committeeman for a term.  He was a member of the New London Band Parents, along with his wife, Ruth, for many years and served as Co-President with her in 1975 and 1976.  He and his first wife were foster parents through Huron County for several years and provided a home for many children in their time of need.  He was an Assistant Girl Scout Brownie leader for 2 years before men were permitted to be leaders.
Garth loved animals of all kinds, especially his 3 dachshunds and 2 cats who preceeded him in death.  He loved watching and feeding the wild birds and squirrels and taking care of his 5 acres.  He was a scratch golfer until his play was ended by a knee injury.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was renowned for telling amusing stories and jokes.
Garth was preceeded in death by his parents; both of his wives;  one sister, Marjorie (Lambright) Nye, North Olmsted, Ohio;  2 brothers, John (Jack) Lambright, Tiffin, and Phillip (Tom) Lambright, Fremont.  He is survived by his daughter, Jody (Gary) Eckler, Castalia;  his grandson, Phillip Eckler, Castalia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Karen Stewart, his housekeeper, and Dale Stewart, for all the help given to him by them and the members of their family.  They also want to thank Dr. Darrin Bunting, Dr. Richard Keller, and the wonderful caregivers at Parkvue Community for all the great care they provided and treating him as one of the family.

Obituary Preview: Linda C. Cawrse, 52, of Galion, Ohio, died on March 4, 2022, at Avita Hospital in Galion.  She was born on December 27, 1969, in Willard, Ohio to the late George R. and L. Barbara (Powles) Cawrse.  Linda was a 1989 New London High School graduate.
A true animal lover, Linda especially liked cats.  She was a Huron County 4-H Alumni and often participated in the Huron County Fair.  While in high school, she participated in the marching and concert bands.  Linda enjoyed bowling and dart ball leagues and loved her family, and cherished time with her nieces and nephews.
Linda most recently worked for Cedar Point as a linen attendant, but everywhere she had worked everyone always appreciated her hard work ethic.
Survivors include her sisters, Beth (Lyle) Ebinger of Sandusky, Ohio and Elaine (Kevin) Conger of North Fairfield, Ohio; brother, David (Kim) Cawrse of New London, Ohio; 4 nieces, 4 nephews and 2 great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Cawrse and grandparents, Herman and Louise (Chapin) Powles and Morris and Lydia (Smith) Cawrse. Ronnie was a 1961 graduate of New London High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was a dedicated employee at Tenneco for 32 years. Ronnie was a trustee and lifelong member of the Second Baptist Church, member of the American Legion, and a member of the VFW; all in New London. In his spare time, Ronnie enjoyed playing poker and card games of all kinds, training and caring for the horses of Glenn and Nelly Maynard and driving cars. Ronnie loved his money and was well known for his little black book, where he kept a record of anyone who owed him money. His greatest joy of all was his family, especially enjoying food and fellowship with them.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Lois Poole; daughter, Connie (Jay) Evans of New London; son, Jeffery Evans III of Crestline; 4 grandchildren, special granddaughter, Makiyla, Myriah, Jamil, and Alijah; baby sister, Janice Rembert of Holt, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie is preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Grantham and Connie Hawkins, and brother, Rodney Poole.

Joan grew up and spent most of her life in the Ruggles-Troy area and was a 1956 graduate of Ruggles-Troy High School.
Joan was employed at Philway, Hess and Clark, and Dr. Donald G. Ward Chiropractic. She was a long time member of the Nankin Community Church where she enjoyed volunteering and served as the financial secretary for 26 years. Joan was also a member of OGS Ashland chapter, the Clear Creek Genealogical Society, and the Ashland Senior Citizen Center, where she helped with the newsletter and taking money at their swiss steak suppers. She also volunteered as a 4-H leader for a number of years. Joan was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, making doilies and snowflakes for numerous people. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, tending her flowers and making arrangements for church.
Survivors include her daughters Jennifer McKinley and Virginia McKinley, both of Ashland; granddaughter, Emily (Kyle) Grimm, also of Ashland; brother, William (Linda) Clouser; sister-in-law, Marlene McKinley Newlon; brother-in-law, Perry McKinley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Clayton McKinley, brother, Charles; brother-in-laws, Kenneth McKinley and Gene Robinson; and sisters-in-laws, Elaine Clouser, Christine McKinley and Ruth McKinley Robinson.

In 1951, Charles came to New London and has been a resident since.  He was a 1956 graduate of Green Springs High School.  Charles retired after 30 years with the Ford Motor Company of Lorain and Avon Lake.  He was a faithful servant of God, a member of the Norwalk Church of Christ, and he preached in New London, Fitchville and Norwalk.
Charles cherished and loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  On July 15, 1958 he married Doris Goble, together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.  Charles enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Doris Mead; their children, Charles (Sue) Mead Jr., and James (Tami) Mead; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, JoAnn (Phillip) Stiltner, Sylvia Watts, Evelyn Estep, Kenny (Sharon) Meade.

In her free time she enjoyed watching western movies and could sing all the theme songs. Connie also enjoyed traveling to casinos with her husband, and planting and tending her flowers. She will be remembered for living by the principle “when you’ve done all you can do, all you can do is stand”.
Connie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Cooper Hawkins; daughter, Suma Mullins, son, Bubba Randleman, one other daughter and two sons; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings Janice Poole, and Ronnie Poole; and dear friends, Sue, Donna, Paula, Charlotte, Mary, Lorraine, Inez, Cassie, the Michaels, and Miss Betty. She was preceded in death by her son Jemall Hawkins, and sister, Gerry Grantham.
