Shortly after his tour of service was over, he met and married the love of his life, Arlene in 1957. He then reenlisted in the United States Coast Guard and received the Good Conduct Medal. Years later, in p1984, he and his wife and two of their children relocated to Chincoteague Island, VA, so he could pursue his lifelong love for the ocean and dream of becoming a commercial fisherman. Carl and partner opened a business called Old Dominion Lobster Co, and purchased a 100-foot offshore supply and crew vessel and converted it to a commercial lobster/long line vessel and named it Gannet, fishing 400 miles offshore which allowed him to obtain his USCG Masters License, 100 ton in 1992. After spending some time retired, he couldn’t sit still so he earned his Virginia State Master Electrician License and landed a job with FKW and Computer Sciences Corporation Applied Technology Division on Wallops Island, VA, as an Engineering Technician for several years before he became fully retired. During his retirement he became a Free Mason. Mary Keenan - August 17, 1926 - April 24, 2024

Departed: 04/24/2024 (Somerville)
Obituary Preview: A bowl of Mary’s homemade chicken noodle soup was sure to warm the chill of a cold winter night.. Her homemade soup was only one of many delicious meals she prepared for family and friends throughout the years. Those who took part would not soon forget those meals or the loving hands that prepared them.
Mary (Cerar) Keenan of Somerset, N.J. passed away peacefully on April 24th at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.
She was born in Forest City, Pennsylvania in 1926 to Jozefa (Rus) and Jerry Cerar. She had three older sisters and three older brothers. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1944. Soon after graduation she began a career as a dressmaker, first as an employee of a local clothing manufacturer and later as a self-employed seamstress. Her skills as a seamstress helped many in her community look dapper in their stylish, well fitted clothing. She saved many tears with her last-minute adjustments to wedding dresses and prom dresses.
On February 12, 1949, she married the love her life Leo Keenan. They were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Forest City and then settled in nearby Uniondale. They were married for 48 years until Leo’s passing in 1997. Although Mary had no children of her own, she had many nieces and nephews. In fact, she had four generations of nieces and nephews. She played an important role in many of their lives. She held impromptu cooking and sewing lessons, cheered them on at many ball games, dance recitals, school plays and school music recitals. She celebrated many of their birthdays, graduations and weddings. She truly was a Great Aunt.
Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a long-time communicant of St Joseph Catholic Church in Forest City. From her birth until her departure from the Forest City area in 2005, she was an active member of the church. Her greatest joy came from her involvement with the St Joseph Church Choir. Besides weekly mass, she performed at many weddings, funerals and Holy Day Masses. She cherished the years she spent as a member of the choir and often reminisced about the good times she experienced.
In her later years she moved to New Jersey to be near her family. She settled in Somerset, NJ in an assisted living facility. She was an active member of the community. She performed with the handbell choir, acted with the players group, played lots of Bingo, took day trips to area attractions and attended weekly mass. As a strong-willed woman, she always rose to the occasion. In 2020, when the Covid-19 Pandemic struck and lockdowns were instituted, she showed her inherent Northeastern Pennsylvania grit. She would not allow the virus, or the lockdowns beat her. She became a source of inspiration for many as she roared back afterwards resuming her robust lifestyle.
During her years in New Jersey, she did quite a bit of traveling. She spent weeklong summer vacations in towns along the Jersey Shore, she traveled to Upstate New York for a youth baseball tournament, traveled the seas on two Caribbean cruises, took numerous trips to New York City for Broadway Shows, The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, concerts and the ballet. She always enjoyed heading up to The Bronx for Yankee games. She was fond of her visits back to Forest City, driving by the old homestead on Susquehanna St, visiting Leo and her parents in the cemetery and stopping by some old haunts for a bite to eat or just to say hello to an old friend.
Mary will be sorely missed at family gatherings. She was the last of her generation. Our family benefited by having her around to tell stories from times long ago and offering up sage advice. We know she is in better place now, free from her earthly body and back home with her Leo and her parents.
We want to thank the staff of Spring Hills Somerset for the amazing care they gave her. She was grateful for everything that was done for her day in and day out. Spring Hills Somerset became her home, and the staff became her second family.
The funeral services will be private with only close family present. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Forest City, PA.

Harry C. Frevert - May 19, 1952 - April 20, 2024

Departed: 04/20/2024 (Somerville)
Obituary Preview: Harry C. Frevert, 71, May 19, 1952-April 20, 2024 Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother, Coach & Friend
A man most will remember for his blue eyes, comforting smile, unending devotion to his friends and family, his ability to fix anything and everything and of course his heart of gold.
Harry was born in Irvington to the late Harry and Gloria Frevert. He was a graduate of Essex Catholic High School, and went on to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Harry began his career as the shipping manager at Crestline, A Division of Federal Steel. Being the shipping manager, he would speak with Lucille Lauria in sales on the phone almost daily. After finally being connected at a Christmas party in 1975, he married the love of his life on October 16, 1976. They settled in Iselin before moving to Branchburg in 1980, where they raised their two girls and created a life filled with love and happiness.
After working for Satellite Products for over 16 years, Harry went on to work for Vail Industries in South Plainfield. During that time, he enjoyed a fulfilling career, alongside his work family, for almost 30 years. While building his life in Branchburg, he took an active role in their park and recreation development, as the town grew in the early nineties. Overtime, Harry became a pillar of his community, helping construct and design athletic fields, parks, walking paths and developing programs to meet the needs of his community. Harry’s involvement motivated the development of the Branchburg Soccer 30+ league. His purpose for the league was to provide adult soccer enthusiasts a place in which to continue their passion of playing the sport. It also provided young referees (which he trained for many years) an opportunity to practice implementing the rules of the game. He also coordinated the Branchburg high school pickup games, a way for players from all high schools to have access to the fields in Branchburg and get game time practice. Harry was a coach and referee well into his kid’s adulthood.
Harry was the true definition of a girl dad and devoted himself, not only to his own daughters, but to all the girls that became part of his family, over the years. As his daughters started to participate in sports, he made sure to be at every practice and every game. He began to coach soccer and softball, which is where he became fondly known as “Mr. Frev”. He coached his girls well into their adult years, even sticking it through some “Bad News Bears” seasons with their Branchburg adult softball team. His dedication and unconditional support of his kids, their friends, and his players will be remembered for the positive impression left with them for a lifetime.
Off the field, Harry enjoyed fixing and building things, especially birdhouses. Many of his creations can be found in the backyards of family and friends. Harry enjoyed trying different wines and ending his work day with a glass of wine with his wife. He was even known for the one who always supplied the wine for all dinners, holidays and family trips. Although he would never admit it, he was a Yankees’ fan through and through and spent many nights and weekends listening or watching, through the wins and losses with his wife by his side. He also had a “Green Thumb” and spent many hours through the spring and summer, planting and attending to his flowers, shrubs, herbs and vegetable plants, a hobby he shared with his grandkids.
Overall, his main passion in life was his family. He was a family man to the core and would do anything for his wife, children and grandchildren. He was at every birthday, and every holiday. He showed up with things you didn't know you needed or with his toolkit to fix something you had mentioned to him about fixing yourself. He enjoyed family dinners at Cafe Picasso or simple BBQs in the backyard. It did not have to be a special occasion, he just wanted his family to be together. One of his favorite times spent with his family was their yearly family trip to LBI to celebrate his birthday. The long weekend was filled with love, laughter, good food, adventures and wine. When he became a grandfather, he loved teaching his grandchildren new things and made sure to create core memories with each of them. And of course, time spent with his wife, his best friend, was held near and dear to his heart. Although he is gone, his memory lives on through all of those he had an impact on throughout his life. And as so lovingly and sweetly stated by his granddaughter Zoey, “Grandpa was needed in Heaven because they needed a gardener.”
He was preceded in death by his brother Wayne Frevert, and nephew, Wayne Boy.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 47 years, Lucille Frevert, his adored daughters, Lindsay Frevert and Katelyn Glennon and husband Neil, his cherished grandchildren Zoey, Zach, Zola, and Z (#4 coming in August), his “adoptive” family Chris, Michelle, CJ and Lily, his sister Kathryn Christo (Brian), sister in law, Jill, brothers in law, Frank (Peggy), Louis (Tricey), Thomas (Susan), and Anthony (Axel), as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family, colleagues, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 60 Maple Street, Bridgewater.

As members of the Greatest Generation, Bob and Catherine settled on Long Island where they raised their family. They resided in Massapequa Park before moving to Islip in 1969. Catherine had wide ranging creative interests which included her needlework and stained glass pieces, found today in many of her family's homes. Her sewing machine ran actively for many many years producing clothing, household furnishings, and even dolls for her grandchildren. She found great joy in becoming a grandmother and continued to support and delight in her family even further as a new generation of great-grandchildren, her "little people," came into her life.
While strongly centered on her own family, Catherine's longest and most abiding earthly interest outside the home was her support for expectant mothers and unborn babies with her prayers, letters, and contributions to pro-life organizations and her attendance multiple times at the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C.
In her passing, Catherine's greatest legacy is her unfailing and fervent faith in God, and the ways in which that faith formed her into the loving matriarch of a large and growing family tree.
