Grant was born on August 24,1943 in Portland, Indiana to parents E. Grant Sr. and Helen (Todd) Fager. He grew up in Dunkirk, and graduated a Speedcat from Dunkirk High School in 1961 where he managed the basketball team. He met the love of his life, Martha “Lana” VanHorn, of Pennville, in March 1962 and they married on September 7, 1963. He was a lifetime resident and ardent supporter of the Dunkirk community where he served as Mayor, on City Council and on the Dunkirk Fire Department for 25 years. He worked for Stewart Brothers Furniture in downtown Dunkirk for 44 years, and West Jay Middle School for 6 years.
Those who know Grant knew him as a selfless, proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, an avid fan of the Indiana Hoosiers, an infectious lover of dogs, a wandering outdoorsman,  and as a serial spreader of wisdom (and of ever-so-slightly tall tales). You couldn’t spend more than a moment in his presence without leaving with a smile on your face.
Grant is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lana Fager; son, Doug (Karen) Fager; daughter, Jill (Mike) Wells; grandsons, Tyler (Amanda) and Ethan (Erin) Fager, Spencer and Grant Wells; and great-grandson Clark Fager. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph Fager, and sister, June Ellen Messersmith.

Mitsu Bergdoll - March 01, 1938 - January 08, 2021

Obituary Preview: Mitsu Bergdoll passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in the presence of family on January 8th after her courageous battle with cancer. Born March 1, 1938 in Miyako Island, Japan to Shigeru and Tatsu Okuhama. After graduating Miyako high school (Class of 1957) and living in Naha, Okinawa for a short time, she set out to Tokyo where she worked in the finance department at Tachikawa Air Force Base. This is where she met James Bergdoll, Jr., her future husband of 48 years. She made the brave move to start a new life in Indiana and was married on May 8, 1972 on Beaver Hill Farm in rural Dunkirk, IN where her and Jim spent most of their married life.
In the 1980’s, Mitsu became known for a Japanese craft called Temari after an article in Family Circle magazine. These decorative balls were popular at Christmas and people from around the country would call in with orders for the holidays.
She was a retiree of Saint-Gobain in Dunkirk. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and an active member of the Indiana Okinawa Kenjinkai. Mitsu enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, traveling back to Okinawa, watching her beloved grandchildren and spending time with friends and family. Mitsu also loved classical and Japanese standards music.
Her constant and contagious smile, kindness, generosity, and friendliness will be missed by all who knew her. As a young girl, she was shaped by daily struggle to simply survive the aftermath of WWII. She saw first hand that all material possessions are transitory. However, friends and family are everlasting and imparted this to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband James; son Brant Bergdoll (Stacie) of Noblesville, IN; daughter Loree Everette (Jerry Greene) of Indianapolis, IN and three grandchildren. Sisters Shizue Okuhama and Ayako Sakurai of Okinawa, Japan.
Her family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital and Cancer Care, IU Ball Memorial Hospital, Home Health Angels, and Transitions Hospice.

He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Patte, five children, Mike, Shelley, Lisa, and Matt Bishop, all of Dunkirk and Lindsey Bishop of Louisville, KY, three sisters, Nancy Miller, Carolyn (Michael) Turner, and Sandra (Richard) Buckner all of Dunkirk, 7 grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Brittany, Brooke, Zach, Noah, and Nathan, and 11 great grandchildren. Obituary Preview: Arivin Leslie Brown, 81, of Dunkirk, IN passed away peacefully Monday, December 31, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ridgeville, IN on August 20, 1937 he was the son of the late Everett and Devona Irene Brown.  Arvin enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards; was a member of the Elks and Moose Lodges in Dunkirk, Eagles in Portland and VFW in Ft. Recovery, OH. He retired from Ross Mold in 1996 and he and his wife, Phyllis J. (Bailey) Brown celebrated 62 years of marriage on December 28, 2018.
Arvin leaves to cherish his memory his wife; two daughters, Juanita Clark of Hartford City and Nadine Brown of Dunkirk; two sons, Jim Brown and Paul Brown of Dunkirk; two brothers Robert Brown (Shirlene) of Union City and Ronald Brown (Shelby) of Arrowhead, OK; one sister Karen Foltz (Don) of Plano, TX; and eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Rhett Colin Brown.
Per the wishes of Arvin, there will not be a memorial service or visiting hours. Cremation was chosen and will be arranged by Dunkirk Memorial Chapel; burial will be at Bluff Point Cemetery at a later date.

Ireland, and he survives.
Mary managed the Central Indiana Gas Office in Dunkirk until starting her family. After being a stay at home mother for many years she returned to work at Stewart Brothers Furniture as the bookkeeper/office manager, retiring from there when her grandchildren were born. She liked to play the piano and enjoyed knitting. She liked to entertain and cherished the times spent with family. She will be remembered for her beef and noodle dinners and sugar cream pie.
In addition to her husband of 70 years, John, she is survived by her two daughters, Carol (Dan) Whitesell and Susan Adams; her grandchildren, Kirsten (Brenda) Ireland, John Whitesell, Laura (Linus) Roessner, Jarrod (Meredith) Whitesell and Sarah Coleman; great granddaughters, Camille Tweedy and Lillian Whitesell; one nephew and four nieces that were special to her; and dear friends from school, Kate, Joan, Norma and Scoop.
