Reynold FitzPatrick - February 09, 1941 - February 26, 2020

Departed: 02/26/2020 (Daly City)
Obituary Preview: Reynold “Fitz” FitzPatrick passed away on Wednesday, February 26th, 2020 at home in South San Francisco.
A husband, a dad, a grand-dad and even a great grand-dad, a brother, an uncle, a friend, a mentor, Swanton Pacific Railroad’s President, a South San Francisco CERT member and ultimately, the truest definition of a renaissance man. Born in Muskegon, Michigan to John and Helen FitzPatrick, Fitz was the oldest of 3 children and he was the best kind of big brother to Brooks and Maureen.
Growing up in Palo Alto, Fitz had an imagination and a keen ability to problem solve life’s biggest challenges. For example, he once re-jiggered the steering column on his car so that he would shift gears with his left hand so he could put his right arm around his “girl”. There was never a shortage of things to ”fix”.
A renaissance guy through and through. Fitz could fix anything and everything… from cars, boats, bikes, steam engines to plumbing, and electrical wiring. He could build a deck and a green house or fix the roof on your house. He could grow a veggie garden and flowers, or custom build cabinets for the bathroom. If a part for a steam engine project at Swanton couldn’t be found, he could make his own part back at home in his “garage”. If you had an idea for the next big invention and needed a proto-type, he’s your guy. If you wanted to know how something worked, he was the person to ask. He knew a lot about a wide variety of subjects and never made you feel inferior for asking. In fact, he was happy to share his knowledge.
People were drawn to him. He was an honorable man, a great friend and trusted mentor. Those who knew him loved him for his humor, integrity and leadership. His impact was significant and he will be missed by so many.
Fitz is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Kelley, grandchildren Stevie, John, Nikolas and Keira, nephew Shawn (Richard), brother Brooks (Mary Beth and nephews, Shawn & Ryan), sister Maureen and life long friends Andy and Vera.
