Obituary Preview: Vance Burgess Murphy, age 65, passed away surrounded by his children on April, 7, 2022. Vance was born in South Williamson, KY.  He lived in Merrimac, WV during his childhood, moving to the Columbus area in his adolescence.  Vance graduated Grandview Heights High School with the class of 1975 where he made lifelong friends. He lived the majority of his life in Central Ohio.  He was a truck driver and loved to be on the open road. Vance loved spending time with his family making bonfires, competing in board/card games, or any game with a ball.  He coached his kids many sports teams, becoming a fixture on the field and on the team. He also tailgated them, becoming quite the grill master in the process. Vance played a vital role on his many mens softball teams.  He led the team with laughter, and occasionally offended the umpire. Vance is remembered for his infectious laugh, side glances, generosity, care of others. Not excluding of course his secret joy in life to catch anyone by surprise or shock with a good joke or prank. Vance is survived by his brother Paul Steven Murphy, stepbrother John Frye, stepsister Lynne Lieberman, children Brittany (Matthew) Parsonson, Vance B. Murphy II (Kathryn Dirks), Moriah Murphy, Elijah Murphy (John Parker), Emma Murphy, and five grandchildren. Vance was preceded in death by his father Paul M. Murphy, mother Phyllis K. Frye (T.J Frye), sister Vicki E. Murphy and brother Daniel M. Murphy. Visitation with his family will be on May 21, 2022 from 2-4pm, 4pm-5pm we will Celebrate the Life of Vance with a service at John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. She was born in Canton Ohio on January 12, 1939 to the late August and Alberta Mae Frankovich.  Arlene graduated from Canton South High School in 1957 and moved to Columbus, completing studies at Columbus University in 1960. She retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services in 1988. During her career she was active in the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security, serving in several leadership roles. After retirement Arlene served the homeless through the Interfaith Hospitality Network, Faith Mission and various ministries at First Community Church where she was a member. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sister Marilyn Schreiber. She is survived by sister Gloria (Larry) Hackenberg; nephews Luke (Melissa) Hackenberg, Aaron Hackenberg and Matt Hackenberg; niece Lindsay (Eric) Cameron; great-nieces Nadia Compton, Leia Hackenberg, August Hackenberg, and Ruby Hackenberg; great-nephew Leo Compton; and many other family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 5th at First Community Church South Campus, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. Columbus, OH 43212. He is survived by his mother Lois Lawhorne, brothers Bradley and Brian (Lisa Reyes), nieces Lindee and Samantha, nephews Christoper and Charles, aunt Darlene (Dick), uncle Charles (Barbara) and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Samuel Lawhorne, brother Bruce Lawhorne, and aunt Kay (Clayton). Brent was a devoted son and brother as well as an amazing husband and father who loved his family with all of his heart. The man could fix anything, crack sarcastic jokes about everything and bake the best chocolate chips cookies. He was the funniest, most loving man I’ve ever known and we will miss him dearly. May he forever be one with the Force.

Jean's husband Henry, the love of her life, suffered from Parkinson’s disease for many years until his passing in 1994. Jean was exceptionally devoted to Henry throughout illness. Jean was also preceded in death by her parents, Chalmer & Edith Durand, and her brother and his wife, John & Alpha Durand. Jean taught piano lessons for many years and later volunteered at several senior living facilities. Jean and Henry delighted in her young piano students, and she developed lasting friendships with many of her students and their families. She was a loyal friend and will be missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Deyo-Davis funeral home.  Due to the current COVID situation, no formal services are scheduled.

(Shea) Cunningham. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Professor John J. Clarke, and sisters Margaret “Peggy” (Louis) Kratz and Kathryn “Kay” (Clifford) Troup. She is survived by three daughters: Mary Ruth, Chicago: Johannah, Columbus, Ohio and her husband Steven P. Wood, and their two children, Erin and Brian: and Colleen, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and her husband, Phillip F. Michels, and their four children Brigid, Kevin, Aidan, and Deidre. If there was one word that best describes Ruth, it would be considerate. She was quick to ask about her children and grandchildren, and always had a friendly wave and smile. She faced her later years with humor and humility, and maintained her Irish charm to the end. Many complimented her on her remarkably beautiful hair, to which she always responded, “I got that from my Father.” She loved her church, her rosary, the ocean, and her Irish heritage. She was the ultimate family gathering organizer. On holidays she was up at 5 am to “stuff the bird.” And no one made meatballs like Ruth. Ruth was a private person. She was modest. She was a woman of her time – a wife, a mother. She loved her cat Smit. In the end, Ruth wanted very little – a cup of tea, a rosary, anything pewter, and an Irish song. All have benefitted from Ruth’s generosity, her humor, and her love.  Due to COVID restrictions, a mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Andrew’s Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA at a later date.

As the matriarch of 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, she was a true representation of marital commitment to her late husband (1989) and strength for her wonderful family. Rest assured, she knew her job was done and she is happily ballroom dancing with her husband, Jerry Blanchard, in the heavens above. Mimi’s continued faith in the Lord paved the way for their reunion. Miriam was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Cynthia Weinheimer. Her surviving family members are daughters Susan (Jamie) Tackett and Sandra Blanchard; son Michael (Alycia) Blanchard; and son-in-law John Weinheimer; grandchildren Laura (Tim) Harper, Miranda Weinheimer, Sarah Mathews, Anna (Garrett) Matthews, Hannah and Ryan Blanchard, Jenna (Mickey) Webster, and Stephen (Samantha) Reffitt; great-grandchildren Samantha and Natalie Harper, Neveah Keller and Asher Mathews, Wyatt Abbott, Tristan Webster, and Brody Reffitt. The family will receive friends at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. Fifth Ave. on Saturday from 12-2 PM with a prayer service and rosary to follow at 2 PM. Following cremation, she will be laid to rest at Forrest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Deyo-Davis Funeral Home.
