Passed away on Thursday morning, April 25, 2024 at Brian’s House Hospice Facility in Essexville. She was 70 years old. Jean Ann Buggia was born on November 14, 1953 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Clarence and Jean (Trogan) Buggia. Jean was employed by Testa’s in Palm Beach, FL and Zehnders Frankenmuth as a waitress, retiring after 20 years of service. She also owned and operated Nan’s Food Truck before Food Trucks were popular. Jean Ann was a member of the Catholic Faith for many years.
Although Jean Ann was an only child, she grew up with many cousins who thought of her as a sister rather than a cousin. She enjoyed cooking, especially Italian and never mastered the art of cooking for smaller groups! She was an Ohio State and Notre Dame football fan and took pleasure in wagering against her U of M and MSU family members. Jean Ann was outgoing and loved talking with and meeting new people.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Dominic, Gideon, and Carter Adams; uncle and aunt, Dr. Ronald and Joyce Koehler; several Buggia, Trogan and Furlo cousins; numerous friends from around the country as well as very good friends, Kris and Dan Fuller who talked to her on a daily basis.
Jean Ann was preceded in death by her son Gabriel Jon Adams.
Thank you to the staff of Brian’s House and Compassus Hospice teams for their tender care, compassion, and support.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Please check back for funeral information.

Obituary Preview: Bryan, Amelia age 96, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 with her family by her side. Amelia was born on April 10, 1928 the daughter of Guellerneo and Guadalupe (Leal) Pena. She was united in marriage to Otis Bryan in 1956; he preceded her in death in 1978. Amelia enjoyed walking and looking at flowers. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Amelia is survived by her children; Sandra Rottman, Bonnie (Balentin) Torres and Bruce (LaNora) Bryan, grandchildren; Mario Bryan, Amelia “Mia” Torres, Balentin Torres, Jesse “Jay” Gomez, Angie (Josh) Albers, Travis Bryan, Nicholas Rico, Lupe Bryan and Carly (Robert) Leal, several great and great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Otis, Amelia was preceded in death by a son, Carl Bryan and 7 brothers and sisters.

Obituary Preview: Willard, Ronald, age 72, passed away Thursday morning, April 18, 2024 at his home with his family at his side. Ronald was born on November 22, 1951 in Millet, Michigan the son of the late William and Helen (Bushong) Willard. He was united in marriage to the former Linda Federico on February 14, 1986 in Saginaw, Michigan; she survives him.
Ron was a member of the UAW. He enjoyed fishing, taking care of his yard, boating, watching the Lions and NASCAR. He will always be remembered for his fast cars.
Ronald is survived by his wife; Linda, two sons; Scott (Dana) Wojciechowski and Chad (Joan Romatz) Wojciechowski, grand-daughters; Courtney and Elizabeth Wojciechowski, sister and brothers; Mary Lee Hudson, James, John and David Willard and his K-9 buddies; Wolfie and Sissy. Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother; John Willard and a sister in-law; Karen Willard.

Eleanore was born August 3, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of the late Lawrence and Josephine (Maksimowicz) Olszewski. Eleanore was united in marriage to Harry J. “Crash” Crannell on May 10, 1941. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1995.
Eleanore enjoyed volunteering at Saginaw General Hospital for 40 years and golfing at Maple Hill Golf Course. She was very active in doing several facets for her church, St. Dominic’s Catholic Church- St. Peter and Paul site.
Eleanore is survived by her children; Richard (Shelly) Crannell, Barbara Strange, Patricia Crannell and Gregory (Carol) Crannell, grandchildren; John, Annie, Dana, Scott, Sean, Phillip, Brandon and Bryan, great-grandchildren; Mari, Max and Henry and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband “Crash”, Eleanore was preceded in death by a son; Thomas, granddaughter; Kelly and 6 brothers and sisters.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 12:00 PM from St. Dominic’s Catholic Church-St. Stephen’s Site. Fr. Jack Johnson will officiate. Committal services to follow at Oakwood Mausoleum.

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Location Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw. She was 75 years old. Brenda Joyce Inskeep was born on May 25, 1948 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John and Mary (Johnson) Inskeep. Brenda attended Arthur Hill High School in 1966. She was employed by AT&T as a Technical Specialist, retiring after 25 years of service.
Brenda loved crocheting. She also enjoyed crafting and decorating her house for the holidays. But, what Brenda really loved most was spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Gary (Renee) Burrill Jr. and Constance Schultz; grandchildren, Scott Schultz and Kortnee Schultz; one sister, Mary Pope; step-siblings, Tammy Jackowicz, John Inskeep Jr., and Nora Inskeep as well as many nieces and nephews.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Troupe.

Our beloved dad, son, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He was 39 years old. Terry Lee Witherell Jr. was born on November 6, 1984 in Owosso, Michigan to Terry and Norma Witherell. He attended Saginaw High School and then earned his mechanic certification. Terry proudly worked for Firestone on State Street. He was kind, generous, patient, and had a fierce love for his family. Terry had an impeccable way to make people laugh on their worst day. He found peace while he was hunting and fishing.
Survived by his cherished daughter, Lilly Wachowicz; fiancé, Melinda Dill; mother, Norma Witherell; siblings: Cathrine Hosler and her significant other, Jack Hosler, Teresa Holmes, Janet (fiancée, Donny Fisk Jr.) Witherell and Gene Witherell; Nephews Steven, Anthony, Malachi, Nicholas, Jordan, John and Jenson, Nieces Angel, Alyssa, Grace, Mily and Avya; two great-nieces Amyia and Ella and one great nephew Kaiden; grandfather, Jim Newvine. Terry was always adopting everyone around him, and was compassionate about animals, especially Diamond, Snuggles and Zeus.
Terry Jr. was preceded in death by two children Terry Witherell 3rd, Baby Witherell , his father, Terry Lee Witherell Sr.; niece, Harley-Ann Hosler; grandparents; Margaret and Clyde Searle, Great grandparents: Frank and Beulah Gross.

Paul G. Troup passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024 after a brief illness. He was 63 years old. Paul G. Troup was born on October 13, 1960 in Saginaw to the late Carol L. (Green) and Paul E. Troup. Paul was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, and he then earned his certification as an auto mechanic. He worked for Saginaw Township maintaining their equipment and vehicles for many years. Paul loved to bowl, drive his Corvettes and entering them into car shows, and bow hunting. Paul’s loving and kind spirit could be seen through the care given to the many dogs he raised throughout his life and his special bond with his granddaughter, Lennox.
Paul is survived by his partner, Patricia Yanna; children: John (Stefanie) Troup, Justin Troup and Brittany (Zabriel) Tolston; grandchildren: Peyton and Stella Troup and Lennox Yanna; sister, Heather (Brian) Leuenberger; nephew and niece: Brice and Morgan Leuenberger.
Paul’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Compassus Hospice for all of the care and support provided to Paul and the family.

Welsh, Ila passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024. She was born on October 7, 1924 to the late Albert and Ethel Purcell in Saginaw, MI. Ila graduated from Arthur Hill High School and worked for several years at Second National Bank in Saginaw. She married Erwin “Bud” Welsh on December 6, 1951 at Vassar United Methodist Church. They shared 52 years of marriage, he predeceased her on October 7, 2003.
Ila and Bud loved their family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent their retirement years enjoying their home in Mesa, Arizona in the winter and cottage at Murphy Lake in the summers. They lived in Vassar for many years, were members of the Vassar United Methodist Church, and had many close friends and family there as well as in Saginaw, Frankenmuth and Mesa. Ila was a wonderful cook and baker. She was also an avid card player and didn’t believe in letting the grandchildren win! She enjoyed knitting, rose gardens, travel and bird watching. In her later years, she took a sewing class through Vassar Community Education and went on to create many outfits for her grandchildren. Ila was a member of the Vassar and Frankenmuth United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing with the Bag Ladies mission group.
Left to celebrate her life are her daughter, Mary (Randy) Seabright, son, Kurt (Lori) Welsh, daughter, Laura (Brian) Lorenz; grandchildren, Sara Seabright, Annie (Kyle) Engelmann, Christopher (Tami) Welsh, Candice (Blaze) Panariso, Renee (Jared) Parham, Lynn (Christopher) VanDyke; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Purcell and many nieces and nephews.
Ila was preceded in death by infant son, Paul; brothers: Edwin, Albert, Bill and Dan Purcell; sisters-in-law: Margaret, Genevieve, Jane, Shirley, Ann and Delores; brother and sister-in-law: Glenn and Norma Jean Welsh; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Frank and Lola Guglietta, as well as her nephew, Russ Purcell.
FUNERAL: Committal and burial for Ila will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Riverside Cemetery, 5855 Frankenmuth Road, Vassar, MI 48768. Rev. Jerry Larkin will officiate.

Loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at his residence. He was 78 years old. Lawrence Izzo Leo was born on May 19, 1945 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Louis F. and Helen E. (Izzo) Leo. He married Vickie Mead in 1972 in Saginaw, Michigan at St. Helen Catholic Church. Larry attended St. Mary’s High School, graduating in 1963 and continued his education at Great Lakes Community College, earning an Associate Degree. He was employed by Eaton Corporation, retiring after 37 ½ years of service. Larry was a member of the Sons of Italy, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus for many years. He also volunteered for several years at the former St. Thomas Aquinas School.
Larry enjoyed playing cards. He also enjoyed golfing. What Larry really loved most of all, was going on Disney vacations with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie Leo; children, Jeffrey Leo and Gregory Leo; his grandchildren, whom lovingly referred to him as Papa, Jack, Lauryn, Eric, and Angelo; great-grandchildren, Eric Jr., Isabella, Camilla, and Alaya, and many nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo Leo.
PRIVATE MEMORIAL SERVICE: In keeping with Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Private Memorial Service will take place on Monday, March 18, 2024. Rev. Fr. Jack Johnson will officiate. Private burial will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on Tuesday evening, March 12, 2024 at his residence surrounded by close friends and family. He was 76 years old. Gary Allen Frost was born on October 12, 1947 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Allen and Marion (Link) Frost. He married the love of his life Carol Mikolaiczik on January 23, 1970 in Saginaw, Michigan.
He was a member of the first graduating class from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1965 and was close with a group of friends, who had breakfast club throughout their later years. He remained best friends with Ronald Hazen who was by his side until the end.
Gary took over the family business, Mannion Brothers Hardware. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a proud supporter of Saginaw semiprofessional hockey during his lifetime. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol; daughter Michelle; daughter, Stacey and her husband Ryan Adams and their children Ainsley, Regan and Barrett; sisters Carolyn, Barb (Don) Hull and Becky Frost. He is predeceased by his parents and brother.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: A Memorial Service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor David Naumann will officiate.

Betty M. Snyder - October 23, 1926 - March 11, 2024

Obituary Preview: Betty M. Snyder of Bay City, MI passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2024, in Sarasota, FL surrounded by family, and bouquets with her favorite yellow roses. She was 97 years young. Elizabeth "Betty" M. Pomerville was born on October 23, 1926 to the late Frank and Grace (Matthews) Pomerville. She married Frank V. (Bud) Snyder on Sept. 1, 1951 and was his loving companion for over 61 years. He predeceased her on April 23, 2013.
Betty graduated from Ss. Peter and Paul High School in Saginaw, MI. She enjoyed working as a secretary for many years at Webber Elementary and Saginaw High School. Frank and Betty moved to Decatur, AL. in 1978 where they became very active at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She was a member of Germania Club, a cherished birthday group, and longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas and St. John Vianney Catholic Churches. Betty loved gardening and over the years won recognition for her beautiful yards and also the grounds for St. Ann’s where she volunteered. In addition, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, snow birding in Florida, reading, watching old movies and reminiscing about her life and the “good ‘ole days”. She always looked her best and took great pride in the fact she enjoyed good health and a sharp mind until her passing at age 97. Betty made conversations with strangers wherever she went, quite often turning many of those “strangers” into lifelong friends.
Surviving are her two daughters, Karen (David) Malott of St. Charles and Sheri (Randy) Keene of Gladwin; five grandchildren: Lindsay Malott, Saginaw; Morgan Malott (Niv) Goldman, Alameda, CA; Coral (Nick) Lynch, Virginia Beach, VA; Casey (Marcia Zeiss) Keene, Midland, MI; Carson (Chihiro) Keene, Ann Arbor, MI; and two great-grandchildren Nio Keene and Simone Malott Goldman. She will be affectionately remembered as “Aunt Betty” by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2013, her son David F. Snyder in 2007, and four brothers and sisters; Donald, Frank, Eva (Horn) and Grace (Letherer).
A special acknowledgement to her many friends and neighbors for their friendship, help and support, especially Joe Martin. Per Bettys wishes her body has been donated to University of Florida, Orlando for medical research. Betty loved flowers and would be honored if you bought yourself a bouquet to enjoy in her memory. Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and dear friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old. Paul D. Black was born on April 9, 1942, in Alpena, Michigan, to the late Sebert and Harriet (O’Toole-Zirkle) Black. Paul graduated from Alpena High School in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Jean Byers, on June 10, 1961, celebrating 62 wonderful years together. Shortly after his high school graduation, he enlisted with the United States Army. Following boot camp, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He later moved to Fort Riley, Kansas, with the 1st Infantry Big Red One. While on maneuvers for Fort Riley, Paul taught at West Point. Paul was also assigned to the Airborne Division 8th Army in Bad Krueznach, Germany. While serving in Germany, he was selected to participate with the German Paratroopers Unit. Paul ended his active military career with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He proudly served with the United States Army for eight years and then continued his service with the Army National Guard as SFC for an additional 12 years. When Paul returned to Michigan in 1967, he served the Saginaw community as a Patrol Officer, also known for “walking the beat” for the City of Saginaw, retiring as Sergeant in 1994. During his years of service, he was a member of the first K-9 group, working with his fury partner Cody. Paul was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the American Legion Post #0439. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, harassing telemarketers, and spending time with his family making memories. One of his favorite roles was as a grandfather; teaching the kids to read, going on adventures, watching countless Disney movies and attending all of the kids’ activities.
Paul is survived by his wife, Bonnie Black; children: Jeffrey Black, Julie (Chris) Gunther and Debra (Doug) Bradford; grandchildren: Jennifer Black, Sarah (Jay) Mepham, Abigal (Matthew) Herriman, Seth Bradford, Anna Bradford and Lauren Bradford; great grandchildren: Lily Swift, Sydney and Juliana Mepham, Connor and Owen Herriman; brother, Albert (Maxine) Black; many nieces, nephews, extended and dear friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters: Judy (Frank) Timmreck and Loretta (Robert) West.
FUNERAL: A funeral service for Paul will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Bob Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024. Military honors under the auspices of the United States Army and V.F.W. Post #1859 will be held at the cemetery.

She was born on October 21, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of the late Joseph “Perry” and Cora (Rabedioux) Drouillard. Sharon was united in marriage to James R. Kleinfelder on June 15, 1963 at St. Mary Cathedral; he preceded her in death on February 2005. Sharon married Thomas Tarrant in Gladwin, Michigan on August 5, 2015; he survives her.
Sharon graduated from Saginaw High School in 1960. She worked in the medical field as a lab assistant for over 27 years. Sharon was a member of the Saginaw County Alter Society, and Secord Lake Eagles #4121. Sharon enjoyed animals and nature.
Sharon is survived by her husband; Thomas, her children; Jim (Teresa) Kleinfelder and Deborah Johnson, three grandchildren; Brent and Alison Kleinfelder, Justin Johnson and step daughter; Wendy (Matt Reifer) Tarrant. Besides her parents and husband James, Sharon was preceded in death by a sister; Annette Falkenhagen.

Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at his residence. He was 95 years old. Edward Jack Brettrager was born on April 20, 1928 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Bechtel) Brettrager. He married Lucile Gushen on January 17, 1948 in Saginaw, Michigan at Holy Family Catholic Church. They celebrated 76 years together. Ed owned and operated Spaulding Machine and Spaulding MFG Inc. He was a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau and Holy Family Catholic Church for many years.
Ed will be remembered as a hard worker. He loved farming and always said that he enjoyed watching the corn grow. But, what Ed really loved most was being with his family.
Surviving is his wife, Lucile Brettrager; children, Karen (Partner Rod Green) Moore, Gary (Dawn) Brettrager, of Palmer, Alaska, and Linda (Robert) Kwapis; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Brettrager, Elizabeth Fortier, Theresa Stanulis, Henry Brettrager, Eleanor Hart, Norman Brettrager, and Donald Brettrager.
FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Rev. Fr. Robert Byrne will officiate. A committal service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Saginaw.

Barbara Lee Cherry was born on December 6, 1931 in Zilwaukee, Michigan to the late John C. and Wilhelmina “Minnie” Louise (Blohm) Cherry. Barb graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary. She married Frederick W. Bauer on October 8, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Zilwaukee. They celebrated 68 years of marriage together creating many wonderful memories. Throughout Barb’s life she worked for Morley Brothers, Farm Bureau Elevator and Bethlehem Lutheran Church as their secretary. She volunteered at Covenant Hospital, Meals on Wheels and various positions at the church. Baking, cooking, sewing, gardening, knitting, card clubs, and watching her grandchildren’s sporting events always brought great joy to her heart.
Barb is survived by her husband, Fred Bauer; children: Fred (Ellen) Bauer, LouAnne (Don) Yurgens and Beth Bauer; grandchildren: Addie Bauer, Marta (Chris) Pethke, Russell (Leah) Bauer, Freddie Bauer, Natalie (Steven) Schaeff, Maureen (Christian) Bialek, Mikaela (Nathan) Green and Derrick Yurgens; great grandchildren: August and Benjamin Bauer, Franklin Schaeff, Hayes Bialek, Baby Pethke and Baby Green are soon to be expected; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Elaine Stoick, Delores Bauer, Sue Bauer, Judy and Fred Kern; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Joe was born August 1, 1959 in New Orleans, LA the son of the late Anthony and Kathy (Camp) Corroa. Joe honorably served in the United States Army and then retired from the United States Airforce after almost 20 years. He was united marriage to Mary Durbin on September 21, 2007 in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2024.
Joe loved camping, cooking, riding his bike, watching football and traveling. But most of all Joe loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his children; Joseph (Maria) Corroa Jr., Dustin (Christa) Corroa and Britnee (Mason) Dunn, seven grandchildren; Alivia, Marion, Adalynn, Christian, Castor, Aiden and Regina, mother in-law; Palma “Pam” Durbin, sisters and brothers; Anthony (Jeanine) Corroa, Michael Corroa, Cathy (Randy) Martin, Carol (Carey) Graham, Christine (Tony) Williams and Angela and several nieces and nephews. Our great husband, step-father, papa, brother and dear friend passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024 surrounded by his wife and family at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehab. He was 73 years old. Zenon Edward Kowalewski was born on December 23, 1950 in Germany to the late Janina “Janet” (Ludwiczak) and Franciszek “Frank” Kowalewski. When he was infant, his parents traveled by boat, where he celebrated his 1st birthday, and immigrated into the United States. As a young boy his family moved to Saginaw, attending St. Josaphat’s grade school and then graduating from Carrollton High School in 1969. After high school, Ed started working for General Motors, until his retirement 30 years later. In retirement Ed loved to golf, driving bus, and refereeing basketball and baseball. He married Mary (Deeg) Vescio on December 1, 2000. He was a faithful member St. John Paul II Parish – St. Josaphat Catholic Church and St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church.
Ed is survived by his wife, Mary; his step-son, Nicholas T. (Nicole) Vescio; grandson, Collin Vescio; siblings: Matthew Kowalewski, Edith Kowalewski and her very special friend, Beth Mueller, John (Debbie) Kowalewski and Steve (Alicia) Kowalewski; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Nancy (David Lyman) Parker and Karen (Mike) Buse; God-son, Eric (Vicki) Kowalewski; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends, especially John and Sue Oczepek and Ralph and Connie Gnotek.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Robin Kowalewski; and his nephew, Steven Kyle Kowalewski.

Helen was a kind and caring person and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Thomas A. Egleston. She is survived by her children, Brian (Patricia) Egleston, Ann (Rob) Vermeer and Laura Hill. She had eight grandchildren, Kathryn (Alexander) Inzer; Matthew Egleston (Maryana Sawaged); Shannon Egleston; Sarah and Jack Ombry; and Emma, Kelsey and Meghan Hill. She had two great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Payson Inzer. She is also survived by her partner, Ronald Rose. She had five siblings, Kathleen (Richard) Stevens, Mary P. Siler, Joan Slimocosky, Jan (Joe) Reitz, John J. (Sue) Ryan Jr., and many nieces and nephews.

Beloved father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024, at Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Florida. He was 92 years old. James Robert Sullivan was born on February 7, 1932, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late William and Helen (Kostrzewa) Sullivan. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Cathedral, class of 1950. James married Rita Jankowski on February 16, 1952, and was blessed with 49 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2001. James then married Joan Reimer-Spence in 2002; the two enjoyed 17 years together, she preceded him in death on October 14, 2020.
Along with his brothers, Richard, William and Patrick, James was an owner and operator of the family’s restaurant, Sullivan’s, until his retirement. James was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville, MI for many years. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Greenbush, MI, Au Gres, MI and his condo in Venice, FL, he also loved helping others. But what James really loved most was spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are five children: Daniel (Virginia) Sullivan of Chandler, AZ, Terrance (Jill) Sullivan of Venice FL, Michael (Pearl) Sullivan of Houston, TX, Bradley Sullivan of Jacksonville, FL, Christopher (Kirsten) Sullivan of Palmetto, FL. 11 grandchildren: Aaron Sullivan, Matt (Julia) Sullivan, Jordan (Aery) Sullivan, Joshua Sullivan, Kaitlyn (Jacob) Diaz, Adam (Gloria) Sullivan, Eric Sullivan, Nikki (Travis) Trembath, Sydney (Aundrey) Jackson, Danielle Sullivan, Lovely Joy Gabayan: 16 great-grandchildren: two sisters and one brother, Maureen (Patrick) Brady, Suzanne Sevo, Patrick (Hanny) Sullivan and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
James was preceded in death by his son, James R. “Gus” Sullivan Jr, his daughter, Maureen O’Neill, brothers Richard Sullivan and William Sullivan.

Jesus was born on June 17, 1947 in Saginaw, MI the son of Faustino and Ruperta (Gonzales) Torrez. He was united in marriage to Donna Mopavich on August 22, 1987; she survives him.
Jesus enjoyed drawing, singing the oldies, his chickens and rooster and tending to his garden. But most of all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Jesus will always be remembered for his big heart. He was always giving his harvest to everyone. Jesus was known to help anyone out that he could.
Jesus is survived by his loving wife, Donna (aka baby Huey by Jesus); his children; Marcos (Celia) Gomez, Jesus “Jay” Torrez and Jessica Torrez, grandchildren; Sylvia Gomez, Rafael Torrez, Jesus “Jay” Torrez, Ellieanna Torrez, Jaylah Torrez, Emiliano Torrez, Gino Torrez, Gabriel Gomez, Julian Torrez, Mia Gomez, Gino Torrez, Neveah Torrez and a grandson on the way, Luciano Torrez, a great-grandson due in April; Luca Gomez; siblings, Ricardo Torrez, Francisco (Lorraine) Torrez, Faustino (Maria Teresa) Torrez Jr., Consuelo (Roberto) Flores, Anita (Paulo) Rodriguez; sister in-law Sue Torrez, and many nieces and nephews.
Jesus was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, Daniel Torrez, Guadalupe Martinez, Ofelia (John) Elizalde, and Maria Elena Torrez.

She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Keith Hammis on May 10, 1952 in Zilwaukee, MI; he preceded her in death on December 7, 2018.
Patricia was a member of St. Dominic Parish in Saginaw and Christ the King-St.Francis de Sales Parish in Lakeview, Michigan. She will always be remembered for her strong faith; and made sure to share her faith with her family. Patricia enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, rides on the pontoon around Townline Lake and watching her birds. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and the large family meals; everyone was always welcomed to her table. The grandchildren will always remember bringing their friends to grandma and grandpa’s house to show them what our family gatherings looked like.
Our family would like to give a special “Thank you” to Jeanne for her faithful love and care of mom. Jeanne, Ed and mom were the 3 Musketeers who spent countless hours together. Also, a special “Thank you” to Hospice of Michigan for their wonderful care.
Patricia is survived by her children; Regina (Edward) Napierala, Debra (Robert) Cherry, Pamela (Daniel) Wolpert, Marcia (Michael) Wolohan, Keith (Connie) Hammis, Michael (Lori) Hammis and Vicky Hammis, 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Marjorie Schrems.
Besides her husband Keith, Patricia was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Hammis, great-granddaughter, Edie Grace Williams and three sisters, Sally Ray, Maisie Rapp and Arlene Schramm.
FUNERAL: The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024 at St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd.(off State) on Sunday, February 18, from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. A Vigil service will take place at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024, in Warren, Michigan. Mother lived to 100 years of age. We were so fortunate to have her in our lives for so long. Abelina was born on March 24, 1923, in San Benito, Texas, the daughter of Teodoro and Gregoria (Villareal) DeLeon. She was married to Raul Huerta who preceded her in death on December 6, 2018. Mother lived in California for several years. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mother loved the outdoors and nature. She often said that Carmel, California was her paradise. She hiked the trails of Yosemite National Park and Lake Tahoe. Mother loved to garden and plant flowers. Mother was loved by so many people. Most of all she loved her children, (20) grandchildren & (20) great- grandchildren and (5) great-great grandchildren.
Surviving children: Refugio (Elida) Maza, Norma Huerta-Pena, Raul (Raquel) Huerta Jr., Roberto (Maria) Huerta, Frances (Myron) Huerta-Backhaus, Roxanna (Nick) Huerta-Issa. Surviving sisters and brothers are San Juana Rodriguez, Stella Lucio and Olivia De La Garza. Gilbert (Chris) DeLeon and Ramiro DeLeon. And many nieces and nephews.
Abelina was preceded in death by her husband Raul Huerta, parents, sisters, Maria Dora Huerta, Ameli Ybarra, Ofelia DeLeon. Three brothers, Tony DeLeon, Ted De Leon Jr. and Samuel DeLeon.
Funeral Service: Funeral Liturgy for Abelina will take place on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Saginaw, MI 48601. Entombment to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Our loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024. She was 87 years old. Joanne Alma Ott was born on February 9, 1937 in Saginaw to the late Phillip and Mildred (Schumacher) Ott. She graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of 1955. Joanne married Dale A. Reetz on February 11, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Saginaw. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and serving on the Altar Guild and Walther League. She continued following the Lutheran faith with membership at Redeemer and Bethlehem. Joanne worked in retail sales throughout her life and she made many friends while working. In her spare time she was a member of the Red Hats, took frequent trips to the casino, visited Las Vegas, played cards, bowled, watching the Detroit Lions and cheered them on at their games as a season ticket holder for many years and traveled to away games. Joanne’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren play sports and participate in school events.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Dale Reetz; children: Lori (Dan Dijak) Reetz, Greg (Mary) Reetz, Scott (Kim) Reetz and Cheryl Reetz; grandchildren: Rachel (Jordan) Miller, D.J. (Stephanie) Reetz, Sabrina Reetz, Evan Reetz and Jaden Gross; great grandchildren: Jackson and Mac Miller and Ellie Reetz; sister-in-law, Carol Ott; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends, especially Marlene King, her faithful friend for 75 years.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ken Ott.
