Obituary Preview: Owen S. Davidson 1940 ~ 2022 Owen Strom Davidson, age 81, passed away suddenly on April 19, 2022, after several years of declining health. Owen was born on May 11, 1940, in Alliance, Ohio, and is survived by his beloved sons Jerry of Alliance and Jamie (Mary) of Sebring, grandson Josh, brother Tom, and many sisters-and brothers-in law, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Cher and parents Gerald and Evelyn. Owen graduated from Alliance High School and worked for many years as a tool and die sinker at Transue & Williams. But he was happiest when he was mowing the grass, camping, using his hands to fix almost anything, and passing on his skills and wisdom to his sons and nephews and nieces, whose lives he influenced in so many important, positive ways. Owen had a heart of pure gold and was dad to many of his extended family, blessing them with his love and loyalty through the years. For over 25 summers Owen and his family enjoyed camping and boating at Westville Lake. They were often joined by extended family and friends for many happy times that are still talked about with love and cherished in memory. A celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 5 to 7 pm at Dean’s Funeral Home in Sebring, Ohio, with Owen’s brother-in-law Jim officiating. Dean’s Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements. We would love our family and friends to join us for this time together. A brief graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm at Mount Union Cemetery in Alliance. Obituary Preview: Richard “Ricky” Carl Carpenter, 44, passed away of natural causes unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, April 13th 2022. He was born on February 6th, 1978 in Alliance, Ohio. He is the son of Richard E. Carpenter and LuAnn Wright. Ricky grew up in Beloit, Ohio and attended West Branch and Southern Local Schools. He then graduated from the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois. He was aboard the U.S.S. Roosevelt- which set the record for most days at sea, 160 days. Ricky lived his life to the fullest and was the life of the party. He fiercely loved his family, friends, animals, and anything outdoorsy. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. He enjoyed concerts with his longtime friend of 30 years, Dathan Hunt. He will be greatly missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and his huge personality. Ricky is survived by his Mother, LuAnn Wright, and Father, Richard Carpenter; son Colin; sisters Melissa Brown (John DeSarro) and Lory Smith (Mike Smith); nieces Brianna and Makenzy; nephews James, Colton, and Brayden; great nephew Jhett, and two dogs Popeye and Lucy. He was a graduate of Alliance High School. He enjoyed deer and duck hunting and spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed raising deer, gardening, auctions, antique cars, and going to Cabalas. He was also known to have an ornery streak. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife: Marylou (Hutter) Glover. Daughter: Christine Steed. Sons: Douglas (Kimberly) Glover, and Thomas (Peggy) Stoffer. Brother: Donald (Ching-Sun) Glover, nephew Samuel Glover, Grandchildren: Mychal, Brandon, Jordon, Ashton, Aaron, Tristan, and Gracie. Great- Grandchildren: Thomas, Owen and Everly.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Glover, and son, Brian Glover. Joan was born August 25, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Richard Pennybaker and Mildred Boyce. Joan was a graduate of Alliance High School in 1966. She was happily married to the love of her life, John, for 57 years. Joan enjoyed life as a homemaker and had two sons, John and Todd. She had a talent for expressing her heart and reading scripture was a comfort for her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband John, son Todd, grandson Todd Skyler, brother-in-law Gary, sister-in-law Kimberly and David and family brother Richard, and extended family. Joan joins her parents, her son John Scott, sister Janice, brother Jim, and nephew Paul in Heaven.
A graveside service will be held Friday April 22, 2022, at 1pm at Mount Union Cemetery with Chaplain Jody Hill Officiating. Mr. Gary W. Coats, 66 of Alliance, Father, beloved Son, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 05, 2022.
Gary was born on July 10, 1955, in Jachin, Alabama to George and Ruby Coats. He graduated from Alliance High and attended Kent State University. He was a Certified Welder (CW), and an Amateur turned Professional Boxer, winning various awards, belts and trophies. He was known in the boxing world as Cyclone Coats, having the strongest chin in his weight class (Junior Middleweight). He loved most sports; participating in football and wrestling while in high school.
He also loved to watch a good basketball or football game on tv.
Gary enjoyed sitting in the back yard entertaining friends and playing with his dogs who were so dear to his heart. He had some of the best jokes and found it easy to laugh. He led a simple and peaceful life and would make himself available to anyone in need of a helping hand, without hesitation.
He worked at American Steel Foundries and various other jobs around the city, his jfavorite hobby was handling training, and playing with his dogs.
Family left to cherish his memory are his Mother, Ruby Coats; Sisters, Dyanna (Bishop Nick) Myers; Georgia Coats and Patricia Coats all of Alliance, Ohio. Children, Erick Hawkins, Michelle Hawkins, Michael Lawson, five (5) grandchildren, numerous nieces/nephews, great-nieces/ nephews, one great-great nephew, and many cousins and friends.
He is predeceased by his Father, George W. Coats; Sister, Barbara Ray; Cousin, Willie Hicks; and Niece, Iris Ray.
A Celebration Of Life Service will be held at Temple Of Faith Church Of God In Christ located at 1221 East Patterson Street Alliance, Ohio 44601 Viewing is Friday April 15, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. A Celebration of Life Service is at 12:00 noon. The family will receive guests approximately one hour prior to the service.
Services will be officiated by Elder Dr. Nick Myers III. The Eulogy, Bishop Dr. Nick H. Myers Jr. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dean’s Funeral Home 256 W. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Miller. Charles worked at A-1 Auto for over 40 years. He was an avid Harley rider. He also was an avid pool player and was well respected throughout the pool community. His other hobbies included singing Karaoke and being the DJ at the Crystal Lounge. Deanna was an assistant Pastor at Abiding Grace Church in Sebring. She enjoyed taking photos, visiting the Colorado mountains, and the Ocean. Her favorite flowers were roses and lilac bushes. She had an abundant love for her family especially her grandchildren. Services will take place Thursday March 24th at The Abiding Grace Church, 296 N. 15th Church in Sebring from 4-5pm. She took care of her family and helped those in need. She enjoyed feeding the birds, deer, raccoons, cats and other creatures that visited her at her home. She loved garage sales and finding bargains, taking rides in the country, cooking, and eating. She attended Southside Church of God in Alliance.     Per her request, there will be no formal services. Those who wish to honor her life could best do so by performing a kind deed for someone in their life, feeding the birds, or helping unfortunate animals in their community. Sons: Justin Charles Ward, Jonathan Augustine, and Billy Kidd III. Grandchildren; Johnny Bruce Jr., Anthony Smith, Scott Kidd, Sierra Kidd, Nathan Cunningham, Madison Kidd, Jospeh Smith, Katilyn Cunningham, Creola Lovell, Cameron Ciotti, and Jordan Augustine. Great Grandchildren; Leonna Berry, Summer Berry, Kalob Hannum II, and a large extended family and many friends. Charles enjoyed time outside; gardening, taking care of chickens, fishing, and bike riding. He liked to listen to rock and roll music on the radio. He had the gift to gab and talk to people. The most important part of his life was his grandkids who referred to him as Papaw and Grandpa. He enjoyed playing with them in the mud, wrestling on the ground and they have so many memories of him giving his time to be with him. Delbert (Red) Stowe, age 88, of Sebring went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 28th, 2022, surrounded by his family. Red was the husband of Carol A. (Ross) Stowe whom he married June 9th, 1990. He was born in Berlin Center, Ohio on September 17th, 1933, to the late Rance and Carol (Fern) Stowe. A graduate of Sebring High School in 1953. He went to serve in the United States Army and the Ohio National Guard. Red held numerous jobs throughout his lifetime including owning his own flower shop and working maintenance at Roker nursing home and Liberty Heights apartments. Red enjoyed making grave blankets and pillows. Red's favorite passion was going fishing and having an annual fish fry for his family and friends. Red is survived by his wife Carol, three daughters: Linda Sue Ward and Beth Lanham of Alabama and Bonnie (Lewis) McElwain of Florida. Three stepdaughters Pamela (Steven) Cooper of Minerva, Kimberly Tennant of Minerva, Theresa (Steven) Hall of Massillon, 1 stepson: Kevin (Debbie) Riddell of Alliance. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 1 brother, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, and 3 nephews. A memorial gathering will be held Friday March 4, 2022, at Dean's Funeral Home in Sebring followed by a Funeral Service at 6pm. Friends and family may share their online condolences at www.deansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home Sebring, Ohio.
