Christine Hadley Bonnett Crossan - January 07, 1950 - April 26, 2024

Departed: 04/26/2024 (Wilmington)
Obituary Preview: Christine Hadley Bonnett Crossan, a pillar of love and service, died at home on April 26, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on January 7th, 1950 in Reading, Pennsylvania, she embarked on a journey of profound impact. Her infectious laughter and radiant smile endeared her to all who crossed her path.
Christine's childhood in Wilmington was marked by her spirited involvement in the Girl Scouts and the Civil Air Patrol. She attended P.S. DuPont High School and later graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1967 and earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at University of Delaware in 1971. It was during her senior year of college that she encountered the love of her life, Robin, with whom she shared an unwavering bond and extraordinary love.
Their life together took them across the map, from Connecticut to Florida and Texas, as Robin pursued his career with Rohm & Haas. In 1975, they anchored themselves in Bear, DE, where they raised their four children and built a home that they would share for her lifetime.
Christine epitomized the essence of a devoted homemaker and mother, firmly believing that every mother is a working woman. Her passions knew no bounds; from cooking and sewing to gardening, music, and painting, she adorned her life and the lives of those around her with creativity and care. As the founder of the Red Lion 4-H Club, she shared her talents generously, leaving an indelible mark on her community.
A lifelong educator, Christine embraced the role of a mother, grandmother, and mentor with grace and dedication as she homeschooled her children and taught English as a Second Language in local schools.  She had a strong moral compass and was a passionate advocate for many causes.  She valued her heritage and gave selflessly of her time, serving as Governor of the Mayflower Society of Delaware, President of the Delaware Chapter of New England Women and the Delaware Huguenot Society, Treasurer of the National Huguenot Society, as well as Chair of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Scholarship Committee for Delaware.  She was committed to strengthening her community as a leader in her church, the Rolling Meadows Civic Association and supporting her husband in his role as a Colonial School Board Member.  Professionally, Christine brought her meticulous precision to Agilent Technologies, where she worked as a software tester for the past two decades.
All her passions, involvements, and principles were rooted in her faith in Jesus Christ. A strong advocate of Bible reading, she faithfully read the Bible to her children each night throughout their upbringing and almost never missed a Sunday at church.
Amidst her myriad accomplishments, Christine's greatest legacy lies in her devotion to family, whom she championed every day. Her sudden death leaves behind her adored husband of nearly 53 years, Robin; her children, Sally Lerman (Ken), John Crossan (Garry Staegemann), David Crossan (Amber), Mary Criscuolo (Peter), her grandchildren David Jr, Sam, Will, Jack, Jane, Betty and Peter; and her brothers Jonathan Bonnett (Rosemary) and Paul Bonnett (Wendy).
Though her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, Christine's spirit will continue to inspire love, kindness, and service for generations to come.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, May 2 from 4:00 – 6:00PM.  An additional viewing will be held at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 627 Vance Neck Road, Middletown on Friday, May 3 from 9:30 – 10:30AM, with funeral services immediately following.  Interment will be held in Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington at 12:30PM.

Edmond D. "Ted" Johnson - December 12, 1941 - April 11, 2024

Departed: 04/11/2024 (Wilmington)
Obituary Preview: Edmond D. "Ted" Johnson, age 82, passed away April 11, 2024, at his home in Wilmington, DE, following a two-month battle with an extremely rare, aggressive cancer.
Ted would be proudest to be remembered as a lifelong lover of education. He was a graduate of St. Paul's Academy, Concord, NH, class of 1959; Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, with degrees in math and chemistry, class of 1963; and the University of Florida Law School, Gainesville, FL, class of 1983, where he graduated first in his class.
Ted's professional careers were many and varied, but he found his true work passion during his 33 years in the world of corporate litigation in Delaware. Beginning in 1983 after graduating from law school, he joined the law firm of Morris Nichols Arsht & Tunnell, followed by The Bayard Firm, and concluded his legal career at Pepper Hamilton, retiring at the end of 2015. Ted worked long hours, but he thrived on the mental challenges of being a litigator. If you were lucky enough to have him in your corner, no one would fight harder for you. His hobbies often involved his need to push his limits, both mentally and physically, but his competitive nature was never about beating the other guy. It was always about his quest to improve upon his last personal best. Whether it be on a black-diamond ski slope, on a racetrack in one of his beloved race cars, or atop a super sport motorcycle, Ted was happiest when he was living on the edge. He also enjoyed sharing with his family and friends his love of flying, sailing, motorboating, scuba diving, and traveling in the RV. Ted was a self-taught computer programmer, photographer, and home
brewer. His deep love of France, with Paris and the Loire Valley in particular, led to many of his most memorable vacations. Whatever interest a family member had, Ted was a full supporter and would educate himself to further their hobbies in any way he could. Ted will be remembered as a man who lived with honor, integrity, and intensity. One of his favorite quotes was, "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain an idea without accepting it." –Aristotle
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Ann Sager Johnson; sons, lain Johnson, Ronan Johnson, and Niall Johnson; brother, Lorne Johnson; sister-in-law, Patricia Figueroa (Tony); nephews, Timothy Figueroa (Adrienne), Christopher Figueroa (Jessica), and Wade Johnson; and nieces, Kate Atkinson (Stephen) and Bennie Bright (Adam).
