Rebecca (Becca) Mason Rook - July 27, 1949 - May 01, 2024

Departed: 05/01/2024 (Greenville)
Obituary Preview: Heaven received an angel with the arrival of Rebecca (Becca) Mason Rook, 74, wife of Benjamin Thomas Rook. Becca died on May 1, 2024 at her home in Greenville, SC with her husband by her side. She had fought a long battle with Parkinson's Lewy Body disease. As she experienced the escalating devastation of her illness, she became an inspiration to all. She greeted each day with a smile of optimism, deep appreciation for her husband's abundant loving care, delight in her energizingly beautiful surroundings, and visits from her devoted family and friends.
Born in Corpus Christi, TX, she was the daughter of the late Mrs. Mildred McClain Mason of Charlotte, NC and the late Mr. William Cornelius Mason of Laurinburg, NC. Though she moved with her family to Charlotte, she remained a "high-spirited" Texan throughout her life. Becca was a graduate of Appalachian State University. She then earned a Master of Guidance and Personnel Services from Clemson University and worked at Greenville Technical College as a college counselor.
Becca had a strong desire to make a difference in her community. She and Ben were involved in the creation of the Cancer Survivors Park and in the establishment of Artisphere in Greenville. Moreover, she volunteered for many organizations - the Junior Leagues of Greenville and Charlotte, the Clemson University Center for Visual Arts, and the Hessie Morrah Garden Club.
Becca and Ben met in Charlotte, and it was love at first sight. After a long courtship, they married in 1973. Throughout their 56-year partnership, Becca's generous and gracious spirit helped Ben establish relationships with his clients that lasted a lifetime. She was always eager to provide leadership and contribute to the many endeavors required of Ben's career. In addition, she eagerly led the many moves of the family in support of building their lives and businesses together in Boston, Charlotte and ultimately in Greenville.
Becca was a devoted wife and mother and an avid Clemson football fan. Her pride and joy was raising her daughters. Becca was a devout Christian, as exemplified by her constant faith and service to others. She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, gardening, exercising, and volunteering. She also hosted many charitable events in her home and made entertaining for hundreds look so easy.
In addition to her husband Ben, Becca is survived by her children, Kelly Rook Wolfensperger (Mike) of Atlanta, GA and Jennifer Rook White (Chris) of Austin, TX along with her four granddaughters, Madison and Savannah Wolfensperger, and Katherine and Elizabeth White. She is also survived by her sister, Pam Lane (Cliff) of Raleigh, NC, her brother Doyt Mason of Houston, TX, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Drs. Donna and Cary Stroud of Easley, SC.
The family is extremely grateful to Becca's extensive medical team, including Dr. Jim Burford, Dr. Kathleen Woschkolup, and the world's best caregivers Kristal Blanton and Tamiko (Miko) Durham. We are also grateful for the consultations provided by the integrated care team at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
A small family service will be held at their home with Pastor Stephen Kidd officiating.

Having been born in the fabled Saratoga Springs, New York to Gill Clark and Minnie (Weston) Clark on November 17, 1928, she saw nearly a century of change, turmoil and new experiences. In many ways her life reflects those same things: marrying and raising and nurturing her four children; in middle age following her heart to the beaches of Florida; working as a highly respected as an expert claims adjuster; and finally realizing her ultimate dream of living her retirement years in her log home in her beloved mountains of Tennessee. Through all these years she loved meeting new people and latterly sharing her life with her dear Mittens, Prince, Savannah and Meg.
A lifelong Methodist, she always enjoyed being involved in activities in the church. She was filled with Christian compassion, often going out of her way to support and comfort those in need and her love for God was evident in all that she was. She was especially proud of her long membership and active participation in the Good Fellowship Sunday School Class of Sevierville First United Methodist Church during all the years she lived in Tennessee.
As she becomes part of the celestial throng in the Lord's loving and welcoming arms she is again united with her parents and her long departed sisters Janet Clark and Elisabeth Graves. Left to thank God for her and all she meant to them are her four children: Wayne Hazard of Greenville, SC; Bruce (Elizabeth) Hazard of South Glens Falls, NY; Glenn Hazard of Middleburg, VA; and Gayle (Robert) Bencivenga of Greer, SC; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and her sister Jean Ernst of Saratoga Springs, NY.
While we may no longer see or touch her, she is nonetheless there for each of us. May her heavenly presence continue to warm your heart.

Obituary Preview: With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we bid farewell to Ryan Michael Clairmont, who departed this world on April 13, 2024, at the tender age of 35. Ryan was not just a man; he was a symphony of calmness, intellect, and unwavering love. His departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will forever dance in the melody of our lives.
Ryan was a man who lived on his own terms, embracing each day as an opportunity for adventure and growth. His unwavering spirit of exploration led him and his beloved husband, Anthony Thompson, on countless journeys across the globe. From the bustling streets of Bangkok to the serene beaches of Maui, they navigated the world hand in hand, painting their memories with the vibrant hues of their shared love.
Ryan's zest for life extended beyond travel; it manifested in his passion for culinary exploration. A maestro in the kitchen, he transformed simple ingredients into culinary symphonies that danced on the taste buds. To Ryan, the table was not just a place to dine; it was a stage where stories were shared and memories were created.

Their timeless melodies provided the soundtrack to his life, serenading him through moments of joy, sorrow, and everything in between. With each note, he found solace, inspiration, and a connection to something greater than himself.
Though Ryan's physical presence may be absent, his essence lingers in the laughter of his daughter, Wagner, and in the loving embrace of Anthony. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and boundless curiosity-a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to Anthony and Wagner, Ryan is survived by his devoted mother, Lori Clairmont, his dear brother, Dylan Clairmont, and his maternal grandparents, George and Laura Hrutkay. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful tapestry of memories he gifted us and find solace in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide us through the journey of life.
Rest easy, dear Ryan, and may your soul find eternal peace in the symphony of the cosmos. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Lucy Cunningham Walker - August 19, 1940 - April 12, 2024

Departed: 04/12/2024 (Greenville)
Obituary Preview: How do you begin to explain the life, love, and creative spirit of Lucy Cunningham Walker? The level of devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend is beyond explanation. She loved intensely and continuously thought of the welfare of others. This love began August 19, 1940, as the second child of William Harold and Olive Wrenn Cunningham. She was born on what is now known as Mitchell Road in Greenville, South Carolina into a loving family joining her brother, David, followed by brother, Johnny, and sister, Doris Kay. As high school came along, Lucy met the love of her life, James Dean - or at least a very close approximation, named Ellis Mamon Walker (The Rebel Without a Clue). He swept this sweet shy girl off her feet in his chariot (in the form of a yellow school bus) and delivered her safely to school and back home again. Their love continued to grow, and on July 19, 1958, in the azalea-filled front yard of Lucy's childhood home, Mamon and Lucy were married by Lucy's grandfather, Pastor John Wrenn, in a sweet and simple ceremony. Following the wedding, Mamon and Lucy started their adventure moving far, far away - to the family land next-door. Four years later, their daughter, Karen, was born. Seven years and six days later, Mamon and Lucy were again blessed with their son, Danny. This union would last almost 65 loving years, only broken with the passing of Mamon on November 25, 2022.
Lucy is survived by her adoring children, Karen "Kay" Walker Mullins (Nicholaus "Nick" James Mullins), and John Daniel "Danny" Walker (Mary Curtin Walker). Also surviving are grandchildren, Zachary Mullins (Jenny), Lindsey Fielder (Davis) and Mitchell Mullins (Allie), Morgan Walker (Montel Thompson); great-grandchildren, Gracie, Brianna, Landon, Mason, Camden, Charlotte, and Jordan; great-great-grandson, Bryson; brother, Johnny Cunningham (Joan); sister, Doris Cunningham; sister-in-law, Betty Cunningham; brothers-in-law, Jones Walker (Shirley) and Kenneth Walker; along with five step-grandchildren and their spouses; and eight step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Morgan's mother, Melanie Williams Walker.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David; granddaughter, Lauren Marie; and sister-in-law, Ruby Walker.
Today, we know Lucy is resting in the arms of Jesus, having given her family evidence of her faith in Christ throughout her life. It is our prayer that each of you will know our Savior the way Mom did.
A visitation will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown, on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with concluding prayers led by Rev. Jim Duncan beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church Missions Fund, 19 Sidney St., Greenville, SC 29609.
