Ann Regan Papariello - March 20, 1964 - April 08, 2022

Departed: 04/08/2022 (West Chester)
Obituary Preview: Ann Regan Papariello, 58, of Wayne, PA died peacefully at home on April 8, 2022, surrounded by her family. Annie grew up in Radnor, Pa. She was the fourth of Mary Anne and Ted Regan’s five children, and throughout her childhood the Regan’s home was overflowing with life and laughter.
A member of Radnor High School’s class of 1982, Annie was a standout in the classroom and on the tennis, gymnastics and lacrosse teams. In a nod to her natural, quiet leadership, she was voted captain of all three sports teams as well as vice president of her class. She graduated from Williams College in 1986 and moved to Washington, DC. where she worked for a small law firm.
Annie married Chris Papariello whom she had met at her school bus stop at age 15.  Annie and Chris were friends in high school but did not start dating until they met while home from college on winter break. They became inseparable after that first date and were married in 1988.  They enjoyed a 33-year honeymoon and travelled often to destinations such as Ireland, Italy and California.
Annie and Chris raised their sons, Regan, Brendan and Desmond in East Goshen, PA. They named their family the “Pap 5”.  Annie was a devoted mom, who happily supported her sons’ every endeavors. Annie was an active volunteer at Malvern Prep and an enthusiastic sports Mom. She was a born nurturer and made a point of savoring everyday moments. Her grounded, wise spirit was the touchstone for their family.
In 2011, Annie and Chris moved to their dream home in Villanova down the street from their bus stop where they first met.  Annie learned how to make wine and they built a winery in their carriage house. Annie and Chris hosted many parties and charity events over the years.  Annie was always a gifted hostess, with her warm, easy conversation and ready laugh.  She enjoyed creating delicious meals and hosting family and friends.  “The Pap 5” often gathered in their beautiful farmhouse, relaxing around a delicious spread Annie had created – seemingly without effort – easily chatting as the wine flowed.
While genuinely connected to so many, Annie was her own person. She set her own standards, resisted divisive topics, and had no interest in social media. If a conversation took a negative or gossipy turn, she would find a way to get it back on positive ground.  Annie read voraciously but never took herself too seriously. No matter the conversation, an Annie laugh was right around the corner.
A life-long athlete, in later years Annie played on many White Manor Country Club tennis, paddle and golf teams. With each team, her circle of admirers grew larger.
Throughout her two-year battle with cancer, her embrace of the fight spoke volumes about her spirit. She was charming to all around her; and she courageously tried to ease moments that she knew were hard on everyone else. Illness didn’t alter Annie’s character: natural leadership and quiet grace remained front and center. Chris nicknamed her the “Graceful Warrior”. Due to COVID, the journey was essentially time shared between Annie and Chris, and the love and commitment between them was ever present.  Only Annie and Chris could make a cancer battle look romantic.
While Annie embraced life to the end she also was not afraid of what was ahead. Her prayers brought her peace. She was no stranger to loss, and early grief had – rather than render her broken or bitter - only strengthened her faith.
Just last fall, Annie eulogized her beloved dad. There was a collective holding of breath as her now-frail frame gingerly approached the lectern, but her voice rang out and was incredibly strong. She made everyone laugh as she imagined her Father in Heaven, doing the Sunday crossword; a passion they shared. As she spoke, she was strong, loving, clever, funny, and true; and everyone found themselves suddenly uplifted. It was, of course, classic Annie.
Deeply loved as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Annie will be greatly missed.
Annie is survived by her husband Chris Papariello; their sons Regan, Brendan and Desmond Papariello; her mother Mary Anne Regan; her sisters Tracey Papariello  (Tak) and Alison Edwards (Neill); her brother Jeffrey Regan (Ellen); her mother and father-in-law Kathleen and Gerald Papariello; her sister-in-law Kathleen Larkin (Tom); her brother-in-law Steve Papariello (Judy); and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Ted Regan and her brother Teddy Regan.
A Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 followed by an 11:00 AM Mass at Saint Katharine of Siena Church 104 S. Aberdeen Ave., Wayne, PA and a reception at Aronimink Golf Club will immediately follow after the ceremony.

Joseph F. Burns, Sr. - April 19, 1943 - April 04, 2022

Departed: 04/04/2022 (West Chester)
Obituary Preview: Joseph Francis “Joe” Burns, a beloved and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully Monday, April 4, 2022, at age 78.
Born in Philadelphia, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Higgins Burns. He was predeceased by his wife and soul mate of 44 years, Patty Ann Hill Burns, and his brother, Dennis Burns.
Joe cherished his family, and his family treasured him. He is survived and sorely missed by his children: daughter Karen Kellaher and husband, Colin; daughter Kristen Doyle and husband, Erick; and son Joseph III and wife, Colleen. He adored his eight grandchildren: Anna, Moira, and Jack Kellaher; Piper and Sadie Doyle; and Amelia, Teagan, and Joseph (IV) Burns.
Joe is also survived by his dear sister, Patricia Conley; many nieces and nephews; and his wife’s brothers and sister (Tommy, Paul, Joe, John, and Mary Ellen), whom he loved as siblings.
Joe enjoyed a successful career in accounting after graduating from LaSalle University in 1965. He worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry for 38 years, first as a tax agent and ultimately as regional director of the Field Accounting Service.
But this numbers guy was a people person at heart. He volunteered as a leader in YMCA youth programs for his two daughters, served as a coach in recreational soccer and baseball for his son, and donated countless hours to the Saint Agnes School Finance Committee, always making friends and putting others at ease. He enjoyed lifelong friendships, spending every New Year’s Eve for decades with the same close-knit group.
Joe enjoyed a round of golf on a sunny day, a healthy blast of the Rolling Stones, and a good Jack Reacher novel. But cars were his real passion, and he owned many over the years. He loved driving them (a little too fast sometimes), working on them himself, and keeping them pristine, from his very first Ford Fairlane, to his current Caddy (“The nicest car I’ve ever owned”), right down to that lowly blue Topaz with the red vinyl seats.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Joe’s physicians and nurses and to the team at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice.

Craig Robins - February 10, 1943 - March 30, 2022

Departed: 03/30/2022 (West Chester)
Obituary Preview: Craig Robins of West Chester
Craig Robins, our Dad, was born in Philadelphia on February 10, 1943, the son of Russell and Frances Robins, and brother to Rick Robins. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1964 with his bachelor’s degree in anthropology.
He met Susan Kelly in 1961 and they were married June 16th, 1965. It feels impossible to sum up such a remarkable man in so few words, or capture how powerful his presence was in all of our lives. He was a man of character, love, and integrity the like of which we will not see again in our lifetime.
As a husband, he was endlessly devoted to caring for mom. As a dad he was a source of deep and uncompromising wisdom. As a grandfather he was a delight. As a friend he was tender, loving, and engaging. As an elder in the church, he always spoke of his love and faith in Jesus. To a stranger, Dad was effortlessly charming and to an outcast he was a sure friend. We will miss him more than we have words to say. Our hearts are broken. We know his hope was in heaven and the gospel of God’s love. He is survived by his six children, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, with one on the way!
Services will be at 2pm on Sunday April 3, 2022 at the Grove Methodist Cemetery 490 West Boot Road West Chester, PA 19380. Arrangements by DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. West Chester, PA 610-696-1181 www.Dellafh.com

Shirley Umlauf White - April 27, 1931 - March 27, 2022

Departed: 03/27/2022 (West Chester)
Obituary Preview: Shirley Umlauf White passed away peacefully at her home on March 27, 2022 with her family by her side.
Shirley was born on April 27,1931 in the coal region of Ashland, PA to Lillian and Frank Umlauf.  Her parents worked hard to make sure that she and her sister had a chance for a better life. Shirley graduated from the diploma RN program at Abington Memorial Hospital, where she excelled as a nursing student. She especially loved the Operating Room, where she met a cocky young surgical resident, Jack White. Dr. White soon learned who was in charge! Jack and Shirley were married 56 years until his death in 2011.
After Nursing School and Residency, Jack enlisted in the Navy as ship’s physician aboard the USS Yellowstone. Shirley held down the home front and worked as an RN in Newport, RI where they were stationed for two years, and recalled many happy memories.
After moving back to Jack’s hometown of West Chester to set up his surgical practice, Shirley worked in the Operating Room and assisted in the office before turning her attention and skills to being a full time homemaker.
She was also a longtime volunteer at the Paoli Memorial Hospital (now Main Line Health) Cancer Center.
Shirley had a flair for fashion and home decorating. She was a skilled seamstress and made many wonderful Easter outfits, Halloween costumes, and even her own window dressings. She enjoyed entertaining and kept in close contact with her many lifelong friends. But her greatest love was her home “Rockledge” on Lake Champlain in North Hero, VT. Shirley was a true outdoorswoman and nature lover. She not only taught us to swim and waterski, but also how to be quiet and watch the sky and the lake. She loved her purple martins, hummingbirds,  osprey, and loon sitings!
She was our fiercest defender and greatest advocate. We always knew who would be there for us without question. We will miss her dearly but promised to always tell her story. Shirley is survived by her three children: John White, Sue Villarini (Carl), and David White
“Mame” to grandchildren: Merritt (Jay) D’Angelo, James Villarini, Tyler, Brandon, and Riley White. Sister Doris Howe “Aunt DeDe”
And great grandmother to Cameron D’Angelo.
