John Anthony Lomelo - February 11, 1929 - May 01, 2020

Obituary Preview: John Lomelo , 91, former resident of Tallmadge, OH, passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2020.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Adeline Lomelo; his devoted children, Frances, Rose, Simon, Andrea, and Matthew; son-in-law, Mark and daughter-in-law, Jennifer; his beautiful grandchildren, Quinn (Meghan), Chris, Rachel, Michella, Craig, Annabelle, Harrison and Sophia; and his great grandchildren, Lavender and Rhodes.
John is preceded in death by his son, Anthony Lomelo.
John Lomelo was born in Akron, OH to Anthony and Amelia Lomelo. He is a graduate of North Hill High School and attended Akron University. He served in United States Army as a Combat Engineer, Bridge Foreman and was proud to be a Veteran of the Korean War. He was awarded Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, ROK Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal and two Overseas Bars. His career as Vice President of Lomelo Construction and Owner of Lomelo and Sons Construction spanned over 40 years. John was a Lifetime Member of MSC Italian Club and a parishioner at Our Lady of Victory, St. Bernard Parish and St. Martha.
John was a larger than life man with larger than life stories; a first generation Italian American with a once in a generation life that spanned from a humble birth in the great depression to high school drum major and theater usher at the dawn of Hollywood cinema to front line service as a U.S. Army Combat Engineer during the Korean War to being Vice President of his family construction company- Lomelo Construction Co. that paved a good portion of Ohio’s highways and byways.
He never met strangers because he was a genuinely charming man who was always quick to crack jokes and trade his slice of life with anyone who would listen and share their’s as well; and most did gladly. John’s greatest treasure was his family though and family life was filled with laughter, music, chess, wrestling, and long drives full of conversation about anything and everything.
He always encouraged his family to not only dream impossible dreams, but to live them out; John was the father and grandfather of a family full of entrepreneurs, artists, travelers, and free thinkers who continue his legacy of life long learning and the pursuit of joy today.
A Celebration of Life and private Christian burial will be held with a date to be determined.

Patricia Thompson - February 12, 1928 - April 24, 2020

Obituary Preview: Patricia Ann Thompson, 92, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2020, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Buckhannon, West Virginia, Patricia later moved to Akron where she graduated from Central High School in 1946.  She lived in Tallmadge for 60 years. Patricia was employed with Tallmadge City Schools for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1989.
She was an active member of The Chapel in Akron for over 60 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Hospital Visitation Team, and, as a cancer survivor, was involved with the Cancer Support Group. Recently she attended The First Congregational Church of Tallmadge. Patricia was a member of the Tallmadge Primetimers, Tallmadge AARP, and Mr. & Mrs. Club.
Patricia, “Miss Patty” as she was affectionately called, loved spending time with her family, especially the 68 years she had spent with her husband Patrick. In recent years, she looked forward to her frequent shopping and dining outings with daughter Renee.  Her greatest joy in life was delighting in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, always supportive of them, and sharing her wisdom and life experiences with them. She enjoyed passing down her baking and holiday traditions with each generation, playing cards, and days spent outside in the sunshine. She adored her great grand-daughters and so loved visits and activities with them.  She will forever be remembered for her kindness, grace and classic style.
Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Melva Windle; father, Fred Windle; and husband, Patrick Thompson.
Patricia is survived by daughter, Renee Thompson of Akron; sons, Patrick Craig (Joan) Thompson, Kevin (Carmen) Thompson, Jeff (Linda) Thompson all of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Jacob (Deb) Thompson, Dustin Thompson, Nick (Victoria) Thompson, Brandon (Taylor) Thompson, Erin Thompson, Kristen Thompson, Austin Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Jennifer (Corey) Moke; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Thompson, Mila Thompson, Evelyn Thompson, Chloe Moke, Juliana Moke; special cousin William (Theresa) Thompson of Cuyahoga Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Danbury of Tallmadge and the doctors and nurses at Western Reserve Hospital for their care and compassion, especially during this difficult time.
A private burial will take place for the immediate family and a memorial service will be announced at a later time.

Robert "Bo" Brescia - March 25, 1949 - April 13, 2020

He was preceded in death by his parents Benidict and Concetta and his brother Ben.
He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Deborah; children, Jennifer Brescia (Scott) and Aaron Brescia (Cristin); brother Randall; beloved grandchildren, Anthony and Dominic Brescia and countless friends.
In lieu of a funeral service, his family will plan to honor him with an informal gathering when circumstances allow.

Louis D Giovanelli - October 27, 1931 - April 12, 2020

Obituary Preview: Louis was born on October 27, 1931 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Guistina and Luigi Giovanelli.
He attended Alliance Public Schools and St. Joseph Elementary School and graduated from Alliance High School on June 9, 1949. He attended and graduated from Mount Union College on June 7, 1953 where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau social fraternity. He married Audrey Margaret Schlosser on June 27 of that year.
He then joined the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served in Germany during that time. While in Germany he had the opportunity to visit the villages in the Trentino Province of Italy where his father and mother were from.  After his honorable discharge from the Army, he joined the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where he served in various and increasing roles of responsibility in the Corporate Accounting office.  He retired from Goodyear over 30 years ago.  Lou and “Peg” moved to Conshohocken, Pa and lived and worked there for several years before returning to the Akron Area (Tallmadge, OH).  During their over 50 years of marriage they had the opportunity to travel extensively and enjoyed socializing with their family and friends throughout the region.
“Peg” passed away from cancer September 27, 2005.  Lou cared for her at home and was with her until her very last breath.
Lou married the former Patricia Sovacool in August of 2007.  They moved to a home in Cuyahoga Falls, OH where they were active in the Immaculate Heart of Mary parish.  They enjoyed traveling including trips to England and Ireland.  Later Pat fell victim to Alzheimer’s disease and spend four years at the Danbury Woods Memory care unit in Cuyahoga Falls.  Lou never failed to visit with her every day.  He eventually moved to the Danbury Independent living facility adjacent to Danbury Woods so that he could be close to Pat until the very end.  Pat passed away in April 2018.
After a serious illness in April 2019, Lou moved to the Danbury Woods assisted living unit and remained there until he passed on April 12, 2020.
In addition to his parents and both Peg and Pat, Lou was preceded in death by his sister Teresa Grecu and his sister Margaret Bryan.
Lou is survived by his sister Virgiline Balazs of Grand Rapids, MI, Six step children and many step grandchildren, eleven nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Kelly’s passion was her family and friends. She loved spending time with those that she loved, laughing and reminiscing. Kelly loved country music, movies, and socializing.
Kelly loved people and made friends everywhere she went. She loved chatting to anyone and everyone and almost always seemed to be on the phone talking to someone. Kelly had a kind heart and helped anyone that she could when they needed it. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Kelly is survived by her daughter, Bethany Woznicki; siblings, Christine Gorman, Carolyn Sue (Tom) Witteman, Ruby Carol Switzky, Steve Martin, Michael (Karen) Martin; many nieces and nephews: Penny Witteman, Janmichael Gorman, Christal (George) Shokri, Adam (Adrienne) Witteman, Amanda Ketchum, Chelsea Ketchum, Kayla Martin, Eve Switzky, and Lucas Woznicki.
She is preceded by her husband, Kenneth Woznicki; parents, Fred and Roberta, and brother, Tim Nelson.

Marilyn Jackson - June 14, 1935 - March 21, 2020

Obituary Preview: Marilyn Jackson, 84 went to be with the Lord March 21, 2020.
Marilyn was raised in Stow.  She married her high school sweetheart Jim and they were married for 55 years.   They built their home in Tallmadge and raised two daughters.  Marilyn was loving, compassionate and giving.  She valued time spent with family and friends.
She went back to work when her kids were older and worked at Kent State until she retired.  Marilyn was active in the Prime Time group at The Chapel.  She enjoyed helping others and she was involved in various volunteer projects.  Marilyn also enjoyed using her creative skills, reading, swimming, hot coffee and a big bowl of ice cream.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Jackson; parents, Leon and Marie Biltz; brother, John Biltz; son in-law, Bill Miller and nephew, Craig Jackson.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Chris (Ed) Lerch and Jennifer Miller both of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Ashley (Joe) Marochino and Jamie Lerch of Tallmadge; brother in-law/sister in-law, Don and Nita Jackson; sister in-laws, Marge Von Stein and Sandie Hurd; nieces, Kathy Jackson and Connie Boyden; nephews, Brian Jackson and Dave Biltz.
A private family service was held and a celebration of life will follow at a later date.

Dominic A Rizzo - May 16, 1927 - March 20, 2020

Obituary Preview: Dominic A. Rizzo, Sr., 92, was born on May 16, 1927 and passed away March 20, 2020.  He was born and lived all of his life in Akron.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Austria during World War II. Dominic worked diligently for McKesson Drug Company as a salesman to hospitals and retired in 1989 with 47 years service. He joined the Unione Abruzzese Society (now the Italian Center) in 1977 and has been a member for 43 years. During that time he held various officer positions and served on many committees, including his most recent position as Acting Manager of the Ristorante Abruzzo weekly spaghetti dinner. He also was a past member and past President of the Council of Italian-American Societies and had always been active in the Italian community. He was a proud supporter of Hoban High School and sent his four sons there. His strong work ethic and dependability made him an inspiration and respected role model in the community and to all those around him.
He married Viola November 8, 1947 and began a family. His legacy is his large, close family that still sees each other and genuinely loves to spend time together.
Dominic enjoyed going on vacations to Olgebay and Las Vegas, where he loved going to the casinos. He also loved Sunday family meals, cruising, watching sports and frequent sleepovers with his grandchildren. Dominic loved his family and his Italian heritage. There are many great family moments including their 60th wedding anniversary in Italy, where they visited his family hometown of Finocchito and met his first cousin and their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Angelina Rizzo; sister, Jennifer Barbuto; brother, Carmen Rizzo.
Dominic is survived by his wife of 72 years, Viola; sons, Frank (Mary Lynne) Rizzo of Stow, Vincent (Marie) Rizzo of Akron, Dominic Jr. (Pattie) Rizzo of Green, Anthony (Jeff) Rizzo of Lakewood; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Myra;  brothers, Gerald West of Bath ; half-brother, Joel Cosgray of Florida; half-sister, Jean (Sam) Pochucha of San Antonia, TX.

Marcia Zuravel - March 18, 1943 - March 12, 2020

Obituary Preview: Marcia Irene Zuravel passed away March 12, 2020.
Born in Butler, PA on March 18, 1943 she resided in Tallmadge for most of her life.  Marcia retired from East Ohio Gas (Dominion), where she worked as secretary to the vice president for 30 years.  She was a member of the Sons of Herman and past president of the Women of Sons of Herman.  Marcia was an avid bowler most of her life until she retired.  One of her greatest joys was spending time with The Magnificent Seven.  A group of seven women who traveled, took cruises and had outings every month.  Marcia loved every moment with them.  She was a member of First Congregational Church of Tallmadge all her life and was on the Board of Deacons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Grace Stewart; husband, Larry Stickle; and brother in law, Jim Kelly.
Marcia leaves behind her husband of 20 years, Gary Zuravel; sister, Anita Kelly; step daughter, Michelle Quirk and her children, Miranda and Brandon; nephew, Bill Watson; niece, Kristina Holt; great nieces, Danielle, Kellie, Aimee, Jessica, Emily; and many great great nieces and nephews.
Per the family services have been cancelled until further notice.
Interment will take place at Tallmadge Cemetery.
In lieu of remembrances, donations may be made to First Congregational Church of Tallmadge.

Brenden William Kidikas - May 24, 2004 - February 26, 2020

Obituary Preview: Brenden William Kidikas, 15, passed away on February 26th, 2020 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Akron on May 24th, 2004, he lived all of his life in Randolph, Ohio.
Brenden was an elementary school graduate of St. Joseph School in Randolph, where he excelled as an honors student. During his youth, he enjoyed playing soccer, building Lego sets, and watching Marvel movies with his father. Brenden attended Waterloo Local Schools for middle school and high school. He was an honors student and as a freshman, he was a first-year letterman on the Waterloo Varsity Soccer team. He enjoyed playing the clarinet and trumpet in his high school marching and concert band. He also participated in ski club with many of his friends where he learned to ski for the first time.  During his free time, he immersed himself in playing video games with his friends while squirreling away junk food and Mountain Dew for later consumption.  Brenden adored vacations with his family and was fortunate enough to have visited 32 states in his short 15 years of life.  He was, however, once irritated on vacation when a “thicc” Hawaiian Monk seal beached itself upon his sandcastle.  Along with his mother, Brenden was a devoted Green Bay Packers football fan and was proud to wear the green and gold year round.  He was able to make a trip to Green Bay to experience opening day of training camp this past summer, collect player autographs and tour Lambeau field.
Throughout his entire life, Brenden was a kind, soft hearted individual who always kept a positive mindset during difficult trials. He was able to make an unforgettable impact on all lives that crossed paths with him.  Brenden was known for interjecting his dry and “sometimes” sarcastic sense of humor into conversation, which would strike a smile upon anyone’s face. He was loved by so many people and will be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched.
Brenden was preceded in death by grandparents, Frank and Kathryn Kidikas, Richard Tronick, and cousin, Aaron Kidikas.
Brenden is survived by his parents, Frank and Julie Kidikas; sisters, Larissa and Sarah Kidikas all of Randolph; grandmother, Delores Tronick of Tallmadge, OH; aunts Carol (Mark) Harris of Peachtree City, GA; Cheryl (John) Thurmond of Palm Harbor, FL; Debbie Bennett of Tarpon Springs, FL; uncles, Robert (Jo Ann) Kidikas of Kent, OH; Gregory Tronick of Mogadore, OH; Steven (Susan) Tronick of Colorado Springs, CO; Bryan (Dori) Tronick of Erie, CO; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 9:30 a.m.- 12:00 pm at St. Joseph Church in Randolph located at 2643 Waterloo Rd.
Mass of Christian burial will follow visitation at 12:00 p.m., with Fr. Thomas Acker officiating.

She was a 1967 graduate of Bryan High School. She married Don McBride on February 6, 1971 in Bryan.  She was a licensed cosmetologist and worked at Capelli’s Salon in Bryan for 35 years where she became the salon owner from 1996 until 2005. She also worked as a teacher aide for the Bryan Pre-school at the Presbyterian Church.  Kathy enjoyed decorating, shopping, and working in her flower garden.  She treasured the time she could spend with her friends and family, especially her two grandsons.
Kathy is survoived by her daughter, Mindi (Mike) Papania of Stow, OH; two grandsons, Mason and Madox Papania; sister, Karen (Marv) Miller of Fremont, IN one brother-in law, Dave (Cindy) McBride of Bryan; three nephews, Tate (Melissa) Miller of Perrysburg, OH Cory (Marla) Miller of Powell, OH, Kip (Christy) McBride of Georgia, and one niece, Kylee (Matt) Uran of Bryan. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
There will be no visitation.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Bryan.

George served in the United States Army and retired from Chrysler after 30 years of service as a pipefitter.  He was a member of Our Lady of Victory church in Tallmadge, Ohio.  He enjoyed volunteering and served at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens as a tour guide, a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Family, and most recently at Summa Health System where he provided support to terminally ill patients.  George loved to run, and over the years he participated in many marathons such as the Cleveland, Columbus, and Marine Corp to name a few.   He was also a world traveler and some of his favorite trips were to Fiji and Italy.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Danae, parents, George and Mary Mueller, and brother John Mueller. George is survived by his daughter Rhonda (Tom) Sims; sons, Eric (Lanita) Mueller, James (Jamie) Mueller, grandchildren, Patrick, Jacob, Carter, Chandler, Alexandra, great grandchildren, Colson and Monroe, sisters Rita (Tim) Smith, Barb (Don) Carlson, and sister-in-law, Teresa Mueller.
