Obituary Preview: Raymond “Ray” Ragogna, 87, of Mark passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Manor Court Liberty Village, Peru.
The family will have a private Mass of Christian Burial.  Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Granville with full military honors.

Ray was born on June 3, 1934 in Mark to Victor and Margaret (Fervier) Ragogna.  He married Mary Ann (Nevicosi) on July 14, 1956 in Dalzell.
Ray was drafted to the Chicago White Sox right out of high school and had a great love of baseball his entire life.
Ray served in the United States Army.  He worked at Electrical Utilities Company in LaSalle and also worked on the pickle line at LTV Steel in Hennepin until his retirement.
Ray was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Ragogna of Mark; one son, Mark (Stacy) Ragogna of Colorado; two daughters, Vicki (Gene) Gensini of McNabb and Tina (Randi) Naumann of Oglesby, one brother, Donald Ragogna of Athens, Georgia; five grandchildren, Victor (Jenna) Gensini, Maria (Tony) Miller, Doug, Gina and Taylor Naumann; four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Evan Miller and Antonio and Giovanni Gensini.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson, Angelo Gensini.

Obituary Preview: Jesus “Jesse” M. Ramirez, 61, of Granville passed away on Saturday April 16, 2022 at his home.
Visitation services will be Thursday April 28 from 3-5pm at Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.  Cremation rites have been accorded.
Jesse was born on July 10, 1960 in Texas to Jose Espinoza and Refugia (Munuz) Ramirez.
He graduated from Lincoln Tech and was an inventory controller at Wal-Mart.
His passions in life were fishing, hunting, and cooking. It was family first with him. He never missed a family vacation, Birthday or Holiday gathering. He never met a stranger. If he had met you even just one time, the next time he treated you like you were old friends. He was special like that. He touched many people’s lives with his contagious smile and laugh.
Survivors include five nephews, J.P., Michael, Jesse, Robert, and Abraham; three nieces, Lisa, Becky, and Vivian; one brother John (Lydia) Ramirez of Spring Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Amalia.

Private Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hennepin.  Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Granville with full military honors.
Private Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hennepin.

John was born on December 6, 1927 in Florid to Barney and Mary (Vacca) Bima.  He married Joan Edwards on July 19, 1952.
John graduated from Hopkins School.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and received many medals.  John was a self employed farmer and has farmed his whole life.
John was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Granville American Legion, VFW and was also Honor’s Flight Participant.
Survivors include, one son, Jack (Vicki) Bima of McNabb; three daughters, Marianne (Skip) Novak of Peru, Cindy (John) Mennie of Mark and Kathy (Jerry) Mekley of Hennepin; one sister, Kathryn Waldschmidt; 10 grandchildren, Christie (Dan) O’Niel, Nick (Maleaha) Novak, John A. “Butchie” Mennie, Jimmy Mennie, Jason Mennie, Jacob (Lindsay) Mennie, Mike Mekley, Jerad (Brittany) Mekley, Jaclyn (Jeremy) Beck and Jena (David John) Mennie.  Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, Sydney Mennie, Mikey Mennie, Johnny Mennie, Jessa Jean Beck, Mia Mennie, Milly Mekley, Madalyn  Mekley, Mae Mekley and Molly Mekley and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; one brother, Barney Bima Jr. and one sister Emma Zielinski.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Beck, David John Mennie and Dan O’Neil.

Charlie W. Jones - January 30, 1943 - April 15, 2022

Obituary Preview: Charles W. Jones, 79, of Granville passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley.
Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.  Rev. Karen Karczewski will officiate.  Burial will be Granville Cemetery, Granville.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Charlie was born on January 30, 1943 in Spring Valley to William T. and June O. (Webster) Jones.  He married Sharon Lindsey on February 13, 1965 in McNabb.
Charlie retired in September 2001 from IDOT.
Charlie enjoyed his 1948 Ford red convertible that he has had since age 15, he restored the car and was previously a member of Blood Sweat & Gears car club.  Charlie loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Jones of Granville; one son, David Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Debbie (Scott) Kierski of Granville; four grandchildren, Allyssa (Shawn) Sabotta, Devin Kierski (fiancé Kaylee Ploch), Kayla Jones and Charlie Jones; six great-grandchildren, Collin, Colton, Jade, Brayden, Gabriel and Bailey; one brother, Kenneth Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roger Eggers and best friend, Jerry Young.
Pallbearers will be Scott Kierski, Devin Kierski, Shawn Sabotta, Collin Borio, Charlie Jones, Jim Keen and Gary Bruno.  Honorary pallbearers will be Colton Sabotta and Brayden Kierski.

Fred B. Luscher - July 10, 1947 - April 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Fred B. Luscher, 74, of Granville (formerly of Standard) passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at his residence.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:30 PM on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.  A time of sharing will start around 5:45 PM.  Burial will be in Gordon, Nebraska.
Fred was born on July 10, 1947 to Fred and Eleanor (Thompson) Luscher, to which three children were born.  Eleanor passed when Fred was seven.  His father later married Rita Roberts from Waterman, then four more children were born. He married Dina Strasburger on July 4, 1999 in Clinton, Nebraska.
He was a truck driver and worked for Paul Johnson, Yellow Trucking Company, and part time for Indian Creek Trucking.
Fred was a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship in Princeton, Standard Fire and Rescue, and Waterman Fire and Ambulance.  He was a loyal member of the Ladd Moose club and was part of the cooking crews.  He was involved with the Southern Knights Band for many years.  He enjoyed Blue Grass and Karaoke.  Fred played Santa for over 12 years at varying places, and loved being around the children.  He also sang with two different Christian groups, ‘Altar’d Lives’ and ‘Acceptable’ which sang in a number of places. His favorite place to sing was at the famous ‘Pacific Garden Mission’ in Chicago.
Survivors include his wife, Dina of Granville, her two sons, Joshua and Anthony Sterkel; Fred’s two daughters, Charlotte (Pat) Herrmann of Spring Valley, granddaughters, Rebecca, Ellen, Anna and Kerrigan and great-grandson, Archie; and daughter, Denise Hrovat of Dalzell (the late Jack Hrovat), granddaughter Jessica, and great grandchildren, Donald and Jolie; six sisters, Lorraine, Rena, Lana, Cosette, April, and Lisa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Eleanor Luscher, and step mother, Rita Luscher.

Donald was born November 21, 1930 in Metamora, IL the son of Isadore and Josephine (Kirchgessner) Schierer. He married Shirley Janusick on July 21, 1977, in Granville, IL. Don had served in the US Army and was a Korean War veteran. He had retired as a truck driver. Don was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, fishing, and hunting. Spending time with family was important to him and he loved his family deeply. Don could often be described as being a little ornery and sometimes silly. He and his wife also enjoyed being winter Texans, traveling, and just being outdoors.
Surviving is his wife: Shirley of Decatur, children: Shirley Maubach (John) of Henry, IL, Teresa Eiten (Tom) of Wellsburg, IA, Donald Schierer, Michael W. Schierer (Misty) of Buffalo City, WI, Carol Janusick (Jill) of Decatur, and Cheryl Marshall (Michael) of Beulah, ND; brothers: Herman Schierer of Peoria, IL, Wilber Schierer (Sandy) of Lacon, IL and Russell Schierer (Penny) of Toulon, IL; sisters: Clara Grebner of Washburn, IL and Darlene Atkins of Lacon, IL; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, son: Gregory Janusick and his grandson: Michael P. Schierer.

Charlene Ann Fassino - July 08, 1928 - March 15, 2022

Obituary Preview: Charlene Ann Fassino, 93, of Granville died on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, in Lacon, IL.
Charlene was born in Peru IL. on July 8, 1928, the youngest of five daughters to Charles Fitzgerald and Jane (Bower) Fitzgerald.
She is survived by one daughter, Judith Fassino Barlow of Lacon, IL.; and two sons, Jim (Sally) Fassino of Dunlap, IL., and David (Annie) Fassino of St Augusta, MN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Elliot Barlow, Roy Rada, Janelle Fassino Harre, Cheryl Fassino Bendtsen, Nicholas Fassino, Emily Fassino, and Marissa Fassino; and four great-grandchildren.
Charlene was preceded in death by her husband Peter Fassino Jr. and son Michael Fassino.
Charlene graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1946. She earned a teaching certificate from LPO College. After graduation, she taught in Standard, IL. Charlene then earned an education degree from ISU. She taught at the Granville grade school for many years.
Charlene loved to travel, read and was an avid bridge player for over 65 years. She was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society.
Memorial can be made to the Putnam County Senior Center and the Granville Branch of the Putnam County Library.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the funeral home.
He was born on August 25, 1939 in Spring Valley to James and Emily (Young) Petersen.  Larry married Ella Sandra Hansen on January 6, 1961.  She passed away in 1998.  He then married Ruth Ann Baldoni on March 10, 2001.
He graduated from Hennepin High School the class of 1957.  Larry farmed his whole life with Petersen's Brothers, Ayr Haven Dairy Farm.
He was a member of Hennepin United Methodist Church.  He loved baseball and was a pitcher for the Hennepin Merchants and Al Cioni Ford teams.
He loved to travel and he loved spending time with his family and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Petersen of Toluca; one son, Larry Allen (Vicki) Petersen of Bloomington and their children; Brooke (Vighnesh Iyler) Petersen of Chicago and Tyler Petersen of Urbana; one brother, Jim (Sharon) Petersen of Hennepin; step-children, Julie (Doug) Stubbs of Toluca, Mary Beth (Dennis) Nona of Dalzell and Stephen Baldoni of Chillicothe; step-grandchildren, Marissa Stubbs of Washburn, Connor Baldoni of Chillicothe, Logan Shertz of Lacon and Amelia Baldoni of Hannah City; one great-grandson, Brycen Cusac and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Sandra, one brother; John and step-son, Peter Baldoni.

Mary Ann was born on April 20, 1937 in Peru to Howard and Esther (Hartman) Fiedler.  She married Donald Mudge on September 21, 1956 at County Line Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She graduated from Tonica High School.  Mary Ann was a homemaker. She worked at LaSalle State Bank and Granville Nat’l Bank where she was a clerk until her retirement.
Mary Ann was a member of County Line Church, Fish & Fun where she was secretary for the club and served as assistant treasure for Marshall-Putnam County Fair.  She was also a 4-H leader.
She lived in Texas for 13 years and then moved back to Granville. She enjoyed playing cards with the girls.
Survivors include one son, Mark (Lori) Mudge of Granville; three daughters, Paula (Mark) Rinaldo of Granville, Lynette (Bruce) Weidner of Wyanet and Amy (Jim) Hartman of Granville; eight grandchildren, Megan Mudge, Erin Harp, Michael Weidner, Adam (Kaitlyn) Weidner, Taylor Hartman, Joseph “Max” (Ciara) Boggio, Marshall Rinaldo and Zachary Hartman; two great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Survivors include one daughter, Michelle (Jammi) Vannatta; one brother, Jerry Boekeloo; one sister, Darlene Abbott; two grandchildren, Anthony Hughes Jr. and Jameson Vannatta; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by; her parents; her son, Anthony Aurelio in 2014 and grandson, John Vannatta.

Ronald R. Migliorini - February 26, 1935 - February 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ronald “Papa” R. Migliorini, age 86, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on his farm in Minooka, IL, on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Ronald was born February 26, 1935 in Mark, IL, to Ameday and Margaret (Novak) Migliorini. He met his loving wife, Marlene Fiedler, in 1952 at Hopkins High School. They were married at Countyline Lutheran Church on November 5, 1955. That same year, he began his hardworking legacy at Alexander Lumber from Granville, IL, to Compton, IL, to Cuba, IL, and ending his 47 year career in Joliet, IL. During his time with Alexander he built new lumber yards in Cuba and Joliet. Also, he started serving our country in the Army National Guard in 1957. Throughout 66 years of marriage, Ron and Marlene devoted their lives to raising three children, followed by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In 1972, Ron and Marlene built the “Migo’s Meadows” family farm, where he enjoyed spending most of his time working outside, with his animals, planting trees, fishing in the pond and working around his garden with his children and grandchildren alongside him. Together, Ron and Marlene enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling and camping in their RV’s, boating, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and riding in horse shows. Ron was always playfully teasing and a prankster to the ones he loved. He was well known to never miss a grandchild’s school or sporting event. He taught his grandchildren how to hunt, fish, fix anything, and how to be a hard worker. Ron has impacted so many lives with his big heart, love for family, and faithfulness in the Lord. He will continue to be the greatest role model to his loved ones and dearly missed.
Ron was a member of the Plattville Lutheran Church, the Okeechobee Florida American Legion, the Grundy County Gun Club and Spring Valley Boat Club.  He was also a member of the Morris Moose Lodge where he received a 50 year membership award.  Ron was a volunteer firefighter for the Cuba Fire Department in Cuba, IL.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marlene and three children; Vikki (Greg) Swanson, Ricky (Dawn) Migliorini and Ronalee (Bill) VanAsdlen; grandchildren, Danielle Malone, Adam Migliorini, Desiree Swanson, Brett (Melissa) VanAsdlen, Brooke (Daniel) Cooper, Brock (fiancee Rylie) VanAsdlen, and Brad VanAsdlen: great-grandchildren, Maci and Parker Malone, Paisley Migliorini, Colton and Chase Cooper, Raelynn and Wrenley VanAsdlen and one on the way. Also surviving is one brother, Raymond (Barb) Migliorini of Plano; one sister, Margie Lenhausen of Utica and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Otto and Dorthoy Fiedler; his brother, William Migliorini; and brother-in-law Gary Lenhausen.
Pallbearers are his grandsons, Adam, Brett, Brock, Brad and Daniel.
Contributions may be made to the Plattville Lutheran Church, Lightways Joliet Hospice or donor’s choice.
Visitation for Ronald R. Migliorini will be held on Thursday, February 17th from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon with a church funeral service to follow at Plattville Lutheran Church, 5475 Bell Road, Minooka, IL 60447.  Pastor Brett Reedy will officiate.  Burial will be in Plattville Lutheran Cemetery.

Stanley Don Reed - April 21, 1931 - February 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Stanley Don Reed, aged 90, passed away Tuesday February 8th in Naples Florida.  Formerly of McNabb, Illinois, Mr. Reed was the Principal and a teacher at John Swaney Elementary School from 1970 - 1991. He was born in Grafton West Virginia and Served in the United States Air Force.  He married Verna Lee Carnahan in 1955.
Don was a dedicated gardener.  He never met a plant he wouldn’t try to grow in the greenhouse he built from scratch.  He even participated in a 1984 study on the effect of space on Tomato seeds, growing seeds that had been sent to space aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger.
Mr. Reed was an avid golfer and a member of the Edgewood Park Country Club Men’s league for years.  He had a close knit group of fellow golfers who all played into their 80’s and 90’s.  He and his wife Verna loved to travel and played golf in many states throughout the U.S., and even played a round in Australia during a 2011 trip.
Don was an active member of the McNabb United Methodist Church, and was a guest preacher for many years.  He would often sing Hymns as he worked in his greenhouse and garden.
He was the king of “Dad Jokes” and lived to make others laugh.  He could fix almost anything, claiming to be a master of “West Virginia Engineering”.  He loved to cook and was a connoisseur of cheap Chardonnay.
Don Reed is survived by his Son Stan (Kim) Reed of Naples Florida, Son David (Michelle) Reed of Utica Illinois, Daughter Diana Reed of Hollywood Florida and Sister Barbara Stevens of Grafton West Virginia.  He was the loving Grandfather of Vince, Miranda, Ashley, Cheryl, Jarrett and Abby.  He had four great grandchildren.  Don was preceded in death by his wife Verna, his parents and brother.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the McNabb Methodist Church, McNabb.  Rev. Mark Nowakowski will officiate.  Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, McNabb.   Arrangements being made by Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville Illinois.

Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.  Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate.  Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Spring Valley with full military honors.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jack was born on May 30, 1930 in Star, Mississippi to Guy N. and Marie (Berry) Morgan.  He married Gloria Matos Rodriquez on October 4, 1958 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
He served in the United States Navy on a naval aircraft carrier for 20 years and then served as a fireman for 20 more years on the navy base in Puerto Rico.
Jack was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Mohammed Shriners in Peoria and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hennepin.  Jack also participated in the “Veterans Honor Flight”.
Survivors include one son, Norman (Tammy) Morgan of Richland, Mississippi; one daughter, Sandra (Mike) Raffety of Hennepin; one brother, J.T. (Sue) Morgan of Florence, Mississippi; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloria on August 19, 2014; his sister, Inez and one daughter at birth, Shirley Ann Morgan.

Carl was born on October 4, 1919 in Magnolia to Albert and Mary (Smith) Carlson.  He married the love of his life, Helen M. Peterson on February 20, 1941 in Varna.
He served in the United States Army 89th infantry European Theater 1944-1946, Patton’s Army and was MP when he was discharged.
He was an agent for Standard Oil for 35 years until he retired.  After retirement, he and Helen spent winters in Florida at Sun & Lake for 30 years.  He was one of Edgewood golf course founders with a good friend Ken Peterson.  Kelly loved to play golf.  He was on the school board when it consolidated to be Putnam County School District, he was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church and was also on the church council.  Kelly was a life member of Magnolia American Legion Post #254.
Survivors include two sons, Donald (Patty) Carlson of The Villages, FL and Philip (Sherrie) Carlson of Granville; one daughter, Christine (Vaun) Meinhold of Streator; daughter-in-law, Kalynn Carlson of Aurora; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; one sister, Ella Mobeck; one brother,Wallace Carlson; one son, John Carlson; one grandchild, Angela Carlson.

Doris was born June 3, 1934, at home in Troy Grove to Joseph J. and Marion (Becker) McNally, and was the first in her family to graduate from Mendota High School.  She married Robert T. Dissinger on December 31, 1955 at Holy Cross Church in Mendota.  He passed away August 25, 1998.  Doris always said she was so proud that she had “good” kids...Donna (Mike) Zuniga of Granville, Barb (Jack) Schmitz of Mark, Bob (Marcia) Dissinger Jr. of Spring Valley, Linda (Dan) Kozel of LaSalle and Shirley (Dennis) Pacetti of Utica, along with grandchildren Michelle (Jason Caresio) Zuniga of Peru, Michael Zuniga of Granville, Bobby (Julie) Zuniga of Granville and their boys Brayden, Tyson & Jaxon, several nieces & nephews, bonus grandchildren and bonus great-grandchildren.
Doris will forever be remembered for her dedication to family and her unwavering work ethic at home and the 33 years that she worked at Hobbs, Spring Valley.  Never one to complain, she quietly saw to everyone's needs before her own.  She was a talented seamstress, who was a self-taught tailor, upholsterer, quilter, an award-winning baker and “Grand Champion Cook” at the Mendota Fair.  She would stay up half the night preparing her entries that filled the back of a station wagon, and were delivered by one of the kids to the fair while she went to work the next day.  Doris took pride in her flower gardens and grew (and canned) a tremendous vegetable garden each year.  Her compassion and kindness toward everyone she met will be deeply missed.
Along with her children, Doris is survived by her sisters-in-law Irma Judy of LaMoille, Virginia McNally of Cherry and Sandy McNally of Triumph.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, son Jerry (deceased March 21, 2009), sister, Mary Dankenbring, brothers, Joe McNally, Don McNally, Bill McNally, Bobbie McNally and in-laws LeRoy Dankenbring, Paul Biers, Bill Judy, Bernie McNally and MaryLou McNally.

Linda was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church  (County Line).  She loved working in her flower garden and took care of the flowers at Riverside Cemetery.  She was a Brownie leader for many years.  She loved to decorate especially around the holidays for everyone to enjoy.
