Obituary Preview: Funeral services for Harry R. Bathurst, 95, of Willoughby Hills, will be at 10 AM Friday, May 3, 2024 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.
Family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Harry passed away April 23, 2024 in Mentor. He was born October 17, 1928 in Blair County, Pennsylvania.
Harry worked in the engine room on an ore freighter prior to proudly serving in the U.S. Army. He went on to be a maintenance electrician at Lincoln Electric for 36 years, retiring in 1997.
Survivors include his children, Craig (Marilyn) Bathurst, Keelyann Bathurst, and Steven (Fanny) Bathurst; granddaughter, Christie (Dean) Bossler. He also leaves behind step-children and step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris and his second wife, Dorothy. His granddaughter, Melissa Bathurst and siblings, Alice, Grace, Alton, and Peggy are also deceased.
Final resting place will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park in Mayfield Village. In honor of his granddaughter, Melissa, family suggests contributions be made to Gift of Life Donor Program, www.donors1.org

Katherine Grace Nelson - May 19, 1946 - April 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Katherine G. Nelson, age 77, formerly of Eastlake, passed away quietly Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the home of her niece, Dawn Fenton, in Springboro, PA, where she had been residing due to a fall in Florida in 2020.
Katherine was born on May 19, 1946 in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Robert and Grace (Miller) Nelson. Katherine loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping at many different campgrounds. She was a long-time resident camper of the Jellystone Campground and Resort in Aurora, where she worked helping run the putt putt course and the ceramic craft area, as well as camping at the Panther’s Walk RV Park in Naple, Florida. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, card games with her friends, and she was a huge fan of the Muppets and Kermit the Frog. She also enjoyed all the Disney characters. Katherine was very fond of her dogs. Since she never had children of her own, her nieces and nephews and dogs were her life. She loved them all. When Katherine was living in Eastlake, she was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church where she helped as a “Sunday Greeter.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Bud” Nelson, Jr. and her niece, Anna Nelson.
She is survived by her sister, Deborah (Bill) Knoch of Eastlake and her brother, William “Bill” (Debbie Waters Nelson) Nelson of Taccoa, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 AM Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Willoughby Memorial Gardens, 38660 Lakeshore Boulevard, Willoughby. The Reverend Dr. Margaret N.B. Streiff will be officiating.

Obituary Preview: Antoinette M. Sagal, 80 of Mentor, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 20, 2024. Antoinette was born to Connie Bossone and Anthony Gallina in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a loving wife, married 50 years this year and lived for her children. She enjoyed trips to Disney World, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Branson and Gatlinburg with her family and friends. The holidays with her family, especially Christmas, were her absolute favorite times of the year. She also enjoyed going out to eat with her husband and friends and attending many musicals and plays. Antoinette was a long-time member of
Christian Assembly Church and a devoted member of her prayer group. Preceded in death by her father, Anthony Gallina and mother, Connie (Bossone) and brother, Mario Gallina. Left to miss her include beloved husband, John S. Sagal; daughters, Marie Bryant (Dan) and Connie Tutolo (Mike); sons, Teddy Robinson and John A. Sagal (Jessica); adored grandchildren, Joshua Bryant (Tessa), Michael Tutolo, Anthony Tutolo, Austin Robinson, Collin Robinson, Brandon Robinson, and Alyssa Robinson; great-grandchildren, Carson Robinson and Caiden Robinson. She also leaves
behind many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-7:30 PM Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 11:30am on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Mentor Municipal Cemetery (Section 32), 6881 Hopkins Rd. Mentor, OH 44060. Please meet at the grave.
There will be a Celebration of Life luncheon following the graveside service at LaVera Party Center, 32200 Chardon Rd., Willoughby at 12:30 PM. All are welcome.

The family will receive friends from 11 AM until noon on Saturday, prior to the service, at the Church. The family would like to invite everyone to join them for a luncheon in the Church Community Room directly after the service.
Suzanne passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Vista Springs Quail Highlands in Concord Township.
Born January 14, 1947 in Blue Island, IL and raised in Cincinnati Ohio, she has lived in Concord Township for the past 3 years, returning to Ohio from the Nashville, TN area where she lived for 21 years.
Suzanne was a devoted member of Shore Haven Lutheran Church. Her faith meant so much to her and gave her a great deal of comfort.
Suzanne was employed as a librarian at various libraries in Cincinnati, Northeast Ohio and Tennesee. She enjoyed her career and the many people she met along the way. Suzanne loved to learn from and talk to everyone.
Her other interests and hobbies included reading, her pet cats, garage and thrift shopping and visiting with her family and friends whenever possible.
Survivors are her husband of 41 years, Danny L. Sankey; children, Dawn Simmons (Scott Simmons); Danny Sankey Jr (Kimberly Carignan) grandchildren Jonathan Simmons, Abigail Trombly, Benjamin Trombly and Ethan Simmons; siblings Phil Courtier (Susan), Roger Courtier (Fannie) and Debra Becht (Ray). She also leaves her son-in-law, (Clint Trombly) and her many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jennifer Ann Trombly; her mother, Viola (Maleske) Courtier and her father Edward W. Courtier as well as her aunt Kirk Polking. Suzanne took loving care of both her mother and aunt in their last years of life.

Obituary Preview: John Emery McGiffin, of Auburn Township, passed away peacefully with loved ones at his side on April 7, 2024, after a sudden decline in health related to a long and valiant battle with heart disease.
John is survived by his wife, Kimberly: sons, Neil and Scott; mother, Katherine; siblings, Paula and Dale, and his canine best buddy, Forrest, who he took everywhere.
He was preceded in death by his father, William, and brother, William.
John was born at Euclid Hospital on February 9, 1957, and grew up in a loving home in Mentor, Ohio. After graduating from Mentor High school in 1975, he quickly pursued his passion for aviation, a tribute to his father who served as a decorated bomber pilot in World War II. John made a career flying Cessna Citations for Corporate Wings, Gulfstreams and Learjets for Parker Hannifin, and could identify any aircraft in the sky by its contrails.
He loved to cook, a joy he shared with his wife, was an aficionado with burgers on the grill and ribs in the smoker, and had a knack for making friends at the grocery store. He will be remembered for his encyclopedic knowledge of 60s and 70s classic rock records that he would blast at the expense of eardrums everywhere, as an unofficial Jeopardy grand champion with inexplicable knowledge of the world and history, and as a generous soul who spoiled his boys on Christmas.

Lorelle passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born June 11, 1958 in Euclid.
Lorelle was a 1976 graduate of Euclid High School. She owned Aetna Services and spent her life raising children and animals. She loved fishing, gardening, bird watching, and being outdoors.
Survivors include her husband, Gary McElwain; children, David (Brittany) Dalton, Daniel (Tina) Dalton, Joseph (Noelle Maiorana) Severini, Shanley Calabrace, Elianna Calabrace, Saverio Calabrace, Summer Zhu, and Jen Jen Zhu; grandchildren, Dylan Dalton, Cillian Dalton, Andrew Dalton, and Abel Dalton; sister, Sandra (David) Nar; brother, Gary Calabrace; grand-dogs, Skippy, Beatrice and Zooey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Sally (McCall) Calabrace and her brother, Richard Calabrace Jr.
Burial will be at 10 AM on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Mentor Cemetery (Section 25), 6881 Hopkins Road, Mentor.

Nora D. Kieser - January 16, 1934 - March 21, 2024

Mrs. Kieser passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born January 16, 1934 in Berea, she was raised in Ashtabula, then lived in Kirtland for 48 years before moving to Willoughby four years ago.
She was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, and was privileged to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York with the choir. She was a world traveler and longtime volunteer at the Holden Arboretum; Nora enjoyed golfing and participated in the Lost Nation Belles golf league and painting at the Kirtland Public Library.
She was a graduate of Kent State University, class of 1956, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture and later took additional classes at Lakeland Community College, John Carroll University, Lake Erie College and Cleveland State University.
Mrs. Kieser was employed as clerk for the Lake County Department of Human Services and as a caseworker for Lake County Bureau of Support; she also had worked as teller and new accounts representative at the former BankOne and as substitute teacher in various Lake and Geauga County school districts. She also assisted her husband in the operation of his insurance business, Grand Valley Insurance Agency in Mentor.
Survivors are her children, Edward (Lucia) Kieser, Kiki Murdock and Frederic (Tara) Kieser; grandchildren, Carolyn (Jim) O’Hearn, Steve Murdock, Luciana Kieser, Elena Kieser and A.J. Kieser and great-grandsons, Jameson and Declan O’Hearn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Kieser, Jr. on January 28, 1997. Her parents, Richard Lee Davis and Helen (Lane) Weber and step-sister, Sally are also deceased.
Private family burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery in Mayfield Heights.

Margery J. Kenerson - November 27, 1923 - March 20, 2024

Obituary Preview: Margery Jane Kenerson, age 100 years and 4 months, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 20, 2024.
Marge was born the youngest of three daughters of Henry and Edith Wappner on November 27, 1923, in Mansfield, Ohio. In October of 1949, Marge married Edward F. “Bud” Kenerson and they remained married until Bud passed away in 1999.
She touched the lives of many people in her century-plus, none more than her children, Sally Kenerson, Michael Kenerson (Mary Anne) and John Kenerson (Janet); her grandchildren, Erik (Kate), Brett (Megan), Tyler (Jessica), Joseph (Tyler) and Jacob Kenerson; and her great-grandchildren, Colette (5), Liza (4) and Cade (2) Kenerson.
Marge lived in Willowick for over 60 years and had many good friends and neighbors there. When she was not going to work at the Lake County Title Bureau in Painesville, you could find her outside weeding her flower beds, feeding the squirrels, or just watching the airplanes pass over head on their way to Cleveland Hopkins Airport.
After she and Bud both retired, they enjoyed going out to lunch almost every day at either Marietta’s or the Manhattan Deli. After Bud passed away, Marge learned how to drive at age 75 and continued the lunch time tradition on her own until she finally gave up her license at age 90.
She sold her home and moved to an assisted living apartment in Twinsburg with Kit, her beloved white cat and remained in Twinsburg until her passing. She made many new friends there among the residents and the staff.
Marge enjoyed baking - especially very decadent brownies and great cutout sugar cookies- making chocolate candies, and doing crafts. She made attractive stone jars, did ceramics, did macramé items and made several different kinds of holiday-themed crafts. She very much enjoyed sharing the baked treats and craft creations with family, friends, and the staff at her apartment.
She was also a big fan of Cleveland sports teams and very closely followed the ups and downs of the Guardians, the Browns, and the Cavaliers. She was active in Bethel Lutheran Church in Willowick, and cherished the many friendships she made there over the years.
Marge will be remembered with a smile by everyone who shared a part of her long life.
Visitation will be at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby, on Friday, April 5 from 11 AM until 1 PM with a service following at 1 PM.
A private family Interment will be held at Whitehaven Memorial Park.

Born December 15, 1928 in Cleveland, she had lived in Mentor for 47 years, before moving to Willoughby Hills.
She loved to play BINGO and spend time with her friends.
Mrs. Banis was employed as a supervisor at the former Allen-Bradley Corporation, retiring in 1989 after 19 years of service.
Survivors are her daughter, Toni Banis; granddaughter, Nicole (Steve) Miles and great-granddaughter, Sophie Miles. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Donna Banis; her daughter, Stacy (Damian) Trusso and their son, Akira as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Anthony, on April 22, 2008 and her son, Robert Banis, on October 29, 2012. Her sister, Dolly Walker and brother, Robert Westcott are also deceased.
Private family burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.

Born July 26, 1939 in Cleveland, she has lived in Mentor for the past 48 years.
She was a past member of Mayfield Heights Jay Seniors and enjoyed watching sports, especially all Cleveland teams. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Savage was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for Euclid Products in Willoughby for 26 years. Retiring in 2002.
Survivors are her children, Jeff Savage and Karen (George) Hollendersky; grandson, Tyler Hollendersky and brothers, Bruce Wingeleth and Dale Wingeleth (Kathleen). She also leaves her nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Russell, in September 2017. Her parents, Clifford and Lucille (Nenneman) Wingeleth are also deceased.
Private family burial will be in Acacia Memorial Park in Mayfield Heights.

Terra was preceded in death by her father, Larry, on March 2, 2010 and her mother, Stephanie, on April 11, 2012.
Her grandparents, Joseph Lee and Gereda “Rita” (Moses) Entsminger and Carosel and Betty Jo (Salmons) Ball and other family members are also deceased.
Family and friends may call and visit on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 12 Noon until 1 PM at Country Baptist Church, 9054 Lakeshore Boulevard, Mentor.
Terra will be laid to rest near her father, Larry, in the Pleasant View Cemetery – Moses Addition in Whitley County, Kentucky on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Schmitz) of 42 years; children, Lynn (Jeffrey) Nutting, Derick (Jennifer) Mann and Bryan (Dawn) Mann. His greatest pride are his seven grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Adrienne (James) Whittico and Sylvia (Dennis) Prichard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Marie (Trzeciak ) Konczal; his sister, Delphine (Don) Cox and his daughter, Kristine Rowen.
Born in 1936 in Detroit, he graduated from Fordson High in Dearborn, MI in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army and soon after began his career with General Motors as a General
Supervisor in Tecumseh before transferring to the Euclid plant.
He also attended Eastern Michigan University. Bert retired from General Motors after 33 years of service and enjoyed golf, hunting and spending time with his family. A Mass celebrating his life will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at St. Elizabeth
Catholic Church, 506 N. Union St., Tecumseh, MI 49286. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. on Friday, prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow immediately afterwards at Brookside Cemetery. Those so inclined will have an opportunity to share a brief memory of Bert.

Marion retired in 1990 from BP America. She was a graduate of East High School, Class of January 1949.
She enjoyed Cleveland sports, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and reading. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Kathleen) Boos, Marc Boos, Brian Boos, and Barry (Alice) Boos; grandchildren, Matthew (Karry) Boos, Kristy (Michael) Murray, Becky (Scott) Race, Robert Christopher Boos, and Allison and Brandon Boos; great-grandchildren, Adeline and Ashton Race, Olivia and Stephen Mitch, and Lauren and Jacqueline Murray; sister, Carol (Rolf) Beike; cherished and dear niece, Sandra Stepp; treasured best friend, Joan Bauer, and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Werner C. Boos in 2012. Her parents, Eric and Sara “Maja” (Anderson) Thulin and siblings, Florence Thomas, Doris Garrett, and Ernest Thulin are also deceased.

Her biggest interests included bingo, board games, and taking care of her pet fish and birds. Sharon loved holidays, spending time with her family, the zoo, and Elvis Presley.
Survivors are her sisters, Kathy (John) Kron and Kim Ludwick and her brother, James Rowles, Jr. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Ryan Kron (Megan), Michael (Lynn) Day, Donald (Tara) Ludwick, Susan Ludwick (Blasé) and Brian Ludwick, six great nieces, and two great-great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James, Sr. and Mary B. (Barber) Rowles and her brother-in-law, Donald Ludwick.

Born October 16, 1936 in Wickliffe, he was a lifelong Northeast Ohio resident, having lived many years in Hambden Township before moving to Kirtland in 2019.
He was a volunteer fireman with the Hambden Township Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music and spending time with his family, especially the holidays.
Mr. Parkin employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Wickliffe for his entire career.
Survivors are his children, Tom (Linda) Parkin, Christy (Tony) Brettrager and Lisa Thompson; grandchildren, David, Jeremy, Jim (Amber), Nick, Stacey, Daniel (Cheryl), Joshua (Becky); great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Henry, Jacob, Kenzie, Maddie, Conner, Charlotte, Savannah, Sierra, Austin and Hudson; great-great granddaughter, Kiylah. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

Nancy was a member of Grace Church of Mentor where she was active in the church choir. She graduated from Washington High School in Wisconsin and attended Indiana University where she met her husband, Jim. She was an accomplished violinist and taught private violin lessons for over 60 years.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Marie) McConnell, Catherine McConnell, and Peggy (Mike) Henderson; daughter-in-law, Katherine McConnell; grandchildren, Robert (Amber) McConnell Jr., Jason Bardin, Christopher Blackmon, Lacy Reynolds, Elizabeth McConnell, Steven Henderson, Jacob Henderson, Brenden Henderson, Lauren McConnell, and Elena McConnell.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Eileen, on June 13, 2019. His parents, Theodore and Laverne (Frueh) Thomas are also deceased.

Mr. Niedermeyer’s hobbies involved trains and playing Santa; he also participated in the Turkey Bowl one year. Mary Ann enjoyed gardening and taking care of her cats.
William was employed at the former National Acme Corporation in Cleveland and Mary Ann worked at the former Horton’s Nursery and Gale’s Garden Center.
Survivors are their daughter, Yvonne and her furry kids, Bailey and Blossom; Bill’s sisters, Jean Niedermeyer and Christina (Charles) Palmer; Mary Ann’s brother, Martin Smoley. They also leave many nieces and nephews and their families.
They were preceded in death by Bill’s parents, William, Sr. and Elizabeth (Hlvach) Niedermeyer; Mary Ann’s parents, Joseph, Sr. and Mary (Avsec) Smoley; her brother, Joseph Smoley, Jr. and her sister-in-law, Anna Marie Smoley.

He was born November 26, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio, the eldest son of Chester Arthur Smith and Janice Davies May. David graduated from Colonel White High School, Dayton (1971). He attended Wilberforce University, Wilberforce (1971-1973), The Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology, Dayton (2003-2004), and Clark State Community College, Springfield (2011).
David was an avid golfer, becoming a Golf Ranger at Dayton’s Madden and Kittyhawk Golf Courses and later a golf superintendent. He cherished playing with friends Darwin, Diamond and Chet of The Ohio Players.
David was a businessman and entrepreneur from 1983 to 1997, owned and operated Promotions Express Screenprinting Company in Trotwood. His original artwork was sold across the county, including for Walt Disney Inc. Among many great pieces: the Black Cowboys Series, the 1993 Great Flood of Mississippi (20,000) and 1995 Million Man March, Washington, DC. (29,000), Juneteenth (15,000).
Like his father, he favored Frank Sinatra, Big Band and smooth jazz. ‘Big David’, affectionately called by his family, was an incredible cook, with his specialty being the BBQ grill.
He loved fishing and golfing with the men at Canfield UMC and the friendship of the men of Mentor UMC Thursday Men’s Breakfast.
David became a certified commercial driver CDL in 2011 and enjoyed traveling long haul until retirement in 2020.
David was raised Catholic and baptized in the Baptist faith at Shiloh MBC, Dayton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Julianne E. Jones, Lori Hurst, and son Ptah-Hotep Tate Smith.
David will be forever in the hearts of his wife Ivy Jo Kirtdoll Smith, his sons: Daniel (Kenya) Core of Tipp City, OH; Steven Burse of Detroit, MI; Solomon (Candace) Smith of San Antonio, TX; and daughters: Kemona Jones of Grand Rapids, MI; and Lydia Jo Smith of Mentor; brothers: Jonathan (Frankie) Davies, Mark (Agnes) Bradford, David Davies, Ronald Smith; sisters: Nona Chambers, Ruth Norris, Janet Russell, Rhea Davies, Jean Davies, Jill Paschal; cousin: G. Mr. Haney was employed as an inspector at the former Terex Division of General Motors in Cleveland for 30 years and then became the maintenance director at the Fine Arts Association in Willoughby until his retirement.
He was a storyteller his entire life, telling ghost stories and humorous tales around the campfire and at numerous family and church gatherings. He acted in, and later directed, plays in several community theaters, including Rabbit Run. He became a local celebrity for his portrayal of President James A. Garfield at many events in the region, and co-founded We Made History, a troupe of first person living historians who portray various presidents and First Ladies.
Survivors are his wife of 68 years, Vivian (Huggins) Haney; children, Edward A. (Marjorie) Haney, Vicki L. (Mel Jr.) House and Vivian L. (Michael) Sarkis; grandchildren, Nicole (Ryan) Greer, Danielle (Michael) Sharpnack, Arielle (Andrew) Hieronimus, Jarrod House, Lauren (Rafael) Perez and Anthony Sarkis; eight great-grandchildren and his niece, Margaret Sottosanti, who he loved like a sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward H. and Esther Lee (Rankin) Haney.
