Dolores E. Conway - August 05, 1937 - April 01, 2022

Departed: 04/01/2022 (Phoenixville)
Obituary Preview: Dolores Elizabeth “Dodi” Conway, 84, of Phoenixville, PA, wife of the late Raymond J. Conway, Sr., passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 5, 1937 in Abington, PA she was the youngest daughter of Frank and Regina (Duddy) Conway. Her sisters: Theresa, Patricia, Regina, Joel, Frankie, and Jeanie, have all preceded her in death.
Dolores married the love of her life, Ray Conway on September 28, 1963. They would go on to have 5 children who, along with their spouses, will miss her dearly: Raymond and Trisha (Purcell) Conway, Patricia (Conway) and James Welsh, Serena (Conway) and Steven Straub, Michael Conway, Colleen (Conway) and Jeff Grogan.
Also surviving are Dolores’ 10 grandchildren: JP Welsh and wife Laura (Biesiadecki), Harrison Welsh and wife Emily (Byne), Claire Conway, Libby Conway, Rae Welsh, Meredith Conway, Margaret Welsh, Samantha Conway, Riley Welsh, and Leo Raymond Grogan, who will all carry her strength and faith onward.
Dodi’s careers in life included pediatric nursing, teaching preschool, and being the full time leader of a large and active family. (the job she took most pride in) She was also a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and the Clinic in Phoenixville.
Dolores was a devout Catholic and life-long parishioner of Saint Ann Parish in Phoenixville where she was an Early Childhood Educator, a member of the Women’s Guild, and the quilting club. She was also a Eucharistic Minister and collection counter. Her faith was incredibly strong and gave her the strength to handle the hardships in her life.
She was devoted to Ray. Theirs was a love story for the ages and it knew no limits. Sadly, Ray passed away when Dolores was only 58 years old of cancer and, of course, Dodi was his caregiver until the very end.
Within a few years of Ray’s passing, Dolores’ mind began to betray her and her body quickly followed suit. Dementia took away the person she was and forced her to spend her remaining years completely in the care of others. The fly boy came to whisk Dodi home to her eternal rest on April 1st, just in time for a lovely dinner and beautiful sunset.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dodi’s Funeral Mass in St. Ann Chapel, 604 Main St., Phoenixville, PA on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

Tom spent his entire working career in the automotive collision repair business.  Starting in his early to mid-teens Tom quickly climbed the ladder of success and in his early twenties he opened and operated a successful collision repair business in Norristown, where he was raised. After many years of hard work, Tom closed the shop in Norristown, and sought employment in the collision industry, as a manager and mentor, helping to shape the new and upcoming techs and painters interested in beginning a career in the field of collision repair.
He was highly regarded as a professional of the trade, a fair and decent manager amongst numerous employees, an excellent business associate by many insurance adjusters, advisors, and the many many satisfied customers.  He took pride in making sure every vehicle that left the shop was good enough to have his name associated with it.

He was quite the karaoke king singing Elvis at the pavilion or House of the Rising Sun.
Tom happily went hunting from his trailer while sitting in his recliner with the heater blasting or he accompanied his father-in-law, Al Roberts (Dorothy) and brother-in-law, Wilson Troy Roberts, to the log cabin in the beautiful McKean County mountains. Tom was an avid NASCAR fan for many years, cheering on Dale Earnhardt, Sr. up until Earnhardt’s passing.  He enjoyed having his yearly Memorial Day Picnics where family and friends would all gather by the pavilion listening to awesome music, patriotic ballads, and an evening bonfire after chowing down on the best tasting secret recipe chicken ever made.  Tom participated in a few neighborly, yet friendly, horseshoe competitions, twice bringing home a trophy.  Above all, Tom was a die-hard, bleeding green, Philadelphia Eagles fan. Fly Tom Fly
Surviving along with his wife and mother, is a daughter, Dana Beckett, wife of Kyle, Northwest Philadelphia; and sons Thomas (Tom) Cirafisi, II, husband of Tiffany, Gilbertsville; Cody Deering, Jeffersonville; and Storm Cirafisi, at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including biographical information, achievements, and details about their life. It's usually published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and community members of the passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing essential information to those who need to know about the passing. They help to notify people of the funeral or memorial service arrangements, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences to the grieving family.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the obituary is written by the family members or close friends of the deceased, often with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer. In some cases, the deceased may have written their own obituary in advance.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the deceased person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include details about the funeral or memorial service, charitable donations, and other relevant information.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words. Longer obituaries may be more suitable for online platforms or memorial websites.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a great way to personalize the tribute and make it more engaging.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and requirements. They may have specific guidelines for content, length, and formatting. Be prepared to provide necessary documentation, such as a death certificate or proof of relationship.

Can I write my own obituary in advance?

Absolutely! Writing your own obituary can be a therapeutic exercise in reflecting on your life and accomplishments. It can also spare your loved ones from having to gather information during a difficult time. Consider storing it with your important documents or sharing it with a trusted friend or family member.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies depending on the publication, location, and length of the notice. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to several hundred dollars. Online platforms may offer free or low-cost options.

Can I edit an obituary after it's been published?

In most cases, corrections or edits can be made to an online obituary. However, printed newspapers may have limited opportunities for changes due to production schedules and deadlines. Be sure to review carefully before submission.

How long does it take for an obituary to be published?

The timeframe for publication varies depending on the publication's schedule and deadlines. Online platforms may publish immediately, while print newspapers may take several days or weeks.

Can I include quotes or lyrics in an obituary?

Absolutely! Including meaningful quotes, lyrics, or poems can add a personal touch and provide comfort to those reading the obituary. Just be sure to verify copyright permissions if necessary.

What's the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, usually including only basic information like name, age, and date of death. An obituary is a more detailed tribute that celebrates the person's life and achievements.

Can I include humor in an obituary?

Yes! Humor can be an effective way to capture the personality and spirit of the deceased. Just be mindful of tone and audience sensitivity.

How do I find old obituaries?

You can search online archives of newspapers or genealogy websites like Ancestry.com or Newspapers.com. Local libraries or historical societies may also maintain archives of past newspapers.

Can I republish an old obituary online?

If you have permission from the original publisher or copyright holder, you can republish an old obituary online. Be sure to cite the original source and respect any copyright restrictions.

What's the purpose of an obituary guestbook?

An online guestbook allows friends and family to leave condolences, share memories, and sign their name in tribute to the deceased. This provides comfort and support to the grieving family.

How long do online obituaries remain available?

The duration varies depending on the platform or publication. Some online obituaries may remain accessible indefinitely, while others may be archived after a certain period.

Can I create a memorial website instead of an obituary?

Absolutely! Memorial websites offer a more comprehensive way to celebrate a person's life, often including photos, videos, stories, and tributes from friends and family.

What's the role of social media in sharing an obituary?

Social media platforms can help spread the word about an obituary quickly and efficiently. Share a link to the online obituary or post a brief summary with a photo to reach a wider audience.

Can I include charitable donations in an obituary?

Yes! Many families choose to suggest charitable donations in lieu of flowers as a way to honor their loved one's legacy and support a meaningful cause.

How do I handle errors or inaccuracies in an obituary?

Contact the publication or platform immediately if you notice any errors. They will work with you to correct the mistake as soon as possible.

Can I write multiple versions of an obituary for different audiences?

Absolutely! You may want to create separate versions for different groups, such as colleagues, friends, or family members. Just be sure to tailor the content appropriately for each audience.

What's the significance of publishing an obituary in multiple languages?

Publishing an obituary in multiple languages can help reach a broader audience and ensure that all who knew the deceased are informed of their passing.
