Ruth was known as Mom, Grandma, Gramma, Gram, Ruffers, Ruthie and GiGi depending on which part of the country her family was from. She wore those endearing names well and truly loved her family. At Grace Village she was known by some as "The Cookie Monster" as she had a voracious sweet tooth in her latter years.
In her working years, Ruth served the public as a food server and grocery deli clerk.
Her interests were reading and knitting until she could no longer do either activity at the age of 97.
Ruthie was full of feistiness and was fun-loving up until her last few days. She had a generous spirit.
Ruth has lived in the Buffalo and Arcade, New York area, Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Bourbon, Indiana.

Jay Anthony Montalbano - August 28, 1965 - March 15, 2024

Departed: 03/15/2024 (Bourbon)
Obituary Preview: It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather, Jay Anthony Montalbano, who left this world unexpectedly March 15, 2024, due to a short illness.
A friend to many, Jay passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana, at the age of 58. He was born in Plymouth, Indiana on August 28, 1965, to his parents, Ben and Pauline Montalbano.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jill Stine Montalbano, and their children, Ericka Hudson, Jessica (Bryon) Overmeyer, and Ben (Brea) Montalbano. Jay was a beloved Papa to 9 grandchildren, Jacob (17), Jayden (16), Tatum (14), Aimee-Grace (11), Dallas (10), Carson (7), Cameron (6), Callan (3), and Caden (6wks), his parents, Ben and Pauline Montalbano of Greeneville, Tennessee, and sister, Kathy (Brian) Koontz of Plymouth, Indiana.
Jay was blessed with In-laws, Larry and Aimee Ross of Bourbon, Indiana, Ed and Gloricella Stine of Marana, Arizona, Jeff (Michelle) Stine of Tucson, Arizona, and Phil (Joann) Stine of Saddlebrooke, Arizona. Jay would often joke about his next-door neighbors, Larry and Aimee, “only 32 steps away from the best cooking in the world”.
Jay worked for UPS for nearly 40 years. During this long career he developed relationships with clients who looked forward to greeting Jay with each package he delivered. Clients that entrusted him with key codes to leaving packages in safe places in their homes and businesses. He was emblematic of the UPS motto, “make a difference in the communities we serve.” Jay certainly did that during his tenure at UPS. He will be sorely missed.
The 2 loves of Jay’s life were sports and his beautiful wife, Jill. They met while Jill was living in Arizona while visiting her family in Indiana. It wasn’t long before Jill announced to her Arizona family that she was packing her bags and moving to Indiana. They were married shortly thereafter.
Jay rarely missed his grandchildren’s sporting events who were never surprised to see their devoted Papa in the stands to support and cheer them on. He was dearly loved by his grandchildren.
He and Jill loved to go back each year to visit family and good friends in Arizona, but especially loved their time going to Jellystone in their camper. They just loved spending their time off work being together with family and friends, wherever that took them. The family would love for memorial attendees to honor Jay by wearing the colors of his favorite team, Notre Dame, in blue, gold, and green. Jay never missed a Notre Dame Football game. He was a devoted fan!
A Celebration of Life and Bano’s Retirement Party will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Berkey’s Shop, 409 W. Old US 30, Bourbon, Indiana 46504.

Noah Scott Henkle - August 25, 1999 - December 25, 2023

Departed: 12/25/2023 (Bourbon)
Obituary Preview: Noah Scott Henkle, age 24 of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 in Tippecanoe, Indiana.
Noah was born to Randall and Kelly (Bessinger) Henkle on August 25, 1999 in Springfield, Missouri. He was a resident of Springfield all his life. He graduated from Central High School with honors and attended Missouri State University.
Noah was loved by so many people, and he knew how special he was to all of us. He was shy, but when he let you in, you got all of him. He was so clever, witty, and funny - which made bantering with him the best. Bantering is our family’s love language, and he was excellent at it. He would say something so unexpected, and we’d crack up laughing. And when he really got going, he’d have this high pitch laugh that would make you laugh too.
Having his own struggles, Noah was extremely empathetic towards others. It would pain him to see anyone having their own troubles or misfortunes. He had passionate views about social causes and politics. The plight of the oppressed would keep him up at night and he felt very strongly about what is right and what is wrong.
He was a kind and caring person. He loved all animals, but he especially adored cats. He loved getting head boops from his cat Millie and her curling up next to him at night.
He was very intelligent and excelled in school, graduating with honors. He worked hard in all his IB classes and was really proud of himself, as we all were. He was also an exceptional writer and especially enjoyed his journalism classes.
Noah always made sure there was a plan for food. He would be eating breakfast and at the same time would be planning lunch. He enjoyed food, but for him the more important part was the social aspect of it and getting to enjoy it with people he loved.
One of his favorite things was playing board games and he had that Bessinger competitive spirit in him. This was another way he loved to spend quality time with people. He also really enjoyed sports. When he was younger, he was obsessed with the Boston Red Sox and David Ortiz. Noah even played several seasons with the Miracle League. Earlier this year, he had a lot of fun competing in our March Madness family pool. He enjoyed video gaming, debating all kinds of topics and watching streamers on Twitch.
Noah is survived by his father, Randall Henkle of Springfield, MO; his sisters: Chelsea Henkle and her son, Chase Rolland of Davenport, FL; Shauna Henkle of Denver, CO; his grandmother, Betty Bessinger of Tippecanoe, IN; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved pets Millie, Sadie and Ruby.
Noah was preceded in death by his mother, Kelly on November 12, 2022; his grandfather, Wayne Bessinger; and his paternal grandparents, Scott and Norma Jean Henkle.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Noah’s name to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (1012 14th Street NW, Washington, DC 20005 or www.parentprojectmd.org).
Thank you to all our friends and community for your support during this difficult time.
