Evelyn was a member of the United Methodist Church of Garden City, The Eastern Star where she served as a star point Electa for several years, the American Legion Auxiliary, United Methodist Women and the 54th. Club.
Evelyn was a seamstress and a homemaker.
Evelyn and Charles moved to the area on a farm in Creighton, MO and then a second farm in Garden City, MO before finding their home in town in Garden City, MO where they had been for 50 years, before Charles passed and Evelyn moved in with her daughter in Lee’s Summit where she passed at 86 years old.
Evelyn worked at the Garden City sewing factory in 1973 until it closed. Evelyn then went to work at the Holden sewing factory for a few years. Evelyn then worked at Golden Years retirement home as a housekeeper and a cook.
Evelyn and Charles loved to camp. Almost every weekend they would go camping at the strip pits, Montrose, Lake Paradise and Truman Lake.
Two words describe my mother, powerful tornado. The amount of work that woman did on a daily basis was extraordinary. On the farm she worked an acre garden. Evelyn weeded, harvested, canned and pickled everything it produced to feed us in the winter months as well as the summer months. She did laundry on an old wringer wash machine, and hung the clothes on the line to dry, even in the winter time. She ironed everything. Evelyn would sprinkle the clothes down with liquid starch and roll them up and place them in a laundry basket until she could get to them later that day. Evelyn cooked full home cooked meals every meal, and every meal was on time when my dad walked in the door so he could get out to the farm work after working a full day at Bendix. Mom dressed chickens, gathered eggs, scraped off the cream from the cows milk and made butter in the butter churn on a regular basis. She washed dishes by hand, kept a very clean house and sewed clothes for me to wear, but every day she would take time out in the afternoon to sit down and read me a book. It was our time. When we moved to town, Mom took me to twirling lessons, even to Midway. She did not like to drive but she did it for me. A very selfless person.
Evelyn and Charles took great pride in their home, yard and garden. One of the best kept in town. Charles and Evelyn were generous with their time volunteering, helping with Church, vacation bible school, and Evelyn was always baking for someone or something that needed a pie, cake, cookies or their famous ice cream. At Christmas they would make divinity and pecan brittle and pass out as much as they could to friends and family. They bought 25 bushel of apples every year and passed them out. It was their way of showing they cared about you. My parents cared a lot about the town they lived in and the people who lived there. They gave money to the preacher to help someone who needed it. Never wanting anyone to know it came from them. They were selfless and proud to be residents of Garden City.
Evelyn will be laid to rest next to her husband Charles in the Garden City Cemetery.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 5, 20212 at the United Methodist Church, Garden City, Missouri at 10:30 a.m.
The family request that masks are to be worn and to practice social distancing while attending the service.

Lou Feeback - February 05, 1927 - April 22, 2021

Departed: 04/22/2021 (Garden City)
Obituary Preview: Helen Louise “Lou” Feeback, 94, of Latour, Missouri was born February 5, 1927 in Belvenville, Wisconsin the daughter of Henry and Jennie (DuCharme) Teubert. She departed this life on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Crown Care Center, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Lou Feeback was an extraordinary nurse, mother and Christian. She loved her family, her God and her country in equal measure.
She left her native Wisconsin to serve her country in the U.S. Navy. She treasured her years as a Navy nurse and officer. In the Navy she met Don Feeback, a farm boy with a work ethic to match her own and a dream of getting somewhere. After mustering out in south Texas, the young couple and their first son headed back to Missouri where Lou worked in the emergency room while Don finished college and then graduate school. Then off they went into the wilds of Oklahoma for his first posting as a hospital administrator. In Oklahoma City a second son was born.
Eventually they made their way back to Don’s home territory in central Missouri and settled down to raise a family that soon included a third son. Lou taught good Navy order and discipline to her three boys. Get up, make your bed, get on with it, was her guiding principle and she passed it on. With strength of will and determination she saw her boys baptized, made Eagle Scouts and college graduates. Her love was always evident, her powers of persuasion considerable, her devotion to her family unmatched.
Late in life she undertook chores, family gatherings and quilting with the same determination she displayed all her life. When her beloved Don passed away she carried on. They had plotted a 15-acre lawn and planted 100 trees around their retirement home in LaTour. For more than two decades she maintained the vast expanse of green, logging a million miles on a diesel John Deere garden tractor.
In her spare time she cross-stitched and quilted heirlooms by the score. She was a dedicated member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church and especially loved sunrise Easter service followed by a dinner she had spent days preparing for her extended family.
Lou Feeback was a devout Christian, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is currently in heaven making sure things are getting done and beds are being made correctly.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L. Don Feeback on January 22, 1998; a son, Mathew Feeback, August 3, 2019; a sister, Pricilla Scott and a brother-in-law, Thomas Thebo.

Departed: 10/11/2020 (Garden City)
Obituary Preview: Ruth Evelyn Zook was born May 3, 1930, near Garden City, MO, the oldest child of C.P. and Florence (Schrock) Yoder. She departed this life on October 11, 2020 at the age of 90. On April 7, 1950 Evelyn married Alvin Zook in one of the first weddings to be held in the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church building. They were married for 65 years before Alvin passed away in April of 2015.
Growing up, Evelyn loved the horses her father trained and used for farming, including Polly, her favorite. She spent many hours in her Grandpa Schrock's orchard picking apples, cherries and a few peaches. As a teenager, Evelyn went to high school in Garden City before attending Hesston Academy, in Hesston, KS, graduating in 1949.
Evelyn and Alvin were the parents of Darrell (Pat) Zook of Philidelphia, MO; Duane (Darla) Zook; Velma (Willard) Yoder; and Delvin (Debbie) Zook all of Garden City, MO. They lived on several different farms in the Sycamore Grove community. Alvin owned Zook's Service Station in Garden City and worked for Sherwood School District as bus maintence, while Evelyn was a homemaker and worked at ABC Health Center from February 1974 to June of 1997. The first few years she worked as a nurses aide, then became the Head of the Laundry Department.
Evelyn accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl, and was baptised at Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church of rural Garden City. She served in various capacities through the years but one of her favorite church activities was Sewing on Tuesdays with the “Quilting Ladies”. This not only produced many beautiful quilts for the annual fall sale, but also much laughter and fun memories with her fellow quilters.
Evelyn had a love for history and spent many hours reading family genealogies and telling stories of her family and community. Her love of history and storytelling has inspired several of her children and grandchildren to continue learning and preserving family, church and Cass County history. Her memory was very sharp: even until the end of her life being able to tell stories with very specific detail, answering questions of family genealogy or knowing exactly where a box was stored in her house.
