Louis William "Louie" Grams - April 05, 1945 - April 02, 2024

Departed: 04/02/2024 (Eagan)
Obituary Preview: Devoted follower of Christ, husband, father, grandfather and beloved servant-leader, teacher, musician, artist, architect, and naturalist.
Louis Grams was born to Louis (Pat) and Loni Grams in Minneapolis, MN on April 5, 1945. He attended Christ the King Catholic grade school where his mother was a much-loved teacher. He then attended De LaSalle High School in Minneapolis (class of 1963), where as a key member of the school's drama program he served as an acting lead, set designer and co-producer for plays and musicals including Our Town, Finnigan’s Rainbow, and the first off-Broadway production of Bye Bye Birdie.
After graduation, Louie felt called to join the Christian Brothers novitiate at St Mary’s College in Winona, MN. This is where he found his calling to build Christian community, a call which would define the rest of his life. After two years with the Christian Brothers, (which included some time spent teaching in Wisconsin), he returned to the Twin Cities and while completing two more years of college at St Thomas, St Catherine’s, and the University of Minnesota, began working in 1966 for the St. Paul Catholic Youth Center (CYC) where he put on retreats and faith formation courses and ran the CYC Boys Camp at Big Sandy Lake in northern Minnesota.
During this time, Louie met Nancy Unger (St. Paul) and the two were married at St. Columba Church on September 10, 1971.
In 1973, Louie, Nancy and other leaders at the CYC were introduced to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, and with others ignited by this fire, co-founded Community of the Promise, based at the CYC. During this time, in addition to serving as a leader and musician, Louie was heavily involved with the redesign of the CYC’s downtown St. Paul facilities to accommodate the rapid growth of this new community. 1973 was also the year Louie and Nancy began living what would be 30 years of Christian household life, with well over 100 men, women and even families sharing life with them in their home. In 1977, Louie was at the center of Community of the Promise’s decision to join with Servants of the Light Christian community in Minneapolis, forming Servants of the Lord. Louie continued to serve as a leader and teacher in this new community and was instrumental in Servants of the Lord becoming part of the People of Praise community based in South Bend, IN in 1983. Also in 1983, along with Bud Rose and John Mooney, Louie founded Christians in Commerce (now WorkLight) an international organization dedicated to bringing the love of Christ into the workplace.
From 1985-1996, Louie served as the leader of the Servant branch of the People of Praise. During this time, he played a key role in establishing Trinity School at River Ridge, the creation of the POP’s constitution and foundational documents, and representing CIC and the Charismatic Renewal at the Vatican in Rome. In 1997, after a life-threatening illness from which he was miraculously healed only days from death, he was called to visit all the branches of People of Praise (US, Canada, and Caribbean) to host revival and healing meetings, during which many experienced miraculous healings. In 2000 Louie and Nancy were called to lead the new Colorado Springs branch of the People of Praise, where they remained until 2010 when, for health reasons, Louie (and Nancy) returned to Minnesota.
Louie was a concert-level pianist, organist, guitar player and prolific composer. As an artist he worked in the mediums of stained glass, painting, sculpture, photography and scale models. As a naturalist, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved God’s creation, particularly the Canadian Rockies, the National Parks, and the north shore of Lake Superior. He loved hiking, running, snowshoeing, and backcountry travel. He was an avid gardener, bird-watcher, hobby geologist and had an extensive knowledge of the natural world. As an architect, Louie designed multiple homes, buildings, and interiors and had a lifelong interest and extensive knowledge of engineering marvels of all types; from trains, ships and aircraft, to bridges, dams and skyscrapers. He also spent many years honing his carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills on multiple renovation and construction projects. He loved to travel, making it to 49 of 50 US states, the majority of the Canadian provinces, the Caribbean, Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
Beginning with injuries sustained in a 1968 car accident, and encompassing more than 60 surgeries, two terminal illnesses, diabetes, thousands of kidney stones, extreme allergies to foods and medications, Louie endured over 55 years of nearly constant physical pain, hanging on the Cross with Christ and offering up all of it for the Christian community and unity in the body of Christ.
Louis is survived by his wife Nancy, sons and daughters Jon, Matt, Andy (Ruthie) Elizabeth and Mary, and grandchildren Lauryn, Ben, and Ava.

Richard Walter William Cliff, Jr. - March 07, 1932 - March 11, 2024

Departed: 03/11/2024 (Eagan)
Obituary Preview: Age 92 of Rosemount, MN
Passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2024. Richard Walter William Cliff Jr. On March 7, 1932, our Heavenly Father blessed Richard and Louisa (Sachs) Cliff with the gift of a son in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. He became a child of God through the water and the word of Holy Baptism on March 13, 1932 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Rich Valley. Richard publicly confessed the Christian Faith through the Rite of Confirmation on March 30, 1947 at Trinity Lone Oak Lutheran Church in Eagan, MN. His confirmation verse was John 6:68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
Richard was the youngest child of the Cliff family and learned very quickly the value of working hard. He was his father’s right hand after his father lost his hand in a corn picker. Richard learned at a young age to be a gardener like his parents growing fruits and vegetables and learned the value of a dollar when he and his mother took those fruits and vegetables to market. He was a farmer raising pigs, milking cows, raising beef cattle, raising chickens and growing crops.
Even though he only went to school through 8th grade, over time he learned the skills of a builder, an engineer, a mechanic, a plumber, an electrician, and a loader operator. Richard also served his lord and was a devoted trustee at TLO. Everyone knew if it was broken or needed fixing they would call Rich or stop over at his house as he could figure out a way to make it work. Richard enjoyed hunting with his friends and son-in laws over the years. He hunted fox, deer, raccoon, pheasant, moose and had a trip of a lifetime elk hunting out west. He was an active member of the West End Gun Club. Fishing was another love of Richard’s from bullheads to lake trout and everything in between. In a boat or on the ice you could see him grinning ear to ear, even when the “BIG ONE” broke the line and got away.
Richards’s greatest love was Dixie who he married on October 22, 1955. Richard and Dixie enjoyed 68 years of marriage. During which they were blessed with 3 daughters; Michelle (Robert) Strobel of Plato, MN; Nancy (Jeff) Kolb of Rosemount, MN and Tamara (Doug) Hamblin of Savage, MN. Richard and Dixie were blessed with six grandchildren: Kyle (Leah) Strobel, Kevin (Heather) Strobel, Ashely (Levi) Novakovich, Aaron Kolb, Shelby Hamblin and Alayna Hamblin. They were also blessed with seven great grandchildren: Henley, Jackson, Noah, Kaden, Spencer, Zephaniah & Eloise.
Richard “retired” from farming, well not really, as the land he once grew crops on he rented to Hmong families who grew fruits, vegetables and flowers and sold their goods at the farmers market bringing his life full circle. Richard loved his Lord, his wife and his family and he was a Good Neighbor and Friend to all who knew him. Richard is survived by his wife, Dixie, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Louisa Cliff, infant brother Arthur Cliff, sisters Alma Gibbs and Esther Renner.

Bruce Ralph Voigt - December 05, 1956 - March 04, 2024

Departed: 03/04/2024 (Eagan)
Obituary Preview: Bruce was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather who made an impression on many people around him. He was also a devoted friend, proven through several lifelong close friendships that even went back as far as kindergarten. He had a big smile and laugh and an even bigger heart. He was always making sure Ginny and his kids were well taken care of before worrying about himself. Bruce was also devoted to God and his church family, regularly stepping up to serve whenever there was a need. His service included participating as a member of the board of elders, assisting with the distribution of communion during services and as an usher.
His love for his family was apparent through his commitment to make holiday gatherings and family reunions a priority. It was at these gatherings that he made sure to talk to everyone there, truly engaging in meaningful conversations and curiosity about what was going on in his loved ones’ lives. He also enjoyed spending time with his family just for the fun of it; family game days; long brunches after church complete with his homemade buttermilk pancakes; fall drives; bonfires in the yard; grilling the best chicken while playing cribbage, sipping on a beer and snacking on pretzels; and of course, playing his guitar. He especially loved it when Ginny would sing harmony. He thought of himself as a “campfire guitar player” simply playing so his family would circle around him to sing along. Other pastimes he loved with family included fishing and hunting that was commonly referred to as “deer camp” and later morphed into “beer camp”.
He was always hardworking, and while he supported his family through a variety of employment positions over time, no job gave him greater joy than driving and maintaining his dump truck for Mendota Hauling. He also loved spending time in his workshop, doing a multitude of projects and taking meticulous care of his many tools and gadgets. He could always think of more efficient ways to do his work and he had a plan for every piece of recycled material that made it his way. Finding a purpose for even the smallest bolt or scrap of wood was a specialty of his. He particularly enjoyed working on projects with his grandkids, like fixing small engines, making birdhouses, model cars, and refreshing old tool boxes or wagons.
Bruce had an exceptional sense of humor. He loved reading comic strips in the newspaper and would often clip them out and either hang them up in his shop or send them to the people that the comic made him think of. He would sometimes get this look on his face as he started to tell a “serious” story or anecdote, and we all just knew there was a punchline coming. He often used sarcasm when joking around, even until the very end.
Bruce R. Voigt, born in Glencoe, MN on December 5, 1956, was called to his heavenly home on March 4, 2024 at the age of 67 in Mendota Heights, MN, while surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Ginny; children, Stacy (Rob) Hermann, Becky (Mike) Shaw, Angie (Michael) Lavery, and Brad; parents, Ralph and Donna; sisters, Kathy (Ed) Langenfeld and Lori (John) Nagorski; grandchildren, Cole, Hailey, Claire, Wes, Maeve, and Sully; and many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will take place 4–8 p.m., Friday, March 8th at Klecatsky and Sons Funeral Home, 1580 Century Point in Eagan and 9–11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th at Heritage Lutheran Church, 13401 Johnny Cake Ridge Road in Apple Valley. Services Saturday 11:00 a.m. at church and luncheon to follow the service.

Philip Theodore Legendre - October 02, 1940 - March 01, 2024

Departed: 03/01/2024 (Eagan)
Obituary Preview: Philip Theodore Legendre, 83, of Eagan, MN passed away at home on March 1, 2024.
Philip was a true renaissance man. You could ask him how to fix something and he would figure it out - even before the internet. He enjoyed many hobbies over the years - woodworking, sailing, photography, cooking and baking. Though, Philip’s greatest joy and accomplishment was his family.
Philip was born and raised in New Athens, IL. Philip’s birth in 1940 was a blessing to his parents. His mother, Hulda, adored ‘her boy’ and was fortunate to spend much time with her son and his family. Of his childhood, Philip would recall being taught by the ‘strict’ nuns at St. Agatha, riding his bike around town and helping his parents in their garden.
Philip graduated with an accounting degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He then moved to Minneapolis to attend law school at the University of Minnesota, graduating with a law degree in 1967. Philip enjoyed his time at school. After law school, Philip accepted a position as a legal editor at West Publishing (currently Thomson Reuters) where he was a devoted employee of over 39 years.
Philip never thought he would get married or have a family but that all changed when he met Pauline Prondzinski. Philip and Pauline were married on July 14th, 1972, and lived in West St. Paul and Eagan, MN. During their 51-year marriage, they welcomed and raised three wonderful children (and numerous cats!) Philip and Pauline were truly devoted to each other. Philip was truly rich in family. During their life together, he and Pauline traveled locally, nationally and internationally with various family and friends. Philip was a generous man, always willing to lend a hand. During his sailing years he liked to take his family for a sailboat ride on White Bear Lake. He was an experienced woodworker and would craft jewelry boxes, futons, bookcases or help others with house projects. After retirement, Philip enjoyed cooking and baking for his beautiful bride and his family. He especially loved baking birthday cakes and cookies for and with his grandchildren. He enjoyed researching and trying out new recipes. There were many family gatherings filled with laughter. Though Philip was introverted by nature he never shied from sharing a beer or a good ‘mooning’ with the relatives!
Philip is survived by wife, Pauline, his three children, Emily (Dan) Bates, Claire Legendre-Sholl, Nicholas (Tiffany) Legendre and seven grandchildren - Kiley, Addison, Philip, Sylvi, Cora, Ramona and Felix. There are also many nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine "Larry" and Hulda Legendre, and his son-in-law Dan Sholl.
Philip was a kind, smart and thoughtful man who loved his family.
He will be missed very much.
Services will be held at St. Peter’s Church, 1405 Sibley Memorial Highway, Mendota, MN on Friday, March 22 – in the historic church. Visitation will be from 10-11 am, funeral service at 11 am followed by internment at St. Peter’s cemetery and then a luncheon.

Obituary Preview: Annette Edna Alfonso was born February 17th, 1939 to Harry and Margarete Tourville of St. Paul, Minnesota. She was the youngest of three girls. Annette was introduced to the Love of her life, the handsome Junior Quarterback, Dominic “Buddy” by her sister, Donna right at the beginning of High School. Their romance, marriage, and life together spanned well over sixty years. It was obvious that Buddy and Annette cherished each other despite all the twists and turns life had to offer.
Her next greatest love was their two kids: Doc & Anna. Annette kept busy between Hockey, Baseball, and soccer with Doc; plus swimming, softball, and 4-H with Anna. Although she had a tendency to be late, Annette managed life, worked full time, made amazing meals daily, and kept up an immaculate home. The coffee pot was always on, and many visitors were treated to a variety of delicious desserts. Annette has always been quiet, patient and resilient. Her toughest fight was battling cancer that had metastasized, followed by chemotherapy and many surgeries. Throughout all of that, Annette’s Catholic Faith never wavered. She was very devote and involved in her faith. Marching for life, Prayer Chains, Praying the Rosary, and attending all regular and Holy Day Masses. She worked hard to grow a love of God in everyone she met.
Annette was welcomed into her Eternal Home in Heaven by her beloved Husband, her Parents, her sister Donna, and many other relatives. She’s survived by her two kids Doc (Nancy) and Anna (Carey). Three Grandchildren: Casey, Nic, and Joe. Her sister Rosie and Sister in Law Angela (Dominic’s Sister). Along with many Nieces and Nephews from both sides of the Family. Marilyn Fremont Hansen - December 10, 1940 - February 05, 2024

Departed: 02/05/2024 (Eagan)
Obituary Preview: Marilyn Lee Fremont Hansen (12/10/1940–2/5/2024) was born to Everett Thomas and Martha (Westring) Fremont in Waterloo, Iowa.
She graduated from Waterloo East High School and went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College (now known as the University of Northern Iowa). There, she met Jon Edward Hansen, and they were united in marriage on February 4, 1960 in Waterloo, Iowa. Rumor has it they met when she was a dancer in a production of “Kiss Me Kate” and he was in the orchestra pit . . . undoubtedly looking up her dress.
Marilyn loved all English classes while attending college, particularly English Literature. After graduating from college, she worked as a high school educator, particularly in the subject she loved.
She once shared that her one regret as a teacher was the day John F. Kennedy died. It was announced over the intercom, and she wished she had asked her students to get out their composition books and just start writing . . . thoughts, feelings, how this would impact them and our country. This was not for a grade. She would never read them. They were for her students to take with them moving forward as they became adults. She truly felt this was an opportunity lost.
She ultimately relocated to Dickinson, North Dakota, where Jon took his first university job. There, she was a substitute teacher and was a dog mom to Charlie and Lucy . . . yes, she named them after the Peanuts characters.
Jon and Marilyn moved back to the Cedar Valley in the late 1960s and adopted their daughter, Inger Christine Hansen (now Elliott). Marilyn was rather dismayed when they arrived at the adoption agency and she was handed a baby girl, dressed only in a diaper, and was given a 3 x 5 instruction card. Luckily, she had brought a number of blankets, and she received instructions! She wished she had received a second instruction card for the teen years, but it did not exist.
From that point on, she was a homemaker, with occasional jobs that piqued her interests, not only for what she did, but the people with whom she worked. Her favorite was at Maggie’s Youth Shop in downtown Cedar Falls, but let’s be honest–it was for the employee discount.
She also loved to play tennis, meet with friends to play bridge, and was an active member in AAUW and TTT. As for the bridge, it morphed into lunch with her friends. I know she missed those get-togethers, particularly after she and Jon made a more permanent move to Minnesota after Jon’s retirement.
The things that made her the happiest in Minnesota were her grandchildren, (Jon) Maxwell and Emerson Corona. She was often doing crafts with them at the cabin and always made sugar cookies at Christmastime for them to decorate. She also attended many, many football, basketball and lacrosse games, watching her grandchildren do the things they loved the most.
Unfortunately, it became obvious that she started suffering from memory problems, and Alzheimer’s chose the course of the rest of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Inger Hansen Elliott; son-in-law, Jason Elliott, both of Eagan, Minnesota; grandson, Max Corona of Boulder, Colorado; granddaughter, Emerson Corona of Eagan, Minnesota; and her brother- and sister-in-law, Darrell and Ann Fremont of Des Moines.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jon, her parents, Everett and Martha (Westring) Fremont; her father- and mother-in-law, T. Merlin and Susan Hansen; and a brother, Gary Fremont.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home located at 615 Main Street, Cedar Falls, IA 50613. Afterward, please join us for food, drinks, and the joyful sharing of memories just down the street at The Other Place, 209 Main Street. We would love to see you and spend some quality time together.

Departed: 02/04/2024 (Eagan)
Obituary Preview: Age 70 of Eagan, MN
Passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 4, 2024.
Preceded in death by daughter, Brienne Heroux; father, Jerald Streit; sister, Stephanie Streit.
Survived by loving husband of 49 years, James “JR” Mueller; daughter, Anya (Sean) Eastling; son, Andy (Sheila) Heroux; grandchildren, Miranda (Josh) Bowron, McKenna Hetland, Faylin Hetland, Leland Heroux, and Sarah Hanson; mother, Lieselotte Streit; 5 siblings; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She would attend all their activities, from concerts, plays, and sports. She was their loudest cheerleader. She loved her family fiercely and made sure everyone knew it. She was a second mom to all her children’s closest friends. She made everyone feel as though they were included and family to her. A true mama bear to all.
Mary was kind, gentle, and energetic. She would make everyone laugh, with her charming and witty personality. She loved to sing show tunes, two-step with her husband, and entertain all those around her.
Mary enjoyed fishing in the boat beside her closest friends and family. One of the family's fondest memories are of her storytelling about the largest fish she had caught that was posted at the local bait store at the cabin. She enjoyed sitting up at the lake, listening to nature and enjoying the scenery.
Mary’s last years were a struggle with her health. Her family is at peace knowing that she has joined her daughter, Brienne, and basking in the glory of The Lord. Her family would like to thank all that have been supporting and praying for Mary during her difficult times.
