Franklin C. Laforga - July 08, 1978 - May 22, 2020

Departed: 05/22/2020 (Elk Grove)
Obituary Preview: What can I say about my Uncle Boy aka TheFrankchise, Franktastic...
Everyone that met him could instantly witness his infectious laughter and constant joyous attitude. I honestly don’t know why we were originally told to call him Uncle Boy, but I always assumed that it was because he had the spirit and energy of a young boy, and he acted like it too. I don’t even think I knew his real name was “Frank” until I was almost 10 years old. As an uncle, he was the funniest, most joyous and generous man.
Our Uncle Boy was the type of man to give a person the shirt off of his back if they needed it, and he would’ve been happy about it too. If you’ve had the pleasure of knowing him, you’d have probably realized that at some point.
Franklin Laforga Jr. returned to our Lord in the evening of May 22, 2020, at the age of 41 years old. He was a family man, whose biggest priority and greatest love was his two kids, Adaya Rubi and Franky III.
His favorite pass time was playing basketball which he experienced one last time before going to his eternal home.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his big brother, Anjolin; Sister, Jocelyn; His two kids, Adaya Rubi and Franky, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who loved Frank very much. Forever in our hearts and never forgotten. As Uncle Boy would say, “Who’s the greatest of all time!” TheFRANKchise!

Mary Elizabeth Chapman - May 24, 1925 - May 09, 2020

Departed: 05/09/2020 (Elk Grove)
Obituary Preview: Surrounded by three of her children, Mary Elizabeth Chapman passed away peacefully in Elk Grove, CA on Saturday, May 9, 2020. She is survived by her six children: Terry Chapman of Sacramento, CA (Paula Spencer); Peggy Huth of Arnold, CA (Jim Huth); Sharon Hughes of Beaverton, OR; Marvel Nuss of Talent, OR (Merlin Nuss); Cindy Souza of Elk Grove, CA (John Souza); and Mariann Andronico of Crockett, CA (Ron Andronico); 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Garnet Kempton of Concord, CA. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Orvel Chapman, and siblings Dorothy Byerrum, Charles McAdams, and Willis McAdams.
Mary was born in Ashburn, Missouri on May 24, 1925. While she lived in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, she was raised in Tacoma, Washington. She and her family eventually moved to Richmond, California. While working at Richmond Hospital, Mary met the love of her life, Orvel Chapman; they started their family and settled in Pinole, California. Raising a relatively large family, Mary found the time to attend classes at Contra Costa Community College where she discovered a passion for interior design which then led to a career in retail at Emporium Capwells selling carpeting, rugs, and furniture. She was enthusiastic about her career until joining Orvel in retirement.
As a retired couple, Mary and Orvel were very active in the church and attended Community Alliance Church in Richmond, California. They also loved their daily walks, playing golf, board games, road trips in their earlier years (the east coast was a favorite of Mary’s) and enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean. Family members were witness to their passionate love, which modeled a strong foundation for enduring, loving, and everlasting relationships.
Mary was a member of the Red Hat Society in Pinole. She loved birdwatching and feeding a variety of birds (and squirrels) from her front and backyard feeders. And the good Lord knows, she was rarely without the daily newspaper and/or a deck of cards.
Mary spent her last days at The Commons Assisted Living Community in Elk Grove, California. Family visited often and the staff took great care of her. However, she loved and missed her house in Pinole - so much so, that up until her last days, she would constantly ask her family members about her sweet house.
Mary was a God-fearing woman, so it is no surprise that later in life, she 1) was heavily involved in a bible study group, 2) she would often pray with and for her caregivers, and 3) one caregiver often referred to her as “Mary Chaplain”.
Mary’s life was full of love – both caring for and loving others, but also being loved and cared for by others. She and her family were truly blessed by her simple being. Her family will miss her spirit, but it is guaranteed that her love will continue to live in all….and it brings comfort in knowing that she is with Jesus and dancing in heaven with Orvel.

My husband, Mario, passed away at home on May 8, 2020 at the age of 73. He battled with Parkinson disease and congested heart failure.
He had a quadruple bypass in 2010. Most recently his kidney’s failed him.
Mario and I were married for 50 years and he is leaving behind 5 adult children, Bob, Gene, Melinda, Steve and Mario Wendell. He also has 13 Grand kids and 7 great Grand kids.
Mario proudly served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969 and was awarded many honors.
Once out of the Army he attended Jr. College and received an AA in Police science and was as planning to join Palo Alto Police Dept. when they found out he was Diabetic, had hardening of artery. That was a no no back then.
Mario worked for PG&E for 31 years, from 1978 to 2009 when he retired. He really enjoyed working with the men at PG&E, he all ways came home with some crazy joke or two that he heard from one of the guys.
Mario loved fishing and camping, he enjoyed fishing in the PG&E tournaments, and loved going to Comanche and Clear Lake for bass; he also fished a lot on the Delta.
Mario went to a few breakfast gatherings with the PG&E co-workers until his Parkinson starting to take over, he was a very proud man and it bothered him to be seen that way.
The later part of 2019 Mario enjoyed going to Red Hawk casino to try his hand at gambling. That stopped in January when he fell and broke his hip, it was all downhill from there.
Most recently his favorite song was "Where have all the flowers gone", by the Kingston Trio. It had great meaning to him.
I loved him very much. My heart is broken.

What is the purpose of an obituary?

The primary purpose of an obituary is to notify others of a person's death and provide information about their life, accomplishments, and surviving family members. It also serves as a way to share memories, pay tribute, and celebrate the person's life.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family members or close relatives of the deceased write the obituary. However, it can also be written by a funeral home, a friend, or even the deceased themselves before their passing (known as a self-written obituary).

What information should be included in an obituary?

A standard obituary usually includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include information about the funeral or memorial service.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words. Longer obituaries may be more suitable for online platforms or memorial websites.

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or multiple photos with the obituary. This can help personalize the tribute and make it more engaging for readers.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and guidelines. They may require you to fill out a form or email the obituary text and any accompanying photos.

Can I write my own obituary?
