Fletcher Ross Holloman - July 27, 1939 - March 27, 2022

Departed: 03/27/2022 (Rocky Mount)
Obituary Preview: Rocky Mount -
Fletcher Ross Holloman, age 82, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Nash UNC Hospital. He was born in Edgecombe County on July 27, 2022 to Jessie and Mable Peele Holloman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ross Holloman; brother, William Holloman; sister, Thelma Carstens; three half-brothers and one half-sister.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Worrell Holloman of Rocky Mount; children, Laura Holloman Debroux (Michael) of Rocky Mount and Kelly Holloman (Renee) of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Nicole Debroux, Michael Holloman, Jr., Jeremy (Lauren), Jessie, Kelsey, Kally, Jacob, and Luke Holloman; great-grandchildren, Elijah Debroux, Snow, Sky, and Audrey  Holloman; and several special friends of his grandchildren that he considered family, too. Fletcher loved Jesus and his family more than anything.  As a man in his mid 50s, he became a follower of Jesus and his love for his family and others grew even stronger than we ever thought possible. He could build, fix, and grow just about anything. He passed on those mechanical and agricultural skills to his children and grandchildren. Fletcher loved to have a garden with just a few rows (more like 40) of red potatoes along with tomatoes, cucumbers, snaps, butterbeans, beets and whatever else Peggy could talk him into setting out.  He was also well-known in the community for his wonderful collards at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The love he showed to his family wasn't your typical words of "I love you", but rather a love shown through his actions to each of us.  Peggy could always get a kiss out of him, followed by a "go on please", but he would do and give her and any of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren anything they needed.  Fletcher was the epitome of a man who worked hard all the time and did not know when to stop.  When he did start to slow down he put the ones he loved the most to work to make sure it was "done right!"  We can happily say that our beloved Fletcher, Daddy, Papa is rejoicing in heaven today waiting for the rest of his loved ones and friends to join him "On Heaven's Bright Shore."
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 1:00pm at Oakdale Baptist Church, 13037 US Highway 64 Alt W, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
While flowers are appreciated, you may also consider donations in Fletcher's memory to Oakdale Baptist Church, 13037 US Highway 64 Alt W, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
